I would highly recommend the Leaky Cauldron if you are looking for a quick meal in Harry Potter World. When we came for lunch around 11, there were several empty tables and we sat down right away. I came to Universal one day with an out of town friend. We lucked out, the park was decently empty, and we got on a lot of rides, didn't wait in too long of lines, and ended up with some time to kill. In that time, we were hungry and got some lunch. So we came to the Leaky Cauldron. Where else would a couple of wily Slytherins get a bite to eat? So we got in line, looked at the menus, decided what to get, and got seated. The way this place gets people in and out in a hurry is actually pretty impressive. Hurried service, but the staff was all very nice. No issues. As for the ambiance, well you're in a castle-esque structure. Towering ceilings, giant blocks as walls with pictures and posters hanging askew as the décor, old school looking tables and stools, it's all themed very well. As for the food, I ordered the Beef, Lamb & Guinness Stew (Served in a warm, crusty bread bowl). I couldn't turn down a bead bowl. I never can. The stew itself tasted very good, and it's overflowing out of the bread bowl, feigning that there's a heap of food inside, but alas, there was not. The bread bowl itself was certainly crusty, as advertised, but it was all crust, no soft. The stew did not readily get sopped by the bread bowl, which I thought was strange. The fish and chips were decent but tasted more like fish sticks than fish and chips definitely came right out of a bag. Thankfully it's nicely air conditioned, as it was about a thousand degrees every day that we were in Orlando. The butterbeer did not hit with the kid, though. I had the banger sandwich, which came with roasted tomatoes, mustard and a delicate saurekraut. The bun broke in half immediately, but that worked to my advantage because it was too much food for me, especially in that heat, so I shared with both Jeremy and his dad- who raved about the bread. I ordered the fish and chips along with the mash and bangers. The r sausage in the bangers were sooo delicious. The mash potatoes tasted like packaged mash. As for the fish and chips, it was very crispy and there were lots of fish pieces! It came with a side of tartare. We also got a butter beer which is a must at Harry Potter world! Ah, finally got to eat at the famous Leaky Cauldron! Tom the bartender wasn't there, but we made do. The interior was well designed to look and feel just like the movie version of the famous pub and hotel. They play music and sound effects inside to help with the ambiance as well. Universal has shifted to a mostly app based dining experience, meaning you have to download the app and set up payment in order to have the best experience. You can still order and pay at a register, but it's much slower. First they seat you based on party size, then you scan the QR code and order, or enter your table number as part of the process. We ate here several times over the course of our vacation. Of note, their breakfast has some unique options only available here and not in Hogsmeade. Also of note is that breakfast here includes a free drink, so you don't have to pay extra for a butter beer. If you want multiple drinks, just select the most expensive one as part of your meal and then add on the cheaper one. Note that this is only for breakfast. And you have to add the complimentary water separately, you can't just ask the servers. The food is actually pretty good, and not just by theme park standards. Universal had time to figure these out and they've done well. The fish and chips are pretty standard, but tasty. My wife liked the pies as well, it was nice touch to allow people to try two types of pies in one meal. The drinks are good, sugary as expected at a theme park, but a bit pricey. While I liked the orange fizzy drink, I don't think I liked it enough for get again. The butter beer is a sure thing and the pear cider is actually a better and cheaper option if you don't want another butter beer. Overall we loved the experience. read more

Egg mushroom & leek is wrapped in a puff pastry. The pastry was nice and flaky and paired really well with the eggs it seriously was a favorite. A must on every visit we make to Universal! Amazing theming, and they have recently added some more vegetarian options to the menu. I tried the Shepherd's Pasty Pie, which contains meatless crumbles. It was really good! It came with a dijonaise sauce on the side and lots of chips. The apple and beet salad that came on the side was not the best but it was fine. Ate here during our four park days at Universal. I highly suggest looking over the menu before jumping in line to get a table, because they have some unique offerings if you're a Harry Potter fan you'll definitely enjoy it. We waited in a line to get seated at a table. You will be more than likely seated near strangers. If you're looking for spread out tables this isn't for you. There are some available but more for the larger groups or if you get lucky. We ordered our meal on the universal app and scanned the QR code at our table then they brought our food out. There are no muggle options for beverages (Coke, etc.)! Just wizard offerings (butterbeer, and other wizard bevs), so don't try and order a regular soda here. My girlfriend and I got the fish and chips with butterbeers. Butterbeer is fantastic it's like a butterscotch crème soda with a creamy foam at the top that is absolutely delicious. The fish and chips were super fresh and really tasty! Only complaint, we needed more tartar sauce. All the offerings here are on the hearty side, so you should give yourself a little time after your meal before walking in the heat or riding a ride afterwords to let your stomach settle. We stopped in for breakfast, and I ordered the American breakfast (eggs, potatoes, sausage, bacon, and a buttered croissant). I told them I have a gluten and dairy allergy, so I didn't need the butter croissant. The person taking my order said it was a requirement for him to get the chef when there are allergies. I'm glad it wasn't crowded when we got there (we showed up towards the end of breakfast time), but this felt unnecessary - especially during peak hours. The chef was so kind and told me she would make my meal to prevent any cross-contamination. Great! The only bummer was that the rest of our table's food was ready immediately, so theirs was getting cold while waiting for mine. Once my food was ready, she told me she couldn't give me eggs since they were made with sour cream, so she gave me extra potatoes. So I ended up with half a plate of potatoes, 2 sausage links and some bacon. I was grateful they went out of the way to prevent cross-contamination, but it would have been helpful to know my egg breakfast was going to be a big plate of greasy potatoes. If I had known that, I would have ordered oatmeal to give me a little more substance before walking around a hot park all day. It seems silly that they couldn't prepare eggs without sour cream or give me a heads up BEFORE I finished placing my order. Other than that, the food was decent for a theme park. For vegetarian options in Universal, the Shepherd's Pasty Pie is a great dish. It's very filling and a good size. The fries are tasty, and the beets are a fresh complement to the pasty pie. I also ordered the butterbeer, which is refreshing and a great option! It tastes like liquid butterscotch. The ambiance of the Leaky Cauldron is fun and a nice place to sit to enjoy the theming. Although it was packed when we were there, you have enough space to feel like you have some breathing room away from the crowds. We had a little bit of a mix-up, and I accidentally got a non-veg dish. Luckily, we realized it before I ate it, and they replaced it immediately despite the longer wait to initially get our dishes. We were spending a few days at universal studios with some friends and this restaurant was on their must-done list. Although it's a British pub-style restaurant, it reminds me of a Biergarten. The food is definitely "Brit" and if that isn't appealing, this isn't the restaurant for you. I ordered a beer and fish and chips. The fish and chips were good, but I surprisingly LOVED their tartar sauce. (I was full prepared to douse it with malt vinegar for a traditional meal, but changed courses after tasting their tartar sauce). I don't like pickles or relish and normally tartar sauce is off-putting. Theirs was really good. We visited Finnegans the next day and their Fish and Chips weren't as good as the Leaky Caldron. Also, the person outside greeting guests and directing the line stopped every group before entering to ask if they had the mobile ordering app and offered an explanation of how it all worked. This slowed the process. A sign or a few signs explaining the app instead would help the "hostess" get more people through the door faster. NOTE: Download the Universal Studio app - this will give you mobile ordering abilities plus other park info that can really help find things during your day(s). Food: I got the Ploughman's (1 serving not 2) - it was AMAZING! It was like a charcuterie board with fun cheeses, lettuce, roasted tomatoes, and a beyond-delicious Scotch Egg! I also got the Fishy Green Ale - super fun tasting and a little weird. I'm glad I got it but would rather get Butterbeer or Pumpkin Juice. My mom got the child sized Fish & Chips - the kid's size was great; filling but not so filling that we didn't have room left for more butterbeer and cheaper. Everything was hot and fresh! Atmosphere: It felt like dining in a scene from Harry Potter or a great British lord's hall. It was magical and busy/crowded but not tight. Once you get in and find a seat, look up and around and enjoy the details of the room.
