The staff was very unsociable. We stopped up for a drink, but spent a few minutes warming by the fire instead before leaving. No drinks for us- Disappointing experience.

Husband and I stayed at the Hampton for a full week, and we visited the Tiki Bar every day. So nice to have right there on-site. Drinks have been great, I'm a margarita snob and I must say, they make a great Patron Margarita. Would be even better if they offered food/snacks every day vs just for 5 days even if they had something simple like chips, nuts, etc. We had the chicken salad multiple times and we loved it.

    Cheers!

So nice being on the beach. We came on a Saturday night and were served immediately! Drinks were good - cocktails were $10-14 ish miller lite was $5 We had a nice view of the water and it was fairly calm. I can't wait to come back!

Leaping Lizards Tiki Bar is in the back of the Hampton Inn and Suites. It is part of the hotel itself but it is open to the general public, not just Hampton guest. It is right off the Carolina Beach boardwalk, facing the beach. Here is what you need to know. - The drinks here are actually above par. Better than a lot of the local bars. - The drinks are more expensive than most places in Carolina Beach - Mixed drinks, cocktails, beer and wine available. Limited draft beer selection. - The take cash and plastic. If you are a Hampton guest then you can bill it to your room. - They even have some food options which are made in the kitchen inside the hotel. - The Tiki bar itself is small and normally manned by one bartender - You can access Leaping Lizards from the boardwalk - The bartenders are very professional and friendly. Love Dean, he is great! - Everything, except can beer, is served in a plastic cup. I assume this is due to the pool close by. Leaping Lizards is more expensive than other bars around but the drinks and service is very good. Plus you can access this place right off the beach and boardwalk. Recommend.

Great day to be at the Tiki Bar

It was a warm and sunny day at the end of February so there was a lot of people out. We were walking along the boardwalk and thought this would be an easy stop for a drink since we didn't have to go inside. It's apart of the Hampton Inn and it just looked like a fun spot. It wasn't crowded at first but it did fill up later. We got a great spot in the sun with a great view. All their cocktails sounded good but just got a local beer on draft - good beer but small cups. Was a cool beachy bar and I'd come back.

Whether you stay at the Hampton inn or not, the leaping lizard is a great place to get a quick drink outside on the board walk! Had drinks here back to back nights and both bartenders were friendly and provided good service! Drinks were good and prices are fair

    Now open but too busy!

If I could give 0 stars I would. Do not go to this roach motel bar! Apparently it's too busy to serve 2 guests not staying there! Will was the "busy" bartender. Go elsewhere. Head down the street to Nautidog. Great service, food, and drinks!

If you're looking for one of those places where everything just lines up--the weather, the food,…read morethe mood--this is it. Out on the pier at Tiki Bar & Ocean Grill, you've got a front-row seat to the Atlantic, and on a day like today, it doesn't get much better. Blue sky, sun hitting the water just right, and a breeze that reminds you why people have been coming to the coast long before fancy resorts showed up. Food Simple answer: they've got it dialed in. Fresh, well-prepared, and exactly what you want at the beach. No overthinking it--just good coastal food done right. That's how it's supposed to be. Service Friendly, easygoing, and attentive without hovering. The kind of service that makes you feel welcome but doesn't interrupt your view--or your drink. Atmosphere This is where they really win. Sitting out over the water with string lights overhead and waves rolling in? That's hard to beat anywhere. Now, yes--the beach itself has those big metal pipes running through for replenishment. Not exactly postcard material. But here's the truth: once you're up on that pier, looking out over the ocean, it barely matters. The view still does what it's supposed to do--makes you slow down and stay a while. Final Take Great food, solid service, and a view that carries the whole experience. Even with the beach work going on, this place delivers what a coastal spot should: good eats, cold drinks, and a reason to sit a little longer than you planned. If the weather's right, don't overthink it--grab a seat, order something simple, and enjoy it the way folks have been doing for generations.

Some of the best food in the area, but this being our second visit one thing we have noticed each…read moretime is the cocktails are expensive and not really worth it. When we return we likely either wouldn't order alcohol or would order a non -cocktail. For the price ($14-$15) one of my drinks was initially made incorrectly and I was given the wrong thing- and my replacement drink was truly just straight lime juice. The servers are great but they also make drinks and it seemed like to me that maybe there was too much going on for some of them. Our server seemed very overwhelmed and I watched her squeeze a bottle of coconut cream with clearly nothing in it into a cocktail shaker multiple times when most tiki style drinks contain coconut. So just a cautionary tale that the food is excellent but I wouldn't order cocktails, it's just hard to justify the prices when they are pretty subpar. I can't stress enough how good the food is so maybe just don't order drinks here!

A great place to eat!…read more Me and my parents came here for lunch as we heard it was highly rated. Getting there was a little tricky but that was the GPS' fault. It has a nice big parking lot and we were shocked that on a Thursday afternoon, it was packed. When we walked in, we were greeted nicely and seated at a booth. The booth was nice and spacious. The table was clean, silverware was mostly clean, and there was salt, pepper, and I believe paprika shakers already on the table. One thing that impressed me heavily, is that there was a napkin dispenser already on the table. I can't tell you how frustrating it is when you have to ask for more napkins at other restaurants, and your server is nowhere to be found, or when they bring you some, but it's not enough. This is huge for a food critic like myself and this should be the standard at all restaurants. Our server was nice. She was knowledgeable about the menu and honest about what was good and what wasn't as popular. The food was good! I got the swordfish tacos with garlic mashed potatoes and a side of baked mac and cheese. The baked mac and cheese was excellent (it's quite big! You may want to make that your only side or share it with someone). The garlic mashed was good too. The swordfish tacos were good, but would've liked a little more meat in there. Still, flavor was great. My parents both got lobster rolls which they liked and my dad got the crab chowder and he said it was fantastic. Their chowder's is what they are famous for; will try that when I go back. Server was attentive, brought us refills and did an overall great job. Food is reasonable priced too and it looked like the store manager checked up on us a few times which was nice as well. Overall a great seafood restaurant to eat at. I recommend going if you are in the area; would like to go back in the future!

Server: Asya H Time…read moreArrived: 2:12 PM Time Seated: 2:14 PM Drinks Arrived: 2:35 PM Ordered Food: 2:40 PM Food Arrived: 3:09 PM We are locally based at our beach house for the beginning of summer and stopped into a new restaurant that was highly recommended by a nearby business. We were excited to try it based on the great things we had heard, but unfortunately we left with the complete opposite impression. We liked the casual grill style atmosphere that still felt family friendly. The host was prompt and welcoming, seating us almost immediately. Our server, Asya, greeted us, provided menus, and gave us time to review everything while ordering drinks and our toddler's food. Initially, things seemed promising. As someone recovering from cancer, I am mindful about what I eat and often ask questions about menu items, daily specials, and popular dishes so I can find options that aren't overly heavy or greasy. When I specifically asked about specials and recommendations, I was directed first toward the seafood boils and then several of the highest priced menu items. What was surprising was that we later discovered a daily specials menu that was never mentioned to us despite my direct questions. It felt less like guidance and more like an attempt to steer us toward the most expensive choices available. As time went on, our experience continued to decline. It took over 20 minutes just to receive our drinks, and throughout our visit our server was frequently unavailable. At one point we needed new crayons for our daughter because the ones provided were broken, and after being unable to locate our server, another employee..a gentleman with silver hair...kindly stepped in to help. Ironically, he was more attentive to our table in that brief interaction than our assigned server had been for much of the meal. The wait times became excessive. From the moment we sat down until our food arrived, nearly an hour had passed. For a mid-afternoon meal that wasn't during a rush, this was difficult to understand. Communication was minimal, there were no updates regarding delays, and we were repeatedly left wondering what was happening. What disappointed us most was that the issues weren't related to the food itself but to the overall service experience. We came in excited to support a local restaurant that had been highly recommended and instead left feeling overlooked, uninformed, and frustrated. There are too many excellent restaurants in the area that value their guests' time and provide attentive service for us to justify returning after this experience.
