I called Tilton figuring I'd just get another dead end support person telling me I would need to bring the set in for them to fix for some outrageous price. I'm just getting myself psyched up to buy another tv... Then I speak with Tilton and I'm now amazingly re-inspired with humanity. Not only does he know what I'm talking about, he goes on to explain what normally happens with these tv's and how to fix the problem. He saved me at least $90 by not having to try a new power supply which I was close to buying off ebay. With no expectation of getting my immediate business he calmly speaks to me as if I may know just enough to be able to fix this myself. Yay! Most companies keep "real" knowledge buried behind closed doors, tucked away in the dark so we're forced to either use their expensive services or throw away our things. It is so rare as a "retail consumer" to be able to figure out ever more complicated gadgets. Getting to speak with someone like Tilton is like finding a rare jewel for us tekkies. I call him at 830 and now he is leaving town for 2 weeks and can't come look at my PC. When I tell him this is terrible business practice his only response is "It is what it is" and hangs up. Dude strung me along for nothing. If he didn't want to come out he could've just said that and I could've found someone else. The mini usb connection was ripped off the processor board and is considered a micro soldering repair. I went to 5 repair shops local where I live and none would touch it. I ended up coming to Rochester for my son's high school event today and seen Dragon Computer Tech was the only one open on a Sunday. I called him and he had me send a few pictures and then ended up stopping by his place where he looked at everything and explained that it would be a very difficult repair due to the size and placement of everything but he was willing to do it. He made his first repair and we check it in my vehicle and it ended up needing an adjustment. Second time work like a charm and he just saved me close to 1k if I had to replace everything.
