Things to do along I-75 N/S to and from the Detroit area (2 of 2)…read more I had to slow down the clock and spend a little time here. The real destination was Detroit. That said, I had coffee at one place, ate a meat loaf lunch at another, pawed the car windows and did some test sitting at a few dealerships, drove around the University of Toledo campus (which I didn't know is a very good school for STEM disciplines), and put the cherry on top of these few hours by visiting the Toledo Botanical Garden. I walked the garden and took photos. It was warm and humid, so I didn't really relax and sit a spell. Like many public gardens, the Toledo Botanical Garden, out toward the western end of the city, mixes up formal garden spaces with European cues and more organic spaces, meaning they are natural in affect and display very little rigid planning. I was fairly amazed how, as you moved along, these different vistas came into view. Everything was cohesively put together and you could enjoy the different environments they've curated for you. The Toledo Botanical Garden is part of the city metro park system, which I learned from other reviews. Thus, being under this umbrella might mean that the park is free of charge ... and it is! For this aspect and for delivering more than I had expected, having pulled it from a "top things to do" list, I believe the Toledo Botanical Garden handily earns 5 stars.

A great place to come to get away from city spaces. Plenty of routes to walk around and take in the…read moregardens, sculptures, and art. There are some events that go on here in the evening, so would love to come back and experience one of those. Also, looks like you can take art classes here!

The positives.... the customer service is fantastic! We called to take place an order for a boutonniere. The staff were incredibly friendly, and asked what we needed specifically. We told Schrams that we were wanting something black and white to match the kids prom attire. They had the boutineer ready in plenty of time. When my daughter picked up the boutonniere staff were attentive and pleasant. The negatives: This is a rather sad, small, plain boutonniere. With a $25 price tag I would expect more than two miniature roses. There is no black on this boutonniere. We were expecting a small ribbon or something to jazz up the boutonnière. We have purchased Boutonnieres from other floral shops, and always had something a little more special. I am not sure if the simplicity of this boutonniere and the lack of detail is due to the amount of prom orders right now and they got overwhelmed, or if someone just phoned it in on this particular order. I was underwhelmed to say the least. Next time I place an order I'll be a bit more specific and maybe even send a photo of what we have in mind. That being said, I will try them again in the future. Their in store arrangements were gorgeous.

They also had a good amount of clothing here as well as bags some of which were just totally cute! The only gross part was the woman behind the counter and whoever was assisting her. We were the only two people in the store (men, heavily tattooed, if she knew we were both financially stable maybe things would have been different sadly) and we're watched like shoplifters. Not one hello, from either person. Just stares when we were browsing while they pretended to be busy. After 10 minutes of awkward silence, we had just found some candles, and a middle aged white woman walked in and boom. "Hello! Welcome in, let us know if we can help you" My husband and I both got the message, dropped what we were looking at and walked out. No goodbye come again, just pretty selective salespeople. Very selective. Gross. Gross. Gross. Be ashamed. This is why our country is falling to shit.
