There were few red flags at the beginning, but being new parents, we kind of brushed them off. Big mistake: 1) Ms Claudia tried to change the diaper of our 1yr old daughter. She tired to have her lay down on a changing pad, which our little one would have none of it. Our girl was hysterically crying and trying to break free from this woman who has "extensive experience". We couldn't believe what we were seeing: Ms Claudia totally ignored our girls hysterical crying, and continued her "left-right" story as if this is normal. It is not normal. My wife made sure to let her know that our little one has never cried like this, not even during her vaccine shots! 2) During one of our visits, we heard barking from one of the rooms, and were told that one of the dogs recently gave birth that there were 6 puppies. I love dogs, but 6 puppies + 2 adult dogs in a fairly tight indoor space is not ideal when toddlers are trying to nap. We made sure to read the Parent Handbook and fill out the forms and pre-pay for the first month tuition, even though we were just starting the 4-week Trial Period. Our child only attended 2 days (in the Trial Period). I informed Ms Claudia that we will not continue further, and only ask that we are refunded for the pre-paid monthly tuition ($1,995). In her Parent Handbook (pg 14) it clearly states the following: "At any time during the four (4) week trial period, if the provider or family feels that this is not a suitable arrangement for the child, the contract can be terminated by either party without penalty, notice, or specific reason. The security deposit will be refunded in full and the family will only be responsible to pay for the days attended." Totally reasonable. We had no problem paying for the 2 (gentle days) she attended along with the non-refundable registration fee. But there is a catch! When I brought up the tuition refund, I was informed that the "tuition" is non-refundable. A tuition paid for a month in advance, where my child never attended a single day. You've gotta be kidding me! I will seek legal advice since this is clearly breach of the contract we signed with conflicting details.

I asked her teachers while they were kind, The director was not and immediately shifted the blame to the staff. A real director doesn't blame anyone, just fix the issue. I never had this problem with Ms Justice. There has to be a change I talk to parents everyday and we all came to the same conclusion about Nikita, she is not fit to be a director especially with her nasty behavior towards children and the people who work with her. They also have PARENTS in ratio due to the understaffing. Like it's ridiculous imagine dropping your child off to daycare and the parents of the damn students are taking care of the same damn kids they dropped off! What are we paying for? The site is so colorful, often the walls are covered with the childrens art work and you're always greeted warm welcomes and smiles. As first time parents and not having any family close by we were nervous about putting our son in daycare at 3 months old. We toured other daycares in area but none came close to what Benicia KinderCare had to offer. Mrs. Erica and the infant room teachers made the transition easy. They would send daily updates and pictures through their app, easing my nerves about putting him in daycare at such an early age. But thank God we did, because when my son turned 8 months I was diagnose with stage 2 appendiceal & colorectal cancer. During my recovery the teacher helped provide some extra love & care to our son, and those daily updates and pictures became my lifeline to him while I went through my surgeries, long stays in the hospital & treatment. My son is now 2 years old and is in the Preschool class. Weekly we are surprised by something that he has learned, how he is developing motor skills and language or how social he has become by making so many friends. Our son is constantly happy and excited to go to daycare every morning, which speaks volume to how the staff treat him and all the children. We finally made it to submitting our pay stubs and as soon as we did, Kay ghosted us and we did not hear back from them for at least a month. We randomly get a call from Kay saying that the class was full and they were not accepting any more children. Two months pass and we receive a call from Circle of Friends stating that Kay Fleming no longer works there and they would love to pick up where we left in getting our daughter enrolled. They mentioned that they had our previous application but said it would be best to resubmit a new one. So we did. After a few days Lili (the young lady helping) calls me to inform me that we do not qualify for the subsidy price and that we would have to pay the $325 weekly. Not a big issue for us, but as I was breaking down the price to my partner as we considered our options, Lili sends me a text saying "we apologize for the inconvenience but we are only prioritizing families that qualify for subsidy and your daughter is no longer in consideration." Let me be clear - we were not checking for Circle of Friends after the experience with Kay Fleming. I honestly believe there was some financial discrimination involved that I assumed was a reflection of Kay, but after having a similar experience with Lili, it is clear this is an organizational issue that has waisted our time. And they have a beautiful playground filled with toys the kids can enjoy as soon as they're mobile enough! Heidy (the owner) is incredible. She's picked a staff of women who just love kids. They are all so kind and caring. And it's such a bonus that they're all Spanish speakers- my daughter learned so much Spanish from them! I was so nervous to bring my daughter anywhere when she was 3 months old- but now I can't imagine her being anywhere else. From the second I walked in the door, Heidy and her staff set my mind at ease. The communication and photo updates throughout the day kept me in the loop. They listened and they were very prompt in action and because of that I was able to swiftly transition my LO to a safer environment, where the healing process could begin. They were patient during my untold amount of questions and follow up questions about, nap time, drop off, pick up, curriculum, food time, etc. And though we may not be as established, as are their other families, I see my LO's personality starting to come back out and that only happens when a child feels safe. The boisterous outgoing social butterfly that had reverted back to their chrysalis and then to caterpillar before starting this program, has started the cycle over. Being supported and included by the staff and teachers, I suspect the reemergence to be even more beautiful than before. All learned behaviors created by the previous experience can be worked as time go on, until then I know my child is safe, seems happy and enjoys the time spent there.
