After going to an alterations shop that said they couldn't sew on the strap of my faux leather…read morebackpack, I found RM Leathers on Yelp. They used to have a brick & mortar shop, but they now work from the back shed of their house. At first, I was hesitant when I saw that the business was in a residential neighborhood. When we pulled up, there was a "RM Leathers" sign on the mailbox and front door. I called and said I was there and the owner came out to meet me. I brought my husband because I wasn't sure what to expect, but when owner Teo opened the door, we realized that he's my husband's friend from soccer. Such a small world! Teo (pronounced tay-o -- Greek name), is SO sweet, efficient, and talented. He took only thirty minutes to sew the straps back on my backpack. He's affordable and you can call or text him to drop-off or pick-up items. Him and his wife run this business, creating leather jackets for motorcyclists. They attend a lot of conferences around the country to mend leather for these riders. It was such an unexpectedly great experience and I've already recommended him to a few friends! He has a sweet family and I love giving my money to deserving people like this fam!

RM Leathers = Miracle Workers!…read more I unfortunately spilled salad dressing (OIL) on my beloved Frye boots. I live in Chicago and went to three leather specialists who told me there was no hope. I called Frye and they said there's nothing that can be done w/o ruining the leather (seriously your boots are $500 and you can't help me - but that's another story). A friend told me about RM Leathers and I happened to be going to Indy for the holidays. Teo & Liz are true professionals and won't steer you wrong. Teo was very thorough in explaining that they'd clean and treat the stain - my boots are BEAUTIFUL - no stain! And their prices are very reasonable - they saved my boots when others told me it was a lost cause.

The shop was crowded during my weekend visit with people buying college and sports logo hats and accessories. Checkered race theme hats and shirts filled the store and were popular. I liked the Indiana shaped leather pieces that are made in house. The items are unique. The accessories make great gifts, but the caps were pricy at $50 each. Although I left empty handed, I'll probably return for gifts. The staff were friendly, but busy with customers during my visit. The checkout lines were long. We found nearby free street parking.

I knew I had to visit his local shop in Noblesville to see what else he had to offer. Although this is a newer business and there wasn't a lot in the store, I was still amazed by all the handmade concoctions for beard oils, lotions, soaps, etc. My husband thanked me for making him aware of this place and he said that he would no longer buy the oils he was used to buying online and would now shop at the Rugged Company. Support local! There are leather cuffs, t-shirts, art, etc in this eclectic space. You have to go just to see all the great stuff he has, not to mention his homemade coffee. I'm excited to see what else he has up his sleeves and to see more inventory in his store as the months go by. Go check out The Rugged Company - your man will thank you! :)

The European brands they carry were not familiar to me, and in many cases it's best if you try them on to understand sizing and what style will best flatter your shape. Not only does Michele know her inventory extremely well, she is very positive, affirming and she listens well to your feedback and concerns. The clothes are not inexpensive, so be prepared. I would say the entry point is probably $200, But as we all have learned, a clothing investment is worth it when you find the vision you seek. You will feel great, and multiple wearings make your investment pay off. Allow yourself some time to carefully look through their inventory. They have more items than most small stores carry--from Eileen Fisher to German and Italian lines that were unfamiliar--but amazingly comfortable and flattering. All in all, the shop is well worth a visit If you need wardrobe enhancement to look your best.

I'm excited to see Athletic Annex has opened a location in Clay Terrace!…read more I first visited the Nora location a few years ago for a gait analysis and fitting and had a great experience. I've been loyal to the Asics Gel Nimbus for a few years, until the brand changed the style of the shoe into more of a Hoka. So, it was time to go back to Athletic Annex and find something new. Depending on the day of the week and time of day, you may be helped immediately or need to wait a bit. I was greeted by an employee who had me step on the foot analysis machine and walk on the treadmill to analyze my gait. They had just received new AI technology. She went over the results and pulled a number of shoes for me to try. Athletic Annex sells all the top brands -- Hoka, Brooks, On Clouds, Asics, New Balance, etc. I think it's well worth it to come to a running store like this (even if you're not a runner, like me) to see what is going to be best for you and your feet. My only comment is I was hoping for the sales associate to be more knowledgeable about the shoes and guide me through the process a bit more. For example: what made her select those shoes for me to try, what are the differences, what should I notice when walking in them around the store, etc. Personal preference on what I'm looking for in my shoe buying experience!

If you get on their email list, they will send you information on special sales and events. They do not overburden you with emails. Parking is a bear in front of the store in Clay Terrace. Parking in the back is a little easier.
