I like the location. Having moved here from Oregon, it felt a little like home. Coffees are good. Not too sweet, which I prefer. They have several kinds of sweetener to choose from so people can sweeten to taste. Good cookies. Ground coffee is pricey, but good. We get the pecan sticky bun or cinnamon coffee cake. They have lots of different syrups, and a really good selection of sugar free syrups. They have oat and almond milk. No soy milk, which is surprising. I wish they offered soy milk. The only issues I have is that they close the lower level an hour before they close the shop. Something I didn't know until the employee started vacuuming around us and told us to move. They also had locked the side door, meaning we had to walk up the stairs, even though one of us is disabled and walks with a cane. That's why we entered from the lower level door. The lack of empathy was pretty shocking. If you're open until 5, you should be open until 5 on both levels. Pretty disappointed. read more

It's a nice spot the food and coffee is good. The only thing I don't like is it caters more to take out for people on the run. I asked for a latte in a mug which the cashier refused stating lattes and cappuccinos will not be served in porcelain mugs which were clearly sitting on the counter. Although I saw a couple negative reviews regarding customer service, every time I've come here the customer service has been good. I walk up to the counter, order my coffee, get my drink, and leave. I don't expect the staff to act like disneyland greeters lol. I'm just in town visiting, but out of all the coffee shops in peoria... Leaves n Beans is the place I find myself going to every morning. For one, I think their coffee is fantastic. Their menu of drinks is so vast and fun---blended drinks, matcha, chai, cold brew, lattes, energy drinks etc. I personally get the oatchata with a shot of espresso and it's delicious. My friend got the raspberry chai and it was also extremely good. Another thing I like about this place is the prices. A large cold brew is $5 and it's not like starbucks where 3/4 of it is ice for $7. Best deal for coffee that i've found in peoria. If you love to eat hair, this is the place for you. I came here a few months ago and got the chicken caesar salad wrap, it was good for the first few bites, until I felt a hair in my mouth. I looked at the wrap and there was another hair. Either, there were two hairs, or I bit into the first one and broke it into two. Incredible. I was grossed out and did not finish my wrap, I went back and told them what happened and asked for a refund. They were very understanding and reimbursed me, so I will give them that for good customer service. Today, I went again, thinking that must have been some kind of fluke, and I wanted to give them another try. I got the chicken caesar salad wrap again, it was absolutely delicious, until I got to the very last bite, there it was - ANOTHER hair. I pulled it out of my mouth, it was squiggly looking and reddish-blondish. And I know it wasn't mine, because my hair is black and very straight. It was pretty gross. I didn't go back for a refund this time because I had already eaten it. I wonder if I ate any more hairs before I found that one. It's a shame because it was a pretty good wrap besides that. Maybe the employees need to wear hairnets or something, I don't know. I just honestly can't believe it happened to me TWICE! Review Visit: October 1st, 2018 Leaves 'n Beans will leaf you wanting more. I previously visited the Leaves 'n Beans Coffee in Peoria that was located near Bradley University. That location has since closed. My thought process at the time was that if a small business has multiple locations, I will try just one and that will be good enough. With time, I've realized that each location can offer a different experience and unique memories. So, if a small business has multiple uniquely-styled locations, I will try them out. That leads us to the Leaves 'n Beans in Peoria Heights. This is the one that everyone told me to try when I first started traveling. Well, six years later, here we are. This location is housed in a house. Really. It is a unique coffeehouse that operates out of an old house. I've been to a coffeehouses that are in converted houses and they are some of my favorite. They have that charm of a well-worn house and have a charm that a new building just doesn't have. This one is no exception. You can flip through the few photos I posted to get that feeling. The house has a porch and some outdoor seating available. So, if you come on a gorgeous day, you can soak up some sun and caffeine at the same time. It was decently packed outside, so I didn't want to take any photos out of respect for the people relaxing. Some of the walls are painted from top to bottom, which I assume is done by local artists, which is always cool. There is a downstairs that is equally cozy, if not more than the upstairs. There are tons of couches to sit on. There is a shelf full of books. I'm not sure if you can read those, but I did not see any signs saying otherwise. But how was the coffee? Pretty great. I got an iced White Knight (white chocolate mocha). While I regret getting it iced since I think the flavor would've been even better warmed, it still hit the spot. There is a Mayan Mocha that is made with Ghost Pepper that I am going to come back and try some day. I love spicy stuff and that seems like a decent challenge. They offer baked goods and an impressively large menu. While the baked goods behind the glass looked tantalizing, as did the menu items, I had just come from a work meeting where we had food served, so my belly only had room for coffee. Customer Service was top notch. The two baristas working were very friendly and they struck up a conversation with my friend and I while our drinks were being prepared. If Peoria Heights is a bit out of your range, you'll be happy to know that there is a Leaves 'n Beans Coffee in Morton, IL as well. I definitely think they are worth checking out if you like great coffee. Maybe next time I will go with an empty belly and get some food to cool my mouth after a Mayan Mocha. read more

Went here while in town for a wedding. My hot latte was pretty good. My wife did not like her iced latte. The breakfast sandwich was alright, but pretty middle of the road. The location itself is kind of neat. I appreciate old houses that have been renovated for a place of business. Service was alright. If I was in town again I wouldn't be afraid to go back, but I might lean towards being adventurous and try someplace else for the "new experience factor." read more

I went recently to the Pekin location. The lady who took my order did a great job. My chai latte tasted great. Unfortunately, while I was waiting for my drink( I came at a busy time. ), another customer had an issue with hard avocados on her sandwich. The male worker who took the complaint ended up raising his voice at the customer. This put a damper on my visit and makes me reconsider going to the Pekin location again. I will note that I haven't had any bad experiences at the other locations, and I normally don't have bad experiences at this one. read more

I have been coming here since I was a freshman in high-school, and probably won't stop until they close. This is the coziest coffee spot in town and is surrounded by lots of cool places to eat, shop, and they often have live music at the plaza. It is on the expensive side, However the coffee has always been fairly priced per portion and it is a great place to eat too! They work out of a small house kitchen so be patient please! The downstairs has a large couched seating area and the wall murals are so timeless and comfortable. They have two patios, and they have two levels. I like to sit and read here or study here, and eventually grab some food, I don't know when the tower is open to the public, but they have a playground diagonally across under the heights tower, the cutest book stores, and eclectic shops, restaurants and bars all down this block. It's one of my favorite places in town and I recommend it it 100% Hopefully not to sound too petty but i read a shocking review that said this place is dirty, and that coffee is bitter? Uh....let me go ahead and squash that review, since it seems personal rather than productive. The house converted into shop is underneath trees, and has a butter yellow color so what may look dirty is not i assure you. I myself am a bit of a germaphobe and have never seen an unclean table sit for longer than a minute. I even seen them wipe down the sofas. They never mentioned WHAT was dirty either so i covered everything important. They also have a sugar and creamer, and flavor pump self dispensing table to the side of the counter so that everyone can have theirs to taste if they order a regular coffee regardless of the many flavor combinations and ways to prepare it listed on the board, from sweet, to kinda spicy in a delicious way in the mayan. I appreciate the taste of coffee not being smothered by sugar and flavoring. Coffee is by nature of the product...bitter. So if they do not like coffee being bitter, i love their chai drinks too and highly recommend them especially in fall, they often have an apple chai latte which i adore. read more

Cool small place for coffee and breakfast. It's one of the hidden places in Peoria Heights. Leaves N Beans is a little place to hang out and do work. Kind of small, meaning not much room for groups. They have a pretty limited menu of coffee and food items. A pretty good place if looking for a quiet breakfast. It has a rather limited menu. There's only a few coffees that you get out of the pots in front of you. It's $2.75 for a drip coffee. They had one that was blueberry flavor. As for the food, there's also limited choices. Few vegan friendly items. At least it helped us choose. We got the Avocado Toast. It's about $3 for something fast and basic. This is pretty much just some bread with avocado and seasoning. Good but it only has a few coffees. It's a good place for doing work because usually it's quiet. The only vegan food is the Avocado Toast and there's not a whole lot else that's cheap though. read more

I am a long time peoria Heights resident who used to frequent this shop. Lately over the last year or so I feel as tho every time I come in the employees are so rude and make me feel like an inconvenience to them. today I went for the first time in a while decided to give it another try. The man behind the counter was so annoyed by our presence it seemed.. talking about "since we close at 2" well it was 115 pm. one of the last times I went I tried to order the special drink that had previously been the Whitney's walk drink speical it was not on the menu anymore. it was white macadamia and vanilla. I ordered it in an iced latte the lady refused to make it since it wasn't on the menu.. I went online and ordered it. just an iced latte with the 2 syrups. It wasn't a big deal but she was being ignorant and rude. They also offer a "discount" to first responders/ nurses however every time I ask I get declined even tho I am an RN and have came in my uniform on my lunch break. I don't think I will Continue to support this small business as they don't appreciate customers esp long time Ones who have been supporting them for years. read more

You may have realized by now... I kind of love coffee! Similar to how bees love flowers. I sorta need it to survive! When I go on trips I like to find local coffee places and support small businesses. I did a search for local coffee places and discovered this adorable spot! It's set in Peoria Heights which would remind any Gilmore Girls fan of Stars Hollow. You can either go in through a side lower level entrance or through the front porch entrance, which is super cute! I immediately knew I'd like it because of the adorable signs everywhere. It smells wonderful and their staff is super friendly! They offer a lot of options for food and coffee. Both my boyfriend and I really enjoyed our drinks. He got regular iced coffee and I got the "Sugar Daddy" which is caramel and hazelnut flavored. The only the thing I'd want is for the flavors (including the coffee itself) to be a bit stronger, but that's really my only issue! If you're ever in the area, make sure to stop in here! read more

What a fantastic find in Peoria Heights! It was just a few blocks from our Airbnb, so we went every day to check out what their specialty muffins were. All cookies and muffins are made from scratch and are the best muffins we have ever tasted! Two days ago it was a cherry chocolate, yesterday was lemon raspberry, and today was truffle (white chocolate, dark chocolate, and caramel). Okay, I admit, I can't do this every day, so brought the truffle one home for the freezer, but the other two were out of this world. Their international coffees are fantastic, too. The place has outdoor seating in the shade, with room for dogs. We met other dog owners while there, making it so much fun. And they are a welcoming business, so LBGTQ are as welcome as CIS folks. read more

As this is a frequent visited place for me, I am shocked at the service I was provided by the owner here. I brought my puppy inside because the little sticker on the very bottom of the door was not something I noticed when coming inside. Upon ordering, the owner approached my family saying we couldn't have the dog inside. I apologized and said I understand. We were paying for our coffee so I was going to go outside after paying. She then said "you need to leave now!". She was the most disrespectful person, especially for an owner of an establishment. Not once did she ask me if he was a service dog, she just made an assumption. The worst service by far, and I hope her staff was trained better than what she provides to people. read more

I worked here for maybe two months and the boss Cherie is the most rude and disrespectful people I have ever worked for. The way she talked to me (25) the way she talks to her employees (mostly teens), and the way she would text us in our work group chat was disgusting and unprofessional. I simply asked her in a message where she had come across in a rude and demanding way if she could just be nicer and more respectful. I gave her examples of how she could ask questions nicely and asked if she could say please and thank you. I told her that she can say anything she has to say in a nice way. After calling me into her office and praising me for my work ethic she fired me for "insubordination". She said "there's a problem with me and you so I'm going to have to let you go." Even if I had misunderstood her tone, the fact that she responded so immaturely and defensively speaks volumes. I'm just asking you to be nice...you can't just be nice? I did say that I am not insubordinate for expressing my feelings and asking her to be respectful. She's grabbed employees by the collars of their shirts. She reprimands her managers in front of customers and employees. She changes peoples schedules multiples times and doesn't let them know. She's changed my schedule an hour before I had to be at work and made it so I had to be in, in the next 30 mins. She has rescheduled me to work a shift that I wasn't previously working before even asking me if I could. She has taken shifts from me and not said anything. One time I was cutting tomatoes and she got mad because I wasn't paying full attention to her...because I had a knife in my hand. She started berating me in front of my coworker about how Im being disrespectful. I expressed to her in a very calm way (in front of cameras so you could see I wasn't yelling or freaking out) that she can say anything she needs to say in a nice way and she responded with "well I'm the boss and you have to do what I say." She proceeded to wave her hand at me, walk away, and ignore me after I told her "I am just sharing my feelings with her and if you can't handle that, thats a problem." I told her she was acting unprofessionally. She then went on to lie about this situation and say I was screaming at her...again, you can check the cameras and see that this is untrue. Thankfully the coworkers that were there and saw the interaction know the truth and were able to express that and validate me and my experience. I have never once yelled at her because I knew that no matter how valid what I had to say was if I yelled at her or snapped at her in the way that she would do to her employees she would fire me immediately. This is not the first time she's been spoken to about the way she treats people. Employees have expressed to her that the way she treats her staff is bad. She has banned people and then talked nasty about them to her staff. Most of the time I wasn't even getting more than $200 on a paycheck, I would consistently get less than 20 hours a week despite the fact that she knows I'm a grown adult that has bills to pay. She would say that she'd schedule me more hours and then cut my hours. She makes people feel bad. People are afraid to speak up because of how she'll respond or because they know it won't make a difference. There's also no HR to go to and get the support you need. The business itself is fine but it's really just her thats the problem. Its just wild to me that instead of being a normal decent human being who uses critical thinking and thinks "maybe I am the problem" or "maybe I did do something wrong" she just gets defensive. Im not expecting anyone to stop giving Leaves n Beans business I just want people to know the truth about Cherie. And I HIGHLY do NOT recommend that anyone works there while she is in charge because you will have one of the worst job experiences. And she doesn't even know how to make a cappuccino. read more

My fiance and I just moved from the Chicago area and we weren't expecting to find any good or quirky coffee shops. I was really surprised by the unique flavor options and the prices. Honestly this is probably the cheapest coffee I've ever bought outside of gas stations or little breakfast joints. Less than $4 for a 12oz. I ordered the Sugar Daddy which is a caramel and hazelnut latte. It is THE BEST latte I've ever had! The seating is super comfy as well, lots of couches and arm chairs to chill in.
