    oatchata with shot of espresso

Although I saw a couple negative reviews regarding customer service, every time I've come here the customer service has been good. I walk up to the counter, order my coffee, get my drink, and leave. I don't expect the staff to act like disneyland greeters lol. I'm just in town visiting, but out of all the coffee shops in peoria... Leaves n Beans is the place I find myself going to every morning. For one, I think their coffee is fantastic. Their menu of drinks is so vast and fun---blended drinks, matcha, chai, cold brew, lattes, energy drinks etc. I personally get the oatchata with a shot of espresso and it's delicious. My friend got the raspberry chai and it was also extremely good. Another thing I like about this place is the prices. A large cold brew is $5 and it's not like starbucks where 3/4 of it is ice for $7. Best deal for coffee that i've found in peoria. Lastly, this shop has a lot of seating, outdoor, upstairs, and downstairs available.

Review Visit: October 1st, 2018 Leaves 'n Beans will leaf you wanting more. I previously visited the Leaves 'n Beans Coffee in Peoria that was located near Bradley University. That location has since closed. My thought process at the time was that if a small business has multiple locations, I will try just one and that will be good enough. With time, I've realized that each location can offer a different experience and unique memories. So, if a small business has multiple uniquely-styled locations, I will try them out. That leads us to the Leaves 'n Beans in Peoria Heights. This is the one that everyone told me to try when I first started traveling. Well, six years later, here we are. This location is housed in a house. Really. It is a unique coffeehouse that operates out of an old house. I've been to a coffeehouses that are in converted houses and they are some of my favorite. They have that charm of a well-worn house and have a charm that a new building just doesn't have. This one is no exception. You can flip through the few photos I posted to get that feeling. The house has a porch and some outdoor seating available. So, if you come on a gorgeous day, you can soak up some sun and caffeine at the same time. It was decently packed outside, so I didn't want to take any photos out of respect for the people relaxing. Some of the walls are painted from top to bottom, which I assume is done by local artists, which is always cool. There is a downstairs that is equally cozy, if not more than the upstairs. There are tons of couches to sit on. There is a shelf full of books. I'm not sure if you can read those, but I did not see any signs saying otherwise. But how was the coffee? Pretty great. I got an iced White Knight (white chocolate mocha). While I regret getting it iced since I think the flavor would've been even better warmed, it still hit the spot. There is a Mayan Mocha that is made with Ghost Pepper that I am going to come back and try some day. I love spicy stuff and that seems like a decent challenge. They offer baked goods and an impressively large menu. While the baked goods behind the glass looked tantalizing, as did the menu items, I had just come from a work meeting where we had food served, so my belly only had room for coffee. Customer Service was top notch. The two baristas working were very friendly and they struck up a conversation with my friend and I while our drinks were being prepared. If Peoria Heights is a bit out of your range, you'll be happy to know that there is a Leaves 'n Beans Coffee in Morton, IL as well. I definitely think they are worth checking out if you like great coffee. Maybe next time I will go with an empty belly and get some food to cool my mouth after a Mayan Mocha.

Quaint little place in Peoria. I'm diggin' it. Not sure why it only has 3.7 overall stars as of this review but I'm giving 5... cool vibes, an abundance of selections, fast service, and reasonable prices...

Cool small place for coffee and breakfast. It's one of the hidden places in Peoria Heights. Leaves N Beans is a little place to hang out and do work. Kind of small, meaning not much room for groups. They have a pretty limited menu of coffee and food items. A pretty good place if looking for a quiet breakfast. It has a rather limited menu. There's only a few coffees that you get out of the pots in front of you. It's $2.75 for a drip coffee. They had one that was blueberry flavor. As for the food, there's also limited choices. Few vegan friendly items. At least it helped us choose. We got the Avocado Toast. It's about $3 for something fast and basic. This is pretty much just some bread with avocado and seasoning. Good but it only has a few coffees. It's a good place for doing work because usually it's quiet. The only vegan food is the Avocado Toast and there's not a whole lot else that's cheap though.

You may have realized by now... I kind of love coffee! Similar to how bees love flowers. I sorta need it to survive! When I go on trips I like to find local coffee places and support small businesses. I did a search for local coffee places and discovered this adorable spot! It's set in Peoria Heights which would remind any Gilmore Girls fan of Stars Hollow. You can either go in through a side lower level entrance or through the front porch entrance, which is super cute! I immediately knew I'd like it because of the adorable signs everywhere. It smells wonderful and their staff is super friendly! They offer a lot of options for food and coffee. Both my boyfriend and I really enjoyed our drinks. He got regular iced coffee and I got the "Sugar Daddy" which is caramel and hazelnut flavored. The only the thing I'd want is for the flavors (including the coffee itself) to be a bit stronger, but that's really my only issue! If you're ever in the area, make sure to stop in here!

Inside we were seated immediately and the booths were very comfortable. Service was great. Very attentive staff. The waitress suggested we try the "award winning" Mac and cheese. It was seriously delicious! It has huge chunks of bacon in it, with a ritz cracker crumble on top... Highly recommend it, as it was our fav part of the meal! My son and I both had a bacon cheddar burger with fries. It's served with candied bacon on a pretzel bun. Very good. My husband had the Philly cheese steak and Cajun fries. Large portions and everything was good.

Review Visit: October 28th, 2014…read more If you are a diner aficionado, do not confuse yourself. Yes, there is two diners in Illinois that have nearly the same name. This one is THE 50's Diner located in Peoria, IL and the other is THAT 50's Diner in Dwight, IL. The similarities do not end there. They are both themed from the 1950s. They have a big love of Elvis and other 1950's stuff decorating the diner. That's about where it ends. Matt, Tim, and I rolled up on a sunny autumn afternoon for some nostalgic trip. Not that we were alive in the 50's but it is always fun to visit a place themed after a time period one isn't alive for. I am still waiting for someone to open a Cafe 80's modeled after the one from Back to the Future II. This diner was screaming 50's from the moment we walked in. Black and white color scheme for the seating. 50's decor and memorabilia lining the walls and counters. A menu that screams styling from the time. But none of that matters in the end. It's the food. The menu emhpasizes the Loosey Sammich and that is just what I ordered. While looking over the menu, I did notice they served curly fries, which seems like a rarity outside of Hardee's/Carl Jrs. The diner wasn't busy so our server was timely and our food was delivered after a short while. The food was served in those plastic baskets with wax paper (but sometimes served on plates). To me, I enjoy food being delivered in those things. Why, only foggy childhood memories can explain. The food was dropped in front of us and the Loosey sandwich was... not appealing. I'm not sure what I was expecting but it if you've read enough of these blog posts, you know I save my judgment for how it tastes, not how it looks. Chomp. Chomp. A few bites in and my mouth ran in to dryness without flavor to cover it up. The sandwich was somehow disappointing despite being their signature sandwich. I am going to guess that the meat was sitting in a warmer and dried out. Ah, what a bummer. The fries were good, at least. I've been back a few times with my friend Maria for random breakfasts and lunches and the food from those visits mirrored my first experience here. Bland. Not to say the food is awful or should be avoided, but don't expect anything to make you crave coming back time and time again. But, on the other hand, maybe you'll love the place. Don't let me bland experience deter you from checking it out. Maybe my taste buds are compatible with the 50's. Ah, but this isnt the end of this blog. Nope, one little thing left to talk about. There is a store that takes up the right side of The 50's Diner. Yes, you heard it here. A store. I've browsed the merchandise for sale and I am not sure if this store is a consignment-based or what. The assortment of items is rather eclectic. There's novelty candy, jewelry, random clothes, and other odds and ends. It kind of makes visiting here exciting because you just never know what they will have on sale.

Cute little diner. Good size portions. Large and think pancakes. Ordered the Mega skillet.read more
