Specialties
Here at Ledgeway Farm we make wonderfully moisturizing all-natural goat milk soap using pure and/or organic base oils that are responsibly sourced and our own farm fresh goat milk. Our large bars (6.5 - 7.0 oz) are scented with pure essential oils and colored with only natural clays or root powders. We love being members of the "Greener Life Club" ensuring that our ingredients are Animal Friendly, Bio Healthy, Fair Trade whenever possible, and leave a small Carbon Footprint.
Our happy, healthy herd of registered Alpine dairy goats enjoy 15 acres of land to live, play, and feed on at our farm in Pittston Maine.
We are blessed to be a fifth generation family farm and couldn't imagine doing anything else - it's in our blood.
History
Established in 2016.
I was raised on our multi generation family farm in Maine; showing dairy cattle on the Maine Agricultural Fair Circuit. Ledgeway Farm is located on 15 acres of the original farm (which is still in the family).
We'd been using goat milk soap for a few years and found it to be much better then commercial soaps, but still lacking all the qualities we wanted out of soap. So after taking some classes, and doing a boat load of research, we came up with our own luxuriously moisturizing goat milk soap recipe.
In 2016 we started selling goat milk soap at a few agricultural fairs and shows and we were very well recieved, people were seeking us out and shared many great stories of how it has helped them.
We know produce much larger volumes of soap, and sell our products at many agricultural fairs, craft fairs and shows, off our website, and we wholesale to many stores in the State of Maine.
We are very blessed to be able to do what we love each day, and very grateful for our opportunities.
Meet the Business Owner: Sarah P.
My parents were both from multi-generational farm families, and both showed dairy cattle on the Maine fair circuit - so no surprise that I did too, and I loved every minute of it.
I married young, and put a house up on 15 acres of the family farm, had 2 children, and unfortunately was also widowed at a very young age. I worked at a full-time career for over 20 years, with additional part-time jobs on the weekends to feed my family, but it wasn't feeding my soul.
in 2015 I remarried, cut back to one full-time job, started farming again, and discovered a love for natural products, imparticular goat milk soap.
After seeing the positive effects our goat milk soap was having in my family, and my friends families, we started selling it at a few agricultural fairs and shows, with great success.
We now produce much larger volumes of goat milk soap right here on our farm, and sell it at many agricultural fairs, shows, craft fairs, on or website, and wholesale to 17 different store fronts.
