Last week was my final time patronizing this salon; I was treated very poorly, being yelled at by a very dishonest owner.... Lee is very dishonest, discourteous, and not a good business man! When I first went to this nail salon, it was not through a recommendation, so I didn't know which girl would do a good job. I told Lee (the owner) that I want a regular manicure but since my cuticles grow a lot, I need someone who can do a very thorough job with the cuticles. He assigned me to a woman named Coco who did a phenomenal job, as he said she would! When I called to make an appt with Coco the following week, he told me that she no longer worked there, so he suggested Sophia, who also did a great job the first two times I went to her. However, I guess she became complacent and slacked off the next few times, and always seemed tired and lacking enthusiasm, and my mani & pedis were affected by her lack of enthusiasm, so I tried a couple of other women in the salon. Tracy, who is Lee's wife, does a good job, but I could never recommend anyone else in the salon besides Tracy or Lee as far doing a good job. Usually, when I request Lee, he tells me he's busy at whatever time I request. But last week, since Tracy was off, Lee agreed to do my mani/pedi because I told him I didn't want anyone else. I had my manicure first, and just as he was getting the pedi sink ready for me, he filled it up with water, and a regular customer walked in and requested him to fix one nail (I guess it was gel or something like that), so Lee asked if he can do fix her nail before my pedicure so I asked him how long it would take and he told me "five minutes", so I said sure, go ahead and fix her nail first, and I purposely took note of the time on the wall clock. Well, after 20 minutes, I said to him, "You told me it was going to take 5 minutes, and it's 20 minutes already!". He denied that it was 20 minutes but he told me he will be done in a minute. After a total of 25 minutes, he still argued with me that it was not 25 minutes, and he claimed it was 10 minutes! Believe me, it was 25 minutes! As the woman whose nail he fixed was leaving, she thanked me for letting him take care of her first...and she said that was very nice of me, and told me to enjoy my pedicure, and her parting words to me as she walked out the door, while Lee was sitting at the pedicure chair proceeding with my pedicure, "Your pedicure is on me!". I didn't think it was necessary but it was a very nice gesture on her part. So, I said to Lee, "That's very nice of her to pay for my pedicure", and he said to me, "Yeah, she's very nice!". As it turned out, when Sophia rung the woman up, and took her cash, the woman had left a $50 bill and did not ask for change. So, Sophia had some exchange with Lee about it, and Lee asked Sophia if she didn't ask for change? Sophia shook her head and said "no!" After my pedicure, I dried for about 5 minutes, and I was getting ready to pay, so I said to Lee, "So I just owe $8 for my manicure because the woman paid for my pedicure?". So, he told me, "You had a manicure and pedicure, so you pay $20!!" So, I reminded him that the woman paid for my pedicure already, and asked him why he's making me pay if she already paid? He was arguing and screaming at me that the woman did not say it to HIM, she only said it to ME!!! We went back and forth arguing the point! And then another girl that works in the salon said to ME, "It's only $15, not a big deal"...and she proceeded to tell me that the woman comes in every week and he has to give her change from her $50, and if she tells HIM to take out for my pedicure, he will refund my money! That is pure BS!!!! He heard her, and Sophia heard her also...She said it as plain as day, and when I asked Sophia if she heard the woman tell me that my pedicure was on her, she just looked at me with a blank expression, and would not say a word! Lee was sitting right at the pedicure chair with me when the woman said it, and if I heard the woman say it, he HAD to have heard her as well. And Sophia also reacted with a facial expression when the woman said it. Lee just wanted to double dip and get paid for my pedicure twice! He's full of BS and not an honest business person. I handed him a $20 bill for the mani/pedi, without a tip! I will never know the outcome of his conversation with the woman when she goes back to the salon, because I have no intention of returning to patronize this salon ever again! I went to two much nicer salons over the past few months, and they are both much nicer salons than Lee's Bayside Nails. I'd rather pay two or three dollars more for a mani/pedi and be respected and treated like a valued customer. From the other reviews on here, I see I am not the only one who has had a bad experience with him being dishonest and/or yelling at customers! I guess that's just his M-O. read more
