And once again my nails are destroyed. They look terrible after a gel/powder manicure I just had done today. The nail technician over-filed my nails and I even mentioned it while I was there. She ignored me and kept filing away. My nails are so short that they hurt. The cuticles were barely cut and the nail polish is lumpy and uneven. I just wanted a nice manicure before I went away and instead my nails look terrible. I was looking forward to getting them done because they looked messy for so long. Went on a Saturday afternoon with an appointment. When I first walked in I was concerned because they were VERY busy but I am pleasantly suprised by my overall experience. I got a regular manicure for $12 (before tip). They have an impressive selection of nail colors. My nail tech made sure to use new cuticle cutter & files. Cuticle care was not the best Ive ever had but was done quickly & cleanly without breaking skin. Would definitely consider going back for a quick manicure read more

Was able to get an appointment last minute on a Sunday. When I arrived they were very busy! I think they could've done a better job soaking and cutting my cuticles. I know it's not everyone's preference but they can ask! Otherwise, for sns powder, Oscar nails is the most affordable and bang for your buck! Recommend! read more

As a giver of second chances I gave them another chance a year later.... I know many people in the neighborhood come here for regular polish so I tried again... Wish I didn't do it! I have been coming to Oscars since they only had the francis lewis blvd location. They have always done a solid powder gel manicure that lasts which is why I've looked past their quirks such as rude techs, techs hounding over you waiting impatiently and staring as you pick a color, prep steps (cuticle cutting, cleaning under the nails) being skipped, being rushed out of the chair etc. For the simple fact the powder gel there actually lasts me a month I kept coming back. But with the prices they charge the quality of service they're giving is becoming unacceptable. I walked in on Friday afternoon for a powder gel french manicure, I had a wedding on Sunday. The technician applying the french did it very haphazardly, none of the nails were matching. I wanted to check them out so I could have her even them out before curing, and every time I tried looking at my nails she kept shoving my hand into the UV light. When my nails were cured and I could finally get a good look at them, I politely pointed out that the french was messy on some fingers and asked if she could clean it up. She had an attitude about it and rushed fixing it too. By Sunday my thumb had already chipped, and now other fingers have too. When you can't walk out of this place without spending at least $100 I think this is a little ridiculous. Especially knowing if I went back to have them fix it I would be met with more attitude. Oscars does decent nails but don't come here expecting good service, they are so inconsistent, some days they are so nice and take their time and other days they are so rude and completely rush you out. It's not worth the money anymore. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Some girl named Winnie did my nails I asked for a new set and she did them so disgustingly thick and rushed throughout the whole process. She at first cut the tips too short so I kindly asked her to redo and ask me what length I want instead of cutting it how short she wanted it. They were all talking about me and being passive aggressive. I felt so uncomfortable I didn't even ask for a design or anything. As a matter of fact I initially asked for almond but since I wasn't sure of her work, I made it easier for her to just do a short soft natural square length. She didn't even clean my cuticles and then laughed at me when I tipped her. The girl that usually does my nails wasn't there. I paid over 100 dollars for something at the end I hated. Hidden gem in the Bayside neighborhood!! I used to look for a manicurist in Long Island that I followed him for few year, but that is a far trip for me. But Oscar nail salon did surprise me . I gave her a picture of set design , they really did a great job ! Look for Julie or Ting ting , both is awesome and very nice! For a nail design , they really listening and discuss with u . please avoid. It started peeling after 1 day. Now all the tips of my nails are raised and things are getting stuck between my nail bed and the polish. They make you wait 20-30 mins even with reservations. They reuse tools without cleaning them. They constantly shout across the room in chinese on their own while with customers. Horrible service, poor hygiene practices, longevity is horrible. I should go in and get them redone cuz it lasted less than 1 day. But they are all unpleasant I do not want to visit them ever again. read more

I used to go here and loved them. Recently started going back and my powder nails crack within 2 days of getting them done . Hasn't even been 2 weeks and i have bandaids on my nails to help prevent them from breaking before i can get my nails done again somewhere else. I even go back to get them fixed once they crack and still happens afterwards. It's so inconvenient to go back to get your nails fixed specially when it is more than once . This is my 4th time going and it has happened every-time . I will not be going back . Also my nails never ever have cracked with powder before going there . read more

When it comes to nails, I'm very low maintenance. I prefer to have bare nails and if I'm feeling spontaneous I would give myself a simple manicure. For this reason, I find nail salons a waste of money. However, this place was close to home so I decided why not give it a try. I called ahead to make sure they were opened by the time I got there and the phone call was quite unprofessional. I asked for their hours of operation and the woman on the phone answered my question with another question about what type of nails I wanted. I told her a regular manicure and she replied "come now". A regular manicure is $12. Service was good and the place was clean. My technician was friendly and did a good job. They have an array of colors to choose from but I prefer to bring my own. All the tools used were single use which I thought was very hygienic and posed a lesser risk of contamination. Overall, I definitely like this place better than the one I use to go to. read more

I go in today with the intentions of getting halloween inspired nails, and something very simple at that. All I wanted was two drips to emulate drops of blood (very simple). I even showed her a photo to make it easier. She didn't even try! All she kept telling me was that she could only do it if it was gel, which doesn't make any sense at all. All she had to do was do the outline and fill it in. Instead she did a thicker line and thought that was good enough. I don't know if she was in a rush or what (because it was busy). Even so I gave a $10 tip (which was beyond generous!) definitely should have given less. Safe to say I would not be going there again, especially if they are not going to give more of an effort to a paying customer. read more

I will not be going back!!! I went in to get my nails done for the holiday. I showed the lady a pic of the nails I wanted. She said okay she can do it. Then she instructed me it will be $97 DOLLARS. ( because it would be acrylic plus the gel manicure). I was shocked but I had a $50 gift certificate and I thought I would splurge on myself for the holiday. She started on my nails clipped them rubbed them with a cloth and start gluing the acrylics. She did nothing to my cuticles. She finished with in about 35-40 min with my nails and the result shows. The lines in the design are crooked and the outline doesn't go all the way up the nail there is a gap. I would highly recommend to not spend your money here. Not only was she on the phone texting without excusing herself but she seemed to just want to rush me out and do the bare minimum. The professionalism was atrocious. I had been wanting to give this spot a try for a long while now it looks very pretty from the outside and as well from inside when I arrived I did not have an appointment but they said no problem just 10 min, well if you live in the area you know the meters only run for 2 hours max on bell 30 min later I was still waiting before they took me but thankfully they got to me ... my pedicure was average and my manicure was average but my polish job was definitely below average maybe the polish was old it is drying with some little bumps and some streaks. so, I am sad to say I probably won't be back anytime soon but it seemed clean and yes new and nice read more

All of the staff are great. You really can't go wrong. Open, spacious, clean, quick. Any of their estheticians are professional and really good at what they do. They don't pass you around to others for different nail services, so you're with one person for your mani and your pedi, meaning you don't have to tip more than one person. They're very time efficient, too. They get it done well and get it done quickly. read more

I picked this place because of the reviews, and I'm happy I did. They did a great job. There wasn't much of a wait. I told them I was short on time because I had a flight later that day, and the girls got my sister and me finished quickly but still did a great job. This place has spa pedicure (ranges from $25-$70) packages. You pick a particular pedicure and then you get a manicure and massage (ranges from 8 minutes to 25 minutes) for free! That's pretty cool. I originally thought they only had packages, but that's not the case. After I realized that, the owner was able to give me a special package price for getting gel versus a regular manicure. Let's start off that the staff is always friendly and really nice. They are super accommodating to walk in and try to fix everyone in EVEN ON HOLIDAYS. I've gotten my nails done by them 3 times now ... 4 times this saturday. every time they do them so good and they last a long time. Even after multiple trips to a salon my acrylic names don't last s long as they have. When i go here it feels like they last forever but 4 months from one set is a good life for nails in my opinion ‍ read more

Bonus points for the free underground parking which is especially valuable in the Flushing area. You pay at the front, leave your ID, then take off your shoes before heading downstairs to the wet area. There's shoe cubbies on the first level, but I prefer to take my shoes downstairs to your assigned locker so I don't have to worry about them potentially going missing. For proper etiquette just make sure to hold off on putting them on until you get to the first level when you're leaving. The co-ed clothed area (uniforms provided at check-in) is on the second level. There's additional saunas (clay, salt, etc.), ice room, sleep room, lots of recliners and even a restaurant up there. The wet area is pretty typical for a Korean spa. Gender segregated and nude only. There's a cold plunge, hot pool and warm pool. A row of seats for relaxing. A row of standing showers and two rows of sitting showers. Body scrub area. Sauna and steam room. Im from California but visit New York Spa & Sauna every time I come, which is about twice a year. However, this time I found the experience to be slightly different. Mainly that there's now a spa attendant in the men's wet area who sits right outside of the steam room. He frequently checks the steam and sauna plus strictly enforces the eight person capacity in the steam room. I can assume the purpose is to curb potential misconduct. IYKYK. On my prior visits, especially during the winter, there's times where upwards of a dozen or more people would be packed into the steam room at a time, quite the sausage fest. So I guess it's a plus for you now if you prefer having a little more space in there. The attendant was friendly enough and seems to strike a good enough balance of doing his job and not being too intrusive. I just found it slightly less relaxing since he's constantly counting up and down as people enter and leave the steam room. "Three, two, one, full, one, full, one, two, one, full, one two, three, two, one full, one, full again, please wait" is all you'll constantly hear now in the wet area. Eventually I did tone it out and even knocked out on one of the chairs for a bit, so I still found it overall a relaxing experience, just slightly less so than before. The spa opens until 11pm but the steam closes as 8:30pm and sauna at 9:00pm. If you stay past that, you're welcome to use the other amenities until they announce the check-out time which is a bit before 11pm. Overall, I stayed for nearly five hours and still had a fun and relaxing time. The place was clean and well maintained which is a huge plus for me.

The place shouldn't list so many different options for SPA pedicure since it seems to depend on who's doing your pedicure. I always get Lemon Spa done but noticed that some of the"newer" employees would switch up the procedure to however they feel like- some days, you get a leg wrap with full mask treatment, some days you get a 30 second rub with barely-there exfoliants rubbed on. Then I went to another woman who did the polish. After she did 2 coats of the light pink polish, I noticed a bubble in the fill that wasn't getting covered. I stated that I did not like that. The woman doing the polish, shrugged her shoulders and said it was the fault of the woman that did the fill. The woman that did the fill looked at my nail and said, get a darker color so it won't show through and the next time I come, they'll file off the bubble. I was disappointed, but sucked it up and went with the dark color. After leaving and taking a good look at my nails, the shape is crooked on more than a few and the color isn't even. Won't be back for a 3rd time. You get what you pay for.
