The cleaning by the hygienist was adequate and the dentist asked thorough questions after my cleaning. However, what was off putting is when he asked me if I wanted the fluoride treatment. I said no (in my mind, if it was necessary, it would have been part of the cleaning). The dentist then preceded to ask me if I didn't want fluoride because of a financial hardship?! What would make a medical professional providing a service make such an assumption, and a very biased one at that??? Very insulting. This would be the first and last time I went here. read more

The dentists and dental hygienists are kind, professional, and great at their work. However, the rest of the office leaves much to be desired. I was not told of several co-pays due to the office no longer being on my insurance until they had piled up significantly and I had a large bill. I then requested a receipt and was sent incorrect paperwork. I replied requesting corrections several times, and went as far as specifically highlighting what I needed, and was continually sent incorrect paperwork until finally they simply stopped responding. As a result, I have a large copay bill that could have been covered by my FSA but now I will have to pay myself. The office was short staffed at this time, which I am sympathetic to, but giving themselves more work by sending me the wrong paperwork FOUR separate times is unacceptable, and it's an enormous shame to the excellent dentists and dental hygienists who work at this practice. I would have gladly continued going here and paying large copays if I could be sure I would get the correct paperwork to have them covered via my FSA, and am in fact very sad that I will not be able to continue going here. read more

After trying multiple dentists in NYC, I was pleasantly surprised to finally find a dentist that treats you like a human being and not just another patient coming through the door! Dr. Gold is personable and friendly and seems to have the patients' best interest at hand. The last time I visited Dr. Gold for a follow-up appointment, I was very late but was surprised when they still managed to squeeze me in regardless of time. The receptionist at the front desk is very helpful and friendly too. As someone who despises a trip to the dentist, I was apprehensive about trying someone new after I became dissatisfied with my current practitioner. But I was pleasantly surprised after my first visit with Dr. Gold! His staff are incredibly friendly, accommodating and make you feel completely at ease. It's such a rare thing to find in any medical office, and I was so impressed with their attentiveness to every single patient. Knowing I was nervous about my first cleaning, the dental hygienist continually checked in on me to ensure I was comfortable. In my subsequent visits, other hygienists were equally as attentive. Dr. Gold was as great as his staff. He was patient during each and every appointment, taking the time to explain any procedures, the steps involved, and what to expect during and after. Highly recommend (and I've done a lot of research to look for a dentist)!! EXCELLENT experience! Hands-down best time at the dentist - and I am extra terrified of dental work, especially needles. NO PAIN WHATSOEVER! Dr. Gold made damn sure I was comfortable, and checked in on me every other minute. He also explained the procedure during the entire time, telling me what tools he's using and why. He managed my expectations really well, and took care of any unknown. He also really took the time to let each stages of anesthetics sink in, made sure that it didn't hurt, which I didn't go through beforehand with any other dentists. After about one visit per month for 2013 (9 cavities after 9 years of never going to the dentist - ug), I have to say that I feel like I can count Dr. Gold and his staff as buddies. And of course that dog, whose name I can never remember... While they are personable, knowledgable and experienced, I can tell Dr. Gold and his staff are also actually sincere people. I like that. It makes me trust them. For example, monthly visits can get pricey, but Dr. Gold was able and willing to work with me to determine which ones were urgent and which could, for the moment, wait. This allowed me to spread out fillings so that I was able to afford them, and now I have a healthy smile once more. Each and every single visit has probably been the best experience at a medical practitioner's office so far in my life. I kind of want to chip a tooth, or hope for a cavity to see them again. Dr. Gold is the man. He's a very personable character who will explain everything he's doing so that you can feel at ease. He even gave me a mirror to see what my tooth looked like pre-filling because I sounded interested in the procedure. His staff is very friendly and punctual. Love Dr. Gold! I've been going to him for over 5 years and he takes great care of my teeth, never requires exams or work that is not needed (even though I have insurance) and I trust him. His whole team, from the receptionist to the hygienist are all great, and they seem happy to work there, so their attitude is friendly and super welcoming. This place is so wonderful. I haven't had to get any major work done - so I really can't speak for their oral surgery type skills. But everyone in the office is wonderfully nice and very accommodating. I've never waited more than a couple of minutes for my appointments. The office is beautiful and very relaxing. Dr. Gold is super cool. Everyone there listens to you. They don't try to get you to do things that you don't need to do. So I have the biggest fear of going to the dentist, but really needed to get a painful tooth looked at. I called Dr. Gold's office and when they found it was a bit of an emergency they saw me the same day. First impression when I walked in: "What a cool dentist office", and then he came out and introduced himself. He has to be one of the most pleasant and comforting dentists I've ever been to. The two stars as per Yelp mean "Meh. I've experienced better." And in fact, I have -from this very dentist. I've been coming here for about 5 years, and previously recommended him to everyone I know because of his excellent bedside manner, his clear communication of what issues do and do not need further treatment, and his seemingly genuine urge to give top quality care. However, over the past couple visits, service seems to be slipping into the back seat. I see less and less of Dr. Gold himself, and more of the hygienist. This is generally ok as he always comes in at the end to check her work. *However*, on this last visit for a cleaning and checkup, when I arrived I was told Dr. Gold was not in for the day, but he would be sure to look at my x-rays online and get back to me if there were any problems. I would expect to know this before coming in so I could have the option of rescheduling. The hygienist had no bedside manner, communicated no concern for the quality of my care (did she even know my name?), and for the first time ever in a cleaning, did not floss my teeth. In fact, the whole thing took about 15 minutes, which was a bit surprising given I hadn't been in for a cleaning in over a year. I never did hear back from Dr. Gold, so I suppose I should assume that the x-rays were in order. If I'm not going to get a once over from him in person, it felt like I could have had the same treatment by picking the closest possible dentist, instead of looking for the best. read more

Dr. Gold has easily the best technique of any dentist I have ever seen. I had six cavities filled and did not feel discomfort at any point in the procedure, even when he was initially administering novocaine. He is engaging and checked throughout the appointment to make sure I was still comfortable and pain free. His entire staff is responsive and friendly, too. Best dentist I have EVER had. Excellent demeanor, conservative in his approach (meaning, he won't chop up your teeth or prescribe ridiculous treatments if they're not necessary). He's gentle and aware of your comfort. If you're shy of dentist-going, he's certainly the one to help. I had to have extensive work done--an old bridge replaced and two new crowns made--and went to Dr. Gold based on recommendations from co-workers. I have never been more impressed with a doctor. I wish he did more than teeth, because I would feel comfortable seeing him for anything. My insurance covered only a part of the procedure but his office were happy to work out a very accommodating payment plan, and I could not possibly be happier with the finished product. Dr. Gold is great with the regular dental work as he is with any treatments you may need and will not prescribe anything unreasonable that will keep you coming back and rack up bills.
