I genuinely cannot say enough great things about this office. Every single person here is incredible, from the manager to the front desk staff to the hygienists and doctors. I've always been someone who gets anxious about going to the dentist, but this is the first office where I consistently feel safe, comfortable, and truly cared for. The cleanings are incredibly thorough while still being so gentle, and whenever I've had an issue or concern, the doctors always take the time to listen carefully and make me feel heard without ever making me panic or feel stressed. They are knowledgeable and reassuring without being alarmists, which makes such a huge difference. You can tell this office is built on kindness, professionalism, and genuine care for patients. Caution - get a second opinion. I loved this dentist and practice when I was a patient however it seemed like every visit I had another cavity. I was convinced I just had genetically bad teeth. I wanted to leave a review to share what an incredible experience I've had with this practice over several years. I have had a few different dentists during that time, who have all been excellent. What has made my experience particularly wonderful as someone with very sensitive teeth and dental anxiety is the care and amazing patient experience provided by their dental hygienist, Jen. Prior to working with Jen, I actively avoided going to the dentist, but that has totally changed. She takes such care to meet you where you are, explaining exactly what she is doing, and tweaks her approach wherever possible to make you more comfortable. I wish all healthcare experiences were this positive, as it has truly changed the way I take care of my teeth. I would also like to mention that the office experience is incredible due to manager Lem! Appointments start on time, and any questions I've had about insurance vs out of pocket costs are answered with a ton of clarity and with the aim of helping make care as cost effective as possible. My experience at this office was unnecessarily stressful and negative. The office manager spoke to me in a condescending manner, would speak over me, and made a scene in the waiting area in front of patients rather than deescalate the situation in a different way or space. Which can be an issue for office, with HIPPA. She would speak over me and give me long winded answers, rather than answer the question being asked. She would over-explain unnecessarily when a direct question was being asked. And apparently demanded respect when she wasn't giving it to me the patient. She was treating me so disrespectfully. The office failed to check my insurance and alert me that they didn't take part of my insurance however when I spoke to female doctor the night before, I was advised to give insurance in advance to make sure I was covered. I was told to fill out paperwork to avoid longer wait time and it was never sent to me until I called to ask the morning of. The said female doctor which is the one I made an appointment with and spoke to the day before, was not there or refused to see me. I was seen by a male doctor either for intimidation purposes or bc I wasn't informed by the office the female doctor I made an appointment for was not there that day. So their appointment information/details were non transparent. The two male doctors present in close proximity (by bc it's a small office) heard the back/forth with their office manager and chose to not intervene. Apparently the office manager had her "conversation" with the attending doctor, bc he was defensive towards me when I asked simply where was the female doctor and was quick to tell me to change appointment if needed. He didn't even bother to address issue which not did he hear, but was informed of by his office manager. Doctor was more defending his office manager, rather than taking a neutral approach with me as PAYING patient. I had obvious concerns with finding out my insurance was not covering the cost, bc they failed to check it prior to my appointment. The office manager would raise her voice at me as if talking to little child and even stood up as if she was going to come at me or intimidate me. So unprofessional and in front of other patients in the waiting area. I don't know if my race had anything to do with it, my age or she just chose to be nasty and snarky with (me). She would even have a smirk in her face the whole time talking down to me. The doctors present did not at all try to dissipate situation and appeared upset I defended myself from their office manager. Did this appointment in the middle of the day whilst still needing to head back to work and they had no consideration on how they handled matter. Such an uncomfortable and chaotic experience; so unjustified and unnecessary. read more

This Dentistry Practice is why I have panic attacks going to the dentist On my first visit here I was told that I had a cavity. No hard feels, it happens. When I went back to have it filled I had the second most traumatic dental experience of my life. The drilling made a nerve in my face light up and it felt like my face was on a fire. I cried through most of the procedure and was so upset from the whole experience I cried myself to sleep. Cue six months later, the dentist who saw me was too cowardly to see me again. I meet the WORST dentist I ever had. She finds another cavity (mind you...one that had been filled on the last visit and I have been flossing and brushing like a crazy person since then.) I asked to be put under for the filling since the last time was so painful and so upsetting. She insists this time will be different. I start crying as soon as the drill starts and the stupid doctor tries to comfort me after NOT LISTENING TO ME. She says maybe I should take a pill next time. I beg to be put under she doesn't listen. I go back and cry through the entire procedure (this was the most traumatic experience of my life....dental or otherwise.) This doctor was Dr. Lee. She doesn't work there anymore, but if you are considering a practice with a Dr. Lee, maybe don't go there because she doesn't actually care about her patients. Because this is now COVID and I don't have a ton of choices I continue going back to this practice and meet the first kind doctor in it. Dr. Suri is a sweetheart. She gets me the help I need to get cavities filled (an anesthetist.) Prior to this I asked what I needed to do to get insurance to cover this. I basically got a shoulder shrug and was told I needed to pay in cash. I paid in cash and then got blown off by my insurance. If you genetically good teeth and don't have dental anxiety, I am sure that this is an OK practice. Dr. Suri is nice and attentive, but otherwise, the doctors here suck. The support staff is okay. If you can go elsewhere in Midtown, I recommend it. read more

I've been going to Dr. Nazarian for about 6 years now and continue to go even though I moved away from this area. I hate going to the dentist period - but Cosmopolitan Dental has a welcoming staff who is helpful, friendly and on top of it at all times. I have never had an issue with making an appointment or rescheduling. I go for a checkup/cleaning every 6 months and each time they take a full set of x-rays to analyze each tooth/nerve. I've thankfully found a wonderful and trustworthy dentist in the city, having found Dr. Nazarian through a referral from my childhood dentist's office three years ago. The staff is always extremely nice and accommodating which makes coming here such a breeze. First let me say I have the absolute WORST fear of dentists, compounded by the fact I had a terrible experience with a quack doctor in Florida. I was referred to Dr. Nazarian by a friend who had absolutely beautiful teeth. When I booked the appointment with Helen, I tried to explain how terrified I was and she assured me it wouldn't be a problem and that I was in good hands. I was skeptical. When I arrived at my appointment, I gave her my name and she asked if I would like a coffee and then took me right back to the hygienist, Dorrie. A doctor that you don't wait on?! Where am I? I told Dorrie about my previous experience and we discussed my history and then she got right to work, making sure I was comfortable the whole time. It seemed like I was done in no time at all and it was truly a relaxing experience. Dr. Nazarian came in and went over my history with me, and looked over my previous treatment plan. He confirmed what I had thought, there was a lot of extras added on that I didn't need by my previous dentist. He reassured me that he would fix me up in no time at all and asked if there was anything he could do to make me feel more comfortable during my treatment. He genuinely listens and takes time with each of his patients. I have never once felt rushed or like he wasn't concerned with how I was feeling. I can't tell you how wonderful it is to finally have a dentist that doesn't order excessive painful treatments and makes you informed on all of your treatment options. Dr. Nazarian has an amazing staff that works with you and understands how expensive dental treatment can be. They prioritize what needs to be done and I have never had to wait. I have bad teeth. I have lousy gums. Inherited both from my parents. I floss, I brush, but it is what it is. The good news is that the folks at Cosmopolitan Dental are always there for me. Dr. Nazarian and his colleagues and staff are great at what they do and always have my back (mouth?). Dr. Nazarian gave me a nice smile. Dr. Suri is lovely. Dr. Zelig is their ace endodontist/periodontist (he's both!) and has helped me through root canals and implants. Everyone from their hygienists (Colleen is mine) to their dental assistants (Danarose keeps me smiling) to their receptionist (Lem, who schedules, reminds and helps with insurance) are wonderful and extremely professional. Helen, the assistant at the front desk, was super friendly and did an incredible job walking me through my plan, coverage and how the office bills. The paperwork on my first visit took about 15 min to fill out. The dental office is conveniently located by Grand Central so all mass transit is only a few steps away, also it's on the ground floor so really easy access, no elevators to deal with. The office has a clean and modern feel, but not overdone. They use all the latest and greatest in dental technology and Celeste his assistant did a great job on x-ray's and making me laugh. The dentist chair even has a massage feature to take your mind off of things and relax you. Dr. Garo performed my cleaning which was a first for me to have a dentist do a cleaning rather than an oral hygienist. He did such an amazing job was gentle and very caring. No waiting time, I was promptly seen but the appointment was less than thorough. The cleaning took only a few minutes. He didn't bother to clean all of my teeth or exam them. Worst of all, he sprayed water all over my face so that it was dribbling down my neck and didn't offer anything to clean it up. He was very rushed and seemed inexperienced. .
