We've had another quality experience with Lee Johnson Kia this past week. We traded in our Niro lease and decided to purchase a Sportage Hybrid. We've been driving a Kia for 3 years and really liked the car. Upgrading to the Sportage made a lot of sense. We were already familiar with the workings of the Kia brand and were very satisfied with the quality of their cars. It was a pretty easy decision to stay with Kia. The new car purchase experience was very smooth. Our salesperson, Jeffrey Belmonte, was knowledgeable, professional, friendly, and took very good care of us during this transaction. I had an extremely frustrating experience with Lee Johnson Kia Service Department. After my brand new vehicle (hybrid Sorento) that I bought with them 5 months before, experienced a serious failure on March 25, I brought it in and was told I'd receive an update within 2-5 business days. That never happened. Over the next 9 weeks that my car was in their shop, I had to repeatedly chase the dealership for updates--making 20+ phone calls, leaving multiple voicemails, and sending texts. Not a single time did they follow through on a promised callback. When I did get information, it was often inconsistent or incorrect. I was told different things at different times (fuel issue vs. a known issue requiring parts), and at one point was even given updates that turned out to be for someone else's car. Timelines constantly changed with no proactive communication. I also spoke with a couple 'supposedly managers during this process, and unfortunately, they did not seem concerned about the situation or the lack of communication, which only added to the frustration. At one point I had to physically showed up at the dealership to demand an update and to be told, they couldn't predict the future so could not tell me when my car would be ready. Even more frustrating, after weeks of silence, I eventually received a vague text from an unknown number saying the car was ready for pickup. When I picked it up, the paperwork showed that the car had actually been ready for nearly two weeks before anyone notified me. While the mechanical issue may have been out of their control, the complete breakdown in communication, accountability, and basic customer service is unacceptable. I would strongly caution others--worst customer service in my life, beware if you bring your vehicle here. read more

I wish I would have read these reviews beforehand. I went by the BBB rating- which we ended up having to complain to because they are a lying and lack of follow through kind of place. The one star is for their MALE service manager, the other one is something else. We negotiated a price, some safety repairs and tire replacements. They try and get you to sign things that are scribbled on a sheet of paper that say as is on a certified preowned vehicle, consult your lawyer about that one. The sales girl, Victoria has horrible follow through but her manager doesn't set the best example so it's almost understandable. We had to return 3 times after they did the bare minimum and LIED about doing repairs they didn't do. Ridiculous, but if you have to go there you may have to get the general manager involved and let them know how poor your experience is. The engine light went off twice, the back bumper was horribly messed up, the female sales manager has HORRIBLE customer service and that's if you can get them to answer the phone. One of the service people didn't give my husband our key back (mine was in the diaper bag) and he tried to tell my husband it was on the counter the whole time.....my husband left the loaner key on the counter, pretty sure it would have been seen. I bought my 2013 MazdaSpeed 3 hatchback here in 2015. The car has been extremely reliable and gets better than Mazda's claimed MPG. I thought I liked the people, and I don't know what's going on. We were sold a certified pre owned Kia, which has the Kia manufacturers warranty still in affect until 100,000 miles or 10 years. I have proof of that. But also, it appears to be well over a thousand miles overdue for an oil change, or they didn't give us the documentation for it. I don't know which. KIA would not allow a car that is not up to date on maintenance be certified pre owned, so if this isn't taken care of it may well void my manufacturers warranty. I would be able to fix this if I could get them over the phone. But I can't. I love the car. I'm happy about what I got price wise. I did like the people, but this service is just bad. read more

***UPDATE*** We found out the day after driving the car home that the chip protection promised to be performed one week out from purchasing is actually ONE MONTH... so trying to make sure we don't drive the car on the highway otherwise the many thousands spent on chip protection seem pointless. If you cannot offer a service within a short amount of time after purchasing the price should be discounted severely... now we are shuffling around four drivers with ONE car to take to work shifts, appts, etc to avoid the new car getting scratched and chipped. This is NOT acceptable. We have two cars but one is basically undriveable for a month to protect it. Plus we don't want our teenagers driving the new expensive car. I would write what happened but you wouldn't believe it, I still don't believe it. I will never buy, think about or go near the stench of this place. Period, over and out. Only advice I have is to be VERY careful, they will get extreme. They called the police on us and of course the cops left looking pissed for having their time wasted. Lee Johnson in Kirkland is a lying pack of hyneas. My brake caliper broke off and was resting on my tire, rendering my vehicle dangerous to drive and producing a horrible racket. Kia assured me they checked every nut and bolt, tightening every thing up. Lies! My husband then inspected the vehicle himself, finding the problem. (We were honoring the warranty by taking it to them at first). My husband demanded they tow the vehicle to the shop and repair it, which they did, but really????? Oh, then the vehicle started burning 3 quarts of oil in 21 days, a known issue, come to find out, for KIA 2019 Souls. Under full warranty, and REFUSED to do anything !!!!!! We ended up taking the vehicle to Sunset Kia of Auburn....total engine rebuild. ( just a side note that apparently warrantees dont EVER cover catylc converters?) Buyer beware! Unethical Sales Tactic: Lie promising they'll match another dealer to get you in only to give you a quote of $200/month higher. I provided them a quote in email and asked to make sure they can match it because my mom has to lose money and take a day off to come with. I got a passive aggressive reply from Brian Walter saying how the only waste of time is if my mother won't qualify for the EV rebate for which she did qualify. Instead of the $377/Month their first offer was outrageous at $570+. Then I said I literally got an offer from them TODAY through TrueCar for $444/month so they went back and gave me a $461/month offer. They didn't just NOT match another dealership and wasted our time, but they couldn't even match their own quote. I bought 2 cars from them before and was about to get a 3rd one. This review is for the service department. I just had the first service here of the Kia Sportage I bought here earlier this year. When I dropped the car off I asked a couple times if it included an oil change and tire rotation. They said yes. After the service, when I got home I discovered they had not rotated the tires. When I brought it up they said they'd checked the tread depth of the tires and since all 4 were the same they decided the tires didn't need to be rotated. Makes me wonder what else they decided didn't need to be done. They've done nothing for my confidence with auto shops in general and them in particular and now I plan on trying out to the Kia in Renton in the future. read more

and forgetting deals... here at Lee Johnson, at least with Edgar, it was nothing like that! We knew going in what we wanted, and no pressure let us take it for a spin. I'm use to having the salesman be in there with us, but they let us go on our own. Pretty cool since we got to talk (bicker) about little things, talk amongst ourselves and come to our OWN decision. Walking the lot was easy and ended up upgrading on our own (pretty much because we got to talk l, debate... so the married thing, with no one around, until we needed help). From there, Edgar got to know us, tell me I get a Military discount, and really got us an incredible deal because he took the time to talk to us when we were ready. Even was honest about the pros and cons with the different trims and price points. Super straight forward, pretty fast too and BOOM, we have a new car! recently had a disappointing experience at Lee Johnson KIA in Kirkland, despite wanting to support a local dealership. Jeffree repeatedly assured me that the car I wanted would be ready on Friday after a "thorough check," but when I tried to confirm the details the day before and on the day itself, I got nothing--just radio silence. Undeterred, I showed up that evening only to find out that Jeffree was out on that day Instead of a smooth handoff, I ended up with Alex, a salesman who was more insensitive than helpful. He had little knowledge of the vehicle's features, which was frustrating, especially since I had previously purchased the same car from another dealership. During the test drive, the audio system was non-functional, and Alex assured me it would be fixed if I bought the car. He downplayed the issue, claiming it was likely just a quick wiring fix, despite saying the audio was working perfectly when they inspected it. While filling out the paperwork, there was a mix-up with my mom's information, and we were awkwardly asked multiple times if she was a citizen. As Kirkland locals for over 10 years, this was the first time anyone questioned our citizenship, and it was both unnecessary and insulting. Julia from finance was incredibly unprofessional, making snide comments when we declined her add-on packages and getting argumentative instead of respectful. To top it off, I left the dealership with a car that had no gas in it. After being ghosted about the audio fix, I chased them down myself. Five days later, Honda revealed there was an aftermarket radio in the car. Lee Johnson had to send it to Car Toys for a new audio system, and wouldn't you know it, the left speaker blew out again less than two weeks later.. While Lee Johnson did cover the cost of a new installation and one speaker, I'll be stuck covering the next failure. Additionally, Julia entered the wrong email for my finance application and a date I never agreed to, creating unnecessary chaos for my loan process. This level of incompetence is infuriating. The stress and rudeness I encountered from Jeffree, Alex, Julia, Braulio, and Perry were astounding. Their endless apologies for their mistakes mean nothing when it's clear this dealership can't mend a broken relationship. Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere. I've been in the market looking for a new car for a couple of weeks/ month. I reached out to several different dealerships as I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted and cars were moving quite quickly. My first point of contact was with Tim Johnson and he kept in contact with me throughout my entire process while I was looking and not once did he make me feel pressured, it was just an email asking how I was doing, and how he could help. I went to the dealership on the weekend, which we all know is a very busy time. I walked in and was immediately greeted by everybody who worked there. People were extremely kind and friendly. I was in and out of purchasing the vehicle in less than 2 1/2 hours and that includes the test drives that I took. Have you guys ever heard of this? It was so easy and simple. They made it painless. You can tell they work very well as a team there and I was highly impressed. Excellent customer service. If you're in the market for a new car, go to Lee Johnson in Kirkland, as they are a family owned business, and you can tell they do treat people like family. These people are scam artists! They offered my 39K for a trade in, went down the street and got 42K. Funny thing is they wouldn't even negotiate on the trade in. So, if you have a trade in, my advice is to steer clear. Also, was looking to do a lease. Well, I used Kia's online tool and the were magically over $200 a month more. Now I realize there are fees and taxes, but they don't equal $200 more a month on a three year lease. That's $7,200 for 36 months. Just crooked around every possible angle. read more

Alex was nice and helpful. Roman was incredibly pushy, rude and really made the process of buying a car more unpleasant than it needed to be. This a customer focused job and he seems to not understand what no means. So rude and overshadowed the work that Alex had done. In addition, they never called to let me know my plates were ready to pick up. I waited over a month thinking they would be coming in the mail. We bought our Kia Seltos S Turbo here today! This was the second dealership we visited today, the first one was a horrible experience which made us feel pretty defeated and just tired, and we honestly though that was just how it was gonna go: aggresive negotiations, that feeling that you're being tricked. We arrived and were promptly greeted and introduced to Jesse, who was super nice and brought over the 2 SUVs we mentioned we were interested in for us to look at before we even got into pricing. We fell in love with our new car & were shown up front sticker pricing & different specs. It just felt right. It felt like we were dealing with a good friend. We were there for a long time, and our 7 month old was with us. I can honestly say almost every employee now knows our baby and went by to say hi, offer food or drinks. They got us pizza while we waited, it was delicious. Overall, it was an amazing experience, you can definitely see they're focused on their clients and not just on the sales. Why is it that when you go to buy a car, you know at some point, someone at the dealership will find a way to try to over charge you, even if you point out the problem? I have no complaints about the sales staff, but when I went in to see the "finance person" (I was paying cash) she lied to my face about the taxes on the car, and the cost of a "maintenance contract." Also, why is that when buying a car you have to go through a gauntlet of add-on insurances, which can add thousands to the profits of the car dealership, but rarely pay off for the car buyer? In this particular case, I was offered a maintenance contract initially for $1,200. Then suddenly, Ms. Pai said, "oh, looks like you have a tax credit of about $600..." Then she said, oh, no she was wrong, "forget I said anything." Then, abruptly, she offered me the contract for $400. I said, it was $1,200, but now it's $400? "Out the door" she said. So, I agreed. Then a few days later, I changed my mind, and requested a cancellation and refund for the policy. Which was provided after several requests (as required by law). When I got the refund check, it was for $992! $592 more than what she told me the the policy cost. Pretty close to $600...I just want to be able to buy a car, for an agreed on price, with everything out in the open, without worrying that I'm getting screwed. Is that too much to ask? read more

I always seem to be treated poorly in the KIA Service Department. It's like the employees are not listening to me, but instead just waiting to respond with what THEY want to say. My local mechanic noted a tie rod that needed to be replaced. I made a service appointment in July at Lee Johnson online, saying I needed a tie rod. First available apt was in September. I got to the appointment an hour away from where I live, they asked what it was for, and then said they didn't have the part and it would take a few days to get it, and it would take 8 hours and they hadn't scheduled that much time. They made another appointment for a few weeks out. The day of that appointment, they told me that they had put a note in my file about an appointment, but there was not actual appointment on the schedule. I made a third appointment, but it wasn't scheduled to start until mid-day. I asked if that would be enough time, they said we'll see. I went to the appointment and they said it was finished in one hour. I went back to my regular mechanic for an oil change and he noted that the tie rod was now in an urgent situation; they hadn't replaced the failing tie rod. read more

I went to Lee Johnson Kia of Kirkland with a pre approved loan from my credit union and plenty of cash down. Jeffrey was the sales rep. He did his job as much as he could. However, the financing is a big sham. They bad mouth each other. Then, they wanted to run my credit unnecessarily with Lee Johnson and Kia. Now I have 3 hard hits on my credit. I only authorized 1 from my Credit Union. Not only that, they work together. Those credit checks were unnecessary. Every credit check is a hard hit on your credit. Just beware. Legally, if you're pre-approved, know your rights. Regretting doing business business with them. There are so many other details from this experience. I'm just over these shysters. read more

We bought a vehicle over the weekend that upon returning home had an issue that resulted in a dead battery. Complete nightmare moment. Lee Johnson Kia was responsive and listened to our specific needs in getting the vehicle repaired. To include members of the sales team coming to our home to check out the issue and providing a tow -- during a snow storm! Alfredo, Alex, Sun Jun & Braulio all worked to ensure the problem was fixed and offered follow up communication should anything else arise. I had a horrible time at this Kia Johnson recently. First I walked in and nobody acknowledged me, I said hello to some sales people, nobody had smiles on their faces. I went up and talked to one sales person, he kind of brushed me off and told me to wait. While I waited, I noticed one of the sales people was on the phone with the customer. They seemed to be having an argument. After the call, the sales person went on and made fun of the customer with other sales people. It was not present for me to listen to. Overall I felt not welcomed there. They throw the word "family" a lot but I guess that's just for the commercial. I did not have a good experience at this location sadly. I have brought my Kia Optima here several times for some services & needed to have my sunroof checked & repaired. I scheduled this appointment a month ago requesting to have my sunroof checked as I had a diagnostic done at another auto repair place that stated my sunroof run off was clogged so it was leaking inside on the passenger side. The repair place was not able to do the work so they sent me to the dealership. I arrived the day of my appointment (after waiting for a month with a leak in the sunroof) only to find they don't do this kind of repair and would need a specialist that would be a couple "months". The guy at the front desk was incredibly rude. I was shocked they could see the purpose of my appointment and not call to say they don't do that kind of service. I literally took the day off of work because the person on the phone told me they would need the car most of the day (I only have one vehicle). After this experience, I called a different dealership in Everett that got me in right away, sent me an Uber to the mall to hang while they worked, they completed it within 2 hours and were so incredibly friendly! We live in Mill Creek, but got our Niro from Lee Johnson KIA and went back because our experience had been so positive even though there are other KIA dealers closer to home for us. I purchased two Kia Niro EVs at Lee Johnson in the last three weeks. We came in to replace our cars and switch to EVs and liked the Niro and EV6. In retrospect, I was naïve to believe that the progress in-car technologies projected on the people selling them, their integrity, and their business practices. Kamoore Chamberlain and Braulio Arias, under the leadership of Pete Berkey, have all reiterated the old fashion reputation of car salespeople. The first replacement was smooth and straightforward. My wife was looking to replace her QX60 SUV with a smaller crossover; Kia EV6 seemed perfect. Several hours later, we left with a Niro. Everyone swore that the EV6 is delayed and not available before September or October. To make a long story of lies and manipulation short, customers are now driving new EV6 out of the dealership. I now have a better understanding of why the sales manager shushed the finance manager when the topic of EV6 came up. I missed the gist of the finance manager saying they were coming. Are we happy with the Niro? Yes. Were we lied to and deceived to buy it last month instead of waiting to buy an EV6 now? Absolutely. The short-term interest (meet quota in January?), the disgusting nature of car sales (people), and lack of investment in long-term relationships made the outcome of the experience a huge disappointment. I am obligated to warn readers of the dealership. I would like to believe you can do better almost anywhere else. The second purchase was a much worse experience full of part truths, plenty of lies, false promises, and no accountability to the highest level (Tod Johnson, the owner). I am happy with the Kia, but the road to it was an unnecessary experience that left a bad taste. The bottom line is that we had no joy in buying two cars. Buyers should be made happy and made into repeat customers. The people at the dealership and their practices achieved the opposite. I am never giving business to the Lee Johnson-owned dealerships. I understand the problem, but the service guy that answered my call talked to me like I was a child. I tried to explain this problem in different ways to help him understand the issue. He didn't ask any questions for clarification. After I explained it multiple times, he said "because of your lack of logic you just need to make an appointment". Lack of logic? I'm not a mechanic. I'm not sure how I feel about buying a car here. Right now they are adding an extra 3k to Tellurides, but that is what is it you know. Market demand for them is crazy. My car I was trading in was worth 9k-11k I was thinking 10k sounds good. I took great car of my car and it needed tires and front brakes this winter I was expecting less. I was asking 8k and they refused and would not budge even though they are in need of used cars. I feel like a got screwed for my used car. My sells person was great (Alfredo) but the floor manger Alex was a dick. I tried to get Alex to give more for my car. He asked what I was thinking and immediately shot it down. He did not try to deal at all. He even got agitated when I was trying to deal. I was staying clam and telling him facts about what the car should be worth. He was not having any of it so I needed the trade in for the purchase so I was in a between a rock and a hard place. Then the guy that completes the paper for the loans was good. Transparent and completed my loan from BECU over there. The only downside was he kept pushing the insurance to add extra protection I didn't want any of that. The only think I couldn't take off was the numbers they etched into the quarter panels with is a scam for $399 extra. I made sure to only pay the three things that are mandatory to pay. I would recommend watching car buying videos before going to buy your next car. To continue the guy finishing the paperwork started to get agitated when I refused to pay for the extra coverage. He even got a discount on it. I most likely would have bought if they gave me more for my trade in. Since they didn't I don't want to pay $53 extra on top of a $518 car payment. So over all there was a great guy there (Alfredo) but he was out of town when I went to pick up the car. I would recommend if you are looking for Kia look at Sunset Kia and the Kia in Shoreline before going to Lee Johnson Kia in Kirkland. They always charge more but I was expecting more and better service. If you are willing to drive over in Ellensburg the Kia dealership is offering 0% for 72 months if the deal is still going on. I bought a Kia from here, and I couldn't regret it more. My car came with a cigarette in the driver's side door, a squeaking sound whenever it drives, and a nail in the tire. I was lied to about how often it needs oil changed, the salesman told me every 6000 miles, but every single mechanic I've gone to has said 4000 miles, literally 33% less efficient than I was promised. I was also told this vehicle's engine starts to fail after 100k miles so I should sell it before then. This vehicle has had an insane amount of recalls. I took it to a local mechanic, who told me the issue was a recall so I unfortunately had to take it to Kia to service. Kia is booked out 8-10 days in advance, and expect you to just drive your broken car until the appointment. The lady there, Der, was very rude and inefficient at her job since she told me over and over again there were no recalls. However, when the technician called me back he told me it was the recall I was talking about. I had booked this appointment over the phone and given all the information they needed, but when I got there they suddenly told me my car has to stay there for days. The most evil thing about Kia is that they will not provide you with a rental/loaner car. I moved to this area recently and had no one to give me a ride, and not having a car means I won't be able to work and therefore can't pay rent and am at risk of homelessness. Kia does not care. I was trapped there and had to call people till I could get help paying for 2 ubers to an enterprise and then pay hundreds of dollars for a rental out of my own pocket. Never buy from Kia. Even if your car is good, you are going to need to pay so much money just to get it serviced there, which is inevitable since they make awful cars that need recalled all the time. read more

If you are interested in a car that will last a long time, I would not recommend a KIA. We bought a KIA sorrento from Lee Johnson five years ago, and unfortunately the engine suffered a cost prohibitive repair and we had to replace it. Our KIA had 126,000 miles on it when it failed. We were hoping to drive the car for another 3-4 years and closer to 200,000 miles. We bought a Toyota. read more
