We recently threw a surprise party for our Mom's 70th bday and ordered food from Lee & Eddie's for 50 people. The guests all raved about the food and wanted to know where we ordered it from. I would highly recommend Lee & Eddies and we will definitely be ordering from them again. Here is a breakdown of our experience... Re: Ordering process - Super easy and done mostly all through email. Re: Last minute details - I decided I wanted to add a cake and called to do so with only 48 hrs notice. Not only did they graciously accept the order, they decorated it how I requested and it turned out BEAUTIFUL. (It tasted delicious too!) Re: Delivery and set up - Delivery was one time. Driver was VERY professional and polite. The party was at the Moose Lodge in Downers Grove and, even though I mentioned it when ordering, the driver was unaware that there would be so many stairs and indicated that their was no way he could get the food all up the stairs by himself. Fortunately, several of us have worked in hospitality and were sympathetic so we had a bunch of guys help carry the food up. The driver then set up the food and made sure it looked very presentable. This particular driver was really friendly and a good representation for the company brand but I would recommend Lee & Eddie's consider sending 2 people when that much food is being delivered. Re: Food - FANTASTIC! Honestly really disappointed in this place- wanted to order catering for our engagement party, but due to communication issues, we will be going elsewhere. There was a contract drafted and we were ready to order, however my family did not want to mail in our credit card info. My mother called to give the card info on Thursday morning, left a message, but no response. We called again so we could get this sorted on Friday, but again no response. They did call us back today but gave an excuse that the voicemail ended up in someone else's voicemail box... even though we've been calling the same number the whole time. Definitely disappointing communication- we know it's a busy time but that's not a reason to ignore your future customers. We had a memorial for our mom who passed away during COVID. We had everything catered from Lee & Eddie's. Everything was FABULOUS! Our favorites were: Italian beef (amazing!), sausage/potatoes, potato salad, asparagus spears (many compliments and wished we had ordered double), and fried chicken (so good). We chose pick up, which was super quick and easy. Prices were amazing. Lots of leftovers for the following day. I would highly recommend and will be using them again in the near future. L&E catered our company holiday party, and I was pretty unimpressed. There was a LOT of food, but it was all pretty low quality. Several iceberg (!!!) lettuce salads, with plastic packets of dressing. Plain tortilla chips next to mounds of taco dip made up of mostly sticky beans. A smallish dish of shrimp that was gone instantly. A small bowl of guacamole that was gone pretty quickly as well. The serving dishes contained meat dishes, and these were all pretty overheated, overcooked and dry. The meatballs had a disconcertingly sweet taste that I was not a fan of. Business cards on the table?! Hey, if you're good, people ask for your card. Better to leave those off. This food might be fine for a picnic, but for a holiday party I wanted to see more elegant fare, prepared by an actual chef. Finger food, and small bites of incredibly delicious food, real hors d'oeuvres, rather than food that needed to be eaten off a plastic plate with a plastic fork while juggling a drink. Maybe it's a city vs. suburbs mentality thing, but less food that is more special, vs. loads of food that is mediocre, would be my preference. The servers were great, and the bartender was flirty and sweet and an absolute hoot - no complaints about the people, they were all great. Lee n' Eddies was our one stop shop for both catering and cake at our wedding. We choose our menu on-line then had a conversation with Ronnie to make the final adjustments. The staff was prompt and professional, taking care of the set up of the buffet as well as the cutting and serving of the cake. (which was amazing!) They broke down and cleaned up while the party was still going strong and we didn't even notice. The left over food was boxed up ready to take home, very neat and tidy. Decent food for the price. Horrible service . They almost ruined my whole party! They told me they would come in set up and then leave. Well they gave only curbed side service and handed everything to my doorman and drove off. Half the stuff was missing, no paper plates, or plastic ware included (like they promised it would be)! Thank God someone ran to Costco or what would people have ate on?? Party of 120 people by the way! They dropped the ball big time!!!! Almost ruined my whole party! I was super stressed and then when I called the next day to tell them what happened they were not apologetic. Just casually said sorry and credited me $30 for a future use at their company! They can keep the $30 and they lost a good future and repeat customer! Only choose them if you have no other options, and pray! Period. read more

I catered a company breakfast today. Usually I order from Corkey's, but decided to try Lee & Eddy's. Big mistake! The scrambled eggs were hard, the potatoes were dry and the pancakes were mealy. I ordered for 90 people and received 90 biscuits, however only 60 people could have jelly with their biscuit. The syrup for the pancakes was cold, fortunately I was able to heat it up in our microwave. Then the big insult was the "spread" they passed off as butter. Needless to say I will not be ordering from them again. read more

After ordering all the catering for our company for the last three years I can honestly say that this was the worst experience. I ordered the St. Patricks Day meal for 30 people and was worried not everyone would like this traditional meal so I ordered green beans and 40pc fried chicken just in case. The driver arrived and started bringing things in, very sloppily. She then realized she was short a box and said that she must have given it to a previous delivery by mistake. She didn't finish setting up but instead immediately left to go to a near by walmart to purchase the missing items (bread and sauces) and left empty boxes all over. I cleaned up and finished setting up while she was gone since everyone was hungry but then realized that one of the desserts was also missing!!! I called to let them know about this and they only refunded me $13 when this whole meal was OVER $400!!! Most expensive I've ever ordered from. The proportions were NOT for 30 people...Luckily I over ordered because the small tray of potatoes (which I calculated to be just under $70 dollars - insane) were gone before everyone got a serving. To top it off - only 22 employees were at the office today, so if they expected us to feed 30 they are out of their minds. The only reason I gave two stars instead of one was because most of the food luckily did taste good. Will never order from here again. read more

We have been using Lee n' Eddies for one of our events for a couple of years and never had an issue; UNTIL THIS YEAR. We had placed our order a la carte as always signed our agreement and credit card authorization that reflected the correct amount for my order. Then someone in their employment decided to add to my order without my consent and charged my credit card with the updated amount WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION. Is this acceptable? How can you trust a caterer that will utilize your credit card at their whim? Obviously a signed agreement and credit card authorization means nothing to this company. read more

I was very impressed with the service I received from Lee n' Eddie's for my recent engagement BBQ! Firstly, I was happy to see the wide array of service levels offered - anything from food only to setup to on-site grilling. Additionally, I was able to customize my menu to accommodate adults and kids alike, and Fran was very patient with me as I changed the guest count at least 3 times throughout the process. Fran's consistent and timely communication with me was so seamless and the #1 reason for my 5-star review. The food was delicious, stayed hot throughout the whole party, and all my guests had nothing but wonderful things to say about the spread (the mac n cheese, pulled pork, and fried chicken were crowd favorites). Dan and his crew are the best! I've used them for a 50 person work luncheon, a 50 person party at my home and for numerous graduation parties. Their food is outstanding! Sandwiches, pasta's, desserts, etc also make sure to order the meatballs. They can equip your area with tents, food trays with heaters and utensils. All you need to do is order and they will take care of the rest. Their professionalism is second to none and they've always been on time for my orders, sometimes on short notice. I ordered Lee n' Eddies for my son's college graduation! If you have not had Lee N Eddies in a while and highly encourage you to try them out again. Under recommendation while planning the menu, I order the chicken vesuvio, Italian beefs, meatball marinara, pinwheels, fresh cut fruit, pasta salad, strawberry jello for the kids, mixed grill vegetables and a tossed mixed green salad. I wanted something nice for my sons party and I was willing to spend over the "budget style" menu...I feel like I got a lot for the $400.00 I spent. I could not of cooked this higher end meal under $400.00!! The chicken vesuvio had garlic butter potatoes underneath and did that go over well! I have a Swedish family and they were loving the meatballs!! They are some tough critics. I had plates, napkins, assorted dressing packets and a free sheet cake and I had to do next to nothing to pull off an incredible party with really good food! The driver took the time in assisting in setting the party up and how to keep the food warm, with out over cooking. For all this, I get a free sheet cake too! We had hired Lee & Eddie's to cater our daughter's second birthday. First impression goes a long way. Of the four catering companies that we had contacted, Lee n Eddie's was the only that had called back and left a voicemail. This is a personal touch that encouraged us to move forward. For 40 people we had ordered mostaccioli with meatballs, Italian beef and sausage, and mixed green salad. We were all very happy with the quality and quantity of the food. The tomato sauce for the pasta was NOT the soupy sort that comes from cheap jars or cans. It was chunky with crushed tomatoes and well seasoned with chopped basil. The meatballs were very tasty and it was all covered with melted mozzarella cheese. The beef was not too thin such that it disintegrates into the broth or breaks apart when piling it into a roll. The rolls provided for the beef held up to the classic dip. Sweet peppers and giardiniera was provided to top off the beef sandwiches. Finally, the green salad had a mix of spring greens, cucumber, tomatoes and julienned carrots. Not a single leaf of iceberg. The staff at Lee n Eddies were very helpful, receptive to our needs and requests, and always communicated in a timely manner. This all gave us piece of mind leading up to our event. I lucked out by NOT reading any Yelp reviews before deciding to hire Lee n Eddies. Others have had what they each consider to be less than satisfactory experiences. This may have persuaded me to look elsewhere. I have absolutely no complaints and we had a great experience. I got married last Saturday, and my family was in from out of town, so we wanted to have a brunch Sunday morning to send people home with food in their bellies. We used Lee and Eddie's to cater a brunch at a house my parents rented in Lincoln Park. We went with the Power Breakfast package for 70 people. They arrived for the drop off and set up about 5 minutes early, and there was a TON of food, exactly the style we were looking for. Strange interaction that might be worth mentioning: The person doing the drop off seemed as if she wanted us to help her unload the food, but I might have been reading that wrong. Lee and Eddies catered our outdoor Picnic event in August 2010 & 2011 and we were pleased, the food arrived on time and warm complete with warming trays, plates and utensils. The delivery person helped with the setup and provided tips on serving. You can download their menus from their website and call them direct to place a credit card order. We emailed them a map of our picnic location. We ordered the food for 80 people on the Wed. before the event then increased the order the next day. Everyone had enough to eat and they made it real easy without high costs. If you want gourmet food, wedding service or catering for an upscale event, you may want to shop around. First time customer. I called to order one of their meal deals (2 entrees, 2 sides, rolls & dessert for 4-5 people). I picked Italian beef and herb-roasted chicken with sides of mac n'cheese and mashed potatoes. I was told the roasted chicken was not available because the chef had left for the day (I ordered at 5:00!) so I chose the fried chicken instead. Then I asked to pick it up at 6:30, but they said I have to pick up at 6:00 because that's when they close. I thought that was odd! Why wouldn't they be open later for the dinner crowd? So my husband picked up the order at 6:00 and brought it home. Got about 10 pieces of fried chicken and enough beef for about 5 sandwiches. Chicken was delicious. Crispy on the outside, juicy inside. Beef was good, but "au jus" was overly salty and there were only enough rolls for 3 sandwiches. :( Sides were decent quality and good portions. Just as we finished eating the doorbell rang and it was one of their employees with our missing rolls and dessert. I thought it was a nice touch that they sent someone to the house, but it would have been nicer to have those rolls earlier! Dessert consisted of 4 chocolate chip cookies and fudge brownies, all very yummy. Overall the food quality and portions were good, but the ordering/service/hours needs a bit of tweaking. read more

I have been our company's "party planner" for about the past 9/10 years and in doing a picnic in the summer and a lunch at Christmas time, Lee & Eddie's have been fantastic. Tricia is wonderful to deal with and the delivery/setup staff are so nice and friendly. Over the years we have had both the drop off buffet and also had their staff onsite to grill and serve. The food is always delicious and everyone enjoys it. There have been years I have had to arrange food deliveries to our three locations on the same day and it's always gone off without a hitch. My family was very, very disappointed in the service and preparation of this establishment's finger sandwiches. Our daughter/sister was married the weekend of October 17, and we hosted the reception in an intimate family setting with plenty of guests. The sandwiches were nothing like they were advertised. The finger sandwiches we received were supposed to be french rolls however we received marble-rye sandwiches with cream cheese in the middle. Needless to say, our guests avoided them completely. Now, I will preface the rest of the review by saying the roasted sausage with vegetable were very good (so was the fruit salad). But the finger sandwiches were very disappointing because we ordered so many of them. And it was visible from the ordered food which was the "hit" and what was the "miss". We were supposed to get a reimbursement for the sandwiches, yet we have not received an updated bill. We cannot in full faith recommend Lee & Eddie's to any of our friends and colleagues who would want catering for major events in the future. read more

I recently used Lee & Eddies Catering for my daughter's wedding reception which was held in my home the end of September. My daughter wanted a buffet style dinner for guest of about 20 people. The food was very good, the presentation of the food needs much improvement. Our catering manager was very professional, kind, accommodating and a pleasure to work with. On delivery was on time, but our delivery person was very rude, rushed, she seemed somewhat nervous and very clumsy. She splattered the sauce from the chicken breast on my beautiful table cloth. I did not receive an apology. Her only concern was that she was getting paid time and half. What a rude comment to make! My parents had used Lee and Eddies for their backyard wedding 30 years ago, so we figured anyone who was in business for that long had to have good food. Also, Lee and Eddies cost was SIGNIFICANTLY less than any of the other caterers we saw. The food was tasty and the servers and delivery people were friendly. Where my review went up to 5 stars is how they handled an emergency situation that could have ruined the dinner for our wedding. The two servers that we hired to serve our guests got into a car accident on their way to our home, about an hour away from the city. The delivery man arrived on time and upon hearing about the server's accident started setting up (which was not his job, but he did it anyway) Lee and Eddies promptly sent another server who worked extremely hard and did a wonderful job. We ended up still serving dinner on time even with the accident. We just wish we had more time to get seconds, there was more than enough food, but the wedding day was such a blur of activity! read more

Unfortunately, I hired Lee and Eddie's in June of 2016, to cater a pre-wedding brunch for 40 and our wedding reception for 200 guests. The bill was approximately $9000 for both events, which was reasonable based on our guest count. On a positive note, our catering manager was very professional and accommodating, and a pleasure to work with. My brunch buffet was drop-off style and was delivered on time. The breakfast was served hot, as expected. The food was mediocre but with a little salt and pepper, everyone was happy. My wedding menu was a disaster. First, the preparation, quality, and appearance of the food was appalling. THE DINNER MENU DID NOT TASTE ANYTHING LIKE THE DELICIOUS MENU WE HAD DURING OUR TASTING. This irreputable company pulled a complete bait and switch. I hired 8 servers, rented China, tableware, and glassware, and expected Lee and Eddies to setup the dinner tables. The staff also maintain two buffet stations, beverage stations, appetizers, and plated our wedding cake. My menu consisted of assorted appetizers, salad, herbed baked chicken, sirloin of been au jus, herbed rice pilaf, baked asparagus parmesan, and stuffed cheese shells. QUALITY:#1) the chicken was tough and overcooked #2)the stuffed cheese shells fell apart and had scattered clumps of cheese and marinara sauce poured on top #3) the asparagus was sitting in oil and was served cold and limp #4) the beef au jus literally looked like dog food sitting in watery gravy $5) the rice was clumped together and mushy. SERVICE: #1) the buffet was served cold and the sternos were not lit #2) the main buffet was not replenished and it appeared that we ran out of food.....but #3) I had enough leftovers for 200 people, as their policy is to prepare 2.5 servings per person. The only entrée that received a positive review was the salad. This company is obviously not experienced and should not advertise that they offer full-service catering as an option. When I think of how time and money I wasted with this company, I am furious. read more
