We decided to come back here to try some other items. Not sure why it took us so long but we finally got around to it. Food was still warm by the time it got delivered to us. Food: Aloo pie with goat. The aloo pie dough is kind of like a dessert bread/timbit but lighter.the sweetness is also light. The curry goat has good flavor and a very nice spicy kick. The meat wasn't tough but not super tender - to me it's still good because goat is a naturally tough meat. Had 2 giant chunks of goat. Doubles with shrimp - this is a messy dish so beware! The shrimp were huge - 2 pieces and cooked well, good flavor. The doubles were soft and fluffy, the chickpeas and sauce were bright with parsley flavor. Mac and cheese - it's literally a giant block of mixed pasta and cheese with more cheese on top crusted. It's why you expect and it's great. It does become monotonous after a while but cmon, it's Mac and cheese - what did you expect? Butter chicken roti - this thing is massive. The chicken inside is decently tender, the sauce is on the sweet side - wish it was a bit less sweet, more buttery? Although that may just be personal taste. I liked it with the pea flour to give it a bit of a different contrast. Also, can get very messy to eat so best to take this one slowly. Price: I think the prices are pretty fair for what you get especially given the huge portions and quality. read more

As a Trinidadian, I must say that the dhalpouri is excellent. The curry goat is decent. We ordered curry goat (came with curry aloo, which was one of the more interesting aloos out in the takeout landscape I've ever had - they had thyme in it), a shrimp doubles, 2-4pk of currents rolls, and a pone. The doubles was eh, it's a shame that huge-big shrimps were rubbery and were leached of all their natural delish flavour. I know curry shrimp is a challenge for most to cook well (without "long-water": for those who know, know). The Pone, was mostly coconutty in flavour, next to the pumpkin in domination. They made it with oil, likely, not with butter, therefore a very dry. And zero spice dimensions. Though, a raisin or two were present. [Acr on Ellesmere/Midland has better, amaaaazing pone with crispy edges and sweeter] There are some hits and misses. But if you don't have a Trini Mom/excellent cook available or just want the convenience of picking up some cuisine that is highly underrated, and highly labour intensive. Let someone else do the work. And support a decent local resto. read more

Covid delivery review! Delivery: 5/5 I'm from Toronto and this restaurant is in Scarborough. Unlike other restaurants they actually do delivery from a very long distance which I loved. Even though the distance was far the food was still somehow hot! They also followed my order instructions when I asked for the roti separate from the curry chicken. Taste: 5/5 Everything was delicioussss! Not my first time here and thus consistency is also a 5/5. I had curry chicken and paratha, where the portions were large, baigan choka which smelled like heaven and currants roll for a dessert. Even after eating all this I didn't feel overfilled or bloated which you would normally feel eating lots of food like this. Authenticity: 5/5 I've tried many trini and Caribbean restaurants. Eating so much at home lately had me craving roti.. so Yelp brought me here :) The owners are super friendly, they took time to run through the menu with me. They realized it was my first visit so they even suggested that I sample a smaller mini roti instead of the larger regular portion. So I got a mini curry goat roti. I finished it straight away in the car. I was sooo satisfying!!! It wasn't too spicy for me (they ask you for your desired spice level), and the roti wrap was nice and warm, layered, not too thick or thin, just right~ The next time I went back I had a butter chicken roti. It's about a dollar more but soo worth it. Compared to the curry goat, I like the butter chicken more because the meat is easier to bite into, I guess, and the sauce blends in better compared to curry which is less viscous. Decided to try this new place during what I have dubbed "takeout Wednesday" while this pandemic lasts where I try local spots and support local spots. I happened to stumble upon this place and figured why not? I am so glad I decided to stop in. This is their 2nd location based off what I've been told. The original location is in Mississauga and apparently they are loved over there! After trying the food, I can see why! The service is awesome and the guy remembered me when i stopped for the 2nd time. I ended up ordering the butter chicken roti weekday special that was $7. I enjoyed the roti, perfect amount of sauce within it and you can choose your spice level. Heads up, medium is not that spicy still but I was ok with it, who wants spicy butter chicken anyways? My husband enjoyed his curry goat roti as well and said it tasted good. He also liked the Pholouries and plantain chips they have. Definitely found my new roti spot when I need a roti fix! read more

Driving along Vic Park, I needed a lunch spot that would satisfy the Covid cravings... anything I can't make at home. This was it. I ordered the lunch special curry goat roti and it was delicious! The meat was so tender! I surprisingly went for the slightly spicy as I was ready to get the medium. I wasn't going to get hot as a first timer here cuz I'm not crazy. There was definitely kick even in the slight but next time medium for me! Roti was light and fluffy. I also ordered a jerk chicken with rice and peas with a side of coleslaw. Everything was just so flavourful with a good amount of heat. Chicken was boneless and so moist. The seasoned rice was very different from what I'm used to but I'm not complaining. I even got a small container of pepper sauce and loved it! This was a most excellent find and I will be back again, and again, and again! Service was spot on as well! I was pleasantly surprised to find Leelas pop up on Yelp when we were looking for a quick takeout option in scarbourgh. I used to go to Leelas in Mississauga for lunch all the time. They're so yummy. And the rotis didn't disappoint at this location either. But something was different, can't quite put my finger on it. There's something different in the curry. We ordered a large curry chicken roti and a large curry goat roti both with parantha. Just a warning, large means large here. Usually I get a mini and am stuffed full. But we got 2 large to split between the 3 us. Also surprised that the curry goat was boneless, I don't recall having an option of boneless goat before. Just opened new branch of the established Leela's brand offering an "opening special" weekday $7 Pick Up any small Roti for an unspecified duration of time (probably as long as the no dine-in order is in effect). Great way make friends and introduce new customers to their food. Recently taken over form previous tenant, the decor will be clean & basic which is still enough for a "presentability" advantage over most competitors in this segment. But don't let the lack of a gritty, patchwork interior fool you into doubting the authenticity of the food! First time was the Curry Goat and from the moment I opened the bag, the smell rushed out and said "real deal". It took me back to the aroma of home cooked Caribbean food I used to smell every day living near Finch/Birchmount, going to schools with Caribbeans and smelling backyard picnics while taking the Chester Le shortcut from Vic Park. Not sure which spice combination makes this particular type of curry or how to describe it but if you've been where I've been you'd know. The flavour wasn't quite as bold as the smell promised, maybe because gravy was a bit too sparse, but still very potent, a very good representation of this style of Curry (which I think is more typical of north Scarborough joints as opposed to Eglinton West or Downsview ). The only fillings was Goat & Potato - which is OK because I don't want too many things getting in the way of tasting my Goat. Next up was Jerk Chicken, boss claimed they ran out of Small Roti - I suggested under-filling the Large but she said they could only sell it full price. I went for it because I wanted to try their Jerk recipe. The Chicken chunks had a nice browning on the surface while staying soft & juicy inside. Seasoning was less bold than Alwyn's or Aneal's but still above average. This time the filling included Chickpeas & Green Peas. Large came to almost $14 which is a couple bucks more than Alwyn's and not as massive. But it had a nicer Pepper sauce and I prefer Leela's fluffy style of Roti shell over the drier, more Lavash-like Alwyn's wrap. I'd probably still chose Alwyn's for a Large when I'm seriously hungry. However Leela's definitely upheld the reputation earned in Mississauga and is a worthy addition to the area. And as long as the Small remains an option near this price point, I will keep it on my short list. read more

The experience was good and the food was tasty. Also, the space was very clean and the service was orderly so really no complaints on my end. I ordered the weekday special roti ($7), and some pholouries (6 for $2.00). Both items were tasty but I especially like the pholouries - they aren't too oily and have a good consistency overall. The food is amazing here and they just opened up! We got the doubles and the bara/roti was so fluffy and moist, the chickpea curry was so flavourful! We also got the Jerk chicken in a Dhalpuri roti- the jerk chicken was proper spicy and the dhalpuri roti was soft and delicious! The Mac and cheese pie was cheesy and soft, and the stew chicken was soft and delicious. I'll definitely be coming back for more!! read more

The owner who took our order was very good at explaining to us what some of the items on the menu were. I actually couldn't finish my Chicken Roti that evening so I kept it for the next morning and boy did it taste good for breakfast. The paratha was so soft. This spot is a fairly new addition to Esquire Plaza and with the good reviews I was eager to give it a chance. I must say I was underwhelmed. The boneless jerk chicken was not only dry but also lacking in flavour. The rice and peas are on the oily side and kind of bland. Covid has taught me I can make better meals at home. The person at the cash counter was really nice and honest. I wanted doubles but they were sold out. I asked him to surprise me with something for a light snack which was not very expensive. The result was . He served us a chicken doubles like dish which was packed with sweet and spicy chickpeas and some huge chicken pieces. The outer dough was crispy and the contents were got perfectly wrapped. We told him we wanted it spicy and boy was I absolutely blown away! This is a great addition to the Victoria Park/Sheppard East area. I have ordered from Leela's and have never been disappointed. The food is very tasty and the owners are always certain to ask how spicy you would like. I have tried the following: Boneless chicken roti (Paratha) Saltfish and bake Almost all the vegetarian dishes Smoked herring with dhal and rice Curried Shrimps and curried chicken (Side orders) Next I have to try the goat, the lamb and the kingfish. I was there and the place was only open for take out die to the pandemic. I ordered a chicken roti and the girl gave it to me wrapped in wax paper in a paper bag. I wanted a quick bite because I had an appointment to go to and I thought I would eat it in my car. The cost was $13.50 which was on the high side already. When I told them that I'm eating it outside and I would need a container they looked disappointed. Then the girl came out with a tine container and said it would cost 50 cents extra. At that point I was pissed, took it to my car and there were no napkins or utensils to eat it with. I asked them several times to make sure they are in there. These may be little things but they lose people business. A container is part of your cost.....I wont be back!!! read more

I bought some double and pholorie few days ago and the pholorie dough was raw, I won't recommend this item. The doubles was ok but it did really have much Chana, the size of the doubles is very small for the price. You better of at Drupati roti and doubles. I will definitely not go back to this place, the staff need to work on there mannerisms. read more
