[Curry goat roti - mini] What's the secret to making a roti picture look scrumptious? The messier the better I guess!
    Rachel W.

Eating so much at home lately had me craving roti.. so Yelp brought me here :) The owners are super friendly, they took time to run through the menu with me. They realized it was my first visit so they even suggested that I sample a smaller mini roti instead of the larger regular portion. So I got a mini curry goat roti. I finished it straight away in the car. I was sooo satisfying!!! It wasn't too spicy for me (they ask you for your desired spice level), and the roti wrap was nice and warm, layered, not too thick or thin, just right~ The next time I went back I had a butter chicken roti. It's about a dollar more but soo worth it. Compared to the curry goat, I like the butter chicken more because the meat is easier to bite into, I guess, and the sauce blends in better compared to curry which is less viscous. They definitely have me coming back. This'll be my go-to roti place until the day I learn how to make my own xD Located right off the 401, it is an ideal place for takeout.

Decided to try this new place during what I have dubbed "takeout Wednesday" while this pandemic lasts where I try local spots and support local spots. I happened to stumble upon this place and figured why not? I am so glad I decided to stop in. This is their 2nd location based off what I've been told. The original location is in Mississauga and apparently they are loved over there! After trying the food, I can see why! The service is awesome and the guy remembered me when i stopped for the 2nd time. I ended up ordering the butter chicken roti weekday special that was $7. I enjoyed the roti, perfect amount of sauce within it and you can choose your spice level. Heads up, medium is not that spicy still but I was ok with it, who wants spicy butter chicken anyways? My husband enjoyed his curry goat roti as well and said it tasted good. He also liked the Pholouries and plantain chips they have. Definitely found my new roti spot when I need a roti fix!

The Pick Up only set up in evening light. Gives some idea what it'll look like.

Just opened new branch of the established Leela's brand offering an "opening special" weekday $7 Pick Up any small Roti for an unspecified duration of time (probably as long as the no dine-in order is in effect). Great way make friends and introduce new customers to their food. Recently taken over form previous tenant, the decor will be clean & basic which is still enough for a "presentability" advantage over most competitors in this segment. But don't let the lack of a gritty, patchwork interior fool you into doubting the authenticity of the food! First time was the Curry Goat and from the moment I opened the bag, the smell rushed out and said "real deal". It took me back to the aroma of home cooked Caribbean food I used to smell every day living near Finch/Birchmount, going to schools with Caribbeans and smelling backyard picnics while taking the Chester Le shortcut from Vic Park. Not sure which spice combination makes this particular type of curry or how to describe it but if you've been where I've been you'd know. The flavour wasn't quite as bold as the smell promised, maybe because gravy was a bit too sparse, but still very potent, a very good representation of this style of Curry (which I think is more typical of north Scarborough joints as opposed to Eglinton West or Downsview ). The only fillings was Goat & Potato - which is OK because I don't want too many things getting in the way of tasting my Goat. Next up was Jerk Chicken, boss claimed they ran out of Small Roti - I suggested under-filling the Large but she said they could only sell it full price. I went for it because I wanted to try their Jerk recipe. The Chicken chunks had a nice browning on the surface while staying soft & juicy inside. Seasoning was less bold than Alwyn's or Aneal's but still above average. This time the filling included Chickpeas & Green Peas. Large came to almost $14 which is a couple bucks more than Alwyn's and not as massive. But it had a nicer Pepper sauce and I prefer Leela's fluffy style of Roti shell over the drier, more Lavash-like Alwyn's wrap. I'd probably still chose Alwyn's for a Large when I'm seriously hungry. However Leela's definitely upheld the reputation earned in Mississauga and is a worthy addition to the area. And as long as the Small remains an option near this price point, I will keep it on my short list.

Half of the $7 roti and some pholouries, with tamarind sauce.

The experience was good and the food was tasty. Also, the space was very clean and the service was orderly so really no complaints on my end. I ordered the weekday special roti ($7), and some pholouries (6 for $2.00). Both items were tasty but I especially like the pholouries - they aren't too oily and have a good consistency overall. Note: it's debit or cash only. Which is often the case at many Caribbean places but just a heads up if you're thinking of checking them out.

The food is amazing here and they just opened up! We got the doubles and the bara/roti was so fluffy and moist, the chickpea curry was so flavourful! We also got the Jerk chicken in a Dhalpuri roti- the jerk chicken was proper spicy and the dhalpuri roti was soft and delicious! The Mac and cheese pie was cheesy and soft, and the stew chicken was soft and delicious. I'll definitely be coming back for more!!

I have to say, the doubles at Leela's is the best I have ever tasted in Toronto. Very authentic.

Summerlicious lunch at Goa $27…read more Appetizer + main course + dessert Food was very good, portion was just right, the garlic naan was a side order which goes perfect with the meal Dessert was refreshing, but service was good, just refilling water was not so great Lovely restaurant m, seating was good located inside Bayview Village

Overall, a solid 4-star experience at Goan Indian Farm Kitchen…read more The Chicken Tikka was hands down the star of the meal--10/10! The chicken was perfectly tender and juicy, with a beautiful char from the grill. The marinade was full of spices that were perfectly balanced, and the smoky flavor was absolutely delightful. My only suggestion would be to serve a bit more mint chutney alongside, as the coolness and freshness of the chutney paired beautifully with the spice of the chicken. The Spicy Beef Kebab was decent, but I have to give it a 7/10. While the texture was great, and the kebab was tender, it could've benefited from a stronger, more distinct flavor profile. The spices were a bit too overwhelming, and the beef lacked the depth I was hoping for. A bit more seasoning and complexity would've elevated it. The Palak Paneer was solid, but not perfect--8.5/10. The spinach sauce was creamy and flavorful, with just the right amount of spices, but I found that there wasn't enough paneer in the dish. It felt like there was a great base, but the lack of enough paneer left me wanting more of that rich, cheesy bite that makes this dish so satisfying. Still, the sauce itself was excellent. The Makhan Chicken with Mushrooms was good but somewhat underwhelming--7/10. The chicken itself was cooked well, but the flavor of the sauce didn't quite have the depth or richness I expected. The mushrooms added some nice earthiness, but overall, I was hoping for a more complex, flavorful dish. It was fine, but it didn't stand out compared to the other items. As for dessert, the Bebinca was warm and moist, but it lacked the depth of flavor I was hoping for--6.5/10. The texture was perfect--soft and almost cake-like--but the sweetness and coconut flavor didn't quite pop the way it should. I feel like the Gulabjamun Rose Cheesecake might have been a better pick, as the Bebinca didn't quite hit the mark. But the true highlight of the meal was the Mango Lassi Cheesecake - 10/10. It was absolutely divine! It tasted exactly like a mango lassi, but in cheesecake form. The mango flavor was fresh and vibrant, while the creamy texture was smooth and indulgent. Every bite was a perfect balance of sweetness and tang, and we wouldn't change a thing about it. It was the ultimate dessert to end the meal. While the food was mostly excellent (especially the Chicken Tikka and Mango Lassi Cheesecake), the service was a bit of a letdown. The greeter rolled their eyes when we asked for a table away from the entrance, despite there being plenty of empty tables at lunchtime. That initial encounter made us feel a little unwelcome, though the staff did check on us afterward, and we still left a tip. The interior decor was beautiful, though--definitely added to the overall experience. Overall, despite the service hiccup, the food (particularly the Chicken Tikka and Mango Lassi Cheesecake) was fantastic, and we would definitely return for the food!
