I signed my kids up for the 16 class family special over the summer and they were able to take two classes a week for 8 weeks and at the end they were able to test their knowledge of what was taught to earn their orange belt. Some of my kids worked for it and earned their belt some did not but they all enjoyed the experience of trying something new. One of my kids really loved it so we enrolled her so she could continue attending classes. The instructors are amazing and caring. They really do a great job helping each student progress no matter how much or how little experience they have. They recognize their students potential and help them work to achieve it so they can be proud of themselves. Since I have never done martial arts before I didn't know how any of it worked but when I have questions the staff are more than willing to explain things to me. I'm sorry but this place is horrible I bought on Groupon is supposed to be 16 classes my girls only did 5 classes!!!! I received the phone call that I had failed to pick my child classes out which I was not aware of to begin with, I figured the first day I said was going to be there on Tuesdays was confirmation enough and you basically picking that day out... I wasn't aware they need it in writing !!!! they could have let me know it was necessary to have it in writing!!!! I just feel like if I didn't do it the first two times you see me it would be nice to give a reminder out. I seriously feel like I got ripped off !!!! And to make things worse Class are supposed to be half an hour long... another thing about this I notice the class or only 23 minutes from beginning to end.. I've also put in a complaint with Groupon waste of time and money!!! read more

Outstanding for any kiddo. We have tried every sport under the AZ sun for our daughter. She's tried hockey, basketball, soccer, and dance. They never held her attention and coaches didn't give much structure. This place is AMAZING! Integrity, leadership and respect are taught each class along with structure. Amazing group of instructors AND students. Everyone gets accepted as family. The instructors are knowledgeable and charismatic. They know exactly how to help you advance. Mr. Delgado is great with all ages, but amazing with the kids. As young as 3 they are learning to be disciplined and respectful while still having a great time. My 3 & 5 year olds LOVE it! My husband and I attend the adult classes and have found ourselves feeling better physically and mentally. We've also made some great friends! Whatever your interest, you will find it here. My daughter often receives one-on-one attention while in a class full of kids, this is how talented the instructor here is! Not only do I appreciate his level of knowledge and care for teaching them how to learn, my daughter and I love how excited and fun he can be as well, making these classes a hit for my little one! She loves going to Lee's ATA Martial Arts Academy more than any other class we tried to get her excited about (dance, music, etc). She's learned how to listen better and is becoming more disciplined. I had a blast when I begun my Taekwando here. Everyone is so nice and friendly in there and are willing to help if they know the material and if you ask. The instructor's are one of the most charming people I've ever met and is always willing to help if he's available. He sometimes would have his highest ranking black belts help everyone when he's not available and they do their job as an instructor assistant very well. Their business hours are available to almost every adult and child alike their uniforms are pretty average and basic. You can also buy limited time apparel, but it only for a limited time period that you can. Overall, I wouldn't ask for any changes, but I sometimes wish there was a lot more room so we won't have to worry about budging into each other as much. read more

Our daughter took classes at ATA for a few months. I should have known from our first class that we were not going to be happy with our experiences there. As soon as you walk in you notice how freakishly hot it is. We got there a little early since it was our first time and we didn't know what to expect. Instead of getting a welcoming greeting, Ms. Clark said "you guys are really early, just go sit over there and I'll talk to you about your options after class." The classes are advertised to start at 4, however they don't start until around 4:15. Classes never start on time and they would often end in under 30 minutes (which is what you are paying for). It doesn't make sense to not follow YOUR OWN schedule when you're trying to teach children discipline. The class itself was ok and our daughter was excited to come back. After the class Ms. Clark was a little nicer when it came to signing a contract to lock us into paying for a certain amount classes. Every time we came back we noticed that the heat situation wasn't changing. Our daughter has hyperhidrosis which causes her to sweat more than most children. The reason we even enrolled her in karate was because it was summer and she could be indoors while getting exercise. We made Ms. Clark aware of our daughters condition as well as our concerns with the heat. Her response was "it does get hot in here, she has to get used to it." All the children are required to wear long sleeve pants and a long sleeve karate jacket. When we brought her to class in a t-shirt and her karate pants we were told that she had to wear her full uniform to participate in classes because the owner will get upset if he see's anyone not in full uniform. So, you guys aren't willing to turn the AC up during the summer in ARIZONA...but you want me to force my 4 year old to be miserable in a hot uniform? As a parent this made me very upset and we told Ms. Clark that we would try,but again, she has a condition and it's too hot in that building. We continued to attend classes for a few more months, but our daughter started dreading it because "it's too hot mommy". Mr. Delgado even embarrassed her by saying "what's up with all that extra sweat" in front of everyone. Overall, this has been a bad experience for not only my fiancee and I, but also our daughter. Ms. Clark walks around with a very poor and arrogant attitude. I don't want a response like the review I saw before this with an apology. There is no excuse for her behavior and no apology will change the fact that she has no people skills. I have a handful of stories in which I needed to ask her a question and got a snarky remark like "well, I'll get to it eventually...but I'm not messing up my pile of time cards". Well, those time cards are required for classes so you should have completed processing them before class so my daughter would be in compliance with the rules that your company sets. I am warning you, do not sign up for this location. I have even tried to call the corporate office to speak with someone, but still no answer. Please save your valuable time and money and trust me when I say that this place is a joke. read more

My son has been a part of this ATA location for about 2.5 years now, he came in as a shy kid with fine and gross motor delays and was being bullied frequently. With time and encouragement from Mr. Delgado he can now stand up for himself in a positive manner and no longer is bullied. He has gone from not being able to look people in the eye to competing and placing at nationals and worlds, and winning multiple state titles. My son who struggled to hold a pencil correctly has competed the last two years with a a bo staff in a way I never thought he would be successful. Mr. Delgado was able to see the whole child and work with him to overcome his challenges and be successful, he pushes him mentally and physically. If it hadn't been for the influence of Mr. Delgado I know we wouldn't have as well rounded a child as we do now. Our time here has been very positive and we will continue for hopefully many years. read more
