Service totally rocks at Lees' Feed in Shingle Springs! I had barely walked into the store and a nice young man offered assistance. Wow! Thanks for that. And by the way... I was more than happy to take that help. Lees' is HUGH! And I mean that in a very good way. Off the bat I noticed how clean and really organized all the inventory is. And so well lit as you can see from my photos. All I needed was bird seed. I buy it in big bags because my birds are like turkeys. They gobble it up. Neighbors had told me about Lees' and said they carried quality animal products and the prices were reasonable. After perusing lottsa bird feed choices... I chose one I wanted to try. A mixture of sunflower chips and nyjer. I have not seen it sold anywhere else... btw. Finches LOVE this stuff. Early Christmas for my birdies!:). I so wanted to take some time and wander around this incredible store. It was like Disneyland for animals. But I had another commitment. Darn! I understand this is a long-time family owned business. Father now to son owner. And one customer told me as I was in line to pay that everyone in El Dorado County comes to Lees' for their animal/pet needs! They sell Western Wear! Yee-ha! You have to be grateful for a family venture such as Lees'. Such a community resource. Easy parking and who knew... a smaller, newer version of Lees' located in El Dorado Hills I will be back. I saw all sorts of possibilities for holiday gifts for my lovely animal-loving friends. Only the best for them! Take a drive up the hill and see for yourself. Open 7 days a week. The best two stores for Pets, Livestock, Reptiles. Birds, Horses and exotics in El Dorado County. If you need anything for your animals they have it or can order it. The store on Motherlode drive features everything for dogs, cats, fish, rabbits, small birds, reptiles, guinea pigs rodents, and other small animals. They sell fish, small birds, reptiles rabbits, live reptile food and pond plants. Next door is a Hay Barn area with pens, fencing and a propane tank refill station. The store above and behind lower store and barn carries everything thing from boots, to medication, feed, clothing, tack, boots, toys, jewelry, and gifts. The people who work at both stores are knowledgeable, helpful and personable. Delivery available for a reasonable fee. read more

A pet store featuring many types of dog and cats foods on one wing, and a fish room and reptiles and small animal supplies on the other wing. I was happy to see the fish room but the lady working in there didn't say a word to us the entire time we browsed. I got a feeling she didn't want me to buy anything because as I would approach a tank she'd rush over to it and start cleaning it, essentially blocking me from viewing it. They had a nice selection of aquatic plants and shrimp, and nano fish. I probably would have bought some fish, but I lost interest with the lack of acknowledgement and courtesy. The store generally smells awful. Rats and mice along with feeder insects perfume the air with their atrocious odors. Some of the other employees were friendly. We bought cat and dog food, crickets and a dog bed. Value was typical for these products. read more

We started going to this store because they carry the brands of dog food that is often hard to find elsewhere. Selection is awesome and service is always great. They offer a reward program for repeat purchases, which helps reduce the overall cost of pet food. Also, they have a huge selection of pet toys, beds and everything else you might need. I used to love this local store. I recently bought some new fish to add to my 60 gallon fish tank. The last fish I bought had just gotten off of quarantine (I know this because I was a frequent customer). The fish from Lee's spread Ich (a parasite) to my tank and killed all of my fish (including a fish I've had since 2012). When I explained this to a manager, they tried to play it off that their fish was healthy and there are other factors that could have made my fish sick. My daughter is very sad that we no longer have any fish because we can't afford to get our tank back up and running. We will no longer frequent or recommend Lee's. :( read more

3/26/2018: Lee's has three different buildings-I'm visiting the Women's Boutique perusing what their inventory might sell . . . A PLETHORA, I do mean a PLETHORA o' cowboy boots galore is beyond impressive! My jaw immediately dropped to the floor when my eyes landed beholding the incredible sight along the side wall-WTH????!!!! Whoa!! I haven't seen cowboy boots displayed anywhere in California like THAT; I only seen retail boot displays located throughout Texas. The retail sales rep stated if, I didn't find the style or brand I wanted, Lee's has the ability ordering whatever style and brand you specifically want and need. Aside selling cowboy and rugged work boots, Lee's Women's Boutique sells nice women's clothes, too. I was pleasantly surprised the different styles within Lee's Women's Boutique's retail inventory; who knew Lee's sells women's clothes? I didn't know anything about Lee's not until a woman named, Karla recommended I visit Lee's! read more

We love coming in here! So many animals to see: NOT JUST ANOTHER FEED STORE! Fish, amphibians, birds, reptiles, salt water, feeder fish and crickets, furry guys for sale too! This is the best place to come due to the simple fact that they aren't getting their animals from mills; the animals are ALL well taken care of, clean cages etc. More supplies/choices than you could ever need in all departments Friendly and attentive staff; who also have vast knowledge in all animals and products there-- if one person doesn't know they ask someone else, I'm never left "wondering" Kelsea, Bella, & Ashlyn are such fantastic employees. So I've been buying hay from Lees feed for about 6 years now. I buy mostly Teff hay for my Haflingers. As the years have gone buy the quality of Teff hay is consistently going Into the toilet.The prices are at all time highs for this type of hay. See pictures attached that showed what I have pulled out of 1 flake of Teff hay and this is just a small amount out of the entire load I received. The large piece probably could have broke a tooth which would be a very expensive vet bill. Wish they would do better quality control of what they are selling to the public. read more

Despite the fact that Lee's Feed has the best crew working their, their prices for dog food has literally priced me right out of the store and forced me to go elsewhere which is fine with me because it's further away that their competition. Does 2.50 cents for one can of dog food sound high ? ? How about 5.00 for a tiny, tiny box of gravy ? You bet it does. I have two dogs which means that would've been 5.00 for morning feeding and 5.00 for evening feeding. At 10 bucks a day that comes to 70 dollars a week, 280.00 a month and close to 3100 a year. This is not the wealthiest area in the Unite States, but we do take our pets health seriously. I do appreciate the large choice they provide, but I DO NOT like having to buy the cheapest food they have because in addition to the already high price Lee must pay for the food, Lee's profit margin must be handed down to the customer. I feel that pet owners will spend whatever it takes to feed their pets the best food possible, the prices here are the highest in El Dorado county. I'm sorry I have to leave Lee, but enough is enough. read more

My husband and I came in to buy some fish for our tank and it was very busy. Emily came to help us and she was awesome! She got us all the fish we wanted, making sure to get the right amount for the schools and pairing of genders. She was able to answer our questions and the questions of others while helping us. Emily worked very quickly but didn't rush anyone. It was a pleasure to have her help us and we are so glad she works there. All the other staff was kind too. read more

The fish section is always stocked with very healthy and colorful fish, they even let you know if one tank contains fish that are not well acclimated or sick. Very friendly fish savvy staff. Love my angels that have all been purchased here. I also like the bug bite food that is sold here. I will continue shopping here for my fish. read more

I love this boutique for there clothes, they always have such cute stuff. Sadly The manager is terrible! She embarrassed another lady working there in-front of the whole store while they were busy. She is rude and always has a dirty look on her face and never smiles or starts small talk. They rest of the staff is amazing. There are mostly teenage girls that work there and they are all nice and very respectful but Dayna is amazing! She is always so friendly and checks in on me while I shop and always offers a fitting room. Don't shop here anymore. Hard review to write, I really like a lot of the people that work there but the business practices are atrocious. I called about a problem with merchandise and instead of handling it or saying they couldn't handle it. They proceeded to try to find someone to blame and wanted to start asking other employees the see if she could find fault anywhere. I had specific instructions that were not followed and then she proceeded to make excuses for bad behavior. And ultimately blamed me while accusing me of lying; the one who brings the money or used to. (Owner) You would be better off losing employees like that than customers like me. I like this store, but the disregard for covid safety made me leave. There was only one employee assisting about thirty people in the aquarium section. This employee was wearing his mask "chin diaper" style (under nose & mouth on the chin). The place was jammed packed, and there were no options to safely distance myself from others. There was another employee wearing her mask under her nose, and I did witness a few illiterate patrons who didn't understand the sign at the front door which says "mask required." This disregard for our community safety will now make me disregard this Lee's Feed's prosperity. I will never shop here again. read more

Lee's is great (horrible parking aside). Competative prices (usually less than your big chain stores), unique selections of food/toys/enclosures, and (usually) helpful staff. We have reptiles,fish,dogs,cats and a ton of chickens and we can get everything we need here. Bonus...the western wear store and toys for kids! Plus a dog grooming area! Service is terrible, all the kids that work there have no clue about livestock or anything. They way the boys load the hay is mind blowing, the do the "wing" method, and just wow, very unsafe and just plain sad to have people load it that way. They have a good selection of equine products, but unfortunately not their hay, long story short, I've bought a lot of alfalfa from them weighing close to 50 pounds. That is called a SCAM or FRAUD. When I get the hay home they will not let me return it, so I just blow it off the best I can spending 26 bucks for Alf. Anyways, their terrible quality orchard is priced at 28 dollars a bale. Your not aloud to load there in the hay barn so you don't really know what their putting in the truck. Some of it is 8/10 and the rest of the hay is 3/10 for quality..... brought my 9 bales home and I'm so disappointed of the weeds, gravel and dirt in my bale, the orchard grass is more like dehydrated straw. I've given this company so many chances and today was my last straw. If you know anything about equine hay, do not go to the place. Go to Douglass feed(I made a mistake not going their for this Trip) or buy bulk from a big company. Will never return and will always go the extra mile to go to a quality sourced feed store. The staff seemed really knowledgeable and there was a large selection of quality dog food to be had. once again...I was only looking for dog stuff...but in the quick glance I took, i saw a wide variety of animal stuff. there was enough dog stuff there to keep me busy in my own little world. prices seemed pretty decent. My dog didn't care for the home made dog treats i bought her but whatever she licks her own butt..so what does she know. they might be tasty. I didn't do Lee's justice in my first review, so I need to amend that. Yesterday we needed to buy some chicks and went to Lee's to see what they had. We ended up getting some super duper cute little Crested Polish Chicks. Oh man are they snuggelicious!! I LOVE LEE'S! There are a few buildings, just to let you know. The pet/feed store is in the very first little section down on the corner. Back behind the feed and pet buildings is another area where the little chickies were in cages lined along the front of a... well I don't know what to call it, a dry goods store, perhaps? They call it the "western store." In the pet and feed area you can get koi, rabbits, mice, budgies, rat toys, food dishes, gourmet dog treats (the kind that look like they came from a fancy bakery), leashes, hay and all variety of pet foods. All of this for comparable or better prices than the big chain stores. My critters' favorite food I seem to only be able to find at Lee's. In the western store you can get cowboy boots, cowboy clothing, cowboy hats, cowboy jewelery - just kidding, but jewelry for real, toys, purses, outdoor items, rain gear, etc. The staff are so nice and helpful! They can answer most of your questions and if they can't they will find another staff member who can. I love the country life. read more
