Ok. I decided to hire a guide my brother had and he had highly recommended to try her out. At the beginning, I questioned her skills and later realized that our guide, Natalie was unbelievable. She knew the river well and the places where the trout hung out. The Colorado river was extremely high. We drift boated in the river and hooked up every time we went down river. I took my friend Dean for his first time flyfishing hoping that he would a least hook up with a couple. Not only did our guide teach him, but he did incredibly well as he caught 9+! I caught my 15+ and made my day. Definitely need to hire Nat again. read more

Well stocked facilities with friendly and helpful folks that surely know fishing and what fishermen need. One downside: guides are hard to get and they seem to be on the high side. Another downer: they are catch and release only. On yes, here's another: you pay twice as much for wader rentals if you don't use their guides even if you are staying at their lodge. I have fly fished all over the world and have been fortunate to visit Lees Ferry on 3 occasions. When I think back about all my experiences, my trips to Marble Canyon are at the top of my list. Living in Southern California, there aren't many trout streams to fish locally, so there is always a trip involved. To Lees Ferry an overnight Amtrak train ride in a sleeper car is pretty cool. We board the train in Fullerton and travel all night, arriving in Flagstaff @ 5 am. Next is a 2 hour drive to get to Lees Ferry. On arrival, there is not much there, except amazing scenery, beautiful people and awesome fishing! On my last trip we decided to fish Sunday and Monday, before boarding the train back home on Monday night. It works out so well, and the train has showers on board, so getting ready for work on Tuesday was easy to manage. Ok, so enough background. I fished with my girlfriend who had never fished a day in her life. Frankly I was nervous about the trip. Being out in the middle of nowhere, sharing a new experience can go a number of ways. On arrival in Flagstaff we had trouble with a rental car. I made a quick call to the fly shop and adjusted our schedule. When we arrived 1 1/2 hour late, everything was all set up and waiting. Ashley at the fly shop had everything prepared, waders, licenses, lodge room, everything...... She was great and super nice. When we arrived at the boat launch we met our guide Nat Jensen. All the gear was on board, including lunch and we were ready to start our day. My experience is that @ Lees Ferry timing can play a big role in getting on the water and catching fish. Flows are controlled by an upstream damn, so being in the right spot at the right time is key. Even though we were late, Nat was so cool. On the ride out, she talked to my girl the whole way and encouraged her so much. By the time we got a line in the water, Stacey was really comfortable. Nat picked water that she knew Stacey could fish as a beginner. As the day progressed, Stacey's skills improved and by days end she landed 4 fish. For a beginner that's a big number! It was very cool to watch. Stacey is a quick study and Nat is an amazing teacher. Even for me, I've fished a lot but Nat answered a ton of my questions about bugs, where and why fish hold in spots, rigging, etc, etc. Things I never knew. Because we missed a couple of hours on day one, Nat started us early on Monday. We ate dinner at the lodge on Sunday and the waitress asked us if we wanted breakfast on the fly on Monday? We ordered coffee and breakfast burritos which were ready and waiting the next morning at 6:45am. Good stuff for sure. So on day two, Nat turned Stacey into a fisherwoman. She caught at least 10 fish ranging from 14-18". The last one she caught from the boat and landed it with a net! Obviously I'm proud of my girl, but as a reader, you should know that for us Nat Jensen made the trip amazing! She is an incredible guide and cares deeply about her clients experience On the train ride home, we couldn't stop talking about the trip and how Nat made it special for us. In total, the company and staff made our experience really perfect. If you can, visit. It is a once in a life time experience that you will not forget. Ask for Nat for your guide. Don't be fooled. ... that chic can shoot 60 feet of line and hit a dime....she can teach and on top of all of that she is super cool!!! Happy fishing!!! read more

Booked a float trip with lees ferry....never again! I have floated several different rivers in the west as an avid flyfisherman I was looking forward to this one.....what a disappointment....theses guys are so cheap its pathectic... first of all ...Ashley was incredibly rude upon our arrival. simple things such as water on the trip...bring your own .which may sound trivial but I'm used to first class service when paying 475.00 for a days float....the guides were really mediocre...especially the clown from Georgia...he knew nothing...imo he should stick to fishing for bluegill ! over all this place has a very unfriendly vibe to it....food was ok but clearly gouge their patrons. these people will nickel and dime you for all they can get....not worth the money. save your money and fish somewhere else that offers first class service! read more

We have been staying at this place for many years. Every year we have major break down problems with the boats. The staff generally treats us like they are doing us a favor. We've spent in excess of $20k at this facility and are always treated poorly. Maybe because we fish on our own and don't use their guides? I'm not sure but we will be looking into other options in the future. read more

It was my best fly fishing trip in years. We stayed at the Cliff Dwellers for 3 nights and fished the "walk-in area" the first day and rented a jet powered boat from them for the following two days. At Calia's advice (she was working in the fly shop) I purchased the flies she recommended and ended up catching 20-25 trout the first day on the river and in excess of 25 trout on the last day. The rooms were clean and the food was excellent. The hired help for the most part were friendly & courteous including Calia & Deb who seem to go out of their way to make your questions and needs were taken care of. However, one thing that could be improved upon is their procedure for checking out a boat to their customers. The young man that helped us didn't explain very much about the boat and didn't bother to tell us that the boat had two rear water drainage plugs, which I've never seen in a boat before. Most boats have just one. Needless to say, after launching the boat I took in a lot of water until I found the other hole & plug. Other than the boat check out procedure, I would recommend Lee Ferry Anglers to anyone. read more
