    Our wave runners on Powell

I checked most of the Page boat rental locations and ended up choosing AZ Power Toys because of the great rates, excellent machines, and Cameron's extraordinary customer service. Next time at Powell I won't have to shop, this will be my first and only call!

She said yes but the benefit of using them was they carried the boards down and up a steep hill. We were there on Saturday April 25th. So we rented two paddle boards and she warned us about the winds. It was like $155. She was nice so we went for it. We get to the site and are waiting around. They haven't even taken the boards off the truck, but we were fine waiting. Layla finally made it up the HILL and had 2 boards taken off the truck and laid on the ground. I asked if any of the MANY men who were there and carrying kayaks down, was going to carry them down. She said no, you carry them. And that hill was STEEP. I figured meh, okay. I was annoyed since we were told they'd be ready for us at the bottom. Layla carried my paddle. Once I saw the hill, I was even more annoyed but I already paid $155 plus $30 entry to the lake. When we got to the bottom, she mentioned when we got back I had to carry it back up. I said I'm not doing that. lol. She held my leash so I could climb on my board. Not an easy task where we were. The paddle boarding was rough but we knew that, the girls at the office warned us. 5 miles later we returned. I STRUGGLED getting off the board and trying to haul it up by myself, my body was shaking and I was visibly exhausted. A young man who worked for this place, WATCHED me struggle. Asked how it was, I said it sucked. He mentioned me carrying the board up that steep hill, while I was shaking from exhaustion and out of breath, and I said "I'm not doing that" and he replied with "why is it heavy?" I did carry my life jacket and paddle...but after that comment I REALLY didn't want to. Layla gave me a water at the top and said to take a breath, I was breathing very heavy. I'd say don't rent paddle boards. You will have to carry them up and down the hill and will get no assistance getting off the board either. But they did carry the kayaks and help those people who also paid like we did, in and out of the kayaks. So maybe rent those and not the paddle boards.

A friend and I booked this event for her 40th birthday and it was the absolute highlight of our trip! We were thinking of renting kayaks and doing it ourselves but are both so grateful that we didn't because our tour guide, Ryan, was fantastic-- extremely knowledgeable, helpful, witty, and patient with us, as we were both beginners. He made it really fun! We learned that Britney Spears shot her video "I'm not a girl, not yet a woman" there, too! This was so worth it and will definitely be coming back and booking with Ryan!

The…read morewebsite maybe difficult to guide when booking but if you are looking for a great deal and value this is it. We got the Wahweap Bay Special where the delivery of the kayaks were free and the time slot for rental is 1pm to 6pm approximately. You could do the single or double kayaks with WazSUP. Billy was definitely informative and personable. He made great recommendations with the routes to go and went as far as recommending restaurants in the area. The only caveat is where the kayak is dropped off, you would need to lift it to the Lake on a slope going and coming which wasn't difficult for myself but could be for others. Billy, the owner disclosed this to me prior and other places I called didn't but it reviews complained about not knowing. You had 2 clear beautiful options in direction. South took you towards the Glen Canyon Dam that gave you an Antelope Canyon feel or North East towards the Ice Cream Canyon which was our choice. Keep in mind this takes about 2.5 - 3 hrs to do in total time. Going through the lake to get to that point could have been deemed tedious as we had to pass two docks, one seemed to have nice boats on the pier, the 2nd had what seemed like boat rentals and after was a very interesting site of houseboats. Once you get pass that then you look towards your right for an entrance on the far side to Ice Cream Canyon. At the entrance there is a smaller rock that you would have to pass that reminded me of Rocky Road Ice cream, once you get pass that you will know you are there as nothing else around looks like this. It reminded me for of vanilla ice cream or a snow cone. It was definitely worth the paddle for myself but not necessarily for someone with no experience in kayaking. If I was to come back I would definitely recommend maybe a jet ski or something faster to be able to see more in a shorter span of time.

The day before our tour, Julia called to let us know strong headwinds were expected and asked if we wanted to adjust our time. We already had a different morning tour scheduled, and they were incredibly accommodating with our plans. At the launch site, we met our guide Logan, and we were lucky that it was just our family of four on this tour. Husband and I wore aqua shoes and my daughters opted to wear their Birkenstock sandals and go barefoot, which was fine if you're okay with getting red mud on them. Logan was friendly, patient, and extremely knowledgeable. I was a bit nervous since I'm a beginner kayaker, but he let us move at our own pace. It ended up being a great workout while still feeling peaceful and relaxing. The scenery was absolutely stunning. The canyon was quiet, beautiful, and not crowded at all. We paddled across Lake Powell and into the canyon, and the cool lake water felt amazing in the warm end-of-March weather (mid-80s). They provided life jackets, offered bottled water, and Logan even took photos of us both on the water and at the end of the canyon, which we really appreciated. He also shared helpful paddling tips along the way. The entire tour lasted about 2.5-3 hours and was a perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. Highly recommend for families and beginners looking for a scenic and well-guided kayaking experience!

Our group completed the kayak and hike which were very much worth it! We needed slight accommodations and Sid and John were reassuring and supportive for both my mom and I. This tour is really for everyone and I can't recommend this tour company and John enough. Because we traveled during off season, we had the entire lake and trail to ourselves. John left much time for us to take cool pictures and was a wealth of knowledge. He made sure to engage with each person in the group and was successful in getting the more shy individuals to step out of their comfort zones. John and Sid (the other employee) made this tour worth it. They provided awesome recommendations for things in the area and also future outdoor related activities in the U.S. Be sure to pack enough water. Remember you are in a kayak and your items will likely get soaked. Luckily they provide one water proof bag per kayak which can hold your phone and camera. If you feel the need to pack more, I recommend that you bring your own waterproof back pack. I opted to go barefoot in the kayak and wear shoes on the hike. You will have to walk through water to get on and off of the boat. Do not let your size and fitness level deter you from this tour. The team is incredibly accommodating and reassuring, making this the perfect tour for all. Highly recommend this tour and either Sid or John!

Of course it was all too many choices so I didn't book ahead and decided to see it before I book. We headed directly to the marina and saw KLP's van parked in the parking lot. We chatted with the tour guide and he was nice and informative about how to get the rental etc. We decided to go with them and called their company directly on phone and paid by credit card. It was quick and easy and we headed down to the loading ramp to pick up our kayak. Getting the kayak down to the water takes a lot of strength. We didn't join the tour because we wanted to take our own time. We saw that they moved the kayaks for the tour members. Getting the kayak back to the shore was the hard part because you need to pick it up and hike up the sandy ramp. It's not for the weak!! Anyway the entire adventure was well worth it because we had the entire day for the rental, the waters were a bit rough going back in the afternoon but the morning trip was quite relaxing. The waters in the canyon was calm and smooth, the hike was amazing and it surely has become our favorite in Page. All the people we met working with the company were great and super friendly! My only complain would be they should warn us about the steep sandy ramp. Nevertheless they totally worth the 5 stars.

I never made one negative comment against Steph she was great. I just made some suggestions on my other reviews and the direct response from 'Paddle Express' "was to place blame while lying" instead of accepting the suggestions in peace. The owner Sean is very unprofessional and a bully with narcissistic mannerisms/behaviors. If you look at his responses to his clients that don't give him 5 stars across other review sites you will definitely see a pattern!! "He takes no accountability" 'HIS TACTIC IS TO PLACE BLAME WHILE GOING INTO a full rant against his clients ". The best response for a professional business owner is 'OH' "not everyone is professional"! "Take some accountability and stop bashing your clients". Nothing and no one is perfect but when you go on an entire rant attacking your previous clients it shows your character. I'm really sorry I chose your company when I booked. There were so many companies I didn't expect blatant bullying. I must say it's okay you can't make everybody happy but one thing you can do is stay clear of people like Sean. Attack me if you must Sean! "NO RESPONSE IS THE BEST RESPONSE when dealing with your type of personality". You're a liar and the truth doesn't exist in your response tactic. Oh and Sean no matter what you say I won't be responding to your blatant lies on Yelp. You're just not a good person and that's on you. I literally gave Paddle Express 4 from the start and now 1 star for 'the lack of professionalism'. No matter at the end of it all "I stand on principal" I will never behave or respond as a professional to my clients in such a derogatory disrespectful manner as you continue to do.

Steph, our tour guide was great, she text us the night before to answer any of our questions and give us the rundown. When we met her the next day, she was friendly and outgoing and energetic. We were in a group of 8, four pairs of two. During the paddle talk, the approaching storm was getting more ominous. The wind gusts were much more than expected and the temperature plummeted. Paddle Express asked us how we were feeling about paddling in this weather and they offered no pressure for us to continue. They allowed us to decide independently of the others in our group if we wanted to continue. 6 out of 8 backed out and they didn't force the last two to cancel which I thought was very professional. We were able to receive a full refund and I would most definitely book with them again. They offered us dry bags, nice life vests, newer paddles and their kayaks were clean (even though I didn't get to actually use one). I like that they take care of their equipment and don't use run down ratty worn out gear. I would definitely recommend Paddle Express to anyone and I'm looking forward to using them on my next trip out here.

Notified them immediately via radio because nobody answered four phone calls. Straight to voicemail. It's 103° and we have two infants. Said we were "a priority". It's 4pm and silence. Lake Powell is gorgeous but this is insane. Customer service isn't second, it's non existent. Absolute clown show. The concession hasn't been put to bid since 1969. Kick Aramark out.

Here are some takeaways from our most recent trip on a houseboat in June 2022…read more.. 1) You have to book this boat 1 year in advance. Expect to pay around $8k plus gas, plus insurance. It's roughy $10k for a middle of the road boat for 5 days when it all adds up. 2) We had the 62' Journey. It did not look like any of the pictures online, it was much dated, but it worked, for the most part. Make sure you check everything before you go - the fridge, freezer, are so important, the generator too! 3) We did a "pre-board" and I recommend doing this if you are renting a boat in Powell. What a pre-board means is that at 5pm the night before you can board the boat, vs. waiting until 3:30pm the following day. This way, you wake up the next day, get checked out and you are on your merry way to find a spot to dock your boat. It's a great way to go. It does cost extra, and also know they will not let you on that boat anytime before 5pm, we tried. If you go this route as well, know that the people working on the dock are busy with the people who are boarding for that day, they are driving golf carts with their luggage and food, etc. and will not likely be able to help you until the next day, if not later in that day, so be prepared to carry your stuff to your boat, if you don't want to wait for someone. 4) Get the insurance. Do not sign up to pay for anything that breaks on that boat, it's $70/day for the insurance and trust me when you look at your boat you are going to want that. 5) If you are not savvy with boats, don't attempt to do anything if it's really windy or there are other poor weather conditions. You will have a hard time, and if there are any conditions like this I recommend waiting til it dies down to move your boat, park your boat on shore, etc. We were listening to the radio at the dock and we happened to come back in on a very windy day. It was A MESS. People losing anchors, things breaking, hitting other boats, etc. Just sit still if the weather isn't good and wait for a nice calm day to move your boat. Honestly our kids enjoyed their time being parked at the marina and on the boat, you aren't missing much and you will be safer. 5) Here's some general houseboating tips -- the slide is fun AF :), bring an iphone cord that adapts to the standard outlet so you can play music or bring a portable speaker, bring DVDs, bring a UHF radio so you can connect with the boat, and/or bring walkie talkies, you will want binoculars to see the numbered buoys, plan your food each day so you don't overpack, keep your meals simple. You do have a cooler and you will need quite a bit of ice, put some ice in your freezer so you have backup during your stay on the boat, ask the dock for a tow rope for your speedboat, and ask the person checking you out for recommendations on where to park, do your research first but ask them, they know best! For the price they charge you could go to a tropical island...the beauty of Powell is that 1) it's beautiful and 2) you don't have any service. #2 is a huge draw for me. It's truly a place to disconnect. You are basically camping on the water, just keep that in mind, it's an experience for sure! We saw Antelope marina on our way in/out of our camping spot. I would consider them next time, their boats looked nicer and they have good reviews on Yelp, they are closer to Padre Bay too, just a thought that was going throug my head...no idea how the experience is there but maybe take a look at them as well. Also the Axiom Star is the best boat, if you can get it. It's really lovely inside. The other one that is on the nicer end is the Wanderer. But if you can get the Axiom -- it's very very nice. Much nicer than what we were on! I had tried to book that a year in advance it was already taken.
