Smoked meats are good. The highlight of this place is if you have kids, they do have an icecream section attached to the building out front and they have a pig...a miniature pot-belly pig, named Ellie-Belle. The kids are given cups of popcorn to feed her after they have their icecream and they love it.

The restaurant wasn't crowded, but there were enough guests to give it a nice atmosphere. It felt comfortable, relaxed, and not noisy at all. We started with the Kung Pao Cauliflower, which was excellent. Even my kids, who don't usually enjoy vegetables, ate every bite. For their meals, both kids ordered brick oven pizzas. My older child had the Labrador and finished the entire pizza by himself, while my younger child ordered the Authentic with pepperoni and really enjoyed it. My wife ordered the fish of the day, and I chose the scallop special. Overall, the food was very good, the service was pleasant, and the waterfront setting made for an enjoyable dining experience. I would definitely return the next time I'm in the area.

All of the staff we interacted with were great and friendly. Our family from this area raved about their poutine, but a recent menu change got rid of it. Despite that they had a variety of starters/apps, sandwiches, pizzas, steaks, plus other entrees including some specials on a separate little menu. Included on that was two cocktails that we tried, I had two of their Strawberry Rhubarb Collins that was light and easy to drink with just enough strawberry and rhubarb flavor. My wife had their special sangria which had tons of flavor. Both fantastic drinks! As a group we split some pretzel sticks as well as some bang bang shrimp. With both being great bites before our meals with the beer cheese and mustard for the pretzels along with the shrimp sweet chili aioli being perfect dips. Lastly for the main event my wife and I were on the same wavelength and got their Vodka Chicken Parm, that originally was to come on top rice pilaf but both substituted for house made pasta. Everything from the vodka sauce, to the house made pasta, to the chicken were fantastic! Would gladly get it again. If we lived around here I would picture this being a regular stop for us! Friendly and welcoming staff with well made drinks and delicious food! Give it a try!

Jake's on the Water - The contrast of lighting doesn't show this well, but we had an "interior" table tucked well back but still had a great river/lake/flow view.

Loaded broccoli cheese soup was watered-down and broccoli was pale green like it had been reheated multiple times. It lacked any flavor and it too was barely warm. Chicken fingers were dry as well. The only thing that was good were the sweet potato fries, the cole slaw, view of the river and the waitress. It wasn't busy only one other table being served so the cook would have had time to prepare our food. When I told my husband he said he could have told me the food wouldn't be good from his experience. I think maybe if we selected a cold cut sandwich that was made fresh that would have been the best pick but we wouldn't eat there again.

There was also a self serve popcorn machine that was for use for all customers. The prices are okay. It was very full, even though there was a large party, there was no wait to be seated. That said, our server was very attentive and took our orders promptly. My two kids both ordered the special of the day, a short rib ramen, while my wife chose the chicken salad sandwich. I ordered their take on a French dip sandwich. The food was good overall, certainly enjoyable and well-prepared, but nothing really stood out as particularly memorable. While I appreciated the friendly service, the overall experience didn't leave a strong impression on me. It was a decent lunch, but I'm not sure I would make a point of returning on a future visit to the area.

Even though it's a butcher…read moreshop and called Hoof and Horn, I actually went in for vegetarian options noted on Yelp. The space is minimalist and gives old fashioned turn of the 20th century vibes. There's obviously a lot of pride and a commitment to local foods here. We ordered the night's cocktail special the New York Sipper -yum- the Raquette salad, two of the small (not small at all) plates that were on special that night: the creamy barley risotto and the butternut squash and mushroom parpadella. As a main course, we shared the house-made mushroom burger, savory and flavorful. Everything was fantastic, with many earthy, fresh and delicious flavors and a variety of textures. We clearly ordered too much food, since the small plates were actually full portion-size. Skipped dessert, although the special was tiramisu. They're under a lot of pressure to compete in Potsdam, but they're doing something that shows classical training and a commitment to quality. Several Finger Lakes wines on the list. Prices are astonishingly low for such an excellent meal. Note: tip is included and there were no "lighter" meats like poultry or fish on the menu. Thus the great vegetarian options, I assume.

I decided on the Delmonico steak medium rare with 2 side options and an appetizer of deep fried pickle spears. To drink just a Diet Pepsi. The pickle Spears were hot when they came out. The salad came first. Was mix of greens and iceberg lettuce with couple small tomatoes. I prefer a salad made with iceberg lettuce rather than mixed greens or Roman. With Italian dressing was good. The steak and fries came with out much waiting. Which was good. The fries were golden brown and crispy. And very good. Not greasy at all. Steak was cooked to my liking and had good flavor. My husband got the St Louis ribs and brisket with beans and Mac and cheese. Our son got the baby back ribs with the dry rub with coleslaw and macaroni salad. I got a burger with the tossed salad. The St. Louis ribs were overdone, the BBQ sauce was overloaded with what tasted like cinnamon. The brisket was cut too large and was dry. The beans were just beans, and the macaroni was overdone and had too much cheese. The baby back ribs didn't have any smoke flavor, and they tasted like they were boiled first. The sinew you find on ribs wasn't even crisp like you find on ribs that have been slow cooked over a smoke fire. There was nothing special about the Mac salad and coleslaw, it lacked flavor. I do have to say my burger was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Somehow I forgot to snap a picture. We would definitely go back for burgers, but not the smoked meat
