The dealership took 3 WEEKS to even get us AN ESTIMATE, and they wanted to replace the ENTIRE electrical system for NEARLY $6,000. We wanted a second opinion. A friend recommended Moshe's Auto Care -- backed up by stellar reviews. When we called, Moshe was kind and honest. He couldn't give us an estimate without seeing the car, but having decades of experience, he couldn't imagine charging thousands for rodent damage. The car was towed to Moshe, and he started work immediately. He was able to repair -- not replace -- the wiring, for LESS THAN $400. And he did it in half a day. I searched far and wide to find a shop to handle a rebuild. Most wouldn't work on an RV or didn't want to take on the project. I called more than 25 shops.! Luckily I finally stumbled across AmStar and boy, they were a pleasure to deal with! They took my RV for an extended test drive (with me along) and then spent time checking for leaks, transmission level, etc. All at no charge. This was not an easy job as the parts had to be found from various suppliers all over the country. They did the search, obtained the parts and completed the job promptly (along with a 25 year warranty). They kept me in the loop. I only found one other shop willing to do the rebuild but they wanted double of the AmStar price! Nickolas is the customer interface person and is an excellent communicator. I got my Porsche serviced here twice after failed repairs at Porsche Bethesda. During my 1st visit, Vlad identified a potentially costly issue (with the catalytic converter), but instead of telling me I had to pay the full amount ($6k) to fix the issue, he looked for cheaper alternatives, and saved me nearly $3k on a solution that still addressed the problem and allowed my car to pass inspection. He totally could have made more money off of me, but he actively didn't. He cared for me personally, and wanted me to get the best deal possible. During my 2nd visit, Vlad identified an issue with my right rear axle. He ordered in the parts to perform the repair, but when he ran into a problem with a parts mismatch (that wasn't his fault), he was forthcoming/honest about it and recommended I bring the car to a dealer instead. Once again, Vlad wasn't out to make money off me, and instead was honest, caring, and wanted me to get the best repair possible (even if it wasn't with him). They had my car all fixed up and ready to go, with all new parts, by the end of the following day. THE BAD: not once but two times the repair was delayed by "we got the wrong part" THE UGLY: I did not notice until after i had already left their shop (did not happen on the 5 min drive to where i was staying to pick up my personal luggage) but there seems to be a spot where the arm of a car lift struck my drivers door chipping the paint down to the bare metal that i will now also have to repair.
