My husband and I toured this community over the weekend. I didn't have high hopes. I was feeling dejected after looking at several townhomes and single-family homes. As a backup plan, we decided on the worst-case scenario; we'd live in an apartment for a year or 18-months so we wouldn't be stressing ourselves out looking for housing during the summer. We met Donna upon our arrival. Donna asked us to help ourselves to cookies and fruit. She went into the back to grab some bottled water for Jason and a pamplemousse sparking water for me. She was welcoming, warm and relatable. Everything I could want in a salesperson, without the smarmy feelings. We were early for our appointment with Amaya, and she approached us with the same energy. Classy, smartly dressed and super kind. The property is like a hotel. Everything is clean, everything is modern. The pool is nice, the spa is fab. It's also above and beyond to have a saltwater pool and spa. The BBQ area is sweet as is the rooftop lounge. The 2 bedrooms/2-bathroom w/balconies or patios are sweet but on the small side. Everything is modern. The gorgeous scent in the common areas is also a nice touch. All the amenities are a dream for anyone looking to live a healthy lifestyle. My husband and I talked about using the gym and yoga studio as well as the pool and spa. We felt like this could be the start of a new beginning with a new apartment, new healthy living, new opportunities to grow and live well. Ultimately, we were selected for a home, so we aren't moving to Legacy. We would have happily moved to Legacy and know Donna, Amaya and the team at Legacy would have made our experience wonderful. read more

Overall, nice and quiet complex to live at. Neighbors are polite, they are always willing to hold the door, and say hi whenever you meet them. As for the management, there are couple of pros and cons: (+) Maintenance work really well, our lamps were glitching in the bathroom and I left a request for Zeke in the evening and he was there to fix it early in the morning. He was kind and polite. There were more instances when we needed urgent fix, Zeke was always happy to assist! (+) Pools and gyms are always clean and empty, so they are always available to use. (+) Security patrol works well. There was an incident when garage door stopped working. So the management hired a 24/7 security. I always felt safe to park my car. (-) There are NO PARKINGS for guests, and the parking spaces are limited to residents as well. For 2BD/2BA apartment, you only get 1 parking space assigned. The next one comes on the rent basis, and it is quite expensive for Hayward. (-) The doors of the apartments lock with an app. So if your phone goes out of battery, you're locked out. Having chips together with the app could be better. Also, when you upgrade your phone, the access has to be obtained from office again. read more

This a place where management will continue to invalidate your concerns. They will do whatever it takes to not apologize for their negligence. All they do is lie about what they have done to resolve any concerns. Do not let these people at the office tell you to leave your bike(s) in the bike room. If it gets broken into, they will not let you know. The garage gate is always broken. The pool/hot tub is always broken. There's not much of a nice view at the so called "rooftop" they have. For +3k a month, this place doesn't even have a printing/computer station. Walls are paper thin, you can hear your neighbors phone vibrate above you and you will also hear your neighbor coughing above you. If your neighbor above you has heavy feet, it will sound like the hulk is constantly walking upstairs. This place is trash for the amount of money you will pay to stay here. Replying back to their response: With our neighbor upstairs smoking, we mentioned this in an email which was never followed up by Gladys the property manager. You guys just say that they're not smoking when we clearly smell cigarette smoke during the day and night and it just so happened that we find cigarette ash on our patio furniture. Imagine if you were living below these people. Over the phone, it seemed like you were very understanding and apologized on behalf of Gladys negligence. It's disappointing to see that you responded like this because we had no idea that you actually don't care and not as apologetic as we thought you were. Stop saying you guys called. We checked our phone records; you guys never called let alone left a voicemail or follow up email. Please stop with the lies and invalidating our experience here. The whole reason why there was a break in at the bike room was because the garage was broken "again" which was mentioned by security the day I found out my bike was stolen. Stating that our experience here is an exaggeration is a reach and your credibility is completely lost with us. read more

Since we moved in, around March, we thoroughly enjoy Legacy at Hayward. The complex only has 97 units which makes it a much more tight-knit community and fosters a sense of safety since it isn't over saturated with a large amount of random strangers that you may only see once in passing. Each door is accessible with special access which ensure that not just anybody can stroll in whenever they want. The gym is nice and features new equipment. Packages either get delivered to your front door or to a special locker with a unique access code. They even have a security guard who actually walks the grounds throughout the night! The on site management is super friendly and does their best to ensure any complaints are addressed and any issues are resolved. They are always here during the normal business hours and I have even seen Gladys here after hours because she cares about making sure residents here are taken care of. At our last apartment we didn't even have an on-site staff! The complex has a pool and a hot tub, a beautiful sky lounge, and a couple of brand new grills. South Hayward Bart is an 8 minute walk away and there are Tesla chargers in the parking garage! Best of all they are dog friendly and we have never had an issue with our pups. Compared to our last apartment, Legacy at Hayward is a 100% upgrade and we have not had any issues or complaints. Honestly, this place is a great complex to live in if you can afford the monthly rate. read more

My sister and I moved to Legacy at Hayward last November and everything was a smooooth process! This is my first apartment and from the facilities (heated pool, gym, and sky lounge) , feels like I'm in a hotel! All the entrances (door to lobby, garage car entrance, even the elevators) can be opened if you have the app so I feel safe in this building. (I had a tour with a different apt and they did not even have a lock or even anyone in their lobby, anyone can go up). The leasing office (Gladys and Shanai) are the best! Very patient with all my questions and honestly, if you're looking for an apartment in the East Bay, you should try Legacy at Hayward! Perfect for small families and couples! read more

don't live here. the staff is extremly passive aggressive and rude for a tiny one bedroom I pay 3795. you are extremely restricted. stalked and regulated for even sneezing in the building. not to mention if you're someone who works long hours and needs family help they are not allowed in the building and will be harassed if in your apartment with you not home. they will bang on your door relentlessly and ensure you have no help or allowance for help with anything if you're on vacation and need someone to watch pets or animals they will not allows them to enter the building or your home without harassment to help you. worst place I have ever renTed from. read more

I wanted to update my review of the place because there have been a couple of things that have happened since my last review that I am dissatisfied with. First, they completely removed all guest parking in the gated garage back in June which was very disappointing. The street parking is always full so it's extremely inconvenient for tenants' guests to find parking. Worst of all, I just saw signs (I'm not sure how long they've been up) that state 1) 2 hours parking only and 2) no parking (right in front of the apartment complex.) So where do they expect guests to park now? Second, the garage gate has been out of service for weeks now. They had a company come out to repair it which took all day, but it's still not fixed. The gate will not close so management had to hire extra security to patrol the entrance of the gate. I've heard of bikes being stolen from outside people so that makes me really nervous. I don't know why it is taking them this long to rectify this. I hope management is able to come up with resolutions for these 2 items ASAP. read more

I've been a resident for over a year and my experience has been really enjoyable. There is a level of cleanliness that is maintained here that I'm sure everybody appreciates. I never have to worry about a mess being left unattended in any of the public spaces. My recent decision to renew my lease was highly influenced by the work the management team was doing. The current management team have been doing a fantastic job at making sure residents are happy and heard. They always give their best effort and any concerns are always addressed in a timely manner with professionalism. I hope they stay for a very long time. read more

I have had a lot of difficulties finding a place with my partner. we looked around for different kinds of perspectives when looking into an apartment safety, management, communication, noises through the night, day time suspicious activity, is it a good place to raise a family? is it okay to work from home and still feel nice about it. well I would say all of those fit into Legacy at Hayward. We have leased here for a year now and I can say with great confidence . this place feels like a resort...sometimes I forget it's an apartment complex. the pool is so beautiful with fire pits for you to relax, television of ocean animals for some peace, the pool and jacuzzi is a decent size and people here respect the rules. management and employment is super helpful, friendly, understandable and protective over her renters(Donna makes sure that everyone is given the best experience possible. Amaya has the most happiest of energies when coming in) ... neighbors everyone knows everyone! people are happy , kind and friendly ! if there is a leak , a spill, some kind of technical difficulty the cleaners/custodians/maintenance are on it!!! this place feels like a hotel resort. always clean, always moving but night time comes people rest, peace around all the outdoor sounds. it's just a beautiful upbringing to live here ! so don't look further cause this is the place to be! read more

From the very first moment I found and actually toured this apartment complex, I knew it was going to be a great place to live. After now being here for a couple months, I'm happy to say that it's been exactly as advertised and I can't say enough positive things about it. The great experience started first with Amanda and Gladys who were super friendly, very responsive to my (many) questions throughout the touring/leasing/move-in process, and you can tell they genuinely want everyone who lives here to enjoy their experience so huge shoutout to the staff. The apartments themselves are brand new and thoughtfully designed, the amenities are awesome, the staff puts on community social events regularly, and the complex is about a 5 minute walk from Bart. If I could give this complex 0 stars, I would. The leasing/property management team here are non-responsive and dismissive to the concerns we've addressed to them. My partner and I have been living in this community for over half a year now and we have come across multiple issues. At first, we have tried to be as understanding and cooperative as possible. We even ignored some of the issues we have experienced right when we moved into this complex. During the first few months of living here, we consistently dealt with our packages getting delayed as the parcel system here wasn't working as it should. The shipping carriers had a hard time dropping off our packages which then led to misdeliveries/delays. There were many times we had to call the shipping carriers so we can coordinate the deliveries ourselves. Although this was pretty frustrating on our end, we have put up with it. We also expressed our concerns regarding the neighbors living above us. Now, the walls here our paper thin so some noise are expected to be heard; the fact that we can hear our neighbors coughing, talking, phones vibrating or doing whatever they do at odd times middle of the night/early morning. Our upstairs neighbor not only stomps hard but they also smoke inside their unit, and somehow, the cigarette smell travels down to our unit. There was an instance where they ashed their cigarettes onto our patio furniture which we then took pictures of and sent it over to the management team. The management team never responded to the pictures we sent to them. What we find really disappointing is when the property management did not inform us about the break-ins that happened in this complex which led to property loss. We had a bike that was stored in the bikeroom and it ended up being stolen due to this break-in we were never informed about. First off, the leasing team was the one who told us to keep our bike in the bikeroom as they don't want bikes being stored in the patio for aesthetic purposes. We complied since they made us feel like this place would be secured. However, that's not the case. The security they hired here doesn't seem like they work everyday either. Up until this day, the property management failed to give us the phone number for security which I find very strange. We escalated this issue to the team and Gladys, the property manager, stated that one of her consultants called the bike owners after the break-in which is a lie - we looked through our call history logs and didn't find any records of the office calling us. Also, it doesn't change the fact that they didn't do their due diligence by sending an email regarding this situation for traceability. Due to their lack of communication, we weren't able to file a police report right away. The lack of follow-through from the property management is very disappointing. We feel like the only time we get some type of response is if we keep pressing the issue and/or if we keep reminding the leasing office ourselves. Otherwise, our concerns are swept under the rug and will be forgotten unless we continue to bring our concerns over and over. They lack sympathy and does not take accountability for their lack of communication as well. This place is not worth the amount of money we pay to stay here. For 3k+ a month in a smaller community, you'd think they would have a faster response time and better customer service. They up-charge on every little thing, including the coffee in the lobby which is ridiculous. read more

My initial interaction with Gladys was great so I decided to move in. But after that, the service was just downhill. Amanda and Donna were so rude and the least helpful people. When Donna moved in her room smelled so bad it stunk up the whole hallway for weeks. There were things broken in my apartment when I moved in and ants were coming in from the outdoor area. I informed them of this early on, so there was no misunderstanding, and I was reassured that this would be taken care of but nothing happened until I finally decided to move out. I decided to move out early while deciding between different job offers, and Donna made the process terrible. I had to pay $9,425.68 to break my lease and she mocked me during the process while looking for ways to add new charges to the amount. Donna told me that my apartment looked immaculate because I kept it very clean, but stole my entire deposit. I complained to her higher up Christopher about the treatment and he reassured me that he would give me back my deposit. I never received my deposit and when I emailed him back about it he blocked my emails. This was a terrible experience. I would definitely not recommend this place. read more
