I've been very happy living here for the last few years. The buildings are well kept, the maintenance staff is helpful and friendly, the office staff, for the little I've interacted with them, have been pleasant. That is until about 2 months ago when a new neighbor moved into the building and they are constant smoking pot and cigarettes. So much so that my home office often smells like a bar in the morning when I start my day. Since this is non-smoking complex I've reached out to the office staff multiple times. The only way they addressed it was to send an email to the entire building reminding us it's a smoke free complex. That was two weeks ago and nothing has changed. I haven't received responses to my emails and the staff hasn't done anything to address it with the unit in question. I've gotten threatening letters from management about a bird feeder, but seemingly nothing about smoking in a non smoking building. read more

I don't know what the fuss is all about. My husband and I lived here in 2018-2019. We would've renewed our lease but living on the 3rd floor with a newborn was not the place. Although it is doable for some, it just wasn't for us. We moved when my baby was a month old. We had the Acacia layout which was very spacious for two! Our building (75) was covered with large trees so our place was always nice and cool. Blair was our gal. If we ever had any issues she would handle it immediately. Maintenance was awesome as well. They were always one phone call away. I honestly loved this complex so much. It was very safe as well being across from the police station. Highly recommend it to anyone looking! read more

This place looks nice but the staff is not. Martha has the worst attitude ever. She acts like people go here to ask for a rent-free apartment. Someone needs to tell this woman to get her feet on ground, she needs to change her attitude ASAP, she looks so bothered by people asking her questions and she barely answers them. Overdue review, lived here from Fall 2014 to 2015. PROS: - Quiet neighborhood, mostly working professionals. No loud families with kids/younger people throwing parties. - Street parking available for guests. - Large living space - Washer/Dryer in unit. - No issues with lost package, responsive front desk. - No issues with safety/theft - the police station across the street helps. - Very close to 92/880 highway. - Short drive to Hayward Bart station (2.50 for parking per day) - Responsible pet owners pick up after pets. CONS: - Higher rental costs compared to other apartments. If you plan on living in Hayward long term it may make more sense just to buy. - If you live near the train tracks it can be noisy at night. If your unit is next to or on top of a garage, be sure to check out the garage noise before you move in. Some garage doors can be quite noisy when opening and closing. - No elevator, only stairs, which may be troublesome for people living on the 3rd floor. TIP: If you plan on moving in, check the website daily before signing a lease as rent prices can fluctuate by a couple hundred bucks based on demand. read more

My boyfriend and I have lived here a year now and we absolutely love it. The management, Christy and Reuben, are so friendly and helpful and have made our experience here very positive. We Love this Place! My husband and I have lived here for almost three years, unfortunately we will be leaving here soon for our next location. Amador Village has been a life saver, we needed to be in this area because of my hubby's work. This apartment has everything that we need. Washer and Dryer, great floor plan, and they let my big dog stay here!! I feel safe here, I looked at a lot of other apartments, and none of them had the ambiance that we are used to. I love all of the lush greenery, there are different types of trees and plants, there are paths and water-features, and the swimming pool and spa are just gorgeous. Our absolute favorite part about living here has to be the staff. Christie and Ruben in the office have been so friendly and accommodating. I've lived here for two years and am staying for a 3rd. The two bedroom is spacious, has a washer /dryer, an air conditioner for those warm days, and they accept pets! I have great neighbors in my building. The people who work in the front office are great and the maintenance people fix things immediately. This is a good place to live. read more

I moved here in September after my old apartment wouldn't renew our lease (stupid Carmel Creekwood Apartments). I apartment hunted for month, and I fell in love with Amador Village apartment. Not only is it located close to my work, it is also close to the freeway and local attractions. I love the layout of my apartment, and I also love the fact I have a washer and dryer in unit. I opted to pay extra for my garage which made parking convenient for my husband and I. The price was reasonable when we first moved there, though many residents we ran into left because the price has been increasing. Last I heard, our same unit is now a crazy rate. With the increasing rent in the Bay Area, I think Amador Village is still a reasonable choice. The staff also makes this place amazing. They are always accommodating and super friendly. read more

The pricing is aggressive to live next to train tracks, a probation center and in a relatively odd industrial area. I've lived here for a few months, and next year it probably makes sense to head over to the peninsula. It's convenient to the highway, and the grounds are kept in good condition. Lived here for a year in 2018/2019 in a one bedroom apartment. I moved out because of work. The unit was huge, with plenty of storage space. The community is nice and quiet, management have always been responsive to the few inquires I've had and I've never had any major issues. I had to create service requests only a few times because: - bathroom light bulb went out - it was replaced immediately - bathroom fan stopped working - it was also replaced immediately Pricing is a bit better than Bay area average except for utilities. There is usually plenty of street parking for guests, there are 2 basketball courts and 1 football field right next to the complex. Neighborhood is ok, don't expect to have much to do though, except playing ball. While I was searching for a new place further north on the East bay, I didn't find a place which offers a remotely comparable value for the price. The year I spent at Amador village was great, didn't have any problems and would highly recommend it to anyone considering it. read more

Will charge you an arm and a leg when you move out to repaint or change carpets. I have only ever seen them change out carpets and paint after someone leaves, even if the place is in good condition, so they can put in wood flooring and charge higher rent. This place is a rip off. Apartments are made of the cheapest materials possible, the train nearby is loud af, only good thing about that place was Blaire and maintenance who seemed to be the only ones who knew what they were doing. Rent increases, rent increases, and yet still more rent increases !! I guess it's a law of physics which dictates that the rent MUST ! increase at the renewal of every lease, and not just a small amount either, but closer to 10%. It's just the "market" of course, and there's nothing that can be done about it. The residents are just basically cash cows here to give the parasite owners/investors more and more of our income, even though our wages are stagnant and we don't receive the raises necessary to afford those totally unjustified and immoral rent increases. Yes, it is morally wrong to hold people hostage in their homes who just need a decent place to live, by extracting every last dollar you can embezzle out of them ! Your greed is shameful and needs to stop. We are not just an "investment" for you to take advantage of but working families living in a mostly working class community who are just trying to get by. You may be interested to know that now rents ( possibly YOUR rent ) have been turned into a financial security which can be bought and sold on the open market, just like the sub-prime mortgages which were bundled in the same way and led to disastrous results. So, these investors who buy these securities have no interest in keeping your rent down and affordable, but every incentive to increase them to squeeze maximum profit out of YOU, the renter. Wherever these out of touch investors/owners live, just know that that rent increase you impose could be a car payment for someone who needs a better vehicle to get to work; some money to save for a kid's college tuition; a doctor's bill; hell even a little better quality food for a family to eat. There's nothing wrong with getting a decent return on investment if you buy or own a property to rent, but this is just plain predatory. So screw your version of capitalism ! It's gonna end soon, cause rent control is coming to Hayward, come hell or high water ! However, kudos to the management and staff. They are great and take care of any problems with great dispatch. They are courteous and very helpful. It's the owners/investors I'm addressing here. And the apartments themselves as well as the grounds are pleasant and well maintained . No complaints there. Everything works and if it breaks they will fix it pronto. It is also a gated complex which helps make it feel safe and secure. Probably great for yuppies who don't care about the cost. It's just the rest of us, the vast majority of the population, by the way, who are getting squeezed. However , I would have to disagree with you on your reference to a "competitive" rental market. I interpret that word as a euphemism for pure GREED. It is only competitive because greedy landlords and investors have made it so by charging exorbitant rents to a captive market. The result is displaced individuals and families who can no longer afford to live in the neighborhoods they grew up in. That really wrecks the vitality and lifeblood of the community. No, we cannot all live in Malibu, Sausalito, or Beverly Hills. But this is Hayward, a working class predominantly African American community of people who work hard every day for a modest income. So called competition drives them out farther and farther away from their hometown, fragmenting what was once a great and AFFORDABLE place to live. If these property owners want to invest in something, invest in stocks, bonds, or commodities. But stop preying on the livelihood of human beings with limited means as an investment. We are not here to make you rich so you can enjoy a lavish and UNEARNED lifestyle. I think our apartment community, Amador Village, is going to price itself right out of the market if they continue on the greed train. Look at all the tenants who have moved out recently. I notice many apartments are now empty which once housed people who enjoyed living here. No one wants to be gouged and they had had enough of these rent hikes, as have we who are current residents. Yes it is a nice place, but not when it becomes increasingly unaffordable. If the owners/investors have any conscience whatsoever they would see this. But I doubt that will happen. They probably live in gated communities far far away and could care less what impact their rent hikes have on everyday working people. But guess what ? Their little greed fest is coming to an end soon as the people here have had more than enough of being used. Activists and volunteers for rent control are gathering as we speak to force this issue on the ballot and finally bring rent control to Hayward as it's already happened in Richmond and Alameda. And to the greedy landlords, property owners, and investors, I say this : YOU'RE GONNA LOSE !! read more

Amador Village - Apartments Near Me - Hayward, California

I lived here for the last 2.5 years in a 1 bedroom Maple unit and here is my feedback about that experience: 1) I lived in a one-bedroom and it was very spacious (900 sqft) which is unheard of for the price you pay for rent in the bay area. It is also a gated community with a good size lap pool that is actually clean. Their gym is neat and also very clean. It is small, but it's free and it has in it what you need. 2) The interior of the apartment is light and airy, it's clean and pretty updated looking. The kitchens are white and modern - not the thickly painted on white color like you see in other places or the overused wood that has seen it's heydays. When I moved to the bay area I looked at A LOT of apartments and most of them were dingy looking, not updated at all - the had the 70s mustard green kitchen appliances, old appliances, old overused cabinets, etc. I thought I was stuck in the twilight zone while they were expecting super high rent for only 600 sqft offering the look and feel of the "back alley 60s and 70s and asking for Silicon Valley prices. 3) The place was perfectly located - close to US92 and 880, close to the police station and court house. It was super easy to get everywhere. There is a Starbucks down the street and the baristas there are super nice. There is also a Safeway (which is horrible, it's the ghetto edition of Safeway unfortunately, but you can go to Castro Valley which is close by to go to Trader Joe's and a really nice Safeway). A 24hour fitness is also close by, but I would not go there if you paid me - it's the ghetto edition of 24hour fitness (dirty, it smells, and the guys working out there stare at you like you are a steak on legs - it's ridiculous). 4) The staff there is friendly and helpful. Christie has been the apartment manager since I moved in and all I can say is that she has been super accommodating - taking care of business when any need came up in my apartment. The maintenance staff is nice too. They have had some "doosies" working there as support staff, but they did not last more than a few months. Also, I think there is an easy trick to dealing with people (whether that is a landlord or anyone else) - if you go in with an attitude you are probably going to get an attitude back. I have been in their office before when tenants came in with an issue and a really messed up attitude, so in essence, you get back what you put out into the universe. 5) Rent is definitely high, but it is no higher than other apartments in the area who offer the same value. Meaning, if you want to pay $900, then you will in an apartment worth exactly that. If you can afford to pay $2400 for an apartment, then there are definitely nicer ones out there. But the rent I paid was reasonable for what I was getting considering the area of the country we are living in. The rent increases are also average for the area. I am a researcher, so trust me, I do research all this stuff and all I have to say, they are not ripping you off. 6) Location - I already mentioned before that it is located close to where you need to be to get anywhere. I worked on the peninsula and it took me about half an hour to get to work. Traffic is a mess anywhere in this area, so you need to adjust your time to avoid the insanity. So, it's your choice. Also, Hayward is definitely not the gem of the bay area - but, the city is working on revitalizing their downtown and that is less than a mile away from the apartments. They do have some pretty neat bars and restaurants there, so it's not all that bad. Their mall is another story - it is about half a mile west of the apartments. When I read people talk about how ghetto Southland Mall is, all I can say is that it's really no different than the malls I have recently visited in Florida and Georgia. It's not ghetto, it's just not well taken care of and with that, losing lots of its potential. You don't see the snooty booties walking around as you do at Stanford shopping center or the entitled teenagers you see at Stoneridge Mall. Also, when people say that Hayward is ghetto and dangerous with high crime rates...during my stay I have not experienced anything like that. I have only seen a guy peddle drugs at a gas station when I first moved here. It's not "Pleasantville", but it's not Compton or Inglewood either. It is a diverse community. If you have a problem living around minorities or living around people who are not in the top 1% (or even 20%), then these apartments and that city is probably not for you and you are better off moving to Burlingame or anything south of that on the peninsula or you can move further east to Pleasanton. With "all that" being said, give it a try! I enjoyed it and would definitely move back. It is cheap - definitely not - but you do get what you paid for unlike other places in the bay area. read more

This place is horrible! They will rip you off. The place is built from the cheapest materials available... plastic tubs, particle board cupboards, cheap carpet. There are vagrant cats that live all over the property. There are tons of bushes but they are all infested with bees and wasps. They will use your deposit to clean the carpets and apt even if it is in perfect condition. So dont plan on getting any deposit back. All the tenants park in the guests spots so your guests will have no where to park. The office hours are suppose to be 9-6, although most of the day they keep a sign up that says back in a few hours and they never come back at that time. The great thing about this place is the pool, workout room, common office and rec room with free wireless in that common area. That's offset by the actual apartment. One of our bathrooms smells like cigarette smoke every day. If we turn the fan on all day, it will go away, only to come back again later, so it must be coming from another apartment, but upon complaining about it, nothing was done. The apartment fills up with smoke from someone barbecuing every once in a while. It generally doesn't feel very clean, permanent stains in the bathroom, sorta greasy carpet, and walls with about 50 layers of paint (scared to know what it's covering up!) We accidentally turned on the heater for about 10 seconds and the apartment filled with an odor of something burning. Dish washer had broken glass in it. And now to top it off, there are workers literally hammering the bedroom walls all day long for the past two days. And not any small taps, big booming pounding! Not great for me, a home office worker and father of a toddler who needs to nap. Workers are also walking around on our patio on the third floor. They sent a notice that they would be painting, but this is downright creepy and unacceptably noisy. If a neighbor made this much noise, they'd be evicted. Thankfully, we're only here for the short term and I am grateful that this place offered a short-term lease, but I cannot wait to move! (10/18/2013 update) Oh geez, adding insult to injury, upon move out, we got charged $200 for "prorated paint" after less than a 3-month stay and zero holes put in the wall. Nothing was even touching any of the walls! I guess that explains the heavy coats of paint, though... And management's reply would indicate that we never contacted their office to complain, but we called, emailed, and went into the office for each complaint, which was necessary since voicemails didn't once result in a call back. But honestly not irritated about that, very irritated about any suggestion that we didn't reach out to let them know about each thing. read more

I lived here in 2011, the rent started out affordable but went up steeply after my intro price expired. I had some issues with silverfish because of the lush gardens. I also had a neighbor that was complaining that I used too much water apparently??? I was told this by another tenant! Management does not care about tenants at all. They will do whatever they need to improve profits at the cost of the current tenants. They don't give any notice before starting major projects that are incredibly loud. There are raccoons everywhere. Parking is a nightmare. Your neighbors will constantly hit your car leaving marks on it without caring. If you want to have guests over good luck getting them in conveniently and finding anywhere to park. Management will tell you there's a great park next door to take your dog to even though they know dogs aren't allowed at the park whatsoever. There is absolutely nothing walkable from this complex. They close facilities CONSTANTLY so what are you paying for? The only upside to this place is the building itself being fairly sound proof, but that's negated by the constant trains making it impossible to get a single night of uninterrupted sleep. The whole apartment is made of plastic and particle board so that it all falls apart within the year, ensuring you cannot get your full deposit. They didn't even bother to clean up before moving us in, everything was covered in dust and black smudges despite it being "brand new". I've never had a worse experience living somewhere and I've never paid more for an apartment. read more

Amador Village is a beautiful place to live. The landscape is lovely green and lush. Redwood trees and flowering plants all well cared for. The grounds and the club house are a pleasant source of enjoyment and pride. People are friendly and quiet and the staff is really professional and reliable. They are always working to make the property safe and neat. The clubhouse is really cool and modern, people use the gym facilities and wonderful outdoor pool appropriately. It's really nice and I'd recommend it to everyone. We've lived here for three years in a one bedroom place. Our apartment is in the Village Court where there's no traffic at all. We love the modern conveniences with many services on line and good communication between management and tenants. Whenever anything needs fixing they are right on it making repairs quick and easy. read more

DO NOT RENT FROM A PROMETHEUS OWNED PROPERTY in Hayward. The company is out to make the largest profit possible and once you move in they do not care about you. Prices are way too high and on top of that they are scam artists. They will let you in at a decent market price and after your term expires they will offer you a "good" market price which is way more than the your previous rent. The rent increases every year by a great % even though they have many vacancies. They loose money on vacancies so they try to cheat people with huge rent increases. Some units are next to the train and it is very noisy. On top of that there is a noisy construction, which does not let you sleep from early morning. Stay away from this place!! read more

I have lived here for two years in both a one bedroom and two bedroom unit, and have been very happy. The pool and spa area have been upgraded and are much nicer. The maintenance is quick and efficient and the grounds are maintained frequently. The location is awesome with the freeway nearby and walking distance to a couple of great restaurants. The only concern, if you will, is the cost but you get what you pay for...definitely very spacious super convenient to have a washer and dryer in unit. Too bad I do not have the option of putting zero stars. My fiance and I were really interested in this apartment complex and set an appointment. When we went to our appointment, a guy was there and said we didn't have an appointment set. The lady that scheduled it did not put it on the calendar. He also was there temporarily and he didnt know much about the apartments. He gave us a tour of a sample apartment, but said he knew nothing about that leasing information etc. He was also pretty upset because he had to guide us "without" an appointment. I called back the next day to make another appointment and to discuss further leasing information. I left a message TWICE and never heard back. I just moved in to this community a few weeks ago so my experience is limited. What I can comment on, however, I couldn't give anything less than a five-star rating. I will say that the units are not cheap to rent, but you get what you pay for. Yes, amenities like pool, fitness center, automated package concierge, etc, are fantastic. The unit we rented is spacious, very clean, and newly remodeled, but to me, the real value is the onsite management staff. Rhonda and Blaire have both exceeded my expectations. They are not only friendly and helpful, but seem very genuine in their attempts to ensure my level of comfort. These days I find this level of service to be mostly lack luster wherever I go. Not here! Accolades to Rhonda and Blaire as our decision to rent was very much based on their work ethic and dedication to customer satisfaction. read more

Let me start off by saying that the staff is great, the apartments are spacious, and the common areas are very well kept. However, the price of rent is high especially for Hayward where you can rent a house or a condo for less than what the rent is here for a two bedroom. With that you would expect that for the price you would have ample parking space. And there was until someone in management decided to remove most of the visitor spots and start charging to get an extra spot. You would think at $2154 for rent and paying for water and trash( roughly $150 on top of rent) they wouldn't nickel and dime you for parking, but they are at $40 for a spot outside and $80 for a garage space that is shared with three other vehicles. I was very pleased with the place, regardless of the price, until they implemented this. Now the folks that don't work have hoarded up the maybe ten spots of visitor space and everyone else has to park out on the road. I would have recommended this place but now I would say look elsewhere bc there's better out there. I'm just gonna wait till my lease is up and I'm out of here. read more
