BEWARE: Bad management, UNSAFE, you deserve better! Don't be fooled by the pictures. Bad Absentee Management: I was a tenant at City Centre for a little over 3 years, during this tenure I witnessed a steep decline in the quality of management. There used to be a leasing office and an on site community manager, during the pandemic they closed the office and you will rarely see an employee on the premise other than than maintenance. You'll need to call (they never answer the phone) or email management (you'll wait DAYS for a response to unless you're a potential tenant they want to money from). High Turnover: City Centre had no less than 5 different managers during the time I lived here. You'll be met with a rotating cast of anonymous employees via email who will copy and paste canned unhelpful responses. This is a red flag that it's not a good place to work in addition to not a good place to live. Predatory Towing Relationship: City Centre has an agreement with a tow company for the property. My car was towed TWICE when I had my issued parking permit in the car each time. The tow company damaged my car during the transit, concealed the damages, and eventual apologize and paid for it. Please don't subject yourself to this if you don't have to. Live elsewhere Crime: Due to the proximity to Hayward BART which is is right over the fence, homeless and criminals frequently find their way into the property breaking into cars and dumpster diving. A couple of months before our moved out there was a manhunt with police who had automatic weapons in the city centre parking lot. Moving Out: You aren't getting your security deposit back, period. I was charged almost $400 in mysterious "admin fees" which sucked up the majority of the deposit. These evil private equity groups that own large properties will take your money and hide behind anonymous emails with canned response and complete dismiss you. read more

Unfortunately, we just moved into this apartment complex not even two weeks ago and we had two of our cars broken into on the same night. They were not parked inside of the apartments, they were parked across the street. When we were looking into these apartments, we were told that we'd be able to purchase extra assigned parking or garage but when we called to do that, we're told there is a long wait list, 8 people ahead of us.. I really wish the person we spoke with would've been more transparent on some things with us because we know how much crime there is in Hayward, especially this area filled with homeless and we only chose it because we thought we could purchase more parking inside. Another issue was that the place was not very clean when we moved in, we had to do most of the cleaning which was unfortunate. We left the previous apartment we lived in cleaner than how we got this one. For example, behind the toilet was very dirty, I put in a request and was told by Aman (maintenance worker) that it was just trapped dust and very hard to reach, we cleaned it but it was not hard at all to reach.. why was it not cleaned before we moved in?! Makes me wonder if anyone from management came to look at the place before we moved in.. A positive, Renato (maintenance supervisor) is great at his job. Lease ends 1/2, i tell them 12/23 Im ending the lease. I don't know since im supposed to give them a 30 day notice, they will be charging me til the 23rd of January. Since i dont know this information, i make sure im out by 1/1. They hit me up on 1/2 asking where the keys are and they will be charging me a daily fee for keeping the keys. (If i am paying til the 23rd why would you be charging me a daily fee unless you expect me to be out by 1/1). I give them the keys same day. They email me on 1/14 with the charges left in the apartment and that's when I see the rent price of 1700 til 1/23. Never paid late, never had any issues and this is how they treat me. My response is, ok since I am paying til the 23rd, where can i pick up the keys to have access 1/14-1/23 and they tell me they can't do that as I have already moved out and they're fixing it up. My roommate and I were informed that we could park in front of the leasing office after hours first come first serve without a permit. i parked in the green after hours and was towed while other people did not have a permit as well. they should train their employees to not give misinformation. We were informed all white spaces needed a permit. If we knew this information i would not have parked there and have to pay a hefty fee to get my car back. I'm really disappointed. read more

Terrell and Team, including the maintenance team too! Are great. I've been here for 6 six years and have seen changes to paint jobs, new parking spot additions, door lock upgrades and more. And with all the changes the thing that stays the same is the great customer support and down to earth spirit of the City Center Team. Located in Downtown Hayward, this place is really a hidden gem. A walk away from the Bart station, down the street from Cold Stone, Lucky's, Century zombie theater, a Farmer's Market that appears every Saturday, this place is hard to leave once you get here. If you're looking for community, come here. You'll notice smiles from those around. Times are tough, yes, but here it feels a little less like a struggle. And you'll notice when you buzz into this gated community, they all of a sudden you're smiling, too. I had my ups and downs here, like anywhere, but after 6 years, I have experience way more Ups. I lived here for one year. Maintenance staff is great, they take care of any issues asap and are extreme friendly. Place is a little too dirty for the price you pay. If you get an apartment with a view (the pool) prepare to hear kids scream all summer and Loud music. They raised my rent 10% lol, literally $212. They don't try and keep their residents. They could care less. I also obviously only lived here for a year so I left the place exactly the same. They only returned 95$ from my $600 deposit. Apparently in the lease it says REGARDLESS of how clean you leave the carpet, they will charge you $125 to clean it after you leave. And $220 fee to clean the apartment even after I spent 2 days cleaning it. The management here sucks. Obviously. read more

Horrible customer service. I have attempted to make contact with the manager via phone calls and emails but no response. My family lives across these apartments and one of the residents from this complex has been harassing them for almost a year. He throws trash in their private property and containers filled with urine. The man has been seen throwing trash into other homes in the area as well. However, no one in the area has had luck contacting the manager in making a complaint about this resident living in these apartments. So upsetting that I have to come here for a response. On Friday 07/26/24 I inquired about any available apartments and Nick responded back to me with your dates and times. I applied after viewing because I like the complex but after submitting an application Nick ghosted me. I've been calling, emailing and texting since Monday 07/29/24 and still have NOT received any response about the status of my application. I've called about 5 times and EVERY time there's no answer. I am really upset it has come to this. At this point I feel like I am being SCAMMED by Essex. I had to pay $396 to apply and now I can't even talk to anyone about the status of my application because no one wants to answer the phone. Completely unacceptable and unprofessional. I lived here for two years and my experience was very up and down. The units are pretty affordable and are relatively cozy, but it's clear they are outdated and lived in. There's a small gym that is decently equipped, but too small to be very useful If other people are using it. The pool and hot tub is also nice, it seems like it is maintained. In unit amenities like washer/ dryer and AC are a plus. Most units (I think all units) also have a balcony and some units have private garages. However, some appliances are very old - everything in my apartment in the two years I was here had malfunctioned or needed replacement. The building is also relatively old, which might explain the multiple plumbing issues I had as well (leaking, clogging, overflowing, etc). The complex is relatively clean, they did some repainting while I was here which looks good. I think they did try to fix little things to make it a nicer complex, but it needs a lot of work. It would be nice if they could clean the stairwells and unit areas though, as those never got maintained and were pretty dirty. The proximity to Bart is a plus, but be aware of the neighborhood. If you aren't from here, you may not know that downtown Hayward can be dangerous. I would advise that Bart and the neighborhood itself shouldn't be ventured around at night for example. It's a gated community, but not that hard to get into. Theft has happened a few times that I've lived here. Gates had been broken multiple times, Whole sections of mailboxes broken into (twice), cars and garages (often). Security looked non existent. Neighbors around my area of the complex were quiet and kept to themselves, with the exception of one outlier who was incredibly disruptive and almost scary to run into. Units seem sound proof enough, I hardly ever heard my other neighbors. I think the way the buildings are constructed (outside units) are what helps that. However, be advised this complex is on a VERY busy street, and you will hear LOUD cars and bikes outside along with all other daily traffic every single day. Including the regular car crashes (the complex actually got crashed into once lol). I couldn't fall asleep with my windows open at night unless I wanted to be woken up by the loud noise of the traffic outside early in the morning. The thing that REALLY made this place unpleasant to live in, and MAJOR con which was a catalyst for this whole review is this; A few months after moving in, I received notice that the leasing staff would not be on the premises anymore (ever). I had never heard of that in any place I have lived. Even during COVID peak, no place I've lived NEVER had staff onsite. It was odd, but at first they still seemed relatively responsive when I called or messaged at the time. That changed though, good luck ever getting anyone from the office on the phone. It doesn't matter what time or day it is, you will get straight to voicemail every time. My last year living here, no matter how many times I called, I never got to speak to someone from the office. You are forced to communicate via email, which can take days. This is seriously frustrating for time sensitive issues. Not only that, but the staff had gotten increasingly unhelpful and unprofessional. They started implementing policies with short or no notice. They did a poor job communicating most things. The only person that was helpful towards the end that I actually was able to speak to was Theresa. Thankfully, the maintenance staff (Renato and Steven) was always prompt, friendly, and extremely helpful (and actually on site). They were the best part of the staff experience. Overall, if the units were more taken care of, if the staff was responsive, and if the neighborhood wasn't so loud and dangerous, I would say I enjoyed it here. The pros of this place were enough to keep me around as long as I was, but didn't end up being a long term living situation. I think I could have dealt with all the cons if not for the following; rising prices for existing renters. Fees were randomly added in weird clauses without much explanation, rising rent with no changes to unit to justify, and at some point they decided to grip onto your credit so if you are a single day late on rent, your credit will get dinged (which I've never heard of in any other place I've lived). Most times your credit doesn't get affected unless you are severely late or get eviction notice, so this was a bit bizarre to me. Even credit cards, car companies etc have grace periods better than this. Either way, I think you get what you get with Essex as a company as a whole. A lot of their other complexes in the Bay Area seem to have the same sentiments. All in all, not the worst place, but not the best. Do with this information what you will. read more

Angelic has told me that emails and photos have been sent, and nothing has been done about it. Do you not have maintenance to clean up around there? For the amount of rent she is paying or anyone else for that matter, this should not be happening, especially since she has informed you about it. I'm just going to say communication is lackluster at best. After 2 months of them looking for a reason to deny me, they found one lol. I am rebuilding my credit after being hospitalized, comatose and operated on for 2-1/2 years straight. Their "out" was I needed a guarantor that made 4 times the rent. The rent for a 1 bedroom is near $2500. I don't know anyone that's making this much, monthly (especially post pandemic) and I'm sure they don't either. I had pretty much decided that any place that was doing so much to say "no", wasn't any place I wanted to live but I let them tell me. It says they accept section 8 on their website but they had to "see if they could accept my subsidy". They needed check stubs and bank accounts. Wait. They don't need it now. Then they needed a co-signer. I'm not working right now because I inherited a couple hundred thousand. I drove my 2nd car (that survived a crash) to the viewing but have 3 and one is a 2024. I had to drive through oakland and well... beater it is. The fact that they seemed rude over the speaker phone while we were there for the viewing, the fact that the only time they responded was when the agency reached out and the fact that no one who isn't a physician or attorney is making nearly $10,000 a month is not only unacceptable and unprofessional but the truth is, they seemed very discriminatory from the beginning. 3 women of color, 1 driving a car with a dent and a subsidy only to find out the woman in question is an heiress to a small fortune and can pay her rent for the year in advance. I even offered to give them 4 times the rent as a deposit at one point but they didn't want it. I'm sure that your Boss is proud of the dynamic duo they hired to keep their property running smoothly. I'm an introvert that stays to herself and doesn't have company. Pay my rent early and am so quiet that you don't know I'm there except for the occasional delivery. My wife and I lived here 4.5 years from 2013-2017 and loved it so much it crushed us to leave. We came here with just the two of us and left with a family of five so it's an extra special community to us. Bottom line: My all-time favorite apartment community. Highly recommended for all types of renters. Staff: Five stars Betty and Janie are always a pleasure to see and do a great job of going out of their way to get to know the residents. They are always courteous and professional but are genuinely good, humble people too. They're able to help the community stay safe and abide by the rules while being nice. You can tell they are honest workers by their attention to detail for finances, safety, and packages. They're also really good at letting folks know ahead of time when there's going to be any changes, updates, or inspections. They really care about their residents and the community overall! Maintenance: Five stars Such a good crew here keeping the apartments clean and up to date. Renato and Chuy are respectful and trustworthy. They respond quickly to issues no matter how crazy things are. We once had a flooding issue and they went above and beyond to make sure the apartment was in better condition than before. They also understood our girls were ambitiously growing and were very reasonable with mishaps. Apartments: We lived in a 2-bedroom and it was perfect until our family kept expanding. It's a simple apartment and easy to keep clean. The garage was really helpful and it was also nice to have an extra parking spot. Yes the rent is competitive with the rest of the Bay Area but that's just a given nowadays; you either have to deal with it or move somewhere more remote. We dealt with it and were happy. Location: Five stars I grew up in this area and will always call it home, knew this location since it was a bowling alley in the 90s. Practically connected to BART so you can leave your apartment and be on the train within a few minutes. You can also walk to Lucky's, restaurants, the library, farmer's market, and Off the Grid. Safety: I consider the neighborhood safe. Usually the only way you run into trouble is if you mess with someone or hang around BART unnecessarily in which case that's your own fault. We would have stayed longer but were fortunate enough to finally purchase a home so at least we were able to leave for the right reason. I will miss this place, especially the staff. My boyfriend and I recently moved in to this complex, thanks to the recommendation from a friend of his who used to live here. Our apartment is perfect for us and our dog! We live on the first story, so we have a large sized patio to let our little guy outside. I also love the in unit washer and dryer. The location of the complex is also great! Very close to Bart, downtown, and Lucky Supermarket. The staff here is what brings this place up to its full potential though. When we were very new residents, I had parked my car in a first come, first serve parking spot and forgot to put the parking pass in my window. I woke up the next day to find that my car had been towed. My boyfriend spoke to a couple of staff members, explaining that the pass had slipped our minds due to the hectic nature of the move. The staff called the tow yard, and with their help we were able to retrieve our car at no cost! We are so appreciative of their help, and it was really a saving grace to have one less thing to stress about. We are very much looking forward to staying here for a while! read more

This is a nice complex so my comments have nothing to do re: quality and I have never been a tenant. I am posting to warn you about their bait and switch tactics. I found a promotion on Craigslist for a 2-bedroom at the low, low price of $1700. For more information, you have to call a centralized 866 number and provide all your personal info before you even get an answer. I asked if the unit had a garage and the employee said "yes". Is there a short term lease? The employee said "yes, 5 months" so I made an appointment to see the unit the next day. Do you think the unit had a garage? No! Did they have a short term lease? No! The excuse from Dennis is "oh, they're just a general service and they're always getting things wrong." No, I think that's called shady business practice. After realizing the nickle and diming for a pet ($35), application fee ($30), short term lease ($150/mth), we elected to rent a private condo around the corner for the same rate and more space with a 2-car garage. My wife and I lived here from Nov. '19 to Nov. '20. When moving in, we were attracted to the size of our one-bedroom apartment, the size of its patio (very spacious for most first-floor units), its central location downtown, the amenities (pool, hot tub and gym), and the fact that it's a gated community. In the mornings, my wife had the convenience of walking next door to the BART station to go to work across the bay. Four months in, COVID broke out, and life outside as we knew it came to a screeching halt. The amenities were soon closed to residents too. At the end of our lease, we decided to move northeast (to a different Essex property) to a safer area. City Centre pros: 1. The office staff is friendly and helpful. Janie is great. 2. The maintenance staff is friendly and helpful. Renato is great. 3. The buildings are on the newer side and well maintained. 4. The grounds are well maintained. 5. The apartments (based on our one-bedroom) are well insulated for weather and sound. We rarely ever heard our next-door neighbors. 6. The residents are generally quiet. 7. The complex is gated. 8. The location is conveniently located downtown. On Saturdays, there's a year-round farmers market there. 9. The amenities are nice despite being on the smaller side. 10. There is no smoking allowed--though residents seem to break this rule on occasion. City Centre cons: 1. The area has its share of vagrants and petty crime, thanks in part to the BART station next door. Our car was broken into on two separate occasions, though nothing valuable was taken. I realize that break-ins like this can occur anywhere, even in upscale neighborhoods. However, the lack of security is a con. They need security cameras at every point of entry, basically. Also, the border wall around the complex is too low in areas, particularly the border adjacent to the BART station. I've seen people climbing over the wall to gain entry. Residents have also complained about strangers driving through the gates when opened, though attempting to stop people seems like a risky proposition and I wouldn't recommend it. Residents have also complained about Amazon packages going missing. I once saw that our neighbors' packages had been ripped open when they left them outside overnight; after that, I made sure to alert them if I noticed their packages sitting out for a long time. 2. The fan over the stove isn't actually vented outside. So if you do a lot of cooking and create smoke, the fan only circulates it throughout the apartment, setting off the smoke alarms. 3. The garbage disposal doesn't do very much. Supposedly, it grinds food, but the apartment comes with plastic drain covers to basically prevent its use. If you try to grind anything, the drain only ends up clogging. 4. Oddly enough, the location is both a pro and a con. Thanks to the pandemic and the recession, it seemed to us as if the surrounding area has gotten worse. The number of vagrants seems to have increased. 5. Noise is a problem depending upon where your apartment is situated. If you're next to the BART track, then you're going to hear the BART trains obviously. Our apartment was located at the intersection of Grand St. and D St. Every day, a**holes gun their engines as they race down D St., which is in dire need of some speed bumps. We also heard sirens racing down D St. frequently. 6. For safety reasons, you're not allowed to have a full-sized grill on your patio. Yes, it's for safety, but it also kind of sucks if you're a BBQ master. You're allowed to have something smaller, like a camping stove. Despite the cons, I still think City Centre is a good apartment complex, and I think we would have enjoyed it more if not for the pandemic. It's worth taking a tour. read more

We are really satisfied with our apartment in this community. Unfortunately we have to move out in the middle of March. We have spent here almost 2 years and I have to say it has a very good price to value ratio. It's great localization, gated community, nice management and maintenance team. I think its the best place in Hayward. We are leaving the apartment, which I think is one of the best in the whole community. It has a balcony facing the pool and a tree, which gives you a nice view. It's very sunny, every morning you wake up you have the sun shinning, so even in winter you can use your heating only in the evenings. But in summer its not getting too hot, because of the angle of sunshine - so not too much air conditioning either. It's quiet and very nice 1-bedroom (and its the biggest 1-bedroom you can get out there, very spacious). Ask for 2nd floor Summit Court at leasing office!! :) read more

I have lived in city centre for more than a year and I must say the maintenance crew here are very fast to respond and fix the problem. We had a broken A/C during summer and without the A/C our room temperature can reach 81-83 degree, and it can cause productivity especially during the work from home season. We requested for A/C fix on the afternoon and the next morning Rene one of the Technician gave us a call letting us know that he will come buy soon. Which is nice gesture by giving us a heads up. When Rene came, he was very professional and polite. He looked at our A/C and give us his honest opinion about what might be the problem. After inspecting he concluded that one of the sensor might be broken, so he left and came back 15 minutes later with a replacement cable and fixed the A/C pretty much immediately after that. read more

Subwoofer noise too annoying, terrible soundproof. The person living above my unit regularly plays crazy rock music and movies. I am sure there are good fellows living in this complex but I am unfortunately the extremely unlucky one. Please double check with property manager whether there are recent noise complaints. Good news is that the maintenance team is very effective/responsive, location is convenient, close to bart, mcdonald, post offce and lucky, not too far from 880 and 580. If you are lucky enough to find a quite unit, then this should be a fair place, who knows. read more

Found a listing for a 2 bedroom, 2 bath for $1932 so my roommates and I went to go look at the place. Nice area, convenient for CSUEB students (which we are), and quiet. Dennis, the leasing specialist, seemed trust worthy and helpful in helping us lease our first place by dividing costs and explaining everything to us but then things turned around. There's no direct line for their office, the number they give you is the number for the company that owns this place, but not City Centre itself. Whenever you click to speak to the next associate, the call just continues looping in a circle. So we decided to email Dennis on Friday and of course, we understood he wouldn't get back to us after the weekend but even then - he still did not reply until days after and when he did reply, his reply was vague and not helpful. We weren't able to lease the unit for $1932 so Dennis told us there was another unit available for lease and to let him know immediately, which we did! Again, NO reply. We left a contact number and our emails, terrible management. Especially reading the other reviews, it's nice to know that we weren't the only ones who felt this way. My roommates and I found another community elsewhere where management is speedy in getting back to you (they actually contacted US first) and is reliable. For future references, we won't be recommending this place to anyone. read more

Worst apartment ever. Very expensive too. We had to deal with bed bugs for the first 2-3 months, oh it was a nightmare, as they didn't even care to shampoo the carpet before we moved in. It was very bad because we are the picky clean kinda people, don't move there, I don't care that it looks nice, it is the worst experience ever, a costly one too. My recommendation, if you must live there, don't ever get a carpet apartment in that complex, it doesn't matter how badly you need an apartment. The complex is nice and quiet but has the absolute worst management!!! If you call, no one answers the phone in the office. They open late and close early all the time. If you work past 5pm, forget about getting your packages and they are closed on Sunday and Monday. I moved in October 2009 and paid my rent on-time for the entire 12 month lease. For 9/12 months, I recieved an eviction notice on my door for failure to pay. Every time I went to the office to complain there was a new manager who was too busy to talk to me but was sooo sorry for the accounting error. I recieved discounted rent one time for the inconviniece and embarrassment. They said this happened to a lot of residents and they were working to correct it. HA!! After I moved out in October 2010 they sent me a bill for $4,000 in unpaid rent. I have had to fight this with BRE properties as the actual property managers were no help. Last week (5 months after moving out) I recieved a check for part of my deposit back and an apology email for the aacounting error. Needless to say the accounting is still off and I am still fighting. For that amount of rent, you deserve superior service. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!! Oh and they even raised my rent $300 + asked me to pay for my garage which they told me came with the unit if I wanted to renew my lease. HA!!!! read more

City Centre complex has been a godsend for us. We moved into the complex after our former complex was demolished by by fire. Sure the rent is pricey, but rents have gone up all over the bay area. We love the location, with Bart right outside of your back door, and shopping is within walking distance, this was a huge asset to me as a non-driving person. Whenever we have any problems, the office staff and the maintenance folks have been right there to assist us to make sure our needs are taken care of. This is a huge selling point as well, as a person who came from a place that did not keep up with the building maintenance, which in turn resulted in us to end up being homeless due to the fire. The neighbors and the community as well is filled with really nice hard working folks. Our lease was up in February of this year, but we decided to renew, yes our rent went up quite a bit, but we feel that it was worth it compared to what's out there to be rented in apartment land. I'm horribly shocked by all of the in my humble opinion City Centre is a good place to live. read more

From the moment we stepped foot inside the leasing office, everything here has been phenomenal. Jordan helped us during our first visit and was very nice and helpful. Filling the application was easy and painless. We met Jamie several days later, and she also has been very helpful and genuinely concerned about the upkeep of the premises and wants to ensure that all of the tenants are safe and happy. There were some issues during our move-in inspection, and Jordan made sure that everything was addressed promptly. One of our walls was painted blood red, and she had maintenance come in and repaint it the same day. Overall, it has been a great experience. Neighbors are friendlly and courteous. Since my last review some things have occurred, which are important to note. The rent was too much for us to keep up with, so we moved out at the end of February, 2015. I really loved the location of the apartment and the responsiveness of the entire management team. If I could afford the rent, I would have stayed. The complex is clean and the noise situation was being addressed. When ever I had a maintenance request, it was resolved very quickly. During the pre-moving process I became very ill and then during the actual move I injured my leg. The management Team at City Centre was very kind and worked with me to help make the move go smoothly. Jamie was extremely helpful and so positive during the entire move out process. Jordan and Jamie provided me updates, which helped relieve some of the anxiety I was having with the move. I would recommend this apartment complex and management team to others! read more

Best apartment complex I've ever lived at! Beautiful property, spacious apartments, pet friendly- worth every penny! Quiet, gated complex, close to Bart, but you never hear the trains running. Neighbors are friendly. Apartments stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter-ask for Minaret Way, its the best! The entire staff is prompt with anything you need. 11 Years I Resided at City Centre This is NOT a place you want to live as one of the reviews on this page state this place is a JOKE. You cannot have visitors there is NO place to park, if you have two cars there is NO place to park. Dennis and the manager Stan will not return your calls. I have been living in City Centre Apartments homes formally Pinnacle City Apartments since 2002 (11) years until August 31 2013. Management in the beginning was wonderful the past 8 years or more it has been horrible! I have experienced everything I have read in these reviews. Over the 11 years I have been living there I have not been late not one time on my rent. I paid nearly $300,000 in rent in 11 years and they refuse to return my $400.00 Security Deposit!...I am forced to go to Small Claims Court, for the $200 plus dollar they owe me. I have been calling the Office literally everyday since September 1, and even sent an email. After reading the reviews and getting no call back I assumed they would not be refunding my deposit. As one of the reviews on this page said, (you need witness when dealing with them because management at City Centre will lie)...I was told I did not return keys, I did!...I lost my keys before the current management was there, my locks were changed at a discounted price and they gave me only one key which was all I needed for each lock. They charged me $130 for cleaning, and my apartment was cleaner than it was when I moved in. I still have my work orders from 2002 when I had to call several times for maintenance to clean areas in my apartment when I first moved in. Even food on the handle of the blinds. It was not painted or cleaned before I took possession in 2002. My master bedroom was not even lived in, the closet was used as storage, rest room or tub never used and excise equipment in the middle of the floor. I never had visitors, NO WHERE for them to park, that was a joke! No wear and tear as far as foot traffic. The micro wave was not used in 11 years, (I don't eat out of micro waves) half the cabinets in the kitchen were not used in 11 yrs. The stove and refrigerator were cleaned, they were so old they should be thrown out anyway!. If they expect someone to pay $2123.00 rent I would hope 14 year old used appliances be replaced anyway. After 11 years I may have bought at least 3 new toilet seats. Okay $130.00 Cleaning Fee? (Really)? For what? I'm sure the Judge will love this one. I will be going to small claims court to receive my deposit. I did not pay my water because after reading these reviews I knew they would have still keep the entire $400. anyway, so far everything I have previously read in these reviews I have have Finally Experienced. I MUST ADMIT I AM A LITTLE SURPRISED ABOUT THE SECURITY DEPOSIT...But as one of the Reviews stated obviously its is all about "Getting Your Money" for the City Centre Apartments. You do not want to live in an apartment located on D St. side because you cannot open the window without the loud noise from cars, buses and trucks passing. I had to turn on the air even when it was not hot just to get ventilation, because the noise outside is like sleeping next to a freeway without a sound wall, you cannot sleep. When I first moved moved there my apartment was cheaper, because of the Noise Level outside, this management think the apartment should be higher because its a corner unit (Really)? Now that they allow pets you have watch your step in the walk ways, you may step in poop, or see tracks where someone else stepped. Flies are in the trees, and walk ways too due to dog poop. City Centre ATTEMPTED to INCREASE my rent $188.00. ($200.) You may as well say. From $1900.to $2088. for apartment that had not been painted or upgraded in 14 years. After painting and upgrading it was listed for $2085. $3.00 cheaper for the new tenant. Two weeks later it went to $2123.00 like one of the Reviews say its all about "Taking Your Money." Management only list the vacancies for a short period of time on the Apartment Website, then they are taken off and put on the Craigslist, making it appear that the apartments are renting fast, when they are actually still vacant. As one of the Reviews on this page state The townhouses next to Bart are nicer, more space, two car garage, parking and less money, this is True! These apartments are not worth the amount of rent they are charging, considering the Fact that Management have No Concern, Regard or Respect for the Tenants (Not Even an 11 Year Faithful Resident). Due to the false advertising and Scam Tactics they use to not return Security Deposits I will be making a report to Fair Housing and Better Business Bureau. Response to the paperwork issue, I have a copy that did in fact show a different amount and did bring in to the old management. My fault for not previewing everything they printed when signing my lease, I know for the next time. They have implemented a parking permit situation but its loosely followed, on numerous occasions their has been vehicles parked in the handicap space without the proper handicap placard. There is no guest parking or additional space if you have two cars per household. We have neighbors who park their garage cars to hog spaces and a neighbor who doesn't even use his assigned space. Do not move here if you want your family and friends to be able to visit you because there's no parking. read more

My fiancee and I have been looking for apartments, as we are getting married in September and wanted a great place to start our life journey together. We didn't bumped into City Centre by accident as I believe God has a plan. Before City Centre, we were almost ready to sign a lease contract with the Bridge (don't go there, they burn bridges with potential residents) and the experience didn't go well. I'm not going to get into details, you can view my Yelp review on their page, but it sure was stressful, como one man, I'm getting married, that should be the only stress I should have right now, finding a home should be an easy and pleasant experience, and I think my fiancee and I found the right community. This is where City Centre and Jordan (Assistant Property Manager) stepped in. While browsing the net I came across City View (sister community with City Centre), their staff was very helpful and gave me honest information. We were planning on visiting the location but they mentioned they didn't have air conditioning. I'm a big guy man, you can't stay sexy and sweaty, so we told City View that we weren't interested (by the way, some of their units have air conditioning, just the one available at the moment didn't). Then they recommended City Centre. (OK this is were City Centre and Jordan really stepped in). I went into their website and left my information to be contacted. Jordan emailed me the next day and told me about a 1b1b apartment that was available. I made an appointment to go see the apartment a week later (my fiancee was away for two weeks, and you know WOMEN, I couldn't make that decision on my own), but then I realized I couldn't wait that long, I had to go right away. I asked my fiancee for permission to go see the place alone, and surprisingly she said YES, "make sure the kitchen is right." What does that even means? Does it mean to make sure the stove is working? Anyways, I then put it together and understood she meant she wants a kitchen with big space and lots of counter space. I contacted Jordan via email asking her to call me and BOOM, my phone was ringing in less than a minute. Jordan then changed my appointment from a week away to 1 hour away (take notes DMV). I arrived at City Centre and Jordan was very welcoming, professional, and knowledgeable about what City Centre had to offer. We went to see the apartment and she allowed me to take pictures (yes, I had to come back to my fiancee with a full report, certified by a public notary). I took the pictures (1 of the room, 1 of the living room, 1 of the balcony and 57 of the kitchen), left with all the information and went home. I talked it over with my fiancee and her and I agreed to apply (yes, she trusted my judgement on the kitchen after reviewing all 57 kitchen photos). We applied that same day. Their application process was so easy. At The Bridge, they were penalizing ($2000 plus) because my fiancee has lived with her Dad her whole life. So basically since she didn't have a non-family landlord, our deposit was going to be 1 month worth of rent. Man, I thought we wanted to encourage our kids not to fully move out until marriage. Sorry, I know I broke my promise to not talk about my experience with the Bridge in detail. Anyways, back to the good part, after applying Jordan called us the next day and also sent us the move-in-instructions. Normal requirements, nothing out of this world. Thank you! We provided all the requirements and now we are ready to move in into our place. So understand that my rating is based on the service and application experience so far, my living experience will be updated later. But seriously, I cannot thank Jordan and City Centre enough for all their help. Moving can be very stressful specially while planning a wedding and they made that part of the process so easy for us. I think my fiancee owes your staff cupcakes (she is vegan so they are dairy free, easy on the stomach), after all, you guys gave her the spacious kitchen she was asking for. read more

I love my spacious apartment. I love the layout. I love the architecture of the entire community. It is quiet. Its dog friendly place. I love the staff and their efficiency with all my needs no matter how futile they seem to me, They exhibit a sense of urgency that is awesome compared to other places I have been in the last 2 years. So, my husband and I and our 2 kids and dog entered a 4 month lease here because we sold our house and were on the hunt for another house! We found a house a month into our lease! The staff here is amazing! Betty and Janie are absolutely the most responsive people I have ever dealt with. I had never lived in an apartment prior to this and if I had to live anywhere this is the place I would choose! Plus with two kids the washer and dryer was amazing!! I just loved living here. I felt safe here with my two toddlers. And they loved climbing up and down the stairs and playing in the small playground made for kids that was literally right near our apartment. We didn't meet many neighbors as everybody keeps to themselves but it was just a quiet and nice place! I cannot day enough good things about this place!! My kids adjusted to this apartment super quick which I was concerned about! It was just a great place to live! read more

Jamie and Jordan were fantastic as managers of this property! I have lived in other places before and I can tell the promptness of the maintenance team under Jamie and Jordan is unheard of. I strongly recommend this property to anyone planning to move to Hayward. Especially, the BART being literally next door, its a huge convenience. Our apartment was right across the leasing office and I can tell that we had absolutely no noise issues due to BART. People in the community are very nice. The only issue we had was someone around our apartment would play loud thumping music too early in the morning on weekends. But Jamie and Jordan took care of that very professionally and very quickly. read more
