Toured here as I was told it was their sister property and rents were a little more affordable. It's about a mile away from my current complex and the rates are cheaper, had stainless steel appliances and very similar to my current place. I would've definitely considered it as it was $250 cheaper but not sure if it's worth the hassle of moving. Will consider it at the end of my current lease or may just renew and my current complex. read more

Don't be fooled by the photos, and lower rent price compared to other apartment complex in the area. Equity Residential the corporation running Parkside doesn't care about creating communities where people thrive, as their motto claims. They are just another greedy corporation that only cares about squeezing every last cent from every resident, and not adding any value to the community. read more

Terrible service. I made an appointment to see a unit for rent. They offered a self guided tour. I arrived 15 minutes early and couldn't get a hold of anyone. I arrived at the unit and sent a text and email for the code to enter the unit. Never got a response on how to enter the unit. Also, everyday they raise the price of the rent. Would give this place ZERO stars! Not 1! This review has been a long time coming. They changed some spaces to hardwood floors but without good insulation so you can hear neighbors clearly from upstairs and the ones above us would throw parties and be so loud in the middle of the night we called and complained many times on them nothing was resolved it didn't matter to them they continued to be loud every night so that became the last red flag among the bigger issues I will get into in the rest of this review. We moved in here not realizing the apartment was infested with bedbugs. The whole place is disgusting. In the beginning noticed how itchy I'd get but would shrug it away. Later on we realized how bad it got we actually got bad deep bites. Wish we seen another lady's review of this place score we moved in. The lady's review showed images of her daughters arms of bites from bedbugs I don't see it anymore I wanted to repost for proof to but management probably took it down I don't see it anywhere. We threw away all our furniture when we moved it was gross so beware this place is infested. Laundry Units aren't sanitary we would rather go to a near by laundromat. The washers would smell so musky and dirty. And of course some machines would be out of order and mind you there's only 6 of each washer and dryers barely enough for the whole apartment complex. I love dogs but their owners can be horrible not picking up after them when walking them definitely not the dogs fault. There been break ins on both apartments and cars so being a gated apartment complex doesn't help it. Parking is horrible some tenants will have guests park on the into open spots or ppl who try to use Bart steal parking spaces since Bart is right there. But I think all apartment complexes have parking issues as well. It's next to a school so you get students knocking on your doors for scholarship stuff I'm not mad at their hustle but it can be annoying. I'm surprised with the 5 star reviews but I noticed most the 5 star reviews are just for being "TOURED" around the complex not lived so keep that in mind ppl. read more

This apartment complex has a serious cockroach problem. Walking from my apartment to the parking lot, I would see at least 10 roaches. I even saw one climb up my neighbor's leg one time while he was standing talking to someone. On next door, multiple people have posted pictures of cockroaches infiltrating their living spaces. This location is near a bart station and sometimes, homeless people get off at the station, walk over to parkside, and vandalize/break in to the cars. Not the property management company's fault, but still not pleasant. When you're moving out, they charge hundreds of dollars for a "cleaning fee" for standard wear and tear. They charge for things like paint and door, but when you move in, they don't give you a new place with new paint and doors. The cleaning fee is a scam. If you're moving out, don't bother to vacuum or clean, as they will charge you regardless. This complex takes advantage of people who don't have good credit, primarily new immigrants and lower income people/families. The rent is much higher than the market value, and they rip you off once you sign a lease. After a few months, they started charging $100/month just for trash alone, and trash pickup only happens once a week. For a complex of this size, trash pickup needs to be done 2-3 times a week. The trash is always piled up and attracts roaches, but they'll still charge $100/unit for it. The exorbitant base rent also doesn't include ANY utilities. You're on the hook for everything: water, gas, water heating, electric, internet, landscaping, and miscellaneous expenses. They charge you for anything and everything they can think of. The property managers are also awful. In one year, the complex had 3 different property managers, none of whom could help with various issues in a timely manner. My unit had a persistent mold/mildew problem in the bathroom. When I first informed the leasing office, they did nothing for 2 months until I followed up again, then they had someone come out and look at it. They claimed it wasn't mold, but everyone knows what mildew smells like. I eventually had to resort to keeping the ventilation fan running 24/7 because they refused to help again after telling me it wasn't mildew. For other issues, one staff at the leasing office would have an answer, then upon following up with a different person, they would have a contradictory answer. The leasing office hires unqualified people who have likely never working in any property management capacity. read more

Final update: I moved out but here is some more on my experience. I did not reach out to Jennifer and I will tell you why, I have written to resident relations on the site multiple times and am still waiting for a response. Note that it tells you that you are supposed to get a response within 24 hours. I have also called Equity a couple of times and like the office, they are never in and don't respond. The last note I would like to mention is that after moving out I asked for vendor receipts and hours for the work that was done. I called and wrote emails and yet I was not given that information. Lucky for them after talking to a lawyer, it wasn't really worth the time to sue in small claims court as once you request it they have 14 days to provide it. This is part of California law. I will say this again DO NOT RENT FROM THESE CROOKS. read more

I moved out over a year ago and still have not yet received my deposit. There were four of us who cleaned the apartment and appliances and still no check. We took many pictures before we left. Had roach problems while I lived there and it took a few months for them to consistently treat for bugs. Had to buy and create a way to get rid of them myself. Garbage dumpsters are always overflowing and trash on the ground. Advertise as gated community but gates are always left open. Noisy majority of the time after hours, laundry room was always dirty, staff unavailable, homeless sleeping on property, dog poop not picked up by residents. Can go on and on how bad this place got for the price they charge. Think twice before you rent here. read more

I've decided to put it back up to tell my truth.** I recently inquired about looking at apartments here. I know someone who lives here so I wanted to check out the available apartments.  The staff were SO rude, ESPECIALLY CYRILLE & SALLY. I couldn't handle her rudeness so I ended up walking out of the tour before it ended. The apartments I looked at were all warn down, I don't think that they're worth the HIGH rent prices that they charge, even for Bay Area's standards ($2200+). The pool was dirty as well, which I was looking forward to looking at as I've always wanted to live close to a pool. The gym was dirty too. I will NOT be ever considering getting an apartment here, and sadly I will have to visit once in a while to see a few of my friends. Despite being the duke (I visit my friends quite a bit), I really don't recommend anyone living here. AVOID PARKSIDE APARTMENTS AT ALL 1 star (I would give 0 stars if that was an option) read more

This place is awful. I got stuck here for three years during the pandemic. Constant management turnover, the office was rarely open, and trash was constantly overflowing even though they were charging me 99.50 a month for just garbage. I'm a bachelor living in a studio. There were constant issues with the unit. Bugs, electrical, the tub was peeling paint. I would send tons of emails and requests but constantly got ignored. Years of this. Over 80,000 dollars. In Dec of last year, I had some fraud issues on my bank account, and it took a little time to get it all worked out. I emailed them explaining the problem and that I would be current before Feb. No reply. I went by the office, closed. At the end of January, I walked into the office with a cashiers check in the full amount to bring me current to find out they had already started paperwork for eviction. After 80,000. 2300 a month for 400 square feet, after all their fees and charges and 'convenience fees'. Don't even get me started on the 'equity' part. That is a flat- out lie, I sent over 20 inquiry emails and heard nothing back. I'm not the only one with this experience. Just check the message board. This is honestly the WORST experience in an apartment I have ever had, and I've been an apartment guy for over 40 years. Do yourself a favor: GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE. read more

I have lived in this community for nearly two years, and all I have encountered were positive experiences. From management to maintenance, the staff is friendly, polite, and professional. David, the manager, has always been very prompt in responding and was always very efficient. Andrew is always polite and knowledgeable. My maintenance needs are completed within a reasonable time, and Sam has always been courteous, knowledgeable, and expedient. The community is kept clean, curbs are always freshly painted, and there was a lot of improvement done for the parking spots, which is fantastic. The pool and the gym are pretty lovely. read more

Worst apartment complex !!! DO NOT MOVE IN !! This by far has been the worst experience I have ever had living in a unit! They are so unprofessional, so unorganized, so ignorant and still have the audacity to over charge on everything and top it off always have an attitude. The girl in the leasing office never has answers for me when I show up and request something, what's the point of having her there if you don't know anything?? I gave up, cleared out my unit mid March, did a deep clean in the unit so it can be fair and I can receive my deposit back, we are now in April and I'm still being charged rent as if I live there. I gave in my 90 day notice of moving out in January and they want to tell me they never received anything. I clearly gave my notice to the girl who is in the leasing office but she wants to say she never received it. I called today asking why am I being charged for this months rent when I cleared out the unit before my 90 days and returned my keys but as ALWAYS SHE DOESN'T KNOW AND WILL HAVE TO CALL HER MANAGER. Anyone wanting to move in be prepare for all the head aches that come living in this place. Cars get broken into , cars get shot with beebee guns, mail gets stolen, there's crack heads wandering the complex and a whole bunch of roaches and mold in units AND GATES ARE ALWAYS BROKE! So much for a gated community when the gates are broken every other week! And to top it off the leasing office girl never know a darn thing! She's only there to make it seem like the place is being taken care of but she doesn't follow up on anything, and her memory is by far the worst. My sister and my boyfriend toured this property on Saturday 11/14. The first apartment we toured had dead (I think) roaches in the kitchen. We didn't tour the next unit after that, since roaches are an immediate deal breaker for me. The manager was really nice though; she seemed genuinely surprised when we told her what we saw. I have been living at Parkside for 14 months now and I just signed a lease for another 12 months. This is a great place to live and I have had no complaints so far. The Community: The community is a nice place to live. This is a gated community and it is safe. There is a great mixture of ethinicity. There are assigned parking spaces which is really great so that you dont have struggle for parking everyday. The community also has a swimming pool which is maintained very well by real estate company. There is a gym which is well equipped and its open whenever you want to. There is a card operated laundry system and there are plenty of laundry rooms. You get your own mailbox and also any packages you order, are delivered safely to the leasing office which you can pick it up later if you are not at home. This is smoke-free community and it is pet friendly. The Apartment: The apartment we rented is quite spacious with plenty of closets and storage space. The kitchen is also well equipped with a refridgerator, microwave, oven and a dishwasher. There have been no problems at all living here. The Surroundings: Parkside Apartments is located near to pretty much everything you need. Restaurants, Fast-food, groceries, banks, health/dental clinics and BART everything is at a 5-10 min walking distance. The Leasing Company: Equity residential is one of the best leasing companies I have come across. Right from the time we started looking for apartments, they were extremely helpful. The people working in the leasing office are also really good. Sally, Dan and Dina are super nice people to work with and they are very helpful. They have assisted us immediately whenever we needed it. In my previous experience at other places I never came across such nice people. Summary: In short this is the best place to live for individuals and families and I would definitely recommend it. read more

I have lived here for 2 months and I am either breaking my lease or leaving as soon as my lease expires. This place should not run under the label "Equity", no way. I have lived in Equity Properties before and this place does not live up to what it represents itself to be. My mistake I should have moved in to Skylark instead, but this property is directly accross the street to Bart. Proximity to Bart was important. So one star for being close to Bart and another one for Matt the maintenance guy, the only person in that property that listens and takes care of things asap. In the first two months of living here this is what I have experienced. -Car port is far, far far away from my unit. -Trash situation is beyond disgusting! Yet, I pay $67.00/mth for garbage! And that is just garbage. You also pay water, boiler, sewer....This is for a 1 bedroom. It is about 150.00 extra a month on top of rent. -People will park in your carport, I have come home late only to find someone parked in my spot. -Hot water often does not work, it comes and goes. -Water has been shut off for repairs and maintenance has not alerted nor given notice. -Property is NOT a gated community, the gates are open all day long. Teenagers from Longan come in and use the pool. Unsafe, dangerous and negligent. -The property is not maintained, it is dirty. Garbage in common areas, overgrown plants, trees and dead grass. -The gym is a pathetic excuse. Some of the equipment is broke and the weights are mismatched. 2 Decent treadmills and an elyptical . -The pool, super dirty, the pool chairs and lawn chairs are broken and in bad shape. They need to be replace, God knows how long it they have been there. -A few weekends ago AT&T set up a tarp with loud music and they were stopping residents to sell them service. Never seen this before in my life. Very ghetto! -The leasing agents could care less about your needs, treat you like you are an idiot and discredit any complaint you may have. -And to end, many tenants wrote about roaches and I inquired prior to moving, they said it was the tenants who were dirtly and did not throw out their garbage, well guess what? I have roaches and I am not dirty and my trash is thrown out daily. read more

I lived here for a year with my fiancée and our two dogs from 2015-2016, and we really liked it. The apartment itself was small, and the kitchen was tight. Yes, we did find roaches in the kitchen area pretty often. We really loved the staff here, the community feel, and the grounds. It was a lovely place to walk our dogs, interact with neighbors, and swim. We never had any major concerns while here. The laundry machines were often busy or busted, so it wasn't very consistent, but we were not put off by the little things. Probably wouldn't choose to live here again knowing how small the units are and how much they cost, but it was a good experience as young renters. We lived on the 2nd floor in a building facing the shopping center next door, but it wasn't ever an issue in terms of noise, safety, or disruptions. read more

Cyrille runs a well-oiled machine at Parkside. The community is extremely clean (and includes poop bag dispensers for the pet owners). It's a very peaceful and quiet complex. Whenever there has been noisy neighbors, they've been quick to address the complaints. They also have a security patrol that polices the community and makes us feel safe. It's not uncommon to see couples doing nightly walks at midnight. The customer service is unmatched. Any time that we've issued service requests, they've been handled and completed within a day. Apartment and community are good here, but if you have multiple cars it is a nightmare. It's first come first serve parking on open roof parking. I get off work at 10:30pm so I would arrive at the apartments at 10:45pm and it would take me roughly around 30-60mins just to find parking EVERYDAY!!! There is street parking but you need a permit which is nonsense. If I'm paying a good amount for rent street parking should be free. read more

While looking for apartments in the area about two years ago, I came across this apartment complex. I wasn't in love with the property and it definitely could've used some refurbishments. Fast forward to about a month ago, I toured the apartments again and the property has a had a total makeover. The parking lot has been resurfaced, security cameras have been installed in the mail room, and all the buildings and laundry room have been repainted. Overall the look of the apartment is way better and management has definitely done a great job making the apartments more favorable to eye! read more

Won't recommend it even to my enemy. Very frustrating experience!!! Once you sign the lease contract, the apt company forgets humanity and goes only by the book. My roommate screwed the situation, and after knowing that I have nothing to do with the whole issue, they are coming after me. It is okay if you are on eviction, and they may not inform you of eviction, but they will come after you if it is about money. They have held me in a lot of stress in this painful pandemic for an extended time when they are in the position of being able to take appropriate human action on it. read more

I love living here. The community is quiet, the neighbors are kind, and the woman in the office is a total sweetheart who genuinely tries to make everyone happy. Any time there is construction or anything happening there is an email to let us know, something I cant say about other complexes. The community is taken care of, safe, and in a fantastic location with a park, shopping center, and BART station all nearby. I couldn't reccomend it enough. read more
