This is a review for the adult classes. SAFETY. Safety is my top concern with any martial arts. It's a hobby but I still have other adult responsibilities I need to attend to and I cant be injured for them. It's clearly Legacy's priority too--techniques are taught with control, and training partners are respectful and mindful, making it an ideal place to train and minimize risk of injury. The mats are thoroughly disinfected after each class. WELCOMING. The instructors are not only highly skilled but also genuinely invested in every student's progress. The culture is supportive and welcoming, with no egos on the mats. AVAILABILITY. They have tons of availability, mornings, lunch, evenings. You can see their schedule on their website. You can also train at their other gyms in Burbank or Pasadena giving you more flexibility. Also they allow you to roll/spar day 1 if you feel comfortable with it. Legacy Glendale isn't just a jiu jitsu gym it's family. When my son started 5 months ago, I thought it was going to be very short lived and never thought my son would stay in any martial arts classes. He tried boxing and karate and after a few sessions, he immediately checked out. When we came to Legacy, Professor Anthony and coach Josh immediately embraced each child who walked through the doors. Not only to teach him Jiu Jitsu but how to be a better person. Of course, they taught him how to kick ass! No question about it. He won his first gold medal at Dream BJJ competition after three months of lessons. He then lost his first tournament at World League BJJ. Obviously, the expectations were high after winning a gold medal. However, my son being the sore loser that he is like his dad, learned his first lesson on how to take a loss. As high as the coaches were on him winning his gold, they were always behind him after losing his second tournament. They never wavered, were always positive and taught him how to come back stronger, confident and be better. They taught him how to support his teammates. Be happy when they won or lost and to keep pushing each other. They said, you're going to win more from losing a match than when you win. I know, I know it sounds corny. But not only does did he come back and win a silver medal at Dream BJJ following his loss at Worlds and he did it in dominating fashion. Yes he could have won gold but he keeps improving, learning and fighting. He's as happy for his teammates wins as his own. He's taught me that losing isn't so bad as long as you come back better and give it your all. He has been more respectful and says thank you (which was like pulling teeth before pun intended as I am a dentist haha!)! He's been going 5-6x/week and hasn't looked back! It has been a great experience overall. Our daughter Xandy has been coming to Legacy Glendale since July of 2023. She has improved a lot since then and 6 stripes later. I love training jiujitsu since I found this martial arts 1 years ago. I was training in Westwood area for 6 months at first before I signed up here. And since I have to move my place, I also have to move my gym and found this gym from online. At first, I thought this was just like any other gym but I was wrong. They made her feel welcome and important, which helped her overcome her shyness and end up really enjoying the class. The registration process was easy and quick - I entered basic information on their website and then someone from the office followed up with a friendly and very helpful call. They also provided uniform to use for the trial class and answered all my questions. Due to conflict with another activity, Saturday mornings are tough for us, but luckily Burbank location has more options, including Sunday morning classes. I've been bringing my 6y son here for about 4 months and I do believe this is a great clean program with caring people. My son has progressed, learned discipline and really enjoys class. Anthony, Santino, Vitor and the other instructors have been patient and kind with all the students I've seen. First half of class is more exercise and learning movement while the second half is techniques. My 5 year old son has been attending Legacy Glendale since October 2022. He started the BJJ journey at age 3.5 and in the last 1.5 years of training, he has had so much personal growth. His confidence has gone up along with learning how to be a great team mate. I honestly can't say enough great things about the kids program but I can start by mentioning all the improvements and organization in training that Professor Anthony has done since taking over. One of the few, if not the only kids program to provide classes 6 days a week with a minimum of 4-5 coaches a class. The coaches have become mentors, friends and we care for them like family. My son has made lifelong friends with his fellow classmates as have we with other parents. Although an individual sport, it truly feels like a team here at Legacy Glendale. Professor Anthony, Professor Vitor and all the coaches have a positive attitude and make the kids feel comfortable and welcome which is a huge plus for any new student who is shy or nervous about starting something new. They also have a great anti-bully program a new student has to go through where they train on how to properly defend yourself against bullies. My 5 year old son trains 1-2 hours a day at Legacy and is absolutely obsessed with going to class. The biggest reason for his love of jiu jitsu is the amazing coaches behind this program who made him fall in love with BJJ but also for the bond he created with them. I enrolled my three kids here after trying the class. They are so attentive and teach an amazing kids class. My elder children then also tried the adults fundamentals and also had a great session and have been going to both ever since. I've since joined in on the fun and find the school to be so rewarding and amazing. We love Legacy Glendale! There are usually 5-6 coaches per lesson and are extremely attentive.

All the coaches here are so amazing and especially kind to the little kids. The coaches use fun names like "sticky hands" that seem to work well with kids. They are teaching essential self defense skills and also incorporate strength training and cardio in the warm ups. If you sign up on IG, there is a free trial class. For your first class, I'd go early to make sure you have time to borrow a gi and find parking. Bring extra water. My little one always drinks her whole water bottle. The difficult part is finding parking because you can get tickets for illegal parking. read more
