My son has been coming here for the past 5 months and he has shown so much improvement because the coaches are so good with all of the kids. 10 out of 10 would highly recommended anyone to come here or bring their kids to the classes.

I'm so glad I found legacy. I was visiting from Las Vegas and needed a 6 am. I tried another gym and was turned away. I kept searching and came across this one. I want to thank Josh and his 6 am squad for opening their doors to me, it felt like home. 10/10 recommend I will def be back.

Legacy Jiujitsu (Glendale, Ca.) is a great academy to train at. Both of the 2 times I've visited the academy (five wks. apart) were pleasant experences. Coach Will (Brn. Belt) was very welcoming, taught a detailed intermediate level-class, and encouraged a re-visit to train again. During my 2nd visit, Professor Anthony Cruz (Blk. Belt/Owner), was equally sincerely welcoming, and also taught an exceptional intermediate-level class. I am a newly promoted Brn. Belt, and have trained BJJ for approx. 10 yrs. under a couple world-class Professors, and have visited numerous academies. Legacy Jijjitsu (Glendale) exhibits commonalities featured in such academies. Classes are structured with proper mat etiquette, displaying respect for the art, students, and Professor(s)/Coach(es). Pride is displayed in the appearance and cleanliness of the facility. But most importantly to me, the culture/vibe is friendly and encouraging. This environment is vital to fostering learning and growth. I recommend this academy to anyone looking for a great place to learn and train jiujitsu. I mean this personally, as my young adult son began his journey here approx. 2 month ago, and from my two visits here, he seems to enjoy himself and is already thriving under this academy's guidance

Legacy Glendale isn't just a jiu jitsu gym it's family. When my son started 5 months ago, I thought it was going to be very short lived and never thought my son would stay in any martial arts classes. He tried boxing and karate and after a few sessions, he immediately checked out. When we came to Legacy, Professor Anthony and coach Josh immediately embraced each child who walked through the doors. Not only to teach him Jiu Jitsu but how to be a better person. Of course, they taught him how to kick ass! No question about it. He won his first gold medal at Dream BJJ competition after three months of lessons. He then lost his first tournament at World League BJJ. Obviously, the expectations were high after winning a gold medal. However, my son being the sore loser that he is like his dad, learned his first lesson on how to take a loss. As high as the coaches were on him winning his gold, they were always behind him after losing his second tournament. They never wavered, were always positive and taught him how to come back stronger, confident and be better. They taught him how to support his teammates. Be happy when they won or lost and to keep pushing each other. They said, you're going to win more from losing a match than when you win. I know, I know it sounds corny. But not only does did he come back and win a silver medal at Dream BJJ following his loss at Worlds and he did it in dominating fashion. Yes he could have won gold but he keeps improving, learning and fighting. He's as happy for his teammates wins as his own. He's taught me that losing isn't so bad as long as you come back better and give it your all. He has been more respectful and says thank you (which was like pulling teeth before pun intended as I am a dentist haha!)! He's been going 5-6x/week and hasn't looked back! Santino is an amazing coach and always makes the kids (and me) laugh and coach Jessica is a rockstar and is amazing with all the kids. Professor Vitor, Coach Emily and Irene rock too and no one here will let you down! -Dr. Foodie

I love training jiujitsu since I found this martial arts 1 years ago. I was training in Westwood area for 6 months at first before I signed up here. And since I have to move my place, I also have to move my gym and found this gym from online. At first, I thought this was just like any other gym but I was wrong. I have been training here for six months and i have been improved a lot. I feel like this place have been my home since I moved alone here from third world country. They cared about you and always want you to be better in every single perspective either it is personally or with jiujitsu and they treat you like your family. In the end, I am really glad and happy that I found this gym. One of the best decisions in my life that I ever did.

Legacy Glendale is an awesome place to learn BJJ. A great environment for beginners and competitors alike, I started 1.5 years ago and after six months of training I won my first gold medal at a local tournament. The instruction here is top notch. Everyone knows your name and treats you with respect, welcoming you with open arms. Instructors give you individual attention and track your progress week by week so you always know where you're at on your journey. Overall, a great place to train and have a good time!

It has been a great experience overall. Our daughter Xandy has been coming to Legacy Glendale since July of 2023. She has improved a lot since then and 6 stripes later. Recently, she even joined their in-house tournament of all the Legacy gyms and won silver. Thanks to all her coaches who's always supportive most speacially Professor Anthony. If you want a gym for your kids to enjoy and boost their physical health and confidence then this is the place to go. Congratulations to all coaches for a job well done. To more tournament and competition in the future!

It got to be too many kids and not enough instructors or adequate supervision for their summer program. My kids got to a point where they dreaded going to class, which is when I knew it was time to stop going. We took them to several other Gracie Barra locations but they didn't enjoy the instructors so I thought we were done with Jiu Jitsu until we found Total Jui Jitsu. To our surprise, we found that a lot of the coaches and families also left Gracie Barra in Burbank for the same reasons and so my boys knew a lot of the kids in the class. Great kids and wonderful families. The Total Jui Jitsu coaches aren't yellers, which creates a really chill environment and there is serious focus on good form, respect, and execution. All the things I expect and they over-deliver in each and every class. They won't allow kids to get distracted and ensure they are truly learning the techniques the right way. If they see a child performing the moves incorrectly, they immediately step in to coach and correct so the kids don't injure themselves or others. The kids really respond to the coaches' positive and encouraging approach and I can definitely see it in my boys faces after class; they beam with pride. I am so thrilled that they were able to rekindle the love of Jui Jitsu. I highly recommend this Jui Jitsu studio for any family looking to have their children participate in a fun sport, learn self-defense, build confidence with supportive instructors, and have a lot of fun while doing it.

The facilities were super nice, the mats were clean and in great shape (despite the street construction which necessitated the front of the building be boarded up, so you may need to enter through the back). And it was nice to have showers to clean up before my 4 hour drive back home. Bonus for great location with lots of good post-training food options to get protein and carbs! Before my wife and I ever got pregnant, we always knew our little one would be in bjj. Fast forward to present day, our little girl is now 4yo, and we found our home gym here. Right away we immediately connected with Raf and Mickey. They are the sweetest people. And they made our little girl and us feel safe and right at home. We feel so comfortable here and can't help but it feel that our family circle just got bigger. For myself, I have been in and out of bjj for the last 15 years and really haven't stepped on the mat for the last 6-7 years. My wife was actually the one that found this wonderful place from a Facebook post and after reaching out and meeting R&M, we knew that it was only right this is where I was going to pick up where I left off and step back into my jiu jitsu journey. 15 years ago, I started in a gi, went into more no-gi, and now come full circle back into the gi and tradition. The dojo itself is beautiful and all the adult students we've met are also so welcoming. Mickey's taste def shows in the overall aesthetics and is on point holding things behind the scenes and planning all the fun events. Raf's teachings are very clear, concise and have real depth which you definitely can see comes from a place of passion and long love and history with the art. It is an honor to be a student under him. The other kids in the younger classes are all so good with our baby girl. After her first class, she couldn't stop talking about all her new "friends." The modest size of the dojo and number of students encourages a more intimate learning enviroment and greater level of intimacy and respect. There is no ego here. Everyone and the overall energy here is so wholesome and feels more about cultivating the art, tradition well as a community. Needless to say, we are so happy to have found family in Ukiyo Academy. OSS! p.s. we love this place!
