While I'll refrain from doing a direct comparison I will say what you get with The Market at Preston (or any of their other locations I suspect) is amazing fried chicken worth the trip to the pump. I ordered ahead and got a 4 piece meal, perhaps 4 pieces were too many because I ended up saving some of it for lunch the next day, however it only meant I got two chances to enjoy the crispy, but not super battered, chicken not just once but twice. I was really impressed with the Mac and Cheese. Not many places do the side well, often it's goopy school cafeteria fare but their Mac and Cheese was rich and creamy. The Potato Wedges were spiced very nicely, perhaps better than KFC. What else can I say? If you are driving through C'ville perhaps make your next pit stop at The Market.

If you arrived late or near closing time, I suggest you come around lunch time. Yes, people have told me they don't like Brown's because they don't eat meat. Great. 3. People disgusted with its location. Yes, it's in a gas station. That is part of this location's appeal; it's a genuine hole in the wall. The food tastes great and they wouldn't be allowed to operate if they were dirty, which, in my opinion, they aren't. 4. People irritated at how a manager is speaking to a customer. I get it, this can irritate me, too. But 1 star? Get out of town. This market was listed on the company website, and so I went by to check them out. I'm so happy to say that now they order rebel cheese for me periodically, and I am so glad to have a small local business to support in the process!
