They had absolutely no idea how to correctly install pavers, couldn't even plant a tree straight and just left the project looking unfinished. Sad thing is I did my research but apparently not enough. Knowing better, should have stopped them and fired them... however, we thought it might get better. We spent a good amount of money on this project only to have to tear everything out and redo the pavers. The company that really came to the rescue was Aguiar Pavers. Based out of WA. state but branching into Idaho. My first call to their office was handled nicely and we did have to wait 2 weeks for our appt. Wesley came to the house, gave me some ideas on how to fix or redo the mess currently in place and after some thought, we decided to move forward. (We had also interviewed 6 other contractors in the area before deciding on Aguiar). They were actually able to start within a few days....amazing work ethic, he has a team of 7 and they had my patio and walkway completed in a week. It looks so good and I am just in awe. I am only sorry I didn't find them in the beginning. So, long story short, if you are looking for someone who knows what they are doing, don't hesitate to call them. I only say all this as a PSA to save someone time, money and frustration. Wesley @ Aguiar Pavers 208-577-1753/ 425-678-0147

We contacted them all and Chuck Edwards was the only one who had responded quickly to our initial inquiry. Even after meeting with each business, again, Chuck was the only one who followed through w/ an email a few weeks later to see if we needed anything else. All of this impressed us a great deal and we liked his portfolio as well so that is how we chose Chuck. We actually sold the first house we were living in when we started the search and built another before we came up with a final landscaping plan. Chuck was very accommodating to help us with the new yard/pavement/driveway choices which made changes to our "unfinished" plans along the way. We told him up front that we wanted his honest opinions both pro and cons to our ideas and we felt that he was able to do that very well. He asked good questions to see if what we thought we wanted fit how we lived. He came up with 2 designs initially and we put them together to come up with a plan that looked great on paper. The best was yet to come. He recommended several different installers and we had them each bid on the job. We went back and forth with having one company do both the hardscape/pavers and the landscaping or have one company do the hardscape/pavers and another one do the landscaping. He was very patient w/ the several emails and phone calls we made throughout this decision process as well. He told us that there are always issues and to make sure to connect with the person, so when problems arise it will make it easier. Great advice ~ there were some issues and that "connection" helped. We are doing the install in phases because we want to cash flow this project. He helped us with making those choices as well. So far we have all the hardscape patio, boulders, lawn, curbing, rock mulch, and many plants installed and we are thrilled. We love it. Next phase will be a water feature, more plants, and possibly another boulder or two. We don't think that we could have done any of this without the great design work from Chuck, the people with whom he connected us, and his encouragement throughout the process. We definitely would choose Chuck Edwards to do our landscaping design work again.

I thought I could do the rest myself, but I realized my limitations and looked for a contractor to grade the planting areas, fix a grassy area that was a mess due to tree roots, fix the irrigation including a whole new drip and replacing the sprinkler zone. In addition, we needed a concrete walkway and some stepping stones. Kam from Art of the Earth (AOTE) came to provide a quote and it was clear he had both a deep understanding of plants and a sense of how to use them within a landscape to create art. He focused on year round color and explained how that would be achieved. We agreed from the beginning that the look I wanted to achieve was as natural as possible without straight lines. The project manager, Tyler, the foreman, Jose and Hernon worked with focus on achieving the vision. I could tell this by the way they would stop, standback and assess the progress. We communicated routinely, and they all listened to our thoughts attentively. There were some additions and subtractions from the initial quote and the price impact was agreed upon promptly and fairly. They cleaned up at the end of every day's work which my wife was particularly happy with. Communication was great throughout, and there were no surprises except they surprised me with ways to surpass my expectations with their focus on achieving our goals. I wholeheartedly recommend AOTE for any work, but especially if you are looking for an artful (not slapped together) look.

DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!…read more Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience with Art of the Earth Landscaping. After recently purchasing a cabin in Donnelly, we hired this company to improve our curb appeal by planting trees and shrubs at the front of the property. All three trees they planted failed to survive the winter, even though it has been less than a year since installation. We immediately contacted the company to request replacement and reminded them that we had paid extra for a warranty. After extensive back‑and‑forth communication, they ultimately refused to honor the warranty and informed us we would need to replace the trees at our own expense. We consulted with another local nursery to understand what may have gone wrong. Once we shared the types of trees that had been planted, they advised us that those species are not suitable for the local climate and should never have been recommended in the first place. This experience reflects poor business practices, a failure to uphold contractual obligations, and a lack of accountability for their work. Despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue, the agreed‑upon warranty was not honored. We are now left paying out of pocket to correct a mistake that should never have happened. Given that there are many landscaping companies in the valley, this is one we would strongly recommend overlooking.
