Westwood Arborists were one of the several reputable, certified and licensed tree service companies we contacted for tree removable estimates for our insurance company. They were the first company to respond, had the lowest job estimate, the soonest ability to complete the three tree removals, as well as the commitment to repair the fence. They were our first choice. We could not be more pleased with their services. This two-brother team was prompt, efficient, superbly competent, and nice! Then they cleaned up and left our property looking its best, being three trees short. It was time. We had a non-bearing fruit tree that was planted in our front yard by the developers…read moreof the HOA twenty-some-odd years ago. Our home was one of the three model homes in the subdivision but over the years, this tree slowly morphed into the leaning tower of Pisa. Occasionally, branches would get so heavy that they would break off. We had another similar tree in the backyard and we had some stumps to remove. All in all, there was a lot of work to be done. I reached out to Chandler Tree Service and one other company and Devon Chandler contacted me and we met on a Friday afternoon. Devon's tree knowledge is impressive. If there was a category of Dendrology, scientific study of trees, on Jeopardy, Devon would sweep the board. He speaks with such passion about each tree, its tendencies, how it grows, and why it grows. I could even sense that if he put his hand on the trunk of the tree, he could feel its heart and soul. He provided an estimate for all and he asked if I needed to speak to another service and I decided not to. We settled on a date and he provided an estimate via email. Today was the day. The crew arrived with their foreman Ray. They huddled before getting started and systematically began work on phases simultaneously. One crewmember went to the backyard roped himself to the tree and began to execute a tier 2 trim while another crewmember began the work on the stumps. While in the front yard, a crew worked efficiently together to surgically chainsaw branches and feed them into the chipper. They were all very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. After about 40 minutes, I brought each team member a cold bottle of water and thanked them for their work. The end result is stunning. The front yard no longer has a leaning tower of a tree, the trimmed tree in the backyard looks amazing, and I can't wait to mow the backyard without the stumps. If you have a tree problem, your first call should be to Chandler Tree Service. Devon and his team of experts are the A-Team.

This company was hired by Capital Property Management to trim the trees in a rental property…read moreadjacent to our residence. I authorized them to come into our back yard if necessary to better access them. As they were leaving our back yard via the side gate, my wife heard a bang and an expletive. We didn't think anything of it at the time, but two days later, we discovered parts of the gate broken off and leaning up against the side of the house right next to the gate. I called the property manager to identify the landscaping company and get their phone number. After calling, they sent the workmen back out to investigate. I showed them the damage and they claimed that they found it that way. After a bit of escalation, they told me that their supervisor would call to work it out. For over two weeks, I have not heard anything even after attempting to follow up both directly and through the property manager. 6/13 UPDATE: I received a follow-up call with an apology and commitment to resolve this. The lack of response was due to some unfortunate and understandable circumstances. I will update my review when appropriate.

Grass always looked great and trimming my 200+ plants/bushes/trees on that property was always professionally done. Since have downsized to a smaller house and yard. Tony and crew came out and removed several invasive trees from a small yard and just completed an awesomely cool water feature with original looking plants, sandstone boulders, big slabs of turquoise quarts (I think) and river rock. Pump flow is adjustable from the bubbler rock and secondary hidden outlet and both streams have a couple different little falls that 'fall' perfectly. Wish I had before pictures, completely different feel in the back yard now from stuffy and overgrown to relaxing and calm.

To say their work is sub-par is an understatement, and giving them zero stars isn't an option. Plants were planted in areas that weren't appropriate for the plant (e.g. putting a hydrangea by a tree - both take a lot of water) causing them to die. Even when they did warranty work and one of their "supervisors" indicated the plant should have never been planted there, they still didn't fix the problem. As for the sprinklers, they seem to have used as few as they could possibly get away with, resulting in consistently large, brown patches. Even after telling them for months about the issues, they refused to rectify the problems, instead using excuses about the soil, the slope of the drainage (which they created), lack of watering, too much watering, etc. It's apparent I'm going to have to replace the existing sprinklers with more powerful ones and add new ones in order to accommodate the needs of my yard. When our warranty period ended, they didn't hand us off to their maintenance department, as promised, so we didn't have the opportunity to get an agreement in place for them to maintain our yard. Communication with their administrative staff was very terse, and not friendly. I suppose when you're dealing with multiple new construction jobs, warranties, and other landscaping jobs, it's easier to brush off customers than actually engage with them. At the end of the day, I don't recommend them and given there are hundreds of other options here in the valley, surely there's a company willing to provide stellar customer service and quality installation and products.

The team was eager to help us with everything that we needed; pulling up stones, leveling an area for sod, laying out sod, pulling out a mishmash of shrubbery, regrading planting beds, replanting new shrubs and laying out rock. Everyone was eager to get the job done quickly, correctly and with care. Everyone showed up on time, kept the space exceptionally clean and orderly and were systematic in their approach to get the job done quickly. They were very concerned about making sure that they didn't drive on our grass or impede our access to the yard. The communication was fluid and consistent, which was greatly appreciated. The end result was magnificent...we literally can't stop looking at how serene and beautiful it looks (pictures to follow!). The price was absolutely reasonable and for what they achieved, I feel that we got more than we paid for.

The stump grinding however, was not satisfactory. Supposedly, when finished it would look like " a tree had never been there". No sawdust was left from the grinding, but WAY TOO MUCH shredded wood pieces were left and mixed up in the dirt. No way new grass seed could have been added, so we had to rake the soil to get rid of the excess shredded wood. "4F rating". Other than the stump grinding, we were very happy with the rest and would give Save A Tree an excellent rating and recommend them.

I gave up after they canceled three times and did not get my deposit back for three weeks. I made the mistake of calling them two months ago. They made an appointment to come out and look at the tree that needed trimming, but they showed up early, so I did not have the opportunity to speak with anyone. I received a bid that was higher than others, but I wanted a quality job so I went with them. Don't be fooled by the professional website. They try to upsell you on other services. Okay, I paid the deposit and then waited... a week later they contacted me and told me when they would come out for the service. I made arrangements with the tenants, then they rescheduled due to heat and smoke. Understandable. We set another date; I notified the tenants, and they canceled again. Then somebody called me and said that they could do it on Sunday. On Monday, they said they couldn't do the job, but would stop by with a pole trimmer. At that point, I asked about the refund policy. Without further conversation, I got a text saying my refund had been processed. Two weeks later, I called to ask about the refund. More runaround, then I got an email stating it was being processed by their corporate office in New York. I did receive it after about three weeks. In the meantime, I called an actual local company, Priceless Tree Care. They showed up on time, were very knowledgeable, charged no upfront deposit, and did a great job. Don't waste your time with Savatree.
