Veggie gyoza
Merry B.

We visited on a First Friday when the restaurant was understaffed, but we didn't know that until waiting over an hour for our food. It's not a big place, but there were a few free tables and we were seated pretty quickly. We received water for the table and placed our order and then were basically left alone for the next hour. We could see into the kitchen so eventually we realized there appeared to be just one cook so we waited patiently. The manager came by after maybe 45 mins or so and let us know our appetizer would be coming soon, as they were working on it themself, and it arrived at probably right at an hour. We enjoyed our gyoza and assumed the entrees would be coming soon as well, but those took probably another 45 minutes. At a certain point we were trying to figure out if we should just leave some cash on the table and give up, but we finally flagged the manager down again to ask if there was an estimate for our food. We were told it was the next to come out. That was true and we enjoyed that too, but wow. That was definitely the longest we'd ever had to wait for food, and not a great experience. It was late and we were very hungry. We noticed they started turning down new customers at a certain point, and we would have really appreciated a warning before we were seated so we could have decided whether we'd like to wait or not. A quick "we're pretty understaffed tonight, so your meal might take up to an hour," would have been SUPER appreciated and I hoep the staff would consider doing so if they find themselves in this predicament again. The food was good, and I know they're still new, which is why my review is still a 4, but I won't be returning for a while unless it's to order carryout. If you're going to visit on a Friday, be prepared for a wait.

My family and I came here for dinner. They didn't have highchairs so we needed to grab our stroller for our son to sit in. The server didn't come over until about 10 minutes after sitting down. She seemed to be the only server. We ordered and drinks at the same time. The food took about an hour plus to come out. My chicken was darker than I expected and other people in my party got the same thing and their chicken was lighter. I liked the flavor of the food and it was filling. Our server only came back to the table after we finished eating and then got us refills. Overall it wasn't the best experience. I did like the ambiance inside- it was small but nicely decorated.

Simply fabulous. It's a cute restaurant and I really loved the tiny little cat chop stick holders. Of course traditional American silverware is also provided, so no need to worry. I like that this is a bit different than the usual Japanese fare served here. Loads of bowls, curries and noodles. Vegetarian friendly as most dishes can be ordered with tofu. Service was great, food came out quickly and the price point is very budget friendly. And best of all, every last bite was delicious. No complaints from my guests, so that's a very good sign.

Amazing food! Definitely stop in especially if you're on your way to first Friday or something artsy in the factory arts district or even if you're just gonna go fowling. We love Asian food and this was a no-brainer for Valentine's Day and I'm so happy we did it. We sat at the bar and we had a great time! Our server and the bartender were very friendly and very kind. They played music the whole time they have beautiful decorations, even in the bathroom. We ordered a curry plate and a spicy tofu bowl as well as having a couple Japanese beers. There's parking in the parking lot right out front. It is about a minute from Mass Ave. district. The prices are perfect for these delicious meals.

This place is tucked away into the corner that it's easy to overlook during the daytime. Walked in and there's plenty of seating and you can see into the kitchen, however there is a covering which is nice. We started off with an appetizer that had octopus and it was glorious! The breading was soft but also not too soft and was a little sweet. I would've been happy with more octopus pieces in the balls, but they were good either way. We all had rice bowl, I'm the only one who had spicy beef and it wasn't spicy like I expected. I throughly enjoyed the rich flavors of the spice, the runny egg and the rice. No need to add soy sauce because it was set to perfection. Also loved that the chopstick holders were little kittens. I noticed they they also have a bar. Next time I come I'll try out some drinks and something chicken related. It all sounded so good!

New Japanese restaurant. I like Donburi (rice bowls) and I saw that this place has Sutadon so I had to try it! I made a reservation on OpentTable. They were not busy when we went. I could tell they just recently opened. It looked so new and clean. They have appetizers small plates and curry as well as sutadon. I tried karaage sutadon. It came with about 6 or 7 karaage which was a generous amount. Unfortunately karaage itself didn't have much flavor. It was really dependent on the sauce, which I didn't think had enough of. The arugula felt dry, which is another reason why I needed more sauce. I should have asked for more. It was sweet and sour flavor. I liked the spicy beef bowl that my bf ordered a lot better. It was much more flavorful and garlicky. It was delicious. The service was attentive and friendly. I'll go back and order the beef bowl. I'm glad they opened at this convenient location.

I got the original pork bowl and the prices are so reasonable here! The flavors are very homey and 100% remind me of Japan. Egg is perfectly jammy. I'm so excited that we have a legit Asian restaurant downtown. I'll definitely be back! I got carry out this time but will be dining in for the next experience :) I truly hope the owners will keep the authentic homey flavors of sutadon and don't dilute it to the American taste for the other reviewers--no, there are NOT supposed to be a million other random toppings. If you're looking for sushi or other things, you can go somewhere else, not a shop that specializes in sutadon.

spicy chicken karaage rice bowl - 6/10 yakisoba - 4/10 sakura cloud - 7/10 strawberry ramune Review Went in with high hopes and left feeling disappointed. The servers were not attentive at all and barely even seated us. Most of them were high school aged, so we gave them a lot of grace but nobody even seated us, came to give us water, or checked on us after the food arrived. The little service we did have came from the bar, and even that felt very rushed. The food was mediocre at best, but it's new for Indy, so I will give them props for the concept and for bringing a little more culture to the city. The parking situation on a Friday evening was absolutely atrocious so plan accordingly for that. The "influencers" who marketed the restaurant's grand opening talked about ramen as well, which was not on the menu when I went. I think it's offered now, but we went in with the impression that ramen was already available, and that was quite disappointing. Online, the restaurant presented as having a strong connection to a Japanese family/brand, yet when I visited it gave off a feeling of cultural gloss rather than genuine representation. I would appreciate more transparency and authenticity from the restaurant since I was excited to visit. I genuinely love Sutadonya and Legacy Tokyo advertised that partnership so heavily but it seemed to fall short of expectations.

I'm so excited about the number of great places opening in my neighborhood(-ish). Legacy Tokyo is one of them! Admittedly, it was cold and rainy and ramen sounded great so I was initially a little sad to see no ramen offered. However, the host was welcoming and after being seated, my friend and I noticed the cat chopstick rests and that warmed me just enough. I ordered the spicy chicken karaage bowl. I thought the egg coming on the side was weird but they were done well and it's tempting to get extras next time. I think I may have gotten the wrong thing-the nonspicy version, but I was hungry and like karaage so it suited me just fine. It was delicious! I liked having the spring greens on the side. A well balanced meal! The service was great and I was floored by how the dishes were priced. This is a great casual spot for lunch or dinner and I could see this being a nice pre-First Friday stop in my future.

New Year's Eve sushimi

Wild! Got us three guys the last tickets for their exclusive New Years Eve nine course meal, manager chef partner led the entire evening which, if we have to complain, well we did complain how long it took well over three hours. However once in a lifetime trip to Japan via downtown Indianapolis, I was not regretting anything albeit perhaps 150$! Totally worth it, there's a sensational craft to this foodie culture as Andrew Zimmern proved on his top notch show. I cannot comment on their actual everyday menu since this evening loaded us up on random specialties. The scallop, sushimi, duck, and tartar made for sublime eats. I cannot get enough of any of those and a curated course with all and more made a perfect end to 2025. But that dessert, black pepper simple, strawberries, that was incredible. Your wedding sheet cakes, please never again! We liked the big city small street food atmosphere tho for three hours definitely needed some music, TV screen, something to break up the wait. The yuzu and watermelon cocktails had a fun tangy balance, way too easy to drink, can recommend those for the everyday evening visits. It's always a fun run to try new dreamboats like Legacy. Urban legends say their ingredients are flown in from Japan each day, can believe it; along with Bodhi, this is a must try!

We're so glad Legacy Tokyo opened in the Factory Arts District! It's close to home for us and has quickly become one of our new favorites! It's such a beautifully designed, modern space with a great vibe! The staff is awesome - super friendly, attentive, and you can tell they really care about creating a great experience. We've been twice now, and everything we've tried has been amazing. The food is fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. But, make sure you try the curry!! The drink menu is just as impressive, with a wide variety of beer, wine, and sake to choose from. Last night, there wasn't an empty seat in the entire restaurant (a good sign)!! It's quickly gaining popularity, so go soon before it's impossible to get a table!

The restaurant has a very cute aesthetic and plenty of seating whether you wanna sit at a table or at the bar. It was a little bit of a busier time when we came for lunch, but it didn't take our group too long to be seated. They have plenty of options if you have a taste for sushi or if you want a regular protein based entrée with rice I also appreciate that there were a lot of veggie options for non-meat eaters. I had a dish with broccoli and shrimp and it had great flavor and the portion size was perfect. It also came with a small side salad or soup before your entree came out.

It looks appealing on the…read moreoutside and, walking in, also has nice booths, some tables, and a unique, beautiful, large bar/sushi counter. The restaurant presents like a higher-end sushi house, but this is a little mismatched with the slightly loud 80s pop tunes streaming from the speakers. It seems like instrumental soft Japanese stings would be more appropriate. Also a little mismatched in the ambiance is a giant TV screen on the back wall (near out table), and large TVs over the bar area. They just don't "look right" with the tables and interior décor. The menu seems on par in price and offerings for similar-style sushi houses. We split edaname($6), I got the sushi dinner ($23) and hubs got the special lobster & seafood clay pot ($36). I drank water and he had 1 diet coke, so everything with tax + 20% tip came to $90. The food is presented beautifully, and tasted good. Both dinners had choice of soup or salad, and we each got ginger salad. We're lovers of ginger dressing. This one was ok - tasted good but could have used more, as I has lots of un-dressed lettuce in the bowl. My sushi dinner was fine but nothing extraordinary. For the "special" lobster & seafood clay pot, presentation was again beautiful, aroma and taste were good, nice sauce, but it was a little underwhelming in both seafood contents and amount. That being said, we had a small amount of leftovers from the hub's dish (some rice, sauce and veggies), and they present very nice takeout bags with a thermal lining. We actually ended up giving the container of food to a homeless man downtown, so I did not eat the leftovers, and, admittedly, it was not enough for a full lunch. So overall, while the food was very pretty and also tasty, we have a lot of other sushi options that give more bang to the buck for our quantity and atmosphere preferences. #yum #ReviewsByRL

I happened to visit on a warmer day so I was able to see the space with the garage door open. It was golden hour and it had everything all lit up. Very beautiful. Our service was amazing, couldn't have asked for a better server. I can't remember her name but she was so detailed in her descriptions, thoughtful with her suggestions, and had the perfect amount of attentiveness. Now on to the fun parts.... Drinks were a hit! We told our server what we like and they recommended a couple options. I again can't remember the exact name of the drink but mine was a gin cocktail. I'll attach some photos for you. As for the food, every bite I took was delicious. Our table shared the fried brussel sprouts and the ginger miso salad. A very lovely way to ease into our meal on a lighter note. They split up the salad onto two plates for us, which was sweet of them. The portion was pretty good for a $12 salad. Very refreshing. Brussel sprouts were absolutely fire. Get them! Along with that, I also ordered the tempura shrimp maki roll. Inside the roll was cucumber and avocado with giant tempura shrimp right on top, drizzled in spicy mayo. The presentation was cool, a slightly deconstructed version of what I would get somewhere else. There wasn't a single bite left on the plate. I would order all three of these dishes again in a heartbeat. Perfect for a date night or special occasion, but also works for just grabbing a bite with friends. Whenever I find myself back in Indy, Modita will be on my list.

The place was busy for a Friday night, and was somewhat loud. Our waitress greeted us quickly, and was on top of things throughout the night. I started off with a ginger miso salad, based on recommendations on this page. Personally, I could have went without the $12 salad. I would have paid more like $6 for the amount of actual salad I got. The dressing was good, but nothing extraordinary. I did ask for no cucumbers- I could taste a faint taste of cucumbers on the salad, so think they just took them off after they were already placed. We split some Bao Buns. These were the highlight of the show. The pork on them was thick, the slaw was fresh, and the bao bun itself was fluffy. We split two dishes for dinner- the short rib and the chicken udon noodles. The chicken udon noodles were fantastic- packed full of flavor and tons of toppings in it. The short rib fell a little short of my expectations, but I had high expectations to begin with. We have had the short rib multiple times in the past- and normally it is a hunk of meat, similar to a roast. Now, it is strips of tiny pieces of meat with a bone attached to it. If the owner/general manager is reading this- GO BACK TO THE ROAST STYLE- the strips of meat was too much work to eat. Still packed full of great flavor though. I had the bridge to Anshun for my drink. I had never had Baiju before, but glad I tried it. It was a tangy drink that was also sweet- would say it's a must try. Overall, some changes since our last visit that weren't expected, but overall had a great evening here. Can't wait to return.

All of my loved ones were there to celebrate my birthday, and paired with such amazing food it made it a magical night. It was a Tuesday night and was fairly busy, but we passed any downtime chatting with each other and sipping on cocktails. The owner, Nara, is SO kind, sweet, gracious, I could go on and on. You can tell she really loves her job and running a business. The staff were so attentive for such a large party and made sure we always had fresh cocktails, water refills, and empty plates were removed promptly. We had vegetarians, peanut allergies, and picky eaters, but they accommodated everyone. I think my husband and I ended up splitting 5 sushi rolls total (still dreaming of them) and the table pretty much split multiple appetizers across the board. Everyone loved their cocktails, appetizers, and entrees. When I thanked Nara for such an amazing dinner and let her know it was my first time dining there and that it was my birthday she brought out a round of lychee sake shots for the table and started playing a happy birthday song throughout the restaurant. Literally almost cried because it was so sweet and thoughtful. The sake was crazy delicious and a hit for the whole table. The only *minor* downside was that each cocktail was made individually by what seemed to be just one bartender, so it took some time for drinks to come out. Again, otherwise a perfect meal, but keep that in mind and be patient for drinks to come out! My husband and I's favorite sushi haunt has always been Mori Sushi before now, but now I cannot wait to come back to Hasuno for more amazing appetizers and sushi rolls!!! They have a small parking lot that fills up fast, but there is always lots of street parking in fountain square. It's a great spot for dinner and easily walkable to other spots for nightcaps to end the evening.
