I recently attended a music festival at Legend Valley (Lost Lands) and with it being my first time there, I was really impressed with the venue and how everything was run. It's located right off interstate 70 in Thornville. Being that it's in a smaller town, traffic got a little backed up arriving but it moved fairly fast and leaving wasn't an issue at all. Getting into the venue was also pretty easy. There was only one day (out of four) where the entrance line was a little backed up and by little I mean maybe five minutes. The space is huge, with a ton of space to walk around and room for all sorts of vendors. From food and facilities to merch and medical, everything flowed pretty well. I know a lot of this depends on the fest and who runs it but I know the venue has a lot to do with that. I didn't camp, but I did catch word that there's a new tunnel that connects campers to the entrance, which I can only imagine makes the experience much easier. @( * O * )@*500TH REVIEW*@( * O * )@ Wow, on a three WEEK roadtrip that I did from California to New York, Lost Lands was my Grand Prix, the triple crown, or whatever parallel you'd use for the biggest of music festivals. Really fun 4 day camping with 130k other people so enjoy the full festival while you're at it. Legend Valley is a venue about 30 minutes from downtown Columbus, and Lost Lands is just one of many events here. The venue itself is pretty far out there and has some intense traffic to get in, but they do have a general parking area if you are coming from a hotel in Columbus. One big negative that I do have to mention was the camping entry times which was HORRENDOUS. This particular year (2021) was brutal af because of the 13 hour wait time from 6pm to 7am just to enter the venue and setup camp because the organization was rusty and police were just taking people in circles. That was the only bad part of the event and hopefully you don't have to wait that long just to setup your tent because that's the longest I've ever waited for a camping festival. However, that negativity pretty much ended with how everything else went SMOOTHLY. The venue seemed bigger than ever, the event ran without much issues, and the music was good. YES, showers are $10. Bring your own. Yes, the food options are typical overpriced crumbs you call food. Bring your own. need good vibes? BRING YOUR OWN. Now in comparison of the other big festivals like EDC, Bass Canyon, Forbidden Kingdom, I do want to point out that the vibes imo are pretty good, though I think Bass Canyon tops Lost Lands unsurprisingly. Still, tons of space and you never feel overwhelmed like you do at EDC due to Columbus being a much smaller town to host than Las Vegas. There's no shortage of grass to sit and it's nice overall. The dinosaurs add a nice touch to the venue, so enjoy the 60 ft brachiosaurus in the middle of the crowd while walking towards mainstage. It's hard to describe without being there yourself. Overall, great time with friends , dubstep fans, and camping trips if you're in Ohio in September. read more

My first visit to Legend Valley for a camping/music festival was July 1999. My second was Hookahville, May 2001. I returned for All Good Music Festival in 2012, and have made return visits for music/camping festival every year since. Your visit experience will probably depend on the event you attend and the size of that event. Regardless of the event you attend, I've got a love for this patch of earth, having originally grown up in Ohio. It's a great place to see a concert, and there's plenty of room for camping, and the facilities are good-the owner does a great job for music fans having a good venue and investing in the property. I attend Dark Star Jubilee every year which has around 4,000 attendees who camp on site. There's trees for shade, permanent stage & roof, and plenty of wooded areas and parking areas. Have an event and wondering if Legend Valley is worth a visit? It is! Just go and enjoy your visit. read more

My home away from home! I went to legend valley once in 2017. I returned 2019. Lost lands music festival (hosted by excision) was the reason I traveled from California to Ohio. I went the first year and had a blast. I skipped year 2(nocturnal wonderland another event was the same weekend) and just finished up my excursion for year 3! Even with the slight rain Friday in the campgrounds I had a blast! Great friends and music. Attended a music 3day festival and it was a great setting. The staff was awesome! The hike to/ from our campsite was challenging but golf cart rides were available so that was a plus. read more

I've attended this venue two years running; the first for Punk in Drublic in 2018 and the second for the (retitled) Camp Anarchy in 2019. The first year was a chaotic mess with two of the headliners being kicked off the setlist three days before the festival began. They replaced these two with two others so the pain was manageable but nonetheless heartbreaking. The camping was cramped and uncomfortable, the security was unprofessional and seemingly unprepared, the "flea market" was a small collection of commercialized art vendors. Regardless, my group made the best of it. I rate this venue 5-Stars because the second year was the absolute opposite of the first. Everything was perfect from the renewed camping area to the much friendlier security; from the incredible bands to the refreshed "flea market" and activities like Giant Pong and Dodgeball. I had the greatest time and am so proud they turned it all around the second year! Will definitely attend again! read more

Worst festival camping experience ever. Informed via email 3 days before event that you must hike your gear in or spend $100 for them to allow you to bring your car to the camping site (after already spending hundreds on the tickets). My fault for not checking into it prior to the event but I have never been to a venue where you weren't allowed to bring your car in to drop off your gear, this was a new. Okay, shrugged it off, figured it would make it a nice and quiet environment...I was so wrong. Opted out of the $100 service charge and hiked our gear the 1/2 mile over some decent hills to find a campsite. Instead of allowing you to bring your car in, they have electric and (mostly) gas powered golf carts to ferry patrons and/or their gear around but they charge $10 for each ride. These rides do not stop at all during the night so you are constantly hearing gas operated golf carts with subpar exhaust muffling and being blinded by their headlights shining into your tent/site at all hours. Many (but not all) of the drivers were rude, constantly honking at people walking in the road, also regardless of time of day. This created way more noise and disturbance than any car that I saw come through the venue. Prior to entering the venue, there was also a $10 "ID Check fee" wristband, which equates to charging you $10 if you want to bring alcohol into the venue. Found a campsite right next to some people that spent the $100 to bring their car in, so there is no distinction between the sites, they just upcharge you for something you should already be allowed to do. Their website stated that fires are allowed. They have a giant tent that says "ATM, Ice, Firewood". I approached said tent and requested firewood, the worker stated that, due to "insurance reasons" (they didn't pay the extra money), patrons are not allowed to have fires. Since I was supposed to be able to have a fire, I did not bring my propane stove, so I was forced to pay for over-priced food at their food truck vendors ($7 for a 10oz smoothie, $8 for a funnel cake, $13 for a burger, come on...) while the food I had brought went to waste in the cooler. The whole venue is a giant field in a valley with no campsite organization; everyone just setup where ever they pleased.. Within 3 hours of setting up my tent, I had 5 neighbors within inches all around my tent, 1 even removed my rainfly lines so they had more room for their tent. That was a fun surprise when it down poured the following night. There is very little to no tree cover. All of the trees in the venue where you could setup a hammock, someone had already setup their hammock but was not using it. I looked for a spot all weekend and was not able to find a place to hang my hammock to get out of the sun once. And finally I'll mention the porta potties... they had 2 rolls of toilet paper each after cleaning. They were only cleaned twice in a four day event. That means that 90%+ of the time, they were out of toilet paper and stank to high heaven, some even overflowing. Highly recommended that you skip this venue at all costs, the owners do not care about their patrons. It is not worth the time, effort and certainly not the money. read more
