Shrimp Rangoon? Not what I expected

You seat yourself and then maybe you will see a waitress. She finally takes your order and brings you drinks once. We have been sitting here waiting on boxes forever. The food wasn't that great. Live music and atmosphere is great. I would skip this if you really want food or good service.

This is a bitter sweet review as I have always liked the boatyard. It's a small place, but the outdoor patio setup makes up for it, especially waterfront. I come here for the margaritas, one of the best on the lake. They normally have live music, and recently added food. This is where is goes a bit sour for me. I tried a burger and fries, which are extra btw. Burger was just okay, standard flavor nothing impressive. The fries were raw the first round. Mushy, oily, and cold/frozen in the middle. I told the server who went back and retrieved another order. The second round was cooked, but my appetite had left when the cold fry was introduced. Great place for music, brew and lake views. I'll eat before going next time.

This is the one beer my partner had. When I asked for a menu the server just pointed at this. They in fact had more canned beer.

Top note: it's a pandemic and special rules right now and yet not a single server is wearing a mask at all Second: the place looks cute and everyone seems nice though at times inexperienced. More general: I really do appreciate the partitions not only between tables but also between certain seats at the bar. I often can't sit at a bar during this time and it was nice. The bar only had a chalk (not easily read at a distance) menu for their draft. They didn't have a list of their cans. When I sat my partner already had a can. I asked for a menu and the bartender said they don't have any. I pointed at the beer my partner had an asked where the list of those were. She just mentioned a few out loud. I ordered something on draft. It was kicked (totally fine). She asked someone to change it but I just said something else was fine. Thank goodness because there were no more kegs of what I had ordered I later learned. Back to the no menu: they mean they don't serve food. Despite the name they don't have their own grill. I read another very helpful review that explained that even before quarantine they had a plan to only use food trucks for a year. Disappointing. We chose this place strictly for the grill in the name. Had a drink and left for a nearby place with food. The decor was really cute. The place was totally clean. If you boat up, looks convenient and lovely. Will still visit next summer probably when they have a food menu.

Staff was very rude. Girl with chunky blonde highlight and pink highlights. No reason to be mean, I know it's busy but still.

Good food. Good service. Nice atmosphere. Adequate parking available. Never eaten outdoors but there is a patio option.

But they do have different food trucks, I assume only on weekends.

I don't get out this way often, but it's been a week since my visit, and I've thought several times about my eventual return.... I really enjoyed this place. It was a sunny Sunday (Father's Day" and I had an hour or two to kill on my way back from someplace and I thought I'd try a new place. It was conveniently located off of I-70 and I had never been in the town of Buckeye Lake before, so I was a bit curious. I was quite pleased when I drove up to see a roadside patio and an open air indoors (large windows that open up) for nice days such as these. Parking was easy to find in back. There's a casual restaurant attached where you can sit in and drink your beer while eating their food, or vice versa: Sit in the brewery and go pick up your food when it's ready. The bartenders were great. There's a water station and clean bathrooms just beside the bar. Ordering my flight was easy, the menu was easy to read and the bartenders were knowledgeable and bonus: seemed happy to be there. The playlist sounded like it was taken from my Spotify playlists! It was like perfect for me. I told a friend afterward about several songs they played, and they were like, did they have access to your data somehow? Like, how did they know to play your favorite songs? So kudoos to whomever curated the playlist on the evening of Father's Day, 2026. It was perfect. I love the feel of the place. Lots of boaters stopping in from the dock across the street after a day at sea and some people just hanging out, chilling. It felt like I was in a resort town in the summertime (maybe I was?). It also appeared family-friendly, which is a selling point to me, but at the same time a comfortable place for adults to do adult things. I look forward to visiting again sometime soon, preferably while the weather is still nice.

SOME OF THE BEST FOOD & DRINKS ON BUCKEYE LAKE...!!!…read more As we walked in on a Friday night, we saw a chalkboard outside that read "Steak Night! Filet Mignon or Ribeye with salad and 2 sides for $16.99! Add a crab cake for $3 more!" Guess what? It was good. REALLY GOOD. The Beach House Pub is in the former Beachcomber in Fairfield Beach, on the south side of the lake. But it's new ownership, a new menu, and they've brought new life into this place. There were 5 of us. We had pizza, wings, 2 steak dinners, a burger, drinks, etc. Everything was really good. The steaks were an absolute bargain. The ribeye was delicious. The filet was delicious. The $3 crab cake was really good. Drinks were strong and very well executed. Sarah, the new owner, was a manager at the Copper Penny for many years. She has absolutely, positively "upped her game" here - the Beach House is really good. REALLY good... We're thrilled, because we have a house nearby. Service was great. The live band was good. We got seated right away, and served right away. And it wasn't a madhouse, like some of the other places on the lake can be on a weekend during boating season. I'm sure it will get busier as people realize what a gem this has become. If you find yourself on the south side of Buckeye Lake any time soon, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Beach House Pub.
