My seven year old at the time struggled with his swing timing during the 2022 machine pitch season at M-ALL. We put him in Legends and specifically the Speedball program they invented in early 2023. By the time the 2023 machine pitch season began, his hitting (and fielding) abilities had been transformed. He has a beautiful swing now and he's obsessed with continuing to improve it. He also did two weeks of Legends in the summer of 2023. My older son also did Legends and their online program at the start of Covid was a wonderful invention by David Klein to keep the first batch of boys who joined sane and fit. The coaches are all so friendly and positive and you can tell they love working with young kids who love baseball. The program has grown a lot and expanded and I just hope that doesn't affect the quality and the culture. read more

I am so glad that Legends is in Orange County, wish it was around when my son was younger. Coach Kelly was a huge help to my son as a PONY, Club, and High School player, taking him from below average, to making his High School team in a very competitive program. David Kline the owner of the program uses people and charges a fortune for college kids who are not really watching the kids, nor do any of them care about the development of the kids as players. As a mom of three very active boys, I am always on the hunt for the right programs to keep them engaged, learning, and happy. Two of our boys have participated in Legends programs over the last three years and our youngest can't wait until he is old enough. Our current second grader, though, is the one that loves baseball! He has done the one-day camps, summer programs, and most recently did Speedball. Every experience has made him more excited for the next. David and his team make the work fun. They coaches not only encourage athleticism but also a positive attitude and how to be a good teammate. And now that Little League has started, we are seeing the benefits of Speedball. My 10 year old just finished a three week baseball camp at Legends and had a really great time. With COVID, I was hesitant in signing him up for anything over the Summer. However, I could tell that the program was well run based on the questions asked of each family, the detailed protocols and process that was followed to keep coaches and kids safe. My son has always loved baseball camp and came home each day talking about how he could improve his hitting and pitching form. He was even inspired to seek hitting lessons from one of the coaches. David who runs the program is extremely detailed and has the best communication of any camp director I've seen. This is 100% needed right now and my family appreciated it. Plus, as an added bonus, the coach put together an assessment video of my son which was spot on. We will definitely be seeking out Legends programs in the future. read more

My son hasn't played baseball since he was four, but he is pretty athletic. I was happy to find out that he was moved up to the next age group because he was a little more skilled that others his age. I was VERY impressed that they made this adjustment because other sports camps we have participated in never made adjustments based on skill set. When they made this adjustment, my son had so much fun feeling more challenged. Overall, he has a great time at camp. He loved working with all his coaches and to my surprise, he remembered all their names. I would highly recommend. read more

Because of his participation in Menlo Park Legends' fall and winter programs, my 9-year-old son is noticeably more confident, inspired, and happy. There is so much I love about Menlo Legends: - EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION. Dates, requirements, and any changes are all updated quickly and clearly via email, an app, and concise videos. This helps the kids (and parents) know what to expect and lessens their anxiety (especially if they are new and don't know anyone). - COVID SAFETY. The staff, kids, and participating families take COVID safety seriously. There hasn't been a case in the several months we've participated. - FUN. FUN. FUN. The staff is sensitive to kids burning out or getting bored. They are so creative and implement fun new rules and challenges all the time. While it's hard to play games during COVID, owner David K. split the kids' regular pods of 12 into 3 mini-teams of four kids for the purposes of weekend games. Each mini team gets their own color t-shirt and the boys get to pick their own numbers and whatever name they want. I had no idea what a big deal this would be for the kids. They love it. Also, because of the mini pods, they get more time at bat and practice playing all positions. Music is often playing and they even have an announcer to add to the thrill of the game. - FANTASTIC STAFF - All the coaches have an area of expertise, pitching or catching, etc. They'll even set up mini-clinics for kids to focus on a particular skill during regular practice. They ask for feedback and actually respond to feedback by implementing changes. They clearly love what they do and it's infectious. Even the umpire at the weekend games is amazing and provides constructive input and tips to the kids while they play. - FOCUS ON THE WHOLE KID - Even though the staff is serious about baseball growth and skill development, they encourage kids to develop long term goals by filling out goal sheets, participating in local giving efforts, and becoming respectful, community-minded young people. During the winter break, David Klein developed a sort of baseball bingo/winter break activity sheet that incentivized the boys to stay active and physical, while earning "runs" for the their mini-teams. This camp might be OK for older kids but my 8-year old son and the younger kids had to play on a small makeshift baseball diamond in the outfield all week while the older kids used the real diamond. Also, I showed up an hour early one day and witnessed the younger kids trying to play a game on this smaller diamond - one of the staff was pitching to them and four other staff just sat there watching, not giving any instruction or contributing in any way. The "detailed hitting instruction", "one-on-one instruction" and "coached games" they advertise on the website were nowhere to be seen. I also left my kid in after-hours a couple of days and when I picked him up the kids were just sitting around entertaining themselves in the dugout. No "exciting after-care option" that is advertised on the website. There was a junior member of the staff in charge and when I asked him what after-hours activities were offered he said there weren't any that they just let the kids do whatever they wanted. Basically what they have on their website, at least as it pertains to the younger kids, is false advertising. My boy gives the camp 2 out of 5 and I agree - apparently they do some fun things during the day but I don't think my son walked out of there with much in the way of new or improved baseball skills. read more

Finding Menlo Park Legends was among the best things that happened to our family in 2020. David Klein runs an excellent program, both in terms of safety and in terms of skill development. It was COVID compliant and I felt secure with all the precautions that were taken. Our 9 year old son is obsessed with baseball, and was eager to join the summer camp after every other camp was cancelled. It turned out to be his favorite thing about summer, and so we signed him up for both sessions of the Fall baseball program as well. David hires strong support staff and has the right balance of firmness and kindness in his coaching style. He is a strong communicator with parents as well. Through MP Legends, our son learned that he loves to pitch, after a previous fall ball experience with kid pitch the year before that was less inspiring. =) Our son looked forward to *every single day* of the summer and fall programs, and we would send him back to a Menlo Park Legends program in a heartbeat. Legends Baseball is simply the BEST.  As a mother of three sports-loving boys, I have some experience in the sports camp circuit and nothing holds a candle to David Klein, his team of coaches and his exemplary programming and planning for Legends Baseball.  We fortuitously met David through his Covid-born "QuaranTEENS" youth group and transitioned into Legends summer camp and the Legends Fall/Winter baseball programs.  With gratitude, I watched as my eldest son developed confidence in his swing and better footwork at his desired infield positions.  I watched my middle son develop a true love of baseball. My boys improved immensely with the high-level coaching which also happens to be woven with the core value of letting kids have FUN. David Klein and his coaches did an amazing job over the summer with their pod baseball camps. The communication was fantastic thru the entire process. I especially loved how it seemed he went out of his way to give priority acceptance to kids of essential workers, unlike many camps which would be hesitant to accept them in the first place. The camp felt very safe and pickup and drop off protocols were organized and fairly streamlined considering the situation. Initially, my son was not super excited to go to a camp for one sport for 3 straight weeks but after the first day, he came home and was a changed boy. The light came back into his eyes which covid had temporarily extinguished. He was so excited to go to camp every single day. He even told me he enjoyed this experience more than his entire summer of club baseball last year, a huge endorsement. I also loved the positive and completely honest assessment David sent of our son after camp ended. Definitely some good things for my son to strive for. Thank you David and Legends! Legends is a program that does so much more than teach baseball. Our experiences started with my son signing up with David Klein inhis QuaranteenSessions back in April when we were in shelter in place. It was clear from day one that David loves his job and is passionate about helping kids grow as individuals. My son connected with David quickly and looked forward to the sessions with David and the other boys even though it was on zoom.  Once things started to open up and David was going to be able to provide in person programs I knew I wanted to have my son exposed to him and his coaches in person. I have come in contact with many coaches over my time as a coach and as a parent and I can say hands down that David's passion and desire to help kids with their journey in sports is topnotch.  David does this work for the kids and not himself.  He loves what he does and it shows!  He hires coaches that feel the same way and it provides a very positive, productive and fun environment for the kids.  My son participated in the summer 3 week long camps as well as 2 of the Fall Sessions.  David made sure all kids were safe during their time with him with temperature checks each day and mask wearing. When things shifted with CDC guidelines David did as well - he took everything very seriously and wanted to make sure all families felt safe with what steps he was taking.  He communicated often and asked families to take surveys so he always had a pulse on what parents needed and wanted during a very tough time. After my son participated in the 3-week summer camp he received a heartfelt individual video from his coach giving him tips and guidance on how to be a better baseball player but also praised him for his sportsmanship and work ethic.  At the conclusion of the fall season we received another video from his coach that was truly amazing.  It is clear that Legends has dedicated coaches and leaders that love what they do, are great with the kids, know when to push them harder, know when they need support and know when they need fun.  My son's experience with Legends was something that I will forever be grateful for.  It has been a tough 10 months and Legends provided a space where my son felt safe, confident, grew as a baseball player,made new friends and had role models in front of him that helped guide him into the person he is going to be. read more
