I just moved to the area, so I've been searching for a new group workout spot for me to frequent. I saw that Legends offers one free workout for new peeps, so I reached out to them to set up a time to come in with my BF. I used to be a member at an MMA gym where they held kickboxing for fitness classes, and I found Legends class to be so much better. I really liked: - how they focus on different areas of the body each day (upper body the day we went). - the classes are the same all day no matter if you come in the AM or PM, so you never miss out. - different punches are numbered and posted largely on the wall near the punching bags -- so it's easy to follow if the instructor shouts out combos in #s. - Tiffany was out instructor, and she was really attentive, helpful, friendly and motivational. I wish all workout instructors were like her. She knows her stuff. - they teach people how to actually box in the fitness class, so you can aim to spar when they deem you ready. - they model combos after actual fights, and play short video clips for people to watch the big dogs actually do the combos you're about to do. - the upper body focus portion around the ring kicked my butt. Very much needed! - they write out details of the workout on a whiteboard, so you're not guessing what's going to happen next. - Tiffany, Berklee (house manager?), and other class patrons actually talked to my BF and I, congratulating us for getting through the class at the end. Normally fighting gyms are not so welcoming, so this was very much appreciated. FYI -- they do not do kickboxing here, but I was still the most sore I've been in a long, long time. I LOVED this gym. Been going here for a little over two months and really love it! There are days that I want to die, but the hard workout and people really keep you coming back. Admittedly, I'm out of shape and have had to modify some of the harder parts of the workout. I've never felt shamed for it and have instead, only been offered alternate moves for things I can't yet do. The boxing training you receive from Andrew is awesome, so you really feel you're working hard. You also walk away feeling empowered and ready to face anything. So thankful I found this gym! For nearly two years, I have been a regular at Legends Boxing. At first I was skeptical, assuming it was strictly 'fight training'. However, I quickly learned that it is an extremely effective workout routine where you simultaneously learn a skill of self defense or recreational boxing. Since I never intend to step into a ring and fight, I am there with the sole intent of looking and feeling better. One of the key benefits of Legends over other gyms is the uniqueness and variety of the workouts. There is generally 5-6 different sets that range from bag work to ab work or light weight lifting. Since the routines change from day to day, I am yet to get bored or dread having to workout. For me, the change up in the workouts has helped me to get into the best shape I have been in my entire life. As an added benefit, if I ever found myself in s situation where I needed to fight, I'm better prepared as a result of my training. read more

I can't stress enough about the positive atmosphere that exists at this place. Not only from the coaches but from all the members as well. Best full body workout ever! I've belonged to many gyms in the past as well as hired personal trainers. A boxing workout is like getting all of that rolled into one. I have been working out at Legends Boxing Gym for about two months now, and it has been nothing sort of amazing. I have lost nearly 20 lbs through a better diet and the awesome workouts. I am in my 40's and never really worked out, and I was never any kind of athlete in school. I had tried other personal trainers and gyms and often times ended up injured because the workout and weight routine was too intense. At Legends, the workouts are mostly body weight and light weights, with lots of situps,cardio, and bag work. You learn boxing skills and defense while you are getting in shape. The trainers at Legends have made me feel welcome and have only encouraged me to do my best. If the coach noticed that I looked tired and not fully recovered he would stop me and tell me to get some water and recover. They never pushed me beyond my limits and never made me feel bad for being weak or fat. They believe in you and it makes you believe in yourself. This is an amazing gym with a great staff and it is worth every penny for the membership. If you have tried other gyms and other personal trainers before, and did not find success, you should seriously consider giving Legends a try. This review is for Legends Boxing in Sandy. This is a new facility, so all new equipment in a nice, clean, bright space with a hard-to-beat view of the Wasatch mountains. The workouts are TOUGH, there is no question about that, but it's really about what you put into it. If you want to push yourself, you're going to be completely spent by the end of the hour. There is a nice balance of conditioning (burpees, push-ups, v-ups, ab crunches, mountain-climbers, leg lifts, rope jumping, etc.) and bag work. The bag work drills are designed to help you build strength and coordination, which they do indeed. The instructors are patient, thorough in their explanation of what the particular strike combination or conditioning drill entails, and always encouraging. When you are not quite getting the combination, or your form is slightly off, they will take the time to help you until you get it right. I look forward to going to Legends because it's a guaranteed feel-good being there-- sense of accomplishment afterward carries through for the rest of your day, and into other aspects of your life, as well. read more
