There restaurant has two parts: 1 bar area where you can eat casual and another section of the room is closed off so that the ambiance is quieter. We had a crab cake, salmon BLT sandwich and lobster mac & cheese. The Salmon BLT sandwich and lobster mac & cheese definitely hit the spot! Delicious and not dry at all! WE stopped by here for lunch while out on the North Fork. We probably should've just ordered a bunch of appetizers we would have enjoyed our meal much more that way. We ordered the calamri appetizer and oysters Miguel both were delicious. However, the meal kind of went down hill after that. After studying the lunch specials and entrees I found that it was very difficult to decide what to order because of the descriptions of the food and the food combinations, they just sounded quite unappetizing. Food was decent but quite overpriced. Reasonable quality burger. Baked clams tasted good, but they only give you 3 for $17, and there is way too much bread. Would it really set them back to give a little more food for the money? Clam chowder was well-made, but nearly ruined by too much salt. For $16-17 for that as well, the bowl wasn't even filled to the top, and there wasn't that much clam in there. They threw in a $4.50 substitution fee for me asking for salad instead of fries with the burger. I didn't see that on the menu, and the waitress never mentioned it beforehand. I didn't get $4.50 in extra salad for that price, just seems like a BS penalty for some reason. I've never seen a place actually try to tack on an extra fee for something like this. The place is pretty nice inside, but I won't be going back. We came here on a Friday night. We ordered the shrimp scampi and calamari as appetizers, and scallops in lobster bisque, seafood stew, and seafood vol au vent. We also had a couple of cocktails. The food was delicious, fresh and well prepared with generous servings. The only reason I knock this from 5 stars to 4 is the service. Although it was pretty empty, it took forever to get our orders placed and served. Also, I asked for the drink menu so I could order a second drink and the server never came back to take my order after she gave me the menu. My wife and I stopped in for lunch on Tuesday. Sat at the corner of the bar, played quick draw, had a few ice cold Miller Lites, and enjoyed a delicious lunch. I had a super fresh orca, tomato, onion, and cucumber salad, then the seafood vol a vent. My wife had beef carpaccio, then scallops over a tomato risotto. Food was tasty enough but the service was super slow. Waited 40 minutes for soft drinks and a beer and over 80 minutes to get apps. We had a large party but it was after the dinner rush. This is not an easy review, because it about what I regarded as my favorite restaurant on the North Fork. We lived in Orient point for 11 years before moving to Baiting Hollow. From both location Legends was a bit of a trip, but was worth it, (before). The pandemic was rough on everybody, but seems to have hit Legends harder then most. We have been there about six times since the start of the pandemic, but the last two visits have galvanized me to write this review. Let me say first, that the food is fine. Limited menu at the beginning of Covid and gradually expanding as thing started getting back to normal. The service is awful! This is even harder to say, because the servers are nice and pleasant, but don't seem to know their job, or have not been trained. Last night, lovely girl server, totally clueless. No silverware or napkins until the food came out and we requested it. No bread. When the bread finally came it was totally cold in the center, like it just came out of the freezer. I remembered we had the same experience a month ago when we went there on a quiet Tuesday night. The servers remind me of some nice high school kids their first day on the job. Much better service in any NY dinner. This kind of service is not acceptable in a place like this. Lack of training or supervision is obviously the problem. Hopefully the owner of manager will read this and correct things. I only listed the highlights of the evening, even more boring details but you get the drift! read more

I haven't been to Legends in about 5 years and they have really improved the place. They completely remodeled the restaurant. Beautiful decor and the presentation of the food is superb. This restaurant is off the beaten path but there are signs to guide you on how to get there. We went for a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon so it wasn't too crowded. It happened to be Cinco De Mayo so we had a frozen margarita, very good. We each had an appetizer. Baked clams, you get three good size clams. For me they were a little too mushy but my boyfriend enjoyed them. I had the fresh figs with gorgonzola cheese. Although I was expecting the figs to be warm, they were cold but had great flavor to them. For dinner I had the Quinoa. It's mixed with carrots, cheeses and had some zucchini strips on top. Very good but next time I would ask for it as a side dish. If you can eat about 3 cups of Quinoa then go for it, I could only eat about a third of the dish. My boyfriend had the pork medallions. It came with mashed potatoes and broccolini. A dish he would definitely have again. We did not try the deserts so I can't comment on them. Service was excellent. Very polite and attentive. read more

My boyfriend and I found Legends via Google while out visiting the wineries and we were thrilled we did. We stopped for a late lunch and some more wine! The sandwiches were delicious. I'm vegetarian and the grilled veggies on focaccia was anything but bland. My boyfriend had the chicken sandwich, also amazing (according to him). Wonderful wine list and the prices were reasonable. We ate in the dining room which was romantic and pretty. Next time we'll go to the bar. Afterwards, we enjoyed the beautiful view across the road as it was an amazing day. The menu is interesting and it has some items with a healthy looking twist which I appreciated, I think of it as upscale pub/American food. My wife used to like a quinoa dish here but I don't see it on the menu anymore. We always sit on the bar side but there is a nicer restaurant side as well depending on what you're going for. It's in a quiet area on the water so you can stroll around a bit to walk off dinner and take in the scenery. One time we came and had a great time, another time the service was OK and it really smelled like fish, hence the four stars. read more

Perfect escape from some of the craziness that comes with the wineries of the north fork. This place is tranquil and away from the limos and buses that drive around the 'party' types. The atmosphere of this place is relaxing, and service is very polite and not overly officious. The burger was nice and juicy, and my friend thought the thai noodle dish was well seasoned and not too spicy. It would be nice though if they carried a wider selection of local Long Island wines (I don't remember seeing any local red wines at least). Overall, a great place (slightly off the beaten path). Clearly this place is very popular. We read that it was casual in the bar and upscale in the dining area, so we gave it a shot and went to the bar. I'm giving it 5 stars despite a few issues...that's how good the ahi tuna sandwich was. When we first got there we were shocked by how loud it was. People seemed to be shouting at each other around the bar. Calmed down a bit later. Then something happened with their electronic ordering system and our food wasn't put in, so we waited a long while for it, without any notice that they never put the order in. My wife and I had dinner here this summer a number of times, by ourselves or with other couples. The dinner menu has great seafood choices, and this continues to be our go to place when out of town friends visit us. Selections that we and our friends repeat with delight include Shrimp and Vegetable Spring Rolls, Mike's Spicy Calamari and New Suffolk Clam Chowder as starters. Main courses that have been great, and we have ordered again include Seafood Vol-au-Vent, Boullabuisse, Sesame Crusted Cod, Hawaiian Chicken Salad and Pad Thai with Shrimp. Had heard great things about this place and was excited to try it. Extremely disappointed. Food was mediocre at best and some was inedible. We sent back a tuna poke bowl because the tuna was gray . They claimed it was because the tuna was marinated. Tomato and burrata app had some 1/2 rotten tomatoes. The butter tasted rancid. The oyster crackers were stale and the chowder had a metallic taste. I am praying my husband doesn't get sick after eating the raw oysters and clams. He said the clams were dry and shriveled too late for me to stop him from eating them the service was not professional. We let the manager know we were disappointed and she was very nice about it and gave us a $35 gift card. We would not return. As we were leaving we met some young families who were also very disappointed in the place so I know it wasn't just us. I don't live on Long Island but every time I come to visit my mom we make our way here. It's the best of both worlds with a sports bar feel to the right and a nicer dining room to the left. Great for grabbing a drink and then sitting down to a nice meal. Service has always been great and the food is delicious! I've had stuffed lobster, mako shark, and king crab legs, all of which were extremely tasty. Local wines, craft beers. Legends is tucked down a back road and around the corner looking out on the water but it'd be hard to miss the signs on every street corner pointing you in the right direction. I've loved this place for nearly twenty years! The atmosphere is always conducive to having a good time and the service is ALWAYS top notch. My sole complaint is one that sadly keeps me from going there more often: their prices keep rising and rising and... Last Friday night I had two cocktails (with mid-shelf liquor) that cost $13.50 each ($32 with tax and tip)! That is too steep for the North Fork; this is not the Upper East Side! I have never had such a bad experience at a restaurant. The waitress was so rude!!! We waited over an hour for a table and it took another hour for our food to come out. When the waitress brought our food out she made a few mistakes..when we questioned her she responded "Haven't you ever heard you shouldn't mess with someone who takes care of your food" & some other sarcastic comment. We all looked at eachother as if did that seriously just happen? She didnt come back to our table after that....we all needed water and she was no where to be found. I called the manager over to explain everything and her response was....well she's new. That does not make it better. She offered to get us dessert but we were so disgusted with this horrendous establishment with their rude staff that we couldn't wait to leave. The manager then had the nerve to confront us in the parking lot bc we did not tip the waitress. How could she honestly expect us to tip the waitress for her outrageous comment/service. Two years ago I would have recommended this place but now, after three or four lousy meals there this year, I dont reccomend it at all. Smaller portions, bland, too pricey. Fish sandwich $15--tiny pice of flounder on a packaged roll and a handful of fries. Nothing else--no lettuce or tomato even. Bland, bland Mediterasian salad and overcooked pasta.
