    9/19/25 - a well stocked bar
    Bob S.

9/19/25 - it was a beautiful day to have an alfresco seafood lunch on a romantic private patio. Tried the fish and chips weekly special. Two fairly large pieces of flaky fish. With a large side of fries and Cole slaw. The lobster bisque had actual pieces of lobster. That's what you would expect, right? It's not always so. They have a very extensive, well stocked bar, 24 beers on tap, and bottled beer as well. There is a separate indoor dining area apart from the bar and a tree shaded patio for an alfresco meal. The servers are very attentive. The fish was a little too oily, otherwise it would have been 4 stars

First time here, as I look at the menu the prices are reasonable I ordered a Bloody Mary. My Bloody Mary is good. . I'm still deciding between a lobster bisque or the King Richard mussels. I'll flip a coin. We are sitting outside it's a beautiful day. I asked our waitress how big is the plate of mussels, in truth it's more than I can eat. I'm going for the lobster bisque. Our server bought me my lobster bisque. Great flavor and very filling.

Small bar with a fair amount of outdoor seating in the back. A window wall at each end lets in day light. The bar takes up most of one side, with pub height tables for two or four occupying the other side. Two small, gender neutral restrooms are off a short hallway by the tables. A sign by the door says to see the host to be seated. The host stand is by the back door. Is there a back entrance thru the outdoor seating? Any way, we walk the few steps to the host stand to be returned to where we started to be seated. As the bartender is the host and waiter it may be there for his convenience. We were given a 'specials' menu along with their regular menu. I opted for their watermelon and goat cheese salad with tijan citrus dressing from their specials menu. This chopped salad also has cucumber and pickled onion. It would have been amazing with the variety of sweet melon, creamy cheese, tart onion, cool cucumber and bitter lettuce. Sadly it was drowing in dressing which is really all I could taste. The dressing is a bit heavy, less citrus than I had hoped for. Still a nice salad. Fresh. Maybe ask for yours 'lightly dressed' or 'dressing on the side'. My dining companion had the bangers and mash. The sausages are quite large, so plenty of meat here. Just not the 'bangers' we were expecting. Larger, different taste. Plenty of mash and the onion strings on top were tasty and more of them would have been welcome. They have a lot of beers to choose from with illuminated beer menus over the bar back. That's the real pull for this place. Beer lovers haven. Full bar and soft drinks on offer too. The space is comfortable, and clean. The music is loud. We walked in to a country song, followed by Billy Joel, then The Scorpions, followed by Blue Grass. A little later I remember Andrea Bocelli followed by the Rolling Stones and then fiddle music. Soooo, at some point in time you will probably hear something you enjoy. Parking is on street as far as I know, and as it's a bit outside the really touristy area you may be able to find parking and miss some traffic. Restrooms need a really good scrub. They look clean but smell like boys have been missing the bowl. You know. Definitely stop in if you enjoy a wide selection of beers to try. The menu includes burgers, calamari, mozzerella sticks and other pub type foods.

A tad off the main road but right across from a public parking lot. Very friendly and welcoming. Food was delicious!! We got the fish and chips and the grilled cheese special. Fries are tasty and crispy. Both meals were plentiful. Our server helped my husband choose a beer, even if he admittedly didn't try them. We saw other dishes near us that we want to try next time. So we will return!

Great sports bar/restaurant in Mystic. Be aware, no parking and on-street 2-hour parking is limited, and public lots are pricey. I had the fish and chips, which had a huge piece of fish but they pit it over the fries and cold slaw. This made my fish all mayonnaisey (new word) and mushy. Bonus points for having malt vinegar and Tenents Lager. I had fish and chips and Tenant's nearly nightly during my 2 years in Scotland. Service was great, they put on the UFL game for us.

My husband and I have been to this place twice now and every time we are in mystic this will be our go to spot! I am never disappointed with the incredible food options, drink selection and amazing staff! This is a must stop if you are in area and want really good food. You can sit in door or outdoor depending on time of year and both are very good choices for ambiance.

Amazing food, lively atmosphere. My wife and I visited on a Monday night around 7PM. The bar was doing their trivia night so it was packed and quite loud, we had to ask to move to a different table at first because we couldn't hear each other talk (understandable for a pub on a special activity night, though). Service was good but took a little longer than typical to order food. The table we moved to was by the front door, and people were smoking right outside and holding the door open which wasn't great, but again understandable considering the venue. The food itself was excellent. Everything came out hot and well seasoned. The Tuck chips are a fry of their own design, very salt & lemon peppery, crispy and thick. Chicken was crispy, not dry at all, well cooked. Cheese curds were great; portion size was too much for 2 people, very sharp flavor. The Ruben was awesome. I order corned beef at every Irish pub I visit and this was some of the best I've ever had. Again, portion size was generous, I had half the sandwich and fries and took the rest home. Would visit again, but maybe not on trivia night. Thanks for the great food.

Came here for trivia on a Monday night with some friends and ordered the friar tuck's burger. The burger was good but the service was excellent. Super friendly staff all around and a fun place to come for trivia or to watch a game and hang out with friends.

Very rowdy and loud crowd due to the Celtic's game. However, the bar is a nice set up. I love how it's an indoor outdoor feel. There is an extensive dinner menu, but we just ate so we only had drinks. I ordered a spicy margarita non-alcoholic. It's not the best I have had, but I still enjoyed it. My husband ordered the Two Roads Summer Heaven. He really liked it. Place was packed, so it's clearly a hot spot in Mystic.

Friar Tuck's Tavern is in the area where all the food is downtown. It's always difficult to find parking here; I personally got lucky finding parking in the lot by the art museum, but even spots there were very limited. The Tavern itself has an indoor and outdoor seating area. The indoor scene seems to cater towards those watching sports on the TVs and drinking beer, while the outside patio is more for hanging out and enjoying the weather and chatting with company. For an appetizer, I got the Crab Dip which came with naan. It was very cheesy and had a good amount of imitation crab, and I enjoyed it very much. This is definitely a sizable portion meant to be shared between 2-3 people. For my entree, I got the Bangers and Mash. The mashed potatoes were smooth, the onions were flavorful, and I especially enjoyed the pork sausage. It was good but nothing crazy. The service was nice but a bit slow.

    Tikka Masala with Jasmine Rice
    Brandon B.

We swung in here for dinner and grabbed a seat at a table near the bar. We were surprised there was no dining room, but it's a small tavern so it was a little loud. I ordered the tikka masala and my wife got the bangers and mash. We also shared a scotch egg which turned out to be the star of the meal. The bangers were kind of bland but my tikka masala was good. They had a good selection of local beers on tap too. It may not have knocked my socks off, but I'd definitely come back for their beers and pub fare.

Do they have NFL Sunday ticket?

I believe they do. I've been on both Saturday and Sunday and they've always had all the games on college and pro. Not to mention beer selection and food to die for. Hope you stop In…

It is about 30 min from Foxwoods. It is easy to find in the evening as it is along the main road going through downtown mystic.

We were her only table for at least 40 mins and yet my friend had to help her with her job like she was overworked, and my friend had to asked multiple times for a booster seat and she still didn't get it. Again, my other friend who basically stole her job at this point got it. Completely forgot to take my order too, had to literally ask her to come back after realizing she genuinely wasn't coming back to finish our orders. And then my friend had to help serve the food to us. Yet when the older white couple came in after us she was all of a sudden had a pep in her step. I find it odd the the couple before and after us had great treatment yet my friends and I had to basically wave her down and just do her job at some point in order to get service. And yet the bartender had a full bar and she was doing just fine. I was thinking maybe she as new and we were a big group, but even new people shouldn't have that hard of a time considering you only had ONE TABLE FOR ALMOST AN HOUR. I'm not trying to accuse anyone of anything but I find it quite odd that me and my group, who were the only minorities there, were the only ones treated terribly and everyone else was had a fine time. I mean I don't know how else to think. The food was good though, shout to the chef, thank you for at least saving the last bit of the evening. I wish the gratuity tax went to you. And to the horrible server, I hope you like the 42 cents I gave as a tip, I gave you just as much as you gave us.
