Have never had anything but delicious food. I love that the bar menu has sandwiches and pizza and the main menu has so many different things. We dined here on a Saturday night and called about two weeks in advance for a reservation. The restaurant in down near the water and has a nice view and area to walk after dinner. There is a restaurant formal on one half and a bar on the other half that are separated by a wall. We ate in the dining room which was nice and clean. Nice appetizer menu. We selected the calamari which came tossed with vinegar hot peppers. A nice twist to an old staple. Huge portion. We also tried the filet martini with blue cheese. Rich but good. Not a ton of room left for dinner. Which was the chicken and a salmon dish. Both were great but we had to take most of it home. Not over priced but not cheap either. We recommend this for a nice evening out if you eat on the formal side and def make a reservation. read more

I've been to Legends many times over the past several years. Always got a good meal. They've seemed to change their philosophy on pricing and menu portions. My wife and I sat at the bar had one drink each (House wine and Guinness) plus two salads. The bill was over $50.00. The crazy part was the salads were small. They were no bigger than a side salad. They were good small side salads, but not worth $15.00. I've been in the hospitality business for over forty years. Good service and good value is key to longevity. Charge accordingly but make sure the customer walks out feeling like they got value. Legends did not do this. With all this said the service was poor. The salad was delivered with out dressing. I had to wait to an additional 5 minutes for them to bring after I asked for it. I will not revisit this place. I can go up island or even NYC to get ripped off. Pete read more

Legends is such a great spot on the North Fork, probably one of my favorites to visit every time I am in the area. The food is absolutely amazing, I've never been disappointed with a single dish. Great beer and wine and the service is always top notch. The bartenders Tim and Kenny are the best, so friendly and attentive. I truly love this place. I wish they weren't so expensive otherwise I'd definitely be here more often. Their food and the whole décor is very nice though. I love going here with friends to grab dinner or lunch and then to sit up at the sports bar for a few drinks. Bartenders are really great. Definitely well-located right by the water. Both my sister's worked here and can honestly say the food is well-prepared and made with love. The people in the kitchen have been cooking for a very long time and know what they're doing. ONE SUGGESTION!!!! If they could somehow make the avocado sliced thinner on the chicken bacon avocado sandwich it would be perfect. Otherwise the avocado is usually sliced thick and slides off the sandwich and makes a mess and the whole things falls apart. otherwise great! read more

If possible come hear during the summer so you can go to the beach, which is walking distance from the restaurant. I recommend to hit up the beach before and after dinner, i swear the water gets warmer at night or is it that the air gets cooler so the water feels warmer? I have had some i my favorite summer memories doing just that with friends and family. The food is gourmet taste with diner sized portions. The bread basket alone is worth the 5000 mile drive to get to this part on the island. It has the best raisin bread with walnuts and a raisin puree infused dough that must be home made. I have tried a lot of the dishes on the menu since my family usually shares, and i have never been disappointed. Its an eclectic menu with regional dishes such as pad thai, chicken panko, boulibase, long island duck and stuffed lobster. The specials for the day are more like specials for the season since they are created using ingredients available during that time of year. Dessert is very rich and decadent, but is not to creative, more of the traditional stuff like creme brulee, chocolate cake and ice cream. The wait staff is always patient and respectful, the owner (tall lady with short hair) usually makes the rounds to add a personal touch. By the way i have never sat in the dining room, instead we go to the bar where sports are on the tube and money is spent on quick draw. read more

My friend & coworker who lives in Mattituck highly recommended Legends for dinner. Me and my cousins stopped in on our holiday Veterans Day weekend. After a long day of wineries, and shopping we were so delighted to find a welcoming warm atmosphere. Two of us ordered the braised short ribs, which was melt in your mouth delicious. My other two cousins had salads, which were equally terrific. We all wish to return to try their in season seafood during the summer. Best you make a reservation, the dining room is not that large. Finally had a chance to try this place out after hearing friends rave about it for years. Unfortunately we weren't impressed. We ordered the calamari to start and after having to spit out the first 3 pieces into my napkin I was done. It was so rubbery that it was impossible to eat. The marinara it comes with was very good though. I ordered the eggplant napoleon, it was served cold which says to me that it was in the fridge from the day before. I was expecting warm breaded eggplant not cold plain eggplant with no breading, it was flavorless but It was served with diced tomatoes, pesto, balsamic glaze and cheese crumbles, which were all very tasty. We also ordered the chorizo and sausage burger. It was dry and grizzly. It was topped with onions and cheese and this delicious chipotle cilantro mayo which we should have gotten a side of because dunking the sandwich in that sauce would have made it edible. The French fries that it came with were some of the best fries we've ever had though. Although our waitress was friendly she didn't seem very knowledgable about the menu when I was asking her questions. On a positive note, the Long Ireland Celtic Ale's were icy cold and helped wash away the taste of our disappointing lunch. read more

Legends is a real gem. We've had dinner and lunch here countless time and are always impressed. We've only eaten on the bar side, so I can't speak to the service or ambience on the fine dining side. The bar side is indeed set up like a sports bar - there are plenty of TVs, casual seating, and sports memorabilia. Though it is the casual side of the restaurant, the service and food are certainly up to par. Our servers have always been polite and hospitable, often guiding us in the right direction when we are stuck between options. We've never sat right at the bar, but the bartenders always look engaging and helpful. The Oysters Miguel and Filet Mignon Martini are musts for appetizers. I could eat those all day. Entrees are often updated, and you can never go wrong with something off the daily specials menu. It's not a cheap locale, but I think the prices reflect the quality of the food and service. We will certainly be back many more times and will continue to recommend to family and friends. read more

Poor service from the get go. Good food but they make no effort, and it's evident by their attitude that they would prefer not to serve families. Our 30 minute wait turned into an hour while multiple groups were seated in front of us (without children). On the whole the staff was generally rude and disengaged. Will not return. read more

I've been in Cutchogue for many years, and have eaten at Legends many times. In my past experience it's been your average bar food. You don't want to complain because it's a local bar and you get about what you expect at a local bar...until tonight. I love a good linguine and white clam sauce....like at Gerry's (God rest his sole) in E. Rutherford NJ, or on Arthur Ave in the Bronx, and I rarely fall victim to ordering it in an unknown location, but being it was a hard day of work, I'm on the water, and I wanted to treat myself, I thru caution to the wind. Linguini and white clams sauce shouldn't let Legends use it's name. The dish Legends is serving should be called butter and clams. It's horrible. When linguini and white clam sauce is served to you, you should be overcome by the smell of garlic and fresh clams. When it was put in front of me, it reminded me of my childhood, when my aunt who couldn't cook worth a damn used to served us "noodles and butter"......her version of macaroni (and I use that term loosely). I rarely ever eat a little of my dinner, send the remainder back and go hungry, but this was an exception...it was that bad. To make it worse, the bartender asked me why I didn't like it. Again, making a rare mistake, I was honest and told him what I thought .....and made a point of being overly nice so as not to be misconstrued as a rude customer. amazingly, I was told I was the only one to complain. "Well sir, no one else has complained". The second worse thing to bad food is the staff minimizing your opinion by telling you your the only one that feels that way; not surprising that the bartender who's thirty pounds over weight should feel it's ok for your food to be literally swimming in a pool of butter, but he'd make it a point of telling the "chef". The moral to the story, if you like good food (and I don't mean if you debate whether McDonald's or Burger King is better), order a burger at Legends, check to see that it's cooked, and you'll probably have a much better experience than I did. read more

After visiting the North Fork Vineyards, my girlfriend and I were looking for a decent place to get some lunch and as usual wanted a place which offered oysters on the half shell. We Yelped the area and came across Legends whose menu included Oysters so we gave it a try.....we were not disappointed. We started with a dozen Oysters and waited for what we assumed would be Blue Points.....to our surprise the oysters which came to our table were obviously not Blue Points...they were larger and lighter in color. Within minutes we had polished off the dozen perfectly briney, tender and super fresh Unknown oysters our very attentive server had brought to us. We then learned from our server that the mystery oysters were in fact Cornell Oysters (Hog's Neck Bay).... We had heard about this oyster and were actually looking to try them so it was a nice treat. My girlfriend had the sesame crusted grilled tuna sandwich which was grilled to a perfect rare and I had the seafood pot pie which was thick and creamy and nicely seasoned served in a light and flakey puff pastry. All in all it was a perfect lunch. My only gripe (and won't let it affect my rating) is one I have with many other restaurants when ordering a none alcoholic beverage like unsweetened iced tea I don't think its good business to charge for refills..I think it comes across as "cheap"...there's really no reason for it. We will definitely be visiting Legends in the future. read more

The staff was very unprofessional with the customer service. We had a table of 10.we all got our meal except for my fiancé. Her first excuse was that it would be done in10 minutes. 10 minutes go by mid you we are lol done with our food and says there was a problem with the system and it was never put in. Then we complained to the waitress and she says what else can I get you? He then says a steak. And that is going to take long. Then he ordered seething else and that as well was going to take long. We then called the manager over which was so unprofessional. Didn't even act like a manager. All she was able to offer us was a salad or soup for someone who didn't get to eat. Of course we were unhappy with her choices . I mean really? Who wants a salad or a soup after ordering a burger? We complaint to her and she then says ok let me talk to the owner. She then comes back and offers us a round a drink which only 4 of us got drinks out of 10 people. So we all started talking about it . She snapped her fingers at us and asked us what do you want us to do. They were so rude and unprofessional! Never again! read more

Went to Legends on Father's day. My first visit and it was anything but good. Service was terrible, waitress unattentive. We had 3 in our party. Our soup came out rather quick, but lunches were at least an hour later. 2 of the lunches were correct, but mine came out all wrong. I then told waitress I would order a salad so it would be faster. My friends had finished their lunch by the time my salad came out. I thought Legends was over priced. It also isn't on the bay like advertised. We sat by a window overlooking street, then parking,. The staff was friendly and the food was excellent. First time there and we will be back. Ordered the waitress recommendation, buffalo chicken wrap...very tasty. Wife had a cheese burger - it was a great choice and I will get that next time and fried were awesome. Ordered an unsweetened iced tea and it was thick and terrible! Only two issues - place wasn't crowded and the food took over 20 minutes to come out. Waitress never came back to check on beverages or we would've ordered a couple of beers. Very nice place. Be sure to sit in the bar/busy side opposed to the quiet/close to death side. All of the food is great, especially the guac and the braised short ribs.
