Ps they give a healthy pour. Everything was prepared with care. My scallops were delish, my husbands short ribs were the best I have had and a generous serving with creamy mashed potatoes. The brownie with ice cream yummy. The only thing I would change is the bread not tasty and soft crust. This one is a winner and worth the ride out to the North Fork! read more

It's East End Restaurant Week and tonight I stopped by Legends in New Suffolk. I loved the drive out East and the location of this Restaurant is beautiful, right on the water...One Million Dollar View! As for parking there isn't a designated area but I'm sure you'll find a place. Made a reservation for 5:30, arrived early and my reservation was honored immediately. We were in the small dining room to the left. There are a handful of tables and I enjoyed the decor. I was definitely the youngest person inside besides the waitresses. The Clientele is definitely "older". Service was ok. I thought it was odd that it took so long for the bread basket to come to the table and the basket only came with 3 different rolls and crackers, no butter. They could have definitely brought a few more pieces of bread with the amount of $$ being charged. The appetizers took only a few minutes to come out. Same with dinner & dessert. Refills came around more often during the last half of dinner. I feel that service could have been better. Food was decent. Decided on doing the $28.95 pp Price Fixe Menu for East End Restaurant Week. The appetizer choices were less than other Restaurants participating. There were a fair amount of choices for dinner and a large amount of dessert options compared to other places. I ordered the price fixe plus an order of octopus. I wasn't overly impressed with the food. -Braised Short Rib with Goat Cheese- THE BEST thing I ate while at Legends. Amazing! The short rib was so tender and cooked ever so perfectly. The crumbled goat cheese on top of the crostini made the dish so creamy. 5 out of 5 Stars -Spring Hearts Salad with Bacon Vinaigrette- Eh it was ok. The salad was grilled and warm which I wasn't into. 2 out of 5 stars -Grilled Octopus- Gross!! Disappointing and Horrid. The portion was so tiny but honestly I'm glad now because I didn't have to waste a bunch. When I bite into seafood and get a mouthful of sand it's a huge turn off for me. The Octopus wasn't cleaned properly and I had quite a few pieces that were full of sand. It was also very tough and hard to chew. I did not like this dish! 0 out of 5 stars, skip it -Shrimp & Spinach Risotto- I was content with my choice but in no means was I blown away. There was a large portion but I felt that the chef really skimped out of the amount of shrimp. The shrimp were cut in half to look like there were more on the plate then what they really were which is deceiving and not cool. Overall taste I rate the dish a 3.5 out of 5 -Grilled Asian Flank Steak- A few slices of Flank steak which was very juicy and the teriyaki sauce it was served with was very good. The rice tasted like a box of minute rice...it was bland and disappointing. The bok choy wasn't the best either. The steak was the best part. 3.5 out of 5 -Walnut Torte- Not the best dessert I've ever had but certainly not the worst. It was edible but nothing to go out of my way for. 3 out of 5 stars -Molten Chocolate Cake- Standard warmed chocolate cake with syrup in the middle. 3.5 out of 5 So overall I'm glad I took the drive out East. Recently had a romantic dinner with my girl at Legends. We opted for the tavern area. This rustic cozy space served the same menu as does the main room. Menu was extensive and offered a variety of dishes. We opted for the lobster pasta entree and a NY skirt steak. Pasta was rich with chunks of lobster. Steak was equally delicious. So this review is from a person that used to go to Legends regularly. I went for the Tuscan seafood stew that was a regular on the menu after Labor day. This was my first time going to Legends now that it changed hands and I was surprised to find out that the menu is completely changed. They have a choice of proteins, choice of 6 sauces, and a side. Or the bartender suggested sushi, which after wanting a hot seafood stew isn't going to cut it. I got up and left and drove to Greenport and ate at Little Creek Oyster and sat by the water and had a delicious meal of hot chowder, perfect raw oysters and a beer. Whoever the new owner is, you messed up taking the seafood stew off the menu, honestly the old menu had a seafood pot pie too that was great. And mussels in a beer and mustard sauce that I would eat and I didn't even like mussels. So sad that you changed it to be like a cookie cutter restaurant. read more

We've been going to Legend's for years, and never had a bad meal, whether it was dine in or take out. Unfortunately, this is not the Legends of before. Under new owners, there is a notable difference. We recently placed a DoorDash order with them. We always understand that food isn't the same when taken out, and expect that, but like I said before, we have taken out from Legend's under the previous ownership and it's always been great. Our wings did not come with blue cheese dressing, despite being stated on the menu. Not a huge deal, if that was the only thing missing. My husband's burger was missing the bacon he ordered and while he ordered the burger marinated, he couldn't really taste it. I had salmon with a soy ginger sauce. The sauce was also missing. The salmon was undercooked, and quite small for the price. Our side of broccolini had good flavor but was swimming in oil. My son got the chicken fingers. The breading was a little well-done, but looked okay. We also ordered the cucumber avocado roll. That was a disappointment. There was hardly any avocado. I've had better veggie rolls from the supermarket. Thankfully DoorDash was able to resolve the issues and refund us for the missing items. Not sure we will be back anytime soon. read more

It's cozy atmosphere makes it perfect for a date, family gathering, or ANY gathering you have! It's the perfect restaurant. The food is out of this world and always expertly prepared. But the service is what takes it over the top. Last night my server was Krystal with a "K" and she made my parents and my experience perfect. We were looking for a nice spot to grab a bite to eat while we were heading back from out east and decided to stop here. It was around lunch time and there were a few people sitting around the bar. We were told we can pick any seat and decided to sit at a two person table. The table was a little small but we weren't ordering much. I decided to get a glass of red sangria that was just okay. I would probably skip it and just get a beer or something easy from the bar next time. For food I got a burger with some fries and my fiancee got chicken quesdillas. The food was fine, nothing special. The burger was cooked perfectly which was nice. The food is too greasy at times just not eatable for example I eat curry salmon every time we go there it gotten worst with excessive butter my curry salmon was almost floating!!! Legend has it that Legends is a great restaurant. I noticed that they had a LI restaurant week menu so tried them out and have to agree it is a great restaurant. I always thought of them as a bar with a expensive menu. They actually are set up as 2 separate restaurants hence the logo the best of both worlds. One is a fine dining restaurant to the left as you enter the lobby. On the right is a restaurant with a large bar and lots of tv's. We had dinner in the fine dining room area. It was impressive. Service and food was excellent. I had the shrimp scampi for an appetizer. The garlicy butter sauce was so good I kept dipping the bread in the sauce to get every bit of it. Next I had the flat iron steak. It was cooked medium rare with a touch of brown sauce and included string beans and fingerling potatoes. For dessert I have the apple crumble. We also had the lamb shank which was huge. A good portion of that was taken home along with the flat iron steak. The servings are large. As an added bonus they discounted the bottles of wines 15% so we had the Macari Chardonnay. They have a decent amount of local wines included in their wine list. The regular fine dining menu prices are on the high end but the quality, service and atmosphere is top notch. Next time I'll try the bar side. They have a bar menu like burgers, wings, etc and 21 beers on tap. read more

Really good meal. Really good. I ordered a skirt steak w/ cauliflower purée' (something-or-other) and string beans. Great seasoning and technique not one coplaint. The above mentioned cauliflower by the way was great. Me lady ordered(and received) a seafood pot pie- type dish (minus the pot/minus the pie) but in a bowl w/ crostini breads, some random moans seem to have turned the heads of some of the other customers. Salt/pepper shakers remained un-touched for the duration. Great/friendly place and defiantly worth a nice trip out to the east end on Long Island. I was just at legends with my best friend. I want to give some constructive criticism considering we go there pretty often. This all is coming from a place of people who knows how to cook and loves food. So the Service was amazing! Mike the bartender took very good care of us. His drinks were on point. We ordered the mussels, the tuna tartar, the duck boa buns and a side order the broccolini. Mussels are a staple at legends with the white wine and sliced garlic broth but this time around I was really disappointed. The recipe changed completely. The broth was mediocre and minimal and the mussels were pretty much dried out. The duck boa buns were plain and flavorless and the broccolini was fishy tasting. The tuna tartare was on point. I was there for dinner last week and ordered main courses. We ordered the pad Thai and the Vegetable Curry dish with shrimp. Both dishes were incredible! The muscles should go back to their original recipe. After tonight's experience , I wouldn't spend the money on the starter apps but only go for a cocktail. Maybe their goal isn't to keep the locals from coming back and if that's the case, they are succeeding. read more

My wife and I were out in Southold this past Sunday visiting my son and his wife with their newborn baby girl and when we left, they recommended that we try Legends restaurant and Bar by the water. It was raining when we arrived but upon entering we found the atmosphere very inviting. Our waitress was attentive and very friendly. We had the guacamole appetizer which was sooo fresh and delicious. We also ordered 2 burgers (mine with fires) and my wife had a salad. Amazing burger and "out of this world" that I should have ordered more, but gotta watch the calories as you get older. The experience with 14 large and medium-sized screen TV.s surrounding us. Great place to hang out when the sun comes out with a water view location. I will surely go back when I go out there again to visit. 5 STARS!!! A very disappointing and wasteful experience. On the recommendation of a friend, my wife and I drove from Mt.Sinai to visit this restaurant. I made a 4 pm reservation on 10/22 and because of unfamiliarity of the area, we arrived at 4:12 pm. The girl at the front desk asked if I had a reservation, I told her I did, at 4 pm and gave my name. Immediately I was chastised for being late and was told that I should've called if I was going to be late because they "are very busy, but we saved the table anyway". She walked us into the dining area where there are about 20 tables. 12 were unoccupied and there was no one waiting for a table. They were not in the least "busy". We were seated and menus were already on the table. Since it was highly recommended we were anxious for a pleasant experience. Seated at 4:12, at 4:25 a waiter comes by to say he will be taking a drink order and a girl will follow him with water. The beer came quickly, but I wanted to wait to drink it until we ordered dinner. 4:40 comes and no sign of a server to place our order. Other servers walked by and smiled but that was the extent. I'm upset at 4:45 and we decided that there was no urgency on the staff's behalf to ensure a nice meal. We decided to leave. Exiting the lobby there was a man leaning against the wall behind the desk, texting or playing on his phone. I stopped a second waiting for an inquiry on his part. Nothing. As we left I commented to him that the service here is awful. I doubt he cared. Don't waste your time at this place. read more

Not good at all. Daughter ordered the Cesar salad, soggy croutons and very fishy tasting dressing. Mahi tacos for myself one bite yuck, husband ordered burger. We decided not to eat entrees because the windows were swarmed with tons of flies and landing on our food. We just imagined how many flies were in the kitchen. Long Island wine is always a plus. Dinner was tasty. Bread was served nice and warm with olive oil . Salad with goat cheese needed alil more cheese for me. (I love lotz of cheese) dressing yum. ( not too much ) the shrimp were cooked perfectly. The pork shank fell off the bone super delicious flavor. A very Satisfying meal. We ate in the dining area on one side. Talk about a superb find in a really cool area! While renting a home for the weekend in nearby Cutchogue, our winery driver/DD told us about Legends, so we decided to stop in for a hearty early lunch prior to a day-long winery tour. We arrived just as they were opening for lunch, and our party of seven was seated in a nice, large corner booth/table. The atmosphere at Legends is very cool - it's a light, airy space with exposed beams, lovely woodwork, and nice seating and upholstery. There are no fewer than 23 TVs in the bar/dining area, but it doesn't pervade your experience if you want to focus on the bay side atmosphere, but it's also perfect if you're dining with people who want to watch the sporting events on the TVs. The menu is really impressive, especially since I was expecting little other than typical "bar fare" like wings, nachos, burgers, and taco salads. Fortunately, there was much to offer, and even the daily specials were all very appealing. It was truly difficult to decide, as they have something for everyone. I'm pleased to say that all of the diversity among palates and preferences in our party were sated and satisfied. As for brews, you won't be left lacking here, either. Their on-tap list is so extensive that our waitress offered to leave her list with us for our table to peruse while she brought over silverware. Plenty of seasonal, local, and national craft brews, plus all of the usual suspects. We ordered 4 different pumpkin-related beers alone! For an appetizer, I couldn't resist their guacamole (I can't resist any guacamole, TBH). Legends' version included a "special surprise ingredient," which I don't want to give away, but I will...it was pomegranate arils (seeds) - they added such a nice crunch and texture to the guac without making it sweet! You must try it. We ordered many entrees, but I have to rave about my personal choice - the Eggplant Napoleon! It's a beautiful "strata" of sliced eggplant, tomato, basil, and feta cheese, with balsamic and pesto - holy moly, it was great. I would add that the lobster mac-and-cheese, Mediter-Asian Salad, Scottish Salmon, 10-inch stone-baked pizza, and the grilled chicken/avocado/bacon sandwich were all HUGE hits with our party. Also, if you're looking for a TV-free. bar-free atmosphere, the left side of the restaurant as you enter houses the quieter "fine dining" area, but we preferred the "upscale bar" atmosphere of the right side of the building! read more

A Strong 4...You should follow those little signs all over the two main roads of the North Fork to this New Suffolk landmark, which is the heart of the tiny maritime community hanging down off the south side of Cutchouge. All the locals know how good this place is and I'm sure many would be happy to keep it to themselves. The place is really an elevated sports bar with huge windows facing out onto the little beautiful harbor. Sidle up to the bar area set up with a number of TVs showing whatever games are on , likely to be filled with said locals, as well as maybe some bikers(a common site all over the North Fork, particularly Greenport) and maybe a dusting of visiting city residents. There is an exceptional selection of beers on tap and an excellent wine list, which is of course heavy with North Fork producers releases. Service friendly and convivial and the bartenders are skilled in the art of banter. I haven't had a chance to dine in the more serene and quiet dining room looking out onto Peconic Bay but it seems like a lovely setting. The food is way, way better than you might expect given the charmingly laid back atmosphere. Check the specials and get any local seafood they have, you won't be disappointed; the super fresh local weakfish special, with brown butter & cashew sauce was the best thing I've had in weeks & the local steamers were perfectly prepared and tasted as if they were plucked from the waters minutes earlier. Oysters Miguel loaded with spinach & cheese were decadent and delicious. The dish might be a rip off of Greenports Frisky Oyster signature dish of Oyster Friskafella, but is one very tasty rip off. The place isn't cheap but well worth the price. If you are trying to stick to a budget the excellent burger, surely one of the finest to be found anywhere on the island, is a solid value starting @ $10 with fries or salad. Zero Pretension, great food & drink, plus the charming atmosphere and idyllic setting make this place a North Fork favorite. read more

I made a reservation on Resy more than two weeks in advance requesting Dining Room, When we arrived we were told our reservation was in the bar/lounge. I showed them my Resy Dining room confirmation (and other emails from Resy referencing the Dining room). Legends staff continued to show Resy put us in the Bar/Lounge. The front of house staff was unaccommodating and continued to blame Resy and told me that we should have called the restaurant to confirm the location of our reservation... why have an online reservation tool that you claim has issues. I have made reservations with Resy for other establishments in the past and never had issues. This was my birthday dinner with family & friends and my 92 dad was with me, I wanted him to be comfortable and was worried that the vibe/noise in the bar/lounge would not be good for him. I explained this to the Front of House staff and they continued to state there was nothing they could do and that it was Resy's fault. How about a piece of dessert for my birthday... nothing. All that being said the busy person and our waitress Crystal were great! Food was good... I guess I learned my lesson... next time forget the online tool and call the establishment... well at least this one... read more

Have been coming here since the mid 1990's, usually on motorcycle rides from western suffolk county to the Hampton. Lunch menu is excellent with no noticeable difference in food prep. from dinner. Place is set up so that people can experience any dinning experience. From lunch at the bar, to informal meals with table service at tables near the bar area, or formal dinners in the dinning room without interference. Very eclectic menu, burgers are excellent, seared tuna sashimi, sea food pot pie. Steaks, salads, appetizers are exceptional. Seafood always fresh and prepared perfectly. First off we would like to say we had an enjoyable evening and the food was good. There was just one issue with our food that we feel should be addressed due to the overall safety of one of the people in our party. Three people ordered the east meets west bouillabaisse dish which does NOT mention salmon , swordfish, or tuna. However when the dish came out, we realized it had salmon and one of the girls in the party is severely allergic to salmon. Thankfully the salmon was sticking out on top so we realized before she consumed the dish. We called the waiter over, and he nervously laughed it off, said he was sorry, and proceeded to get the menu so she could order another item. She ordered a salad, and it came out towards the end of the rest of our meals. At no point did a manager come over and apologize. We requested to speak to her at the end before we were leaving just to make her aware of our experience so this would not happen to any future patrons who may order this dish. She said she was not made aware until the very end, however she also said she went into the kitchen with a menu to tell the chef they needed to fix it. A little conflicting because if she did know when it happened wouldn't you come over to apologize sooner or come over to check on us to make sure everything was ok?? Anyway, we enjoyed the food and dessert, we just feel a nice evening could have turned into a disaster if she took a bite out of that dish. Obnoxious owner and staff. They lied to us about having no tables at 4pm when the place was clearly half empty. Supposedly reservations were needed and the place was booked the entire night (yeah right!). My family & I wasted 20 minutes waiting for someone to give us an answer. How embarrassing and dehumanizing the owner is turning away a family because there were kids in the group. Awful human beings run this place. Avoid. UPDATE- the owner is claiming they were social distancing and that's why it was half empty. That's total BS! The tables were already situated 6 feet apart. They're trying to make excuses for being a family-unfriendly place and turning down hungry kids. Moms and dads out there don't patron this place. Trust me. read more

In town while on vacation and decided to venture out for a nice meal on Wednesday night, 4/13/22 -- very underwhelmed and a bit insulted by the quality of the food. The only thing about our dinner that was "okay" was the wine (then again, they didn't make the wine...). The glass itself had a lot of water in/on it from when it had previously been rinsed -- the servers hadn't completely dried the glasses. I ordered the Parmesan Panko Crusted Chicken with a side of Brussel Sprouts and Potatoes. The Brussels lacked any seasoning whatsoever -- *literally* no salt or pepper; I could've steamed a bag of better tasting Brussels from the grocery store in my microwave at home. The potatoes were overdone, near the point of being burned, and again, no seasoning. The beurre blanc sauce on the chicken was bland and the texture was absolutely horrible -- it was as if the sauce was reheated from a can. And there was so much of it, too. I could barely find the chicken under all the sauce. Usually chefs will mask mediocre food with good sauce, but there was nothing "good" about this sauce to begin with.
