Amazing experience for my wife & I and especially our kids. There are so many things to do, as well as keep your kids entertained for at least two hours. Legoland offers a variety of small and large interactive stations that are beneficial to a kids imagination. During holiday season when kids are out for break is the best time because they always have a show themed for children. They have workshops and also coffee shops for adults for the in between times. We went to check out the Legoland Discovery Center. I took my 7 and 10 year old. We got inside and were instructed to go to the 4th floor. There is a ride when you first enter, but one of the workers told us, since the line was long.. she recommended coming back and doing other things first so we weren't waiting in line. You enter through mini land, which was pretty amazing! Lots of sights to see. My boys enjoyed that.. onto the main floor.. there is another ride.. a 4D cinema (it rains) .. a cafe.. VR (extra $) .. a build workshop.. a play area and lots of different LEGO play sections. My boys were entertained! The food at the cafe was just okay.. very much kid sized .. and options were slim. But all good for kids. I didn't try the coffee. Overall we had a fun experience.. maybe 2-3 hrs at the most and then they started getting bored! We purchased off Groupon so it was a score! read more

For about $20 a ticket, my kids had a blast for over 4 hours. They built stuff with Legos, watched a couple of the 4D film shorts, raced Lego cars, marveled at the Lego models of San Antonio buildings, played on the play structure, and had such a fantastic time. Be sure to bring socks for the play structure (though if you forget they're only $1 at the cafe). I don't think the price is worth the experience but I do think it's a cool concept that included a small ride. I wish it was a little bit more interactive with more planned activities for building things. This seems to be a place for smaller kids like toddlers rather than young kids (8+). Totally fun time at Lego Discovery Center today. We bought tickets ahead of time online. We were able to book a time of our liking and arrived with plenty of time to enjoy the space and all the Legos we wanted. It's not The first attraction is a ride, where you have to shoot your way through to find and save a baby dragon. Then you will head through Lego Master Kevin's 1.5million piece rendition of the city. It is a really amazing likeness of your favorite Downtown location. We also opted for the $8 activity book, which gives the Discovery Center rooms a purpose. The kids can complete tasks and stamp their progress. If you get hungry there's an in house cafe that serves sandwiches and Starbucks. There is another ride called Merlin's Adventure, teo playgrounds (one for little kids and and one for little kids). Every other hour there's a Lego Expert led Creative Workshop. Violet was super patient with my kiddos. They would regularly ask her about the Legos around the Discovery Center. She was awesome and taught us names for the weird shapes like BURP and SNOT. The one thing we missed was the 4D Lego Experience, but the kids were stoked about coming back...so, for next time. It was a fun time for Lego builders if all ages. We would go again. read more

Do you have little ones? Toddlers, maybe young kids ages 5-9? This place may be the outing you need in order to burn off their energy but also challenge their creative minds. Located inside of the Rivercenter Mall Shops (along Riverwalk), it's easy to find if you are parking in the garage. Parking costs $15 for up to 4 hours, which I think is sufficient time for this discovery center. The SeaLife Aquarium is right next to Legoland and combo tickets can be purchased for quite a nice discount. I wouldn't recommend taking kiddos less than 1 to Legoland discovery center because I'm really unsure of what they could do. Inside, there are a few rides which was kinda cool because of how limited the space seemed. They have a car building station, a few places where kiddos can sit and adults can watch their imagination unfold, and even an indoor playground (one for older kiddos and one for toddlers). There is a plethora of figurines which leave you in AWE because of how detailed they are. You could purchase an annual pass if you have the type of kid who would do this thing daily, but for us, we will have to wait a while. Oooo and for us adults, there is a coffee shop inside! We decided to make an afternoon at Legoland discovery on our recent San Antonio trip. It is in the the shopping mall situated on the riverwalk and although a bit of a trek, it was still in walking distance, even for our 4 year old. They do have a pretty cool setup here where I think there is enough variability where this place has just about everything for all ages of kids. You can choose to partake in the activity pack which will allow your little one to track their progress at all the stops, a bit of a treasure hunt. Your first stop is a bit of an amusement park ride - where you shoot at lego targets, similar to interactive rides at entertainment parks. After the first ride you get to walk through the display area to see a lego San Antonio, Alamo and flowing Riverwalk and all. Once in the main area - they have 8-10 other stations that all have a theme as well as a different level of complexity, really cool! It kept our little one busy and was entertaining for us adults as well. All in all, it was a great way to spend a hot summer afternoon and we are excited to check out the discover center up our way when our little one needs his next lego fix. read more

This was our second time to visit Legoland. It's really best for kids under 12. What surprised me about this place is that it's not actually a theme park, which is what I had expected. It's more like an indoor play place. It's located inside River Center Mall which has access to the Riverwalk, so that's nice. It's really not the kind of place you could spend all day at unless you're really trying to. There are two rides and a Virtual Reality ride you can purchase for an extra charge. There is an indoor play scape that the kids really love, and a cafe that I would honestly skip unless you're starving. We ate right before we came and planned to eat lunch here, which we did, but it was pretty disappointing, mostly snack bar food and kid food although there is coffee, and there are plenty of options for little kids and some allergen conscious food options, so I appreciated that. The 4d movie could probably use some repairs, the fans just blew the entire time which made it cold, and the water jets only sprayed certain seats and dropped between scenes so depending on where you sit you could come out completely dry or drenched. I think they might be suffering the same staffing shortages as many businesses because it was kind of a mess, there was no soap in any of the bathrooms and overflowing trash cans, and the only employees I saw were stationed at rides or attractions, so there wasn't really anyone to talk to if you had questions or issues. I will say miniland was really cool, and my kids really enjoyed Legol overall. read more

Went with my friends to take their kids to this Discovery Center and I must say it's a tad confusing for those if its their first time. Upon arrival it's a bit chaotic as they try to push you to purchase their bundles to enjoy LEGOLAND and Sea Life. Once you pay and take the elevators up you'll be ushered into a line to take group photos (don't worry you can pay $$$ to get a copy as you leave for the day) and then you're ushered into another line. I kinda wish there was signage to inform you the very first ride was optional and that you can actually move forward without it. The way the layout is set leads you to think it's a must. The main area is what the kids go crazy for as that's where you can build models and enjoy the discovery center. I did enjoy the lego replica of the city though which had a daytime and nighttime feature. read more

I was quite surprised at how much there really is to do here. I was a bit skeptical based on the other reviews I'd seen and thought this could be a bust but I needed to entertain two kids (2&4) with something to do. There was a really cool exhibit to start the experience where you could see Lego San Antonio. There were neat little references to the city and some parts were even interactive and the legos would move around. After the exhibit area was the interactive section. There was a car building and racing section, some duplo legos to play with, a Lego friends section, and a Lego dots to make decorative pieces for the wall. We also got to experience the rides and the movie. The movie was a 4d experience. It was a bit wetter than I had expected but the kids enjoyed it. The rides were a shooting experience with laser guns and a merry go round style spinning ride. The shooting one was fun and we did it a few times! Before we left we got to participate in a workshop where the kids could learn to make an item in an instructor led activity. It was about 20 minutes long and we made an ornament. We thought you might be able to keep what you made but this was not the case. All in all, its only about 1-2 hours of activity but the kids throughly enjoyed themselves and I think we did everything we possibly could during that time. We went when it first opened and it was amazing. Our second visit was after the pandemic and boy what a difference! This place is way overcrowded. We purchased tickets online and process through quickly but there was a long line wrapping around the mall walkway. Once inside we got the backend of a line to enter the lego sections. We opt to take a family photo first and then enter which helped with congestion, but it was arm-to-arm people. You can purchase tickets on your way out, they have them hung on the shelf ready and printed. The first lego area is a display of downtown San Antonio, which is pretty cool to see. Moving on you enter the main lego floor which houses the play center, ride, cafe, kids corner, creative workshop, and misc lego spots. With the number of people, it felt very dirty. I did allow the kids to build and play but the amount of germs in this place is going to be high - almost to be expected with the types of activities offered. There is no FastPass or beat the line and with that, you will wait. My husband looked after the kids while I got into the cafe line which was already half as long as the entire room. After a 20 minute wait, I barely moved a few feet. I gave up and went to enjoy the family. They have a movie on a loop but the line for that was also long. The ride was long and wrapped around to the entrance. Depending on the day of the week and time expect a long wait for everything. After an hour or so of fighting the crowd we left. It was very disappointing the second time. Legoland is popular but they should limit the number of guests to allow people to fully enjoy the experience. If you have never gone, I would suggest giving it a try but look at the dates/time they are less busy probably a weekend during school hours. read more

I've been to the main legoland in California and the mini legoland in a Boston shopping ctr. This is a mini shopping ctr one. In fact, it's inside Riverpark /river walk mall. I recommend paring in the Commerce street garage ($15-20 for 4-5 hrs parking) and going to floor A. It's right by those doors next to Sealife. If you buy the combo ticket, you must visit legoland first before the aquarium. It's not an option to choose which you want to see first. Anyway, it's small with a small cafe with latte and snacks. Smaller than the Boston legoland. There are 2 rides included and a 4d movie which thru should but did t give anyone glasses to wear. They do spray viewers with water so just a heads up. There's a 3rd rude that requires extra fee. The play gym area requires socks. You can buy them at the cafe for $1. Overall kids were entertained for about 2 hrs. Souvenir pics are $35. My child and I went to San Antonio to visit a family member, who recently moved there. I literally Googled "things to do in San Antonio with kids," and this place showed up. We love Legoland in California, so we thought we would give this place a try. I purchased discount tickets through the AAA website and got them immediately. It was eighty something dollars for two adult tickets and a child ticket, but it included entrance to Sea Life, too. (For the price, this was worth it.) They don't allow food or beverages in, so we had to down our Starbucks before entering. Once scanned and inside, you take an elevator to the actual center. When you exit, they take your photo, which you can purchase at the end before you go back in the elevator. After the photo, you walk into the Lego 'Miniland' area where they have built San Antonio basically. It's cute. They turn the lights down every so often, so the city lights up. There are also a few things for the kids to press or move, and they had a spring display for the spring season. After this area, you get to the main part of the center. A Lego character comes out occasionally, and people loved this. There are two rides, and one was down for maintenance or something. The one open was a ride where you peddled to go higher - like Dumbo at Disneyland, but peddling instead of a lever. The line never got too long. There is a virtual experience my child did not was to do, but the line was always long as they clean the station after each use. They have a 4D movie theater that shows little shorts. The one was saw was Ninjago. It was simple but fun for the kids. There are four build areas - a Friends cityscape, a vehicle building area with ramps, a shake board to see if your Legos can withstand a shake, and big brick sized area for the littlest ones. My child loved the Friends cityscape area, because it was the simplest Legos and can build whatever you'd like and can even add it to the cityscape if you choose to do so. They have a small cafe area, but we didn't check it out, nor did we check out the little playground. The best part of the is place is the class they have about every half hour. They teach you how to build something, and we learned how to make a cow out of Legos. My child really enjoyed this. Overall, you can definitely spend a couple hours here, but it definitely doesn't have enough to spend a whole day here. read more

I'm from California, but I never went to Legoland near San Diego. My wife and I decided to take the kids to this one, which is inside the River Center Mall. Once you enter, you go up the elevated to where the Legoland section is. Once there, you stop by the photo booth before getting in line for the "ride". I was surprised there was a ride in the first place, but it is very short, so don't expect too much from it. After the ride, the path leads you to a Lego version of San Antonio. This was nice to see, but a lot of the buttons to make it do extra things were not working. After this Lego San Antonio, you are led to the last area, where it's a free for all for the kids. There are many Lego stations and a jungle gym area. Most of the stations were missing a lot of pieces so our kids got bored of running to each station only to find out there aren't enough pieces to make anything, or some other group had the pieces. Overall, the kids were tired out, which I guess was the intended end result, but it wasn't really worth it for the price. read more

Visited Legoland Discovery April 2. I was visiting from out of town and looking for things to do with a 6 year old. I was not anticipating to spend a lot of time here and really didn't. We spent 2 hours total and that is with eating. We had to set a time for check in, which we checked in at 11:30, but then still had to wait 30 minutes in line to get in. I was surprised the location was in the mall too. They do not have a storage area for lockers or pursues. So be ready to carry or tote what you bring. Once we got checked in, some people take photos which we didn't. Cause there was another line to take a photo and we were over it. We went in and you enter a room with legos of San Antonio. It is pretty well done with the Riverwalk, hotels and Tower of Americas. They dim the lights occasionally and all the lights within the legos are set on. Very cool. Once you are done looking at that, you walk into the main room with the attractions. They offer a virtual reality ride, but you have to be 6 and over. Did not want to spend time on it. It was also an extra $5 per person over the admission price. They have a jungle gym type area for kids to run in, a couple areas to build lego cars and test them, a small slide, bathrooms, and area to eat, 2 rides and a 4d theatre. The movie was super weird and boring. My son enjoyed it, but I sat under one of the water sprayers and my entire dress was soaked on one side. They have a ride that you go in a sleigh and it goes up and down in circles, but to make it go up you have to physically pedal. Oh man, my butt was really sore after that ride. We only went once, cause I didn't want to pedal anymore. LOL. The other ride is a car that takes you a long to shoot things and get points which was kind cool. They are super crazy about cell phones in there though. Like don't even try to take a selfie of you and your kid on the ride or the overhead blaster going to be calling you out. Damn. We ate pizza at the cafeteria and they brought out a pizza that was black from being burned. I told them that my son would not eat that and asked them to recook it. Mind you, the pizzas looked like 99 cent store flat pizzas. Nasty pizzas and they burned it. Prob to disguise the flavor. They re-cooked it and I swear it looked the same, but I convinced my kid to eat it. My family had a great time today. It was fun to build our own things, the kids loved the rides. It was nice for us adults to be able to ride one of the rides as well. Staff was super friendly, tons of hand sanitizing stations. Price was very fair for what it was worth. The VR ride did cost extra though: $5 per person so we skipped that. We were in love with the lego space that was decorated like San Antonio. We got to see it when it was sunny and when it was "night". Super cool to watch the buildings light up, fireworks go off, etc. The precision an detail that went into that area was one in a million. Overall great family outing. The best ride (of the two there) wasn't even working. We then stood in line for 40 mins to ride the other ride that lasted a whopping minute. I booked combo tickets online for this and Sea Life next door. The fine print was you go to Legoland first and then Sea Life within the next 14 days, so here I was. Legoland is for kids. Young kids... probably up to the pre-teen years maximum... or for people who REALLY love LEGOs (but even then, if you're an adult, it's probably good for an hour or less - they DO have events for adults only though, for those who love LEGOs but have no kids). It wasn't very crowded on Thursday morning so I liked that a lot. There are sections with a padded, multilevel (maybe just 2?) play area, which my 5 year old could play in, but not my 22 month old. Multiple lego buildings/figures you can take pictures with. A room with lego city/buildings/people. A ride for kids above a certain height... but you need an adult with you. Have no fear! Because I couldn't join my daughter, they called for another employee to sit with her. Awesome! I hear there's another ride but we didn't get to go on it; they were on a lunch break and my youngest was about to have a mental breakdown so we ended up leaving. We were told that we might be able to nip on over when we see Sea Life just to ride the ride we missed, but we'll see if they'll allow it when the time comes. There's a room where you're guided to make a figurine out of LEGO s. You do NOT get to keep it. I wish you could. My daughter sat down for it but it was a little over her head and she was tired; we left after maybe 5 minutes. That's good for older kids; I was also a little interested but couldn't really partake. There are also areas where you can build your own lego car and test it on the track, etc. My youngest enjoyed the Duplo section. It's small and not that many Duplo pieces to play with, but they do have giant Legos made out of some sort of rubber-like material. My kid loves stairs and once he got the hang of it, he loved the steps that lead into a small tube slide. He also loved the steps to get to the top of the testing ramps and the ramp itself. There's a 4D theatre but we didn't manage to make a showing. My 5 year old was interested but it's not suitable for babies so perhaps it's for the best. We had 3 minutes till the next showing so decided to wait, but the time came and went - no announcements were made! You do get your photos taken that you can purchase. $34 plus tax for the folder set with 2 large photos. There's also a little cafe inside. The whole place is on the small side. The elevator ride up, then pictures, then the city room, and into the main room where everything is open concept but has designated areas. My kids enjoyed it - mainly the areas suited for their age. There are staff members who are helpful but mainly when you ask. The only time they initiated something was when my youngest was climbing up a ramp. They get major kudos points for having someone go on the ride with my kid when I couldn't get on with her. However, I feel like the movie thing could have been better communicated. And I wish rides (there are only two) didn't have to close. It is a little on the pricey side depending on what you get out of it. It's essentially a play/discovery area. Good for an hour or three, but certainly not a full day thing. Three-and-a-half stars (rounded up to four) because my kids did overall enjoy it while we were there, despite a handful of disappointments (movie, ride). As a note: no outside food or drinks allowed, which I do understand. My favorite thing about this place is how well organized it is. After you get your ticket scanned they tell you to follow paws into an elevator where you are greeted and given some instructions. Follow the paws off the elevator and you get your picture taken and are in line for the first ride. It is kind of like boarding a cruise which is great when you have impatient kids waiting to get at the LEGOs. Directing everyone into a line keeps things flowing and prevents congestion. After the ride, you are directed into a mini San Antonio done completely with LEGOs! Not only is the whole this very impressive (don't miss the LEGO Alamo) there are interactive things in almost every area of it which my son loved. Next, you head into the LEGO room! There is plenty to do here including a Starbucks Caffe for Mama! Nice touch! There are lots of building stations, a DUPLO one for the littles, a jungle gym, a movie theatre, a car racing track, building class AND another ride!! We loved that one so much that we went on it twice. Staff is darling and really does a great job with the chaos of so many kids running around. I loved that there was hand sanitizer stations everywhere! We spend close to 3 hours in here and easily could've done more. We visited this Lego land location back in September. I was shocked by how dirty it was. We were there on a Tuesday afternoon, definitely not a busy time. It has clearly been in serious need of cleaning for a while. The San Antonio "mini land" was super cute. It was really dirty too but that didn't bother me as much as seeing the filth where my children were actually playing. The building tables were caked with grime, the climbing structure had piles of who knows what under and around them and there were drifts of hair and dust around some of the statues. If no one is cleaning up the obvious stuff like this, I can't help but feel like none of the touch surfaces are being sanitized either. I will say that I reached out to the customer service and they were quick to respond. They said it would be addressed. The staff was all very friendly. They got an extra star for those reasons. LEGOLAND Discovery Center is a fun new indoor kids' play space at the Shops at Rivercenter in downtown San Antonio. We went to preview weekend and had a great time; the kids wanted to stay longer. Expect to pay for parking. There are two garages at Rivercenter, and LEGOLAND will validate two hours. The Convention Center parking garage is nearby. The entrance to LEGOLAND is on street level, near Alamo Plaza. The LEGO store is also on street level. Once you buy or show your tickets, you ride an elevator up to where the attractions are. The recommended ages are 3-10. Younger than 3, it would be a challenge keeping small pieces out of mouths. Teens will find things to do, too, as long as they don't mind being around younger children. Adults must come with children, except on adults-only nights that happen once a month We loved the San Antonio landmarks in Miniland, created by a LEGO master model builder. LEGOLAND also has two rides, and adults can ride with their kids. There is a classroom for LEGO building workshops. There are private rooms for birthday parties. There is a cafe on site. There is a climbing area with tubes -- socks required, and there are height restrictions. The area for building and testing cars was a favorite for my kids. My daughter liked the LEGO Friends area, too. We are excited for LEGOLAND Discovery Center coming to San Antonio. We expect it will be popular with both tourists and locals. It's likely we will be going back often, but being strategic to avoid crowds. read more

My daughter is 4 years old and loved Legoland. I do think younger children will enjoy this location the most. The model of San Antonio was so neat, and building your own car to race down a track was also fun, the ride was her favorite thing of all she was too short but I pedaled us both and it moved the singular cart we were in up and down in the air. The movie was neat however expect to get wet and it's cold in there. The restaurant didn't have much choices to drink or snack was minimal, but there in case you needed something. She did enjoy the Master builders lego class and I had a great time, I was sad the gift shop didn't have near the kits or merchandise I was expecting and I think our local mall Lego store was better stocked. It was Spring Break for our 7 year old and he loves Legos! So we wanted to do something for him while he was out of school. We brought him to Legoland in the Mall that is located right by the River Walk and the Alamo in San Antonio. It is located inside which is good because it was cool outside! My wife got tickets ahead of time online so there wasn't any wait to get in. There are many things to do once you get in. They have Lego rides, there is a Lego animated movie that is supposed to be 4D but no one was handed out any glasses to enhance the experience. But it did have water that mist over you during scenes where there was water splashing!. They had all kinds of displays made of Legos from Dragon's, Clock Tower's, to an entire diorama of downtown San Antonio made out of Legos that would change from day to night and all the buildings would light up in the night mode!!! The San Antonio Riverwalk was also included in this diorama! It was very detailed and they also had the Alamo in the diorama also. There were also other dioramas that included all of the old Spanish Missions made of Legos! There are many work stations that kids can go to to assemble their creations made into buildings or wheeled vehicles that they can race against others!!! There were many other displays made of Legos and walls made of the Lego Dots that were really very cool looking! If your kids are into Legos they will love this place!!! While I heard it's not near as big as the one in Florida, it's still plenty big for kids to have a blast here!! Ours enjoyed his time here thoroughly!!! I would highly recommend it if you have young ones who are infatuated with Legos. They will have a good time! read more
