I attended an event at the zoo put on my Big Brothers Big Sisters and we were able to ride the train. My Little had never ridden the train so we hopped on for a ride. The ride is about 20 minutes on a miniature version of an amtrak train. Each train is painted a different bright color and it winds its way around the park. The train is slow enough that small kids can enjoy it, but my teenager was done a few minutes in. Overall, we can say we did the train ride and got to see some nice views of local nature.

My daughters are a bit older now, but they still enjoy trains. Especially when they see the tracks and depot and know one exists. For some reason, on probably one of the busiest days in May (5.25.2025) the San Antonio Zoo Eagle Train Ride was completely shut down. It's not a super long walk, but no signage was left at the main entrance indicating this. Crossing two relatively busy streets with mindless drivers is necessary to get to the depot. Cool tiger painting on the building near the cafe area, though.

Rhetta was an amazing conductor and guide. The ride is a lot longer than you would think, so enjoy it while you're on. We made three stops, Witte, Mulberry St, and Japanese Tea Gardens. It's not a hop on, hop off, but you can get off at any of the stops. It's always fun to ride on, once in a while...and today was an amazing day to enjoy Brackenridge Park.

Love the train rides in Brackenridge Park. Friendly staff and only 1 train operating, so it's a bit of a wait. You can get off the train at 2 different areas and then get back on if you choose. Gift shops have popcorn and Icees that will take you back in time to childhood days. Souvenirs are plentiful in the gift shop. They also have a Starbucks in case you prefer coffee, tea or pink drinks.

Train is different but then again I haven't been on this little train in years! Just a beautiful little scene to do for just 7$.

We love everything about this train ride especially going during the week when it's dead! A fun thing to do with the kiddos

We were looking to have a great morning walking in a park, and we ended here. The weather on the 60's is amazing, and the nature is beautiful. Big old trees, pecan trees, squirrels, ducks, cardinals... you can see many things on your ride. Kids under 2 don't pay, if you come with a stroller you can park it outside. Entrance is on the gift shop, that is walking distance from the Zoo. If you come to the Zoo, get the ride first, you can even grab a drink from the Starbucks next to it, and ride along with it. The ride last from 10-15 min and you get to see the beautiful place, cross by bridge and pass by a tunnel. We decided to walk a little bit after, there are picnic tables and some have grills. Grab lunch and come and spend some time seating at this beautiful place after the train ride.

My kids were SO excited to come on this train ride and it didn't disappoint! What a fabulous family friendly excursion. Under 3 are free. Everyone else is only $4! You can get on & off at Doseum & Witte Museum also. The train takes you on a fun tour of Breckinridge Park. My 6 year olds favorite part was the tunnel although my 2 year old was scared. You can get popcorn & snacks in the Depot. It took about 20 minutes. I highly recommend this activity for kids of all ages!

Cute little train ride through the park, nothing super cool to see but fun little ride. Everyone loved the tunnel though!

Would I drive hours just to visit this zoo? No--but honestly, I wouldn't do that for most zoos, other than maybe the Omaha Zoo. The zoo has always been clean and well kept every time we've visited. We usually go first thing when it opens, and it's never been too busy--except for one time when we accidentally went on a school field trip day, which was... a lot! There is a small kangaroo area you can pay extra to enter, where you can get up close, pet them if they allow it, and take photos. My 13-year-old son thought this was really cool, and honestly, I did too. My toddler especially enjoys the small indoor aquarium area. Overall, it's a great, easy place to spend an hour or two.

And then trying to find the small AC area already packed with screaming kids that become road blocks as you try and see their awesome alligator snapping turtle in a way to small enclosure. I have been coming here since the mid 80s, and feel little has changed aside from revamping old into new exhibits. The gorillas are back from an absence of I forgot how long. The aquarium needs a facelift, as well as the reptile house. I avoid eating here since it is worse than high school cafeteria fare. Prices could be better adjusted to the income of the populace to at least enjoy some of the fantastic rare creatures they house. I still will come though for I do like seeing one of the only zoos' that has a pair of Tomistoma schlegelii and an Orinoco crocodile. Bring back the mini boat ride!

First, I was a tad disappointed in the quantity of the animals out there. There were long stretches of the drive where I caught myself thinking, " there's nothing out here". Second, don't bother buying feed. A lot of the animals were more interested in food provided in their troughs than the passing vehicles. And, I have a feeling they're fed well enough ...they don't care if you're throwing food. Third, cars tend to bottleneck to look at NOTHING. I think the staff should do a better job explaining you can pass. At least I hope you can, because I did. I wasn't waiting for some of these people. Other than that, I thought the facilities themselves were clean, well lit, and impressive. They've got a great restaurant where you can have lunch (although I felt the prices were exorbitant as they often are with these "tourist traps"). They've got some great exhibits with monkeys and you can get pretty darn close to some giraffes. My little girl had a particularly good time in the aviary. Seeing her face as that bird landed on her stick was just the best. Solid gift shop. Overall, felt the cost was higher than necessary, but solid family outing. It's worth going.

However, when we asked for a paper agreement to hold the date, she said they "didn't usually do them." When we insisted that for a corporate event with lots of money on the line (our entire booth is supposed to be themed around the sloth), we needed at least SOME kind of agreement and deposit in place, she promised multiple times across two phone calls to send us something...but never did. Two different members of our team tried patiently to follow up with her for OVER THREE WEEKS via email, phone, and text message. We didn't even get the courtesy of a simple message back saying she couldn't do it, and frankly, it left us in a difficult position and created reputation risk for us with other vendors. I absolutely cannot recommend this mobile zoo if you need someone reliable for your event, and candidly, the lack of responsiveness we received is hard NOT to perceive as extremely rude. It's sad, too -- a member of our team apparently saw this zoo present at a different event and said it was good. But how would you even know they were going to show up? I see they have lots of good reviews, but they all seem to be old. I can only guess they must be missing whatever management they used to have. All around just a huge bummer.

While some of that debate may still exist, I was pleasantly surprised by how much there actually is to do & how fun & engaging the scheduled shows are. SeaWorld ended up being an absolute blast for me & my family! There was so much going on that it was hard to know where to begin. We went to the beluga & Pacific white-sided dolphin experience, then the sea lion talk where we watched the sea lions dance & do tricks, which was really fun. One of the highlights was the Imagine Ocean puppet experience. It was a glow in the dark, super immersive, & honestly magical experience for me & my kids. We also went to the orca encounter, which was such a delight. They have splash zones & it was hilarious watching the killer whales jump & flip in the air while the crowd got unexpectedly soaked at certain moments of the show. Also be aware, if you plan on sitting in the "splash zones" during the whale, dolphin, or sea lion shows, I suggest wearing a bathing suit under your clothes & bringing a small towel because you will get soaked depending how close you are sitting in the front. However, the splash zones are clearly labeled on the seat backs so you will know whether you are considered within range of getting wet to determine whether that's a good fit for you. We sat in the splash zone on our first orca experience but farthest back of the splash zone & still got a good soak, but the folks down at the front were drenched in water. When it's a hot day that sounds refreshing, today when we went it got quite windy & cold toward the evening so we opted to steer clear of any & all splash zones. They have a huge playground area for kids, which I'd estimate is great for children under about age 12, plus a separate playground for the younger little ones. There is a wide variety of food options like ice cream, burgers, cupcakes, & carbonated drinks. I would describe the food as pretty mediocre, & it is definitely expensive. You are allowed to bring water bottles into the park but no outside food or drinks. We brought my daughter's sippy cup with milk & a backpack & no one questioned it. I definitely recommend bringing a backpack so you have somewhere to keep your belongings, although the park does offer lockers near the entrance if you do opt to store your stuff. I also suggest downloading the SeaWorld app. It's super helpful & easy to use as it gives you up to the minute daily schedules of what events & shows are happening by the hour. There was also a plethora of rollercoaster rides for those who enjoy a thrill! Even though we did not ride any of the roller coasters this visit, it was still fun watching people climb up the massive tracks before the big drop & hearing everyone scream with excitement as they flew past. The way the park is laid out puts you pretty close to many of the rides, so you get a great view of them even if you are not riding. If you think you will go to SeaWorld at least twice a year, I would suggest going with the annual pass. More bang for your buck. A single day pass starts at $50 & goes up from there depending if you add a dining experience to your day pass. Right now during spring break you can get the basic adult annual pass for $99, which includes access to their aquatic park. Kids under 5 are currently offered free annual park passes. We grabbed two for our kids. The free kid passes do not include the aquatic section like the adult pass does, but you can add that for roughly $39.99 per child before taxes, which is still very reasonable. With the basic annual pass you do not have to pay for parking, & there are higher membership tiers that include dining & merchandise discounts that may be worth the cost depending on how much you plan to eat inside the park because the cost of food & drinks add up quickly. For example, we bought one electrolyte drink like a Powerade & it was about $9. A small Dippin' Dots ice cream cup came out to almost $15 after tax & tip. Something else to know is that every time you check out at a register there is a tipping option. I usually tip because I worked in the service industry before so I have a soft spot, but I can understand how it might feel excessive when every single purchase asks for a tip, even when someone is just ringing you up for a drink. My advice is to eat before you arrive so you are not relying too heavily on park food. Also definitely bring your water bottle. Overall it was an amazing experience, especially for the kids. They were thrilled by the whale, dolphin, & sea lion shows. It was entertaining for the adults too. We laughed a lot & had a great day. Giving SeaWorld 4 stars because the cost of food & drinks is egregiously expensive when you take into account tipping for every purchase. Costs add up quickly even with having a pass. That said, we will definitely be back.
