There's even swings and a playground for the two legged puppers. I came to add some books to the free little library. I was amazed at how clean and well kept the grounds were. Visitors really stay on top of their dogs. I didn't see a single pile. Or maybe all the dogs just become like those kids who get too caught up in playing to take a bio break.

Love this place!! My…read moredog has a place in the city where she can walk around and explore off-leash. She is not very playful, and pretty shy/introverted, but the other dogs are usually friendly and we don't really have any issues. I'm kind of annoyed that they're doing construction at Lasalle park now. The barkyard wasn't perfect, it was essentially just a fenced in patch of grass with some benches, a water fountain and a few trees, but that's really all you need. I'm not sure how long it'll be closed for construction, but i hope it turns out well!! They currently have a temporary dog park nearby, but it kinda sucks. Anyways, the barkyard is (was) usually calm, quiet and clean. Grass was moderately maintained and people picked up their dog poop for the most part. I also love that its in the city, where there arent a lot of places for my dog to run around elsewhere. Yeah, 5 stars! Hopefully it opens up again soon!

The Barkyard is essentially functional for what it's meant to do: give you a place to run and…read moresocialize, respectively, your under- or over-thirty-pound dogs so that they go to sleep when you get home and you get some peace. Or maybe that's just me. There's a sort of airlock front entrance and then two large, fenced-in areas based upon the size of your dog. Water pumps are provided and the fencing is tall and well-maintained enough around the perimeter, so unless you have an insane climber or jumper, your pup should be securely contained. The groundskeepers do basically the bare minimum, so while the grass stays cut, some occasional filling in of the holes the dogs dig would be appreciated. Caveat emptor, and all that, lest you break an ankle. The extra bag station is often empty when it is not littered with used bags by people too stupid to follow instructions. The latter point is worth expanding. People at the Barkyard are typically cool, and you'll make friends with the other childless misfits you gravitate towards when you eschew human offspring. But there's the rub: there's no budget for a lifeguard here, so compliance with the rules is all voluntary, and at least 30% of the people there feel that they are at liberty to exempt themselves. You want to run your big dog on the little dog side because he's "gentle"? Sure--what could go wrong? You want to bring your unfixed akita and then ignore him while he gets in fights? Just dogs being dogs! This is all true of humans with human children as well, I suppose. In fact, I know, because people there break those rules, too, letting small children run around despite written instructions to the contrary, leaving you to have to make sure that your dog doesn't get too close to their precious angel darlings, the latter of whom are, of course, not supposed to be there. Short version: it's fun and free but you have to deal with illiterate or obstinate humans. I guess that's free stuff for you? Parking is usually abundant unless there's a lot of baseball going on at the adjacent diamonds. There's a portable outhouse. Bring a jacket if it's borderline--it's 5-10 degrees cooler, as the park is right on the river.

Since I don't have a fenced yard, I thought this might be a good exercise outlet. We usually just go for leashed walks down our street. This turned out to be a wonderful social time, as well. A little muddy due to the recent rains. Should be better as the hot summer approaches. Benches to sit, bags to pick up waste, and separate yards for big vs smaller size dogs. Seems most patrons are mindful and look after their dogs and pick up waste. It was quite clean. I think we will bring Poppy here more often!

I decided to bring my little man here to let him run around. This park is WAYYYY smaller and also muddy. It wasn't TOO bad because we avoided the muddy areas but nonetheless both areas were still pretty muddy. The park is split into a big dog area and a small dog area. There was nobody there when we went so I just let my pup run around in the big dog area. The small dog area was completely muddy.

There are indoor spaces, outdoor spaces, and a bar. What more could you ask for? The staff here is really great. They are super friendly and seem to know a lot of the customers (and dogs) by name. So there must be a lot of regulars. The bar has a variety of options for beer and wine. They also have a lot of non-alcoholic options too. The TVs were all on with the Olympics which was great to have while watching the pups run around and play. I really enjoyed my time here and it's a great way to get your dogs to socialize in a nice, relaxed space with plenty to do whether your a dog or a human!

This play area for dogs is clean, well taken care of and spacious. The park includes a couple of large fenced in spaces- one for small dogs and one for large dogs . There are also a couple of separate , smaller play spaces that are connected but fenced off from the larger areas . Being my first time , I took my dog in to one of the smaller ,private areas where she was able to see and play along side with other dogs , but with a fence between them , she loved it . The smaller sectioned off areas are also a good size for dogs to run and get exercise . There are stations with bags for clean up , there is a hand sanitizer station and lastly a water fountain that is dog height as well as one that is people height . This is one of those spots that I'd almost prefer to keep quiet about , but all dogs deserve a visit .

Unless someone told you about it...you would never know its there. White Spruce Leash Free is a public park that is open to everyone. It's wide open expanse with segregated areas for the general dog public and the small or timid breeds. Picnic tables, covered benches, blue garbage bins pepper the park. A beautiful white spruce tree is the visual and social focal point of the park. The regulars at this park are friendly and most watch their dogs like they watch their children, unlike some parks in the Brampton area. A great place to unwind with your four legged family member. A five star park for me!!

There looks like a small wading pool open in the summertime, and also love that this is right in a cute little neighborhood. No parking but folks didn't seem to mind/have trouble parking.
