This park is wonderful for bird watching & has both wide smooth stone paths and wooded hiking paths. It's well maintained and if you're up for a hike you can walk along the path upstream and emerge at Glenn Park - short walk on paved trails along the falls to Main Street in williamsville- then you can eat at a delicious meal at a place like the Glenn Park Tavern (my next review) :) read more

Recently went here after reading some other reviews. A quite expansive park and while it does have some nice expansive areas with nothing but some young Trees growing, the trails do leave some wanting more. There's a wooden bridge over a small creek, but if there's something else to see or do, I'd like to know! Otherwise, if you need a spot to do a serious run or walk, this is the place to do it!!! read more

I came here in our recent warm spell. Later in the day than I used to come. It was a lovely walk. No deer were visible anymore, probably too late for them. The parking lot is large and easy, even with the new apartments they put up about a year ago. They have kept the path well maintained and groomed. This park is great! There are so many paths and hidden corners to explore, depending on how you're prepared for the weather and the season. Proper footwear is the key to a comfortable and successful little adventure. During spring, some areas can be muddy with a lot of wetlands and vernal ponds. No, it's not supposed to be a dog park, although pets are allowed to visit to enjoy. I don't mind sharing the space with loose running dogs, just please don't let your furry friend bark at me (especially big ones) or jump on me when they're wet or covered with an inch of dirt. The leash rule is clear, but the big open space is tempting for a bit of the wild and playful side. Definitely check the map to be sure to enjoy as much as possible around the area. The official website names eight trails, but it's up to you where you leave your footprints. Like I said, it's a big playground and can all be off the leash. read more

We come to this park to get our steps in and to walk our pup. This place is a godsend due to the limited parks in the area, and especially those that allow dogs. The parking is limited but fortunately this place isnt too crowded. That being said, we appreciate it when dogs are on their leash as is clearly mentioned on signs all over the park. There are a lot of beautiful views in this park and we always get to see deer. That being said, there are a lot of ticks so consider that when you let your pets wander off into the bushes. read more

This was my first time here. This park is relaxing. It's an 80-acre Park partially in the village of Williamsville with most of it falling in Amherst on land formerly belonging to the Sisters of St. Francis. I went on a whim after finding out that a friend went here earlier in the day. It's a really great park that is well-kept and clean. There are many beautiful trees. There were a few fishermen fishing in the lovely waters of Ellicott Creek. Everyone I encountered was very friendly. I started by the former convent which is now an assistant living center. I walked awhile to the end well past the creek and back towards it and then up the stairs to the parking lot. I've heard that it's attached to trails at Glen Park but I don't know where it attaches to Glen Park so I'll have to come back and meander some more. read more

This is the perfect little park to bring your four legged friend. There are a couple paths, and just wide open space. There are also apple trees. The space is very clean and well kept. There are so many people on the paths, enjoying the outdoors and walking their dogs. There are some people that don't use a leash though, and it is a place where you should leash your pets. That part, didn't really like. I don't need to feel edgy walking my dog on a leash because you decide it's okay to not have your dog on a leash. read more

One of my very favorite parks!!! It's a hidden gem right near the bustle of life. Beautiful natural walking trails in the middle of the woods, but it's a pretty easy hike that you can do in about 25 minutes. They have gorgeous apple trees with the backdrop of the old convent, bridges, so much to explore. Such an amazing park. You can enter at the Glen Falls area or you can enter near the old convent. What I love about it is if you can stay on the trail along the creek, you can walk off the main trail, there's a beautiful field. Lots of people bring their dogs and take them off leash. So much space, never too crowded. It's always different each time you go. Get there now! read more

HUMAN VERSION OF REVIEW: This is the park that's behind Glen Park / Falls (http://www.yelp.com/biz/glen-park-williamsville-2). You can even supposedly follow some trails and end up in the other park and vice versa. This is an also an unofficial dog park of sorts. Almost everyone walking here is with a dog. You must have your dog leashed when you're here, although every now and then you'll see some roaming free (although I hear they're going to crack down on that soon). That's too bad. I wish they wouldn't. I like seeing animals run free. There are quite a few adventures to be had here. There's water flowing through the park so sometimes you'll pass and see someone fishing or dogs swimming (although the current seems pretty strong, so be careful dogs!). I went most recently with a friend and a dog and it was a bit muddy (start of the Spring season), but I'll be happy to return when it's less soggy and more sunny. The dog seemed really happy to be there though. DOG VERSION OF REVIEW: "I got to run around, swim in the water and poop! I even got to smell another dog's butt! Make that two dogs butts! I was just sitting at home all alone lonely and bored, when all of a sudden this AWESOME HUMAN BEING WOOF took me in their car and brought me to this park. I ran, I swam and I conquered! The humans were afraid to follow me in the mud, WOOF! I wish this park had more toys and squirrels!! Where were the squirrels and SNACKS?! I needed to chase, chase, chase but there was nothing to chase! I wanted to chase the other dog, but I decided to instead sniff her butt! WOOF! This park is incredibly nice. I've started to make a habit of bringing my dog here a couple of times a month to get her out of our usual neighborhood walk routine, let her get used to different smells and socializing with other dogs. I've noticed that a lot of people bring their dogs here, who can blame them? With the creek water rushing by, it's a perfect cool-down spot for friendly puppies. And I'll suggest you only bring your dog if he or she is dog and human friendly, as there are plenty of other people wanting to enjoy the park as well. Most dog owners I've met have always been very considerate, either keep their dogs on leash or under good control off-leash. There are signs that say to keep your pet on a leash and pick up after them, however. I know I always clean up after my pup when we're in public, but she did find some stinky land mines that some people didn't have the decency to clean up. And when we're near the water, surrounded by heavy foliage and not bothering anybody else...well I'm not trudging through the rushing water with her. I've met and talked with a couple of great people while our dogs played and had fun, but this park is really cool for doing a little hiking too. I've also noticed people often go fishing in the area. Sorry that our dogs scare away all the fish, though. All in all, it's really a great place to get away from it all for a while, and the best part is how close by it is. Small place to walk around. Nice that it's dog friendly, however the trails make it out to be much larger than it is. Also, they aren't labeled. Easily walked the entire park in an hour. Probably good for small kids/families. Was nice, but don't think I'd go back again except maybe to check out in the winter. read more

One of my happy places in the Buffalo area and Tula agrees! I've been visiting Amherst State Park since I moved here from SoCal. Then, it was a great park to take Tula for a walk when she was a puppy. Today, she is a dog and she is still loves the park. I adore the seasons changes and you can fully appreciate them at this location. In a recent visit, we took the time to smell the wild flowers of WNY. Additionally, it's a park in which you can see people and still walk safely there - physically distant - in the age of Covid. I elect to wear my mask on the path but if one gets off the beaten path, one can move away from the crowds, remove one's mask, and find some hidden spots. We will visit again in the winter. Really surprised this is considered a "dog park", I've never seen mention of that any time I've been here. The park is basically a trail through a field, that passes along a creek, then through another field, then into a wooded area. There's some interesting "ruins" in the wooded area. Good place for a walk but not too scenic compared to other parks in the area. The park is well maintained though. Also, two of the times we've been, part of the path was inaccessible due to the ground being too muddy, so we were only here for less than 30 minutes. Check out if you have a dog (I guess?) or if you've never been, but don't expect many photo opportunities. read more

This park is a hidden gem in Williamsville! I usually park near the falls just off of Glen Ave. You can follow the whole creek from Glen Falls all the way to St. Mary's Apartments and you can loop on the other side of the creek, if you'd like. If there has been rain in the past day or two, you might want to make sure you have waterproof boots or shoes! The paths are pretty noticeable. Not necessarily marked, but you can follow the paths of others. There are also a ton of offshoots or wide paths, if you need to keep a distance from others. I have gone here a number of times in the past two weeks, mainly to find all the migrating warblers. I found a TON here as did the other birders. You'll see tons of friendly birders here all morning long. But as migration season closes, I probably won't be visiting here as much, unfortunately. We'll see... it's close to my house and it's a nice creek with tons of shade and trees to keep you cool! read more

This is a good place to experience nature. No road noise, just the sound of running water courtesy of Ellicott Creek. There are two short paths, and one longer path that leads to Glen Park. I wish you didn't have to double back. Going by the map, the potential to create a loop is there. While the trails are too short to hold my interest, there's places where people set up chairs to relax by the creek. I saw a few squirrels and played hide and seek with a chipmunk. Sadly, I saw a lot of litter, too. It's a great park with a lot of potential. Treat it kindly. read more

I really love this place, and it's got a special and unique kind of flavor to it from other local parks. The location is sort of hidden, attached to the trails at Glen Park and accessible through a parking lot in the back of an older apartment complex. Nonetheless, there are loads of trails here, golfing, and wonderful views of the creek. Many people fish here and spend time enjoying the trails all over. Recently, the trails were finished and now they're more accessible and far less muddy so it's a park for all to enjoy. I particularly love going off the paved trail and exploring the dirt trails running along or nearby the creek and seeing all the birds and other animals that live here. The larger open part of the park contains an old apple orchard which is kind of unique and a throwback to a past time and place. read more

Great park close to Main St. When here you forget how close you are to civilization. There are some great trails by the water and some great fishing spots. I brought my dog and even though I know I am not suppose to I let him off his leash, just for a little while. We were deep in the trails with tall grass all around us and running water. I didn't think it would be an issue and I am happy to say it wasn't. My dog had a blast! I haven't seen him that happy in a long, long time. Some trails were very muddy, because it has been raining a lot in the pass days. I can't wait to come back mud or not this is a great hiking park! read more

I have lived in Buffalo, NY my entire life and never knew about this park. I ventured out onto the trail that was in the wooded area at Glen Falls Park today and took the trail all the way to Amherst State Park. The park was nicely maintained; the lawn was cut and the bridge that connected the trails was nicely designed. There were no signs that helped to figure out where you were. And for a park, it would have been nice to see some picnic tables or a gazebo for sitting under. Instead, all we could see was a large plot of land with some random trees. It was a beautiful day for a walk and again, I was not expecting to see this park, but had I not asked a fellow walker, I would have had no idea where I was. I only saw one sign and that was when I reached the parking lot of the park. I would return to the park now that I know where it is. read more

I actually feel a little stupid for not knowing this place was even here because this place is amazing! After taking a drive to Dog Island and seeing that it's being worked on, we decided to take a trip here and check it out. Unlike Dog Island or Knox Farm this is an "on leash" type of park where technically the dogs are supposed to be kept close to you on a leash. When we started walking around the first thing I was surprised by was just how big the park was. It had a bunch of trails and loads of water for the dogs to run through and drink when they feel its needed. After seeing a few dogs off leash we let our little guys run around a little bit and everyone who was there seemed to be having a good time. I'm excited to come back here and explore some more in the next few weeks. A+ Park! read more

People - this park is a gem. It has beautiful old orchards, wide open spaces, forested paths and a lovely creek. The down side is unleashed dogs. I was there today with my dog, on leash, when 2 unleashed golden retrievers ran up on us. The owners had no recall ability and took an inordinate amount of time trying to get control of their dogs. Luckily, mine is trained and did not react. This could have gone very wrong. Please keep your dogs on leash and let everyone enjoy this park. read more

This is an awesome place to do a little mini hike/walk. The path from mill leads along the creek to a little apple orchard. And a tip to check out the cute little garden path and the veterans memorial fountain. Bring the kids, it's an easy doable little hike. Bring the dogs too! They'll love to drink from the creek. Make sure to leash them, it's listed on the sign in front (NYS law). read more

Crappy place to bring a pet. They didn't have any place for the dog to run, unless you wanted to keep yelling for them to come back, because it's not fenced in. And the signs are very misleading. The one that has the sign for the park, is under construction. So I'm not to sure what was going on with that. There was no place to throw your pets waste either. So hopefully they can hold it, or just poop in the high grass! read more

I ended up here by just driving around with my dogs looking for a place to get some energy out. Upon arrival I noted that there were quite a few other dogs here as well.Theres a huge field which is beautiful. We ended up taking a trail along some water. There is a sign right as you walk in stating dogs mugs be on a 6 foot leash-but it would appear no one takes that rule too seriously. My dogs loved meeting other pups, playing in the water (and drinking it) and running around in the fields. I really liked this place, it was really beautiful. read more

A lot of the location looks like its being prepped for larger renovations. They have some cool little trails along some water ways.

I'm a little embarrassed I didn't know about this park sooner! Took my little one (my 2 year old Rat Terrier named Penny) to the park to get some energy out and she loved it! Once you enter the parking lot, make a left to find the entrance. Once you get towards the entrance, you'll see a couple of signs mandating all owners to keep their dogs on a leash. I noticed not too many people actually follow this rule. I personally don't mind, as long as your dog is trained. Looks like not too many people come to this park - highly recommended! read more
