This is a well-polished gem in the southtowns. I have lived in Western New York all of my life, and finally made the trip to Knox Farm State Park. It has a great parking lot, poop bags for your four-legged companion, and a great spot to let them also run and make new friends. There are two large, enclosed grassy places for big dogs to frolick, and one area for little dogs to have fun as well. There are benches and areas for people to sit and mingle, and a place for dogs to get quench their thirst, and shady spots to take a break. This is such a great place. There are also trails, and opportunities to see the Knox Family Home, stables, etc. When I was there, there were many people doing photo shoots. If you haven't been here, definitely get here and enjoy some of your summer at this location.

    Nice new parking lot!

Knox Farm State Park is 633 acres of always trying to improve. The area has gone from a sense of maybe some people will come, to people love this place! The parking and access and egress has improved greatly, from a ramshackle entry and winding rutted road to an e-z in, e-z out paved lot. There is a great SIX ACRE (total) dawn-dusk dog park that of course is fully fenced, with a doggie sally port of sorts, so the dogs stay in without escaping unexpectedly. There are plenty of water bowls and poop bags, garbage cans - all you might need during your visit. There is also a separately fenced dog park for your little doggies. There have been some pretty rowdy looking canines so you might need to assess the mood before embarking (haha) on the dog park part. The dog park is a quick jaunt from your car to the fenced area, so if you are not a dog person, no worries, they have their own space with their eye on the other dog visitors, not you. (Leashed dogs are welcome on the paths and trails; there are poop bag stands and trash cans aplenty, so no excuses not to pick up and frankly, we have never seen dog poop on any path at any time.) The trails are really nice to walk, some paved, some in the scenic woods. There you can walk, snowshoe, or ride your horse (with a proper equestrian permit). It's fun to walk around the winding ways, sit by a pond, see the amazing sites and there are many picturesque photo opportunities. In fact, there are often professional photographers taking family portraits at certain spots. Idyllic really, with birds and butterflies adding to the surreal beauty, northwesternmost foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in the distance. There are some historic buildings that add a sense of yesteryear, when the Knox family used the premises as their country estate. The newer greenhouses are for growing native plants for habitat restoration. We observed a secluded not-for-the-public area with beehives clearly fenced off, and there is even a small little free library in the woods. Sit at the table, in the chairs and take a book or leave a book. If birds are your thing, there are NY and Buffalo Audubon Society nature walks and events. You like trees? There are events to ID trees and even weeds. Check out their website calendar for snowshoe or cross country ski events to try. We attended an exhibition of fine arts and crafts a couple of summers ago. Most events are free of charge made possible through the efforts of the volunteers for Friends of Knox Farm State Park, a non-profit organization. There really is something for everyone at this park.

Unique, multi habitat, sprawling state park minutes from the heart of East Aurora, originally owned by the Knox family of Buffalo. You can hike, cross country ski, bike (in designated areas) and ride horseback (with permit) throughout the park. Some have said the sunsets are magical here and after experiencing some I have to agree. Come for a visit and see for yourself. I love to come hiking here with my dog and significant other. Within the space there are different kinds of habitats including woods, grasslands and ponds which make me feel like I was transported to a tale in a storybook. It's fun and keeps things interesting to see a few quick scenery changes on a hike that is often less than 3 miles. The paths are clearly marked and there are easy to follow maps onsite. The main path is the outer loop with various trails that cut across so you can customize the length of your outing. This is great place for hikers who are just starting out because the terrain is not difficult and the way the trails are designed you will always be able to easily find your way back to the main parking lot. One of my favorite parts of the park is the library hidden in the woods. This consists of some benches in the shade and a book closet where visitors can borrow something to read or leave a book to share. It's also fun to people watch here. Grab a coffee before you come and watch people in the multi use space. There is an expansive dog park broken down into two sections for large and small dogs. Facilities on location for weddings, conventions, and special events which include seasonal craft shows, and annual events including Bark Bash and Borderlands Art and Music Festival. You can also check out the historic barns which are currently being restored. The barns are home to some farm animals who reside on the property. There is an organization set up, Friends of Knox Farm, which allows the community to get involved and donate funds or their time to help maintain the park. It's cool to see members of the community taking pride in caring for such a special park.

I was really impressed by this park (or at least what I saw of it). I had actually never heard of it until my friend scheduled her goodbye party here. I'm a Northtowner, so I'm not familiar with all the nice parks in the Southtowns. I really like this one, however, so I may explore more! My fiance and I arrived from the Seneca entrance. Now, it's important to note that my friend who's moving away really scheduled this party for her corgi. The group that was there was a pack of corgis with their humans. That's already an amazing event right away. Anyways, when my fiance and I passed the dog park, we automatically knew we were in the right place. There were about 10 dogs, but no tails to be seen. We had arrived. The parking was a little confusing, but we figured it out eventually. We went the long way around and saw the adorable barns and the cafe (dog friendly, of course). The dog park was straight ahead, and as we walked in, my fiance and I noticed that the field was entirely mud. My poor fiance had neither dressed for the cold nor mud. His work shoes were slipping and sliding through the little pasture where the corgis were located, and his red, raw hands tremored from the cold. It had just snowed, after all. Hopefully it's the last snow this Spring. I realllly hope that. We had an amazing time despite the mud. Sure, the rambunctious little dogs covered our jeans in it as they jumped on us enthusiastically, but at least I didn't have to bathe them at home. The corgi group was welcoming and it was great to see my friend before she left. Still, my fiance was probably going to need his hand amputated from frostbite if we didn't get him in the car quickly, so we ducked out a little early. The dog park itself is huge! We were corralled in a small section of it, but it's good to note that it's much bigger than I've been describing. We really didn't see too much of the state park itself, but I loved what I managed to get to. I recommend coming here on a Sunday afternoon for a nice day trip. Bring boots.

I love this park, full of loops and loops of trails. You could almost make a puzzle out of it, trying not to repeat any segment while hitting them all. Each time I go there I seem to find new areas to explore. Well maintained and quick to act if a tree falls across the path, I have to give a round of applause to the park maintenance team. Brand new parking area that expands how many can easily access the dog area and the now car-free tree-lined areas. The Mansion can be booked for events and (pre-COVID) held occasional craft markets inside. One of those that I hate to review well because I don't want anyone else going there for photo shoots or clogging up the trails. But it deserves five stars.

This is my baby's second favorite dog park in the area, and while it's a bit of drive from Buffalo, it's worth it on occasion, especially in the late winter/ early spring when other places are closed. They have a huge area for the pups to run, and my dog's favorite part is the section along the side with the tall grass for him to go frolicking in. They also host an annual event here called Bark Bash, with tons of vendors and booth set up, all for the dogs! They also have doggie costume contests, trick contests, etc that are always fun to watch. We try and take ted every year to the bash, and for a run in the park! They also have a cafe/bakery right outside the dog park area that welcomes dogs! We stopped in on our last trip and my beagle baby met another beagle baby and my heart was full! We got some human snacks and dog snacks to go and everything was delicious! Well, at least of the human snacks!

This entire park is pretty incredible - there's plenty to see and do, and your dog will definitely thank you for bringing them along! Here's the dog park review: The large open field beside the old red barns is usually where you'll find the dogs running around. There's a double gated area to keep any runners from slipping out and getting away. I like that there are two separate fields, a smaller one for the little dogs to enjoy without fear, and a bigger one for those big ol' retrievers and huskies. My dog and I favor the larger field, of course. Plenty of space for them to run around, and there's even a couple of tennis balls left behind for them to play with, though I usually bring my own dog's toys from home, just because she prefers them. They also provide poop bags and trash cans, plus buckets of water - though I appreciate the sentiment, I typically bring my own bags and water for my dog. As for the rest of the park, there's a ton of wide open space to roam. There are a few hiking trails that are pretty easy to find (just follow the paved paths, they'll lead you there), some pretty gorgeous views, as well as the Little Free Library that was quite the adventure to find for my dog and I. (I found out after the fact that it was closer than we thought, and we basically took the very long way around. Oh well. We had fun trying to find it either way!) Overall this park is truly a great place to get away. Even when it's a little busy, it's easy to feel some solidarity here. Day 17

Visited because husband's soccer league was having their games at this park. This is a HUGE, green park which was gorgeous to be at since the sun was still out and the skies were clear. There were a bunch of dogs out on walks and the fields were really clean. The only down side about this park is that there was only one porta potty on the huge field and it was a bit gross (not that any of them are clean, but it was missing sanitizer and was low on tissue). :/ Other than that, definitely a beautiful park!

This place is beauftiful. It's out in East Aurora near Elma. Off Buffalo Road. There are a few entrances, research the one you want before you go. When we were there we wanted the "Main House" for a service. Parking for that is not nearby and not very easy for anyone with walking issues. Be aware of that before you go. No handicapped spots nearer the door, and parking lot is gravel, in case you are wearing heels for a part. I imagine this could be a 5 star review if I had gone hiking out there or something like that. The scenery alone would make it that. But as an event space I was not impressed. Chairs from 1960 I think. Food was only ok, maybe a function of the party givers I don't know. But it was perfunctory at best. This is really a 3.5 review. I rounded down.

4.5 stars! Address on yelp is accurate. Has large and small dog parks, fully fenced in. Two Large dog parks which are huge has one small dog park. Technically it could be considered double gates if you come in by the barn. Has benches, poop bags and water source by the barn. There are paved hiking trails. Came on a rainy day, just like any other dog park, it was muddy. This is a great place and I am glad someone donated their farm for a great use!

There's so many great trails to hike at Knox; there's the library trail, butterfly trail, backyard trail, lower ponds trail, outer loop & there's even a bike path.In summer you can go horseback riding & in winter cross-country skiing. There's even a dog park to bring your furry friends. There's so much wildlife , like the deer I saw on my visit, inside these beautiful scenic nature trails. They also offer plenty of parking, so come out & enjoy a fantastic experience.

We barely scratched the surface on our visit due to the hot weather and the size of this place. My husband, children and one of our dogs spent their time in the large dog park. They provide bags to clean up after pets and nobody encountered any surprises so people seem pretty respectful of one another. I took a short walk along the nature trail to check out the "library" in the woods. It's just at the start of the wooded area, and very charming with a well kept cabinet and benches. I wish I could have explored further. We wanted to see the waterfall, but couldn't find the shortcut to the overlook off Gypsy Road. If you walk from the start of the trail in the park, it's about 3 miles. We did see some surprisingly chill deer near homes so I imagine you have a good chance of seeing them on the trail, too. We didn't see the mansion or the pond. I'd love to go back some day.

My lawn was very uneven and there were holes from the dogs digging, as well as bare spots from where an old patio was, so it needed some serious overhaul. Sod was my best option and they explained the process very well. I did tell them that I needed a few days notice before installing, but they did not give me one, just showed up and said it was the day, which is one reason for 4 instead of 5 stars. They did great work and worked late into the evening to finish in one day. I am very happy with the results, and they did send me a watering schedule for the sod as it has to be watered a lot at the start. They also came back to check on the progress a few days later. They did tell me I need to spread Grub X to get rid of the grubs that kill grass, but I am still waiting to hear from the owner on when it can be spread due to the restrictions the sod has early on. It's been a couple weeks from when they placed the sod and told me about it and another reason 4 instead of 5 stars.

They tore up my lawn installing an irrigation system that never worked properly--unless you count watering the sidewalk. When I raised concerns, I was told the problem was my low water pressure. They planted things I specifically said I didn't want, expanded flower beds far beyond what I had requested, and when I asked them to round out a bed and plant grass, I ended up with even more mulch. It wasn't what I wanted, and it certainly wasn't attractive. To make matters worse, when plants died, customer service blamed me and told me to sue them because they wouldn't replace them. So, would I hire this company again? Absolutely not. Save yourself the headache, the expense, and the disappointment. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

Despite her website's claims, Carla's design suggestions felt generic and lacked the personalized touch we were looking for. Carla's lack of attention to detail became increasingly apparent as we worked with her. Our wedding had many unique and custom details. We were genuinely anxious that our vision wouldn't be realized. Luckily, we had multiple vendors and family friends that helped Carla execute the event. As the bride, I distanced myself as much as possible from Carla to allow myself to enjoy the day without frustration. This is not the typical experience.
