I work nearby so my coworkers & I took a walk on lunch and I decided to grab a bite to eat from this establishment. At first walking in it looked very cozy. Tables, chairs, counter, couches with books on the right. A really laid back place to grab breakfast, lunch or a coffee & cookie just to hang out. The sign / name says "bakery" but they have sandwiches & soups on the menu too. I ordered the Monty Cristo sandwich. It was made fresh to order, but was ready quick. Good bread, thick sliced ham and turkey on the sandwich as well, it was very tasty. The preferred payment method is cash or electronic method. Leisha (I believe she was the owner) was pleasant & gave me a free delicious chocolate chip cookie after hearing I work nearby and it was my first time there. I'll be back soon! read more

Stopped in Bridgeport for breakfast on my way up the coast. Leisha's bakery caught my eye with the reviews and it lived up to it! The food here is pretty good, I feel they have some unique menu items (like the corn flake chicken tenders, which I hope to try soon, they're always out of it when I go) It's really cool that they have a coffee shop style vibe and te atmosphere is usually friendly, I just find them a little bit disorganized and, although it's been awhile since I've been there, be mindful of what's marked gluten free and ask questions. The mast time I was there even their menu was improperly marked and the staff was not very knowledgeable. Hopefully, they've worked on it since then. Love this bakery, they provided a delicious birthday cake for me and the cake was simple in flavor and style, but it was the most delicious thing ever. Top-notch service. Hands down the best chocolate cupcake I have ever had, and I have a large sample size to draw from. The frosting was fluffy and rich and perfect. The cake was moist and super tender. The presentation was beautiful. My pants will be upset I have discovered these cupcakes, but pants be damned! This place is known for their chocolate chip cookies (go early or they will sell out!) But I'm here to spread the word on the cupcakes! Get yourself a mid day treat. You won't regret it. Also, my lunch of the Firestone chicken melt sandwich was awesome. It was on a fresh roll with lettuce, tomato, onions, melted cheese, avocado, bacon and hot sauce. Holy crap it was good. Very cute and cozy little spot in this small CT city. They make some nice breakfast sandwiches; this is what I came looking for. Took the advice of the friendly gal @ the counter - got my sandwich on the Portuguese Roll - it was delicious. Bagels looked pretty big! To make Great Bread you need Great Water - Your in CT - so you are all good! Not sure if I will be returning anytime soon, now that we know that Cracker Barrel is not to far away ;-) - But, if you are passing by, I would highly recommend. A+ read more

Stopped by this cute classic Soul Cafe:) Wow! I order my own version of a Monte Cristo and Leisha was all too happy to accommodate me and made mine with bacon which was delicious. My hubby has the Chicken Quesadilla Quiche and it was amazing! The portions are nicely sized, not like other places. Leisha is very nice and attentive to all who come into her shop, it feels like home. Her coffee served in large mugs is great! Love her sultry music in the background and the decor is adorable! I've always loved this bakery/café. The owner and her staff are fabulous people. Plus I love supporting Bridgeport businesses. It's my home and we need to show some love to the people that risk it all to open a business in this city. My 43rd birthday was quickly approaching. I could've gone to a place like "stop and shop" or "the pantry" in Fairfield for a cake. But I saw this beautiful vanilla confetti cake online, and when I thought of a baker to bake it for me , Leisha's bakery is the first that popped into my mind! Went in that Thursday, got a beautiful piece of quiche with a nice mixed green salad. Chatted with some of the customers, Ernie Newton , it was wonderful to meet you. Showed her a picture of my dream cake and she was like "no problem let's do this" The cake that I received was so delicious, so pretty, I did not even want to eat it. It was the perfect amount of sweet, moist, I usually hate frosting or I scrape 99% of it off. This frosting was not too sweet, not too plain, for a vanilla confetti cake you would figure it's already "plain" Being just vanilla. But it was perfect. Everybody loved it and wanted second bigger pieces ;) I had to stash a nice piece to the side for the next day LOL But I promise you this cake was so good I'm actually going to order another one & Create a celebration or event LOL and I've told everybody "you have to go here'". She will even do vegan/help if you have dietary restrictions, etc. I think the next one I will do a vegan cake. I'm vegetarian and I preferred to eat plant-based as much as possible. But the cake was being shared with regular diet people, so I just decided to keep it easy. While I was there that day, I brought home a few cupcakes, and two of them happened to be vegan. So delicious. And the cookies OMG my boyfriend ate them all! I absolutely adore the hash brown waffles and the French toast casserole. Available on Tuesdays BTW Her quiche is so delicious too!! I love that she always makes one that is vegetables without meat so people like me can enjoy it. I love that she has games, Uno cards, books- Harry Potter, even if you go in alone there is always somebody to talk to you if you so choose to socialize. The french toast casserole was amazing!!! I just had to go and taste it after reading so many reviews about it and let me just say it did not disappoint and thankfully i went on a Tuesday which is the only day they have the french toast casserole. Not only was the french toast great but so was the freshly made bacon egg and cheese that was very well seasoned. The lady working there was so nice she even gave my 1 year old boy a free chocolate chip. I will definitely be coming again. read more

Lovely space, and Leisha is always warm. My go to here are the egg bite sliders and the quiches (I tend to call and see what the daily selections are) - these are both stellar! This place was cute quiet and quaint. Unfortunately, there was only one sweet employee running the whole place by herself which interfered with time convenience. The monte cristo was delicious. I would def stay away from the hash brown pancakes - they were overpowered by too much Italian seasoning. Also, cappuccino is not their forte. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the sample of the hamburger quiche they had out was delicious. I ordered the hash brown waffle with bacon and cheddar. It takes about 15 minutes to make but I had the time to wait and I'm so glad I did!! That was the BEST breakfast that I've ever had in Bridgeport. Very very cute and what a perfect downtown location. They have plenty of indoor seating as well as outside in the sun on a nice day. So many baked goods from which to choose plus tiny frittatas perfect for a light snack among other sandwiches for lunch. You honestly can't go wrong. I love independent bakeries and strongly urge others to support them. BTW, if you aren't doing business in downtown Bridgeport, this is easy off I-95 or Route 8. The place was close to empty with two other folks seated at a table so I got attentive personal service. The counter staff showed me all the pastry options and patiently took my order. Brought everything out really fast but forgot my water. I would say this is a great place to get lunch or breakfast if you work around the area. It had a friendly laid back kind of vibe. The menu is not complex or too gourmet. The tables are stocked with puzzles and card games for people who like to hang out. Very disappointed with the customer service at this establishment. I initially wanted to try this place out for breakfast, when I walked in and asked the front receptionist/ waiter for a menu she immediately sucked her teeth and said with a rude attitude "I don't have one" "just look at the board and order, I mean it's breakfast". I found this to be very rude considering there are ways to talk to people doesn't involve making them feel as though your bothering them. Nonetheless, I walked out and when I did so... she laughed and the police office laughed along with her. Extremely unfortunate and I will never come back here. I was greeted by a cheery "Good Morning!" from the staff and sweet smells of home-baked goodness. As a first timer, I was walked through the menu highlights - hash brown waffle, egg sliders, french toast casserole - all which are made from scratch. I had the garden egg slider on a heavenly biscuit. Biscuit had the perfect amount of buttery crust with a flaky center. I shared a bacon and goat cheese hash brown waffle which served as a great side for the slider (must be shared as it is a large portion or eaten as a meal on its own). Double shot latte with a blast of vanilla was tangy and creamy - served in a big mug that fits cozily in your hand. We dropped by here this morning on the way to DC from Boston and it was the highlight of our drive! We decided to come here for breakfast after reading the great reviews- and they didn't disappoint! The hash waffles were delicious and I can honestly say I've never had anything like that in my 26 years on the awesome planet. The spinach and egg wrap was also really good and the biscuit was mouth watering. The service was great and the owner was really friendly. The interior of the restaurant is really cool too and has a great vibe. Lots of space to sit and a very chill environment to relax in. We got a cupcake to-go that was also incredible and the owner was nice enough to throw in 2 free cookies for us! I wish I lived here so I could eat here every morning ;) read more

Good food, and nice people, but service is often extremely slow. People in the kitchen obviously working very hard but people at the counter are inefficient. They need to understand that many people are coming from work to pick up a sandwich and need to get back to the desk and/or before the meter expires. read more
