Food was OK, service was slow. Very small eating area and when we were there the AC wasn't working.

Veganish Café serves truly outstanding vegan food, I'd give the food itself a 10/10. Everything we ordered was delicious and really well made. The only reason I would remove a star is the service. The restaurant wasn't very busy (just one or two other tables) but our appetizers came out at the same time as our main dishes, and we had to go up to the counter to ask for a water refill. On a positive note, the owner came out to introduce herself, and she was absolutely lovely. She shared a bit about how she and her husband started the restaurant, which gave the place a really warm, personal touch. Overall, I'd definitely come back for the food, but I hope the hostess and waitstaff can be a bit more attentive in the future. The menu is also extensive and has a lot of options! read more

THIS WAS AMAZING! I'm a vegetarian and was looking for cafes in Bridgeport near the ferry port, this was about 5 minutes away. This place immediately popped up and I knew I had to try it. I ordered through uber eats and got the crispy 'chicken' sandwich for $21. The uber eats did not disclose that it DID come with fries, but for $21 I was hoping and happy it did. The portion was very large, I was full just off the sandwich. The lettuce and tomato were fresh and the sandwich was CRISPY. I haven't had an accurate chicken sandwich like this in years, but it hit the spot and I wish I lived closer! The interior was also super cute and they have a bunch of menu items for everyone. One thing I struggled with was that I couldn't find a proper website and menu, but regardless I am amazed by this place! read more

I previously had a very favorable experience at this restaurant. However, there seems to have been a decline recently. I made an attempt to contact the owners and did not receive a response. Unfortunately, I am changing my rating from a 5 to a 2. The cashier/waitress was apologetic, but that is not an adequate substitute for disregard from the kitchen staff. The food was still tasty, but it is not worth the wait. On my last visit, I waited approximately 50 minutes for a BLT sandwich. The cook could be overheard 1) making inappropriate comments to your female cashier/server and 2) saying "this isn't McDonalds" when I finally inquired after 40 minutes about the status of your order. The time before, I visited the restaurant, I had to return the item for its poor taste/quality (apparently that time there was a substitute product being used in the BLT). read more

I'm passing through the place, the name caught my attention and why not try vegan food, I'm not vegan but it's great to experience new flavors, the attention of the two people in front is very nice, gentle and charismatic, you order at the front, you pay and sit down to wait for your food, the atmosphere is super pleasant, the music is perfect and relaxing, there is wifi service if your idea is to do some work. My rate is for the food, the hamburger I ordered was really good and the parents too, but I didn't like that I had to wait 46 minutes for it and no one told me anything while I was waiting. It seems too long to me, especially since I needed to return to my job. I simply can't get enough of this place! I LOVE Veganish! My first visit was a Saturday night. It was close to closing time so I got my food 'to go' and devoured it in the car on my 45 minute drive back home. I returned the following day which was a little embarrassing but, apparently, not enough to stop me. It was so worth it to sit down and experience that Sunday Brunch menu! I got the Vegan Soul Platter (only available on Sundays after 2pm). It's the first time I've had vegan mac n' cheese that I actually enjoyed. It tasted like a 'church lady' made it--and if you're from a Pentecostal or Baptist church, you'll know exactly what I mean! :-) Since those first visits, I've returned multiple times--for my birthday dinner and other special occasions with family and friends. I even brought my 95 year-old dad who normally turns up his nose at Vegan dishes. He ordered the Nitty Gritty's and kept repeating that those were the best grits he's ever had and that he couldn't believe he wasn't eating actual fish. He enjoyed it so much that he called me the following day from his car saying that he was traveling back from Norwalk for more! Do yourself a favor: Get yourself there! I couldn't recommend it more highly. The food is delicious, the service is friendly, the atmosphere is pleasant, parking is easy, . . .all the ingredients I need to keep me going back. Pro-tip for managing expectations: If there's something on the menu that's important for you to try, call them first to make sure it's available that day. There are times when they run out of items but, that said, everything else on the menu is SO good. . .so you should still go! read more

The other day on my lunch break, I walked in and I placed a to go order and ordered the Durty Mac. It took 40 minutes. I know that there is a help wanted sign in the window, but the food was coming out literally 1 plate at a time. So happy to have thoughtful Vegan food in Bridgeport! The space is super cute, and the location is right off I95 (exit) 27. Order at the counter, and they'll bring your order to your table. There are even a few lovely tables with umbrellas on the sidewalk. The owners and the staff are friendly, helpful, and eager to please. The food is delicious!! I've been there twice and had the sweet chili wrap and fish n chips. My husband had the cheese steak special, and my dinner had empanadas. We loved all of it. My only critique is that the non-vegan items make the menu kinda confusing. (Like, the Vegan Crispy Sandwich is on a non-vegan brioche bun.) I had to ask a lot of questions to make sure my food was 100% vegan. But it was worth it. They've only been open a couple weeks, so I bet they'll have the kinks worked out in no time. I eat 98% vegan but sometimes I love a regular pastry and they have vegan-ish pasteurized there. My non vegan husband and son loved the vegan-ish brownies. I had the oyster mushroom chicken and waffles which was so delicious. We also had the fish patty which was yummy. We sat outside with our dog and they have such a nice little setup for dogs too. We were excited to try this place but were quickly discouraged by their lack of available breakfast items. We're told upon ordering that they couldn't make a majority of meals. We could basically choose from two different types of avocado toast for $14. So we decided to not order and try another place. I was excited to find ANY restaurant in Bridgeport that might cater to vegetarians/vegans, let alone one that caters almost exclusively to this diet. The staff at Veganish was extremely friendly, welcoming, and helpful, even as my wife and I asked a million questions. Unfortunately, though, a lot of the items we would have ordered were not available at the time we sat down for dinner on a Sunday night. To get right to the point, what we WERE able to order (two veggie burgers) was good, but nothing special. I have a feeling they were pre-packaged burgers, in fact. The appetizer, a version of Cauliflower Buffalo Wings, was too greasy, sort of tasteless and not a good value for the price, either. In the end, our VERY modest meal cost us $75 + , including the mandatory 20% tip they added to our check AND the 4% credit card fee they had the balls to charge on top of THAT. I'd like to say this was a good experience only because the staff was so pleasant, but unfortunately, the food, the prices, and the tipping/surcharge policy struck this place right off my list. read more

Such a delightful experience first experience! The owners are so personable and bring such a light to this place with an inviting ambiance! It is newly opened but it felt so comforting and like they have been here for years. What a fantastic addition to the neighborhood! The food is fantastic: I recommend the cinnamon sweet potato pancakes, the beet ginger juice, and I even had a real egg scramble that was surprisingly tasty (remember- they're veganish). All the staff were friendly and helpful, and they obviously are working hard to launch this new place (and doing a great job at that and even offered us some complimentary items!). We chatted up co-owner Nate who explained that he's vegan and his co-owner wife Hannah is ish, and thus they wanted to offer a place where friends and loved ones of vegans and non vegans could share a meal together. When I walked in a noticed the jazz playing in the background which was a warm welcome in itself, we then proceeded to our table and had a look at the menu which had plenty of options. If you are not vegan, you will still enjoy everything on this menu. If you ARE vegan, you will think you walked into heaven! The food is comparable to New York City vegan restaurants that I have been to, in quality and presentation. Each dish arrives plated beautifully. The owner, Hannah, is truly gifted in the vegan culinary art world. There are both vegan and veganish dishes, and having kids that are both vegan and strictly meat and potatoes, everyone walked out, loving their dinner. Cute and casual in a neighborhood where the neighbors seem to love their cafe. While the weather is still warm, do yourself a favor and eat outside at one of the little tables. Plenty of parking, directly across the street from Housatonic Community College, and directly next-door to the courthouse.
