Unfortunately for me the massage therapist did not listen and completely ignored my request at all. She spent about 75% of the time on my lower back (which was tight and needed work), 20% of the time on my legs and only 5% of the time on my upper back (which is where my pain was located). To top everything off she used a hand held massage tool on me for 5-10 min. If I wanted that I would have purchased that device for myself. Needless to say I left the office feeling no better than when I went in. I do not recommend and will never be going back. I have had many massages in my life and this is one of the worst experiences I've ever had.

Personally, because I sit down for work alot I specified that i was looking for neck and back massage as well as calves and feet. She was somewhat matter-of-fact in asking a few questions, but not in any way rude or inappropriate. When she stepped out, I disrobed and waited for her to re-enter. I will say that the deep tissue massage Allison gave in the next 60 minutes was one of the most therapeutic experiences I have ever had- she put her heart and soul into working out the knots and sore muscles that I had. Her strong massaging and stroking of my back, hips, neck, and shoulders nearly put me into tears, but in a very good way. She asked several times if the pressure was too much, and asked me to let her know if she needed to let up a bit- just like how a professional and competent masseuse should always inquire to a client during deep-tissue. In quick summary, when she had completed the massage on me, I felt like paradise had come down and rested on my body- I felt so relaxed and much less sore. It was an almost out-of-body experience.
