I had a great time working with Ann at the Same Leman's Chevy City in Peoria. She was thorough and patient with me. I had done my research prior to coming in so there wasn't too much car "selling" on her part, but she was open to any other questions that I had. She was also willing to work with me on some cosmetic/interior issues that I had. However, the financial process and the person doing the finances was very rushed and overwhelming. As a first time young car buyer, I was nervous to make sure I wasn't being taken advantage of. But the guy who was doing the finances was an easy going guy who made jokes, but spoke about 100 words a minute in the quietest voice when going through contracts and payments. I had to have him repeat the warranties that were being pushed on to me three times because of how quickly he was trying to sell it to me. It just seemed sleazy and sketchy. I understand having to sell and having a marketing stand, but it was just a clichéd tactic that made me leave with a bitter taste in my mouth. When I brought my Chevy Volt into the dealership for a software update, the vehicle was still under warranty. The update was completed and then the heating and cooling stopped working almost immediately. Once I brought the vehicle back in, I was just barely over warranty and they said it was going to cost $2,500+ to repair. In addition, no cost for diagnostic was discussed on the phone or verbally with my husband who dropped the vehicle off. Upon picking up the keys and car, we were told that we would owe $100 for the diagnostic visit...which probably could have been figured out via Youtube. When I questioned the attendant on Saturday, she was great. She gave us information and people to call and stated that she would f/u with management so we would receive a call regarding this. Five days (3 business days) later and still not communication. I would most definitely NOT recommend Chevrolet service. Upon leaving on Saturday, I drove the car to O'brien and traded it in for another vehicle. Save your time, money, and sanity and drive past Chevy City. The kicker... This is the response I received from the "manager" who did not manage any part of this situation... "Dana, I'm sorry you were not completely satisfied with your recent service visit. The Volt is a hybrid electrical vehicle that takes a Certified Volt Technician to both diagnose and repair the vehicle for electrical and mechanical concerns. Most of our Volt customers have done extensive research into the new technology in their vehicles and are aware of the complexity of the repairs needed. Unfortunately, your factory warranties have expired, and you were quoted up front for possible diagnostic charges involved for the technician to diag your vehicle's mechanical concerns. I'm sorry you felt you needed to trade your vehicle in, but I hope you are completely satisfied with your purchase." Unbelievable...Call me stupid again for not "researching the new technology in my 4 year old vehicle". read more

I went to Leman to buy a replacement wiper blade for my rear window on a Saturn Vue. I bought it, installed it, and the rubber didn't meet the glass! I called back and they said to come in and have Service look at it. Came back in and Paul took the whole wiper off. And off he went, back in minutes, popped it back on and it was perfect. We arrived after they had closed, so we put a description of the problem along with the keys in the night dropbox. I had a 7 am appointment, the techs didn't show up until 7:15. I asked when booking the appointment, and when I checked in if I could make an 8 am Dr appointment and was assured that would be no problem. We'll, I was late for my appointment as my car wasn't finished until 8:05. The person working the counter tried to do me a favor and have the tech skip the car wash but someone else ended up taking my car through the wash. The wifi didn't work either. Between buying this vehicle and now my first service appointment I'm very disappointed. I've bought my last two cars from O'Brien Mitsubishi and they were nothing but helpful, prompt, and friendly. The employees at the dealership care more about looking at their phones then the actual customer. In the lounge while I waited for my car, was no water or refreshments and it was just a bare bones place. No employee walking through there even acknowledged me or other customers waiting. Also, I was given a $1,400 recommendation for my car of items that needed fixing. When I asked more about what those items were I couldn't even get an answer. The best part is I called my regular mechanic and he explained everything to me and quoted me only $700 for the work. Horrible experience! No wonder everyone hates dealerships. read more

The only reason this dealership gets 2 stars instead of 1 is because we were able to save 3% on our auto loan through their preferred bank vs. the bank we originally chose to finance through. We found a vehicle on their website, and called ahead to discuss driving and potentially purchasing it. We drove 45 minutes to the dealership, test drove the vehicle, allowed them to test drive ours, and agreed to purchase. Because this process took roughly 45 minutes, we thought we were doing pretty well. We then sat in uncomfortable chairs for 3 hours waiting for someone to complete our purchase. At no point were we offered an estimate on how long this process would take, an apology for how long it was taking, a glass of water - nothing. The manager who test drove our car didn't say a word to us. When he was done, he came and tossed the keys on the table in front of us, then turned and walked away without saying a word. Our rep was helping 4 families find vehicles and complete purchases, while at least 5 other salesmen sat at their computers looking at Facebook. After waiting for hours, I decided to at least start moving things over; our 3 year old son was with us, and I'm currently 6 months pregnant. The sales rep assisting us watched me struggle on my own for 10 minutes to move seats and set up our carseat in the dark, without offering any sort of assistance. When I asked how much longer we could expect to be there, I was given the same "a few more minutes" speech that we had received all afternoon. We bought this car 2 days ago, and even after 4 hours at the dealership, they're still contacting us asking for more documents and paperwork (which they received the day we purchased). Take your business 20 minutes east and go to Baum's! You'll get much better customer service, better trade deals, better prices, and friendly staff. read more

I purchased a $35k vehicle just a few days over 6 weeks ago. It was my 3rd $35k Dennison ford vehicle in 4 years and I also purchased two cheaper cars in that time same time period. I never once had a complaint about service from Dennison. The most recent vehicle was purchased a few weeks before Leman bought Dennison ford. Yesterday the check engine light came on. It is a 3 year old truck with 50k miles, but roughly 6 weeks in my possession. They found it needed an oxygen sensors. I asked if they'll cover it since it is such a recent purchase. They essentially said "That is Dennison's problem". I said "but I purchased it here". They have a record of every Dennison purchase including my 6 week old purchase. So, as far as I'm concerned ...they bought me and all Dennison's customers when they purchased Dennison. Ford should demand a continuity of service when a dealership changes hands. To me, this looks as bad for Ford as it does for Leman. Apparently Leman just wants the up side of owning Dennison's customers. I said "This $200 part will cost you $20,000 to $200,000 if you don't cover it because it'll be my last purchase at this location and I'll make sure everyone I know that shopped at Dennison will know that Leman is no Dennison Ford ...as far as getting good service is concerned". He Said he talked with the owner (after I told him that) and the owner said "no" (knowing full well I spent $100k there in the past 4 years). How could any business owner be so shortsighted? If anyone buys a Ford there, they're simply uninformed as to whom they're dealing with. I informed my 10 employees about Leman. The owner wasn't concerned enough to come out and talk with me. So, for service reasons, they want to distance themselves from Dennison, but if you go to the Dennison web site it forwards you to Leman. In the reviews area on the Leman site, it shows Edmunds reviews from Dennison customers about their Dennison experience. I recognize the name of the Dennison sales person getting praise in the reviews. They never worked for Leman. So, they're happy to get Dennison's reputation, they just don't want to provide the same level of service. The Leman's have several lots selling several makes. Since my bad service came directly from an owner with the last name of Leman; then they're all bad news as far as I'm concerned. read more
