Now they sent me a rude email asking me to sell them my car because they have a customer looking for one. So? This dealership has had my 2019 Jeep w/17500 miles on it for 5 weeks now , and no one there has a sense of urgency regarding fixing my vehicle. Last Friday, they said "we can't figure out what's wrong, come pick it up". Imagine that, in other words they told me " even though I had an extended warranty, "tough luck pal"! We brought the vehicle home and my wife went to turn it off after parking it in our garage! All the lights inside the car started going crazy, just like in our original complaint. She turned the ignition off, pulled the FOB out, and the car kept running and there was no way to turn it off. So, a flatbed truck was called and it was hauled to the dealership and the engine was still running. I called numerous people at the Customer Complaint Resolution and no one answered their phone. I left two messages. After a satisfactory amount of time had passed with no callback, I tried a third time and did reach someone. I gave her my case number that I had received previously over a week ago, and we discussed my situation. I told we are now on week five without a vehicle.I told her we checked two times a week every week and the only answer was "We can't figure it out how to fix it". She told me that wasn't her understanding. She said, they were told that the dealership was waiting for approval from a third party. Then said, the car will be repaired tomorrow. At this point, I wanted to hit something! Besides poor customer service, this dealership has no one with a sense of urgency, and somebodies lying through their teeth. So I went to buy a 25 Camry there, and I made an offer. At first the sales manager Jacob said that if he hadn't sold the car by Tuesday then he would take the offer. Monday he contacted me and asked me if I'd like to come get the car that it was mine. I said I couldn't come on now because I had somebody coming to my house. This was at about 4:30. He said that's fine we would see you tomorrow. He informed to me that he was off tomorrow that I would be dealing with somebody else. I was like that's fine. Of course I was happy. I had had an extremely bad broken leg that I had been immobile from for 5 months so I am just barely getting around with a walker so my 12 year old daughter helped me I empty everything out of my car that I was trading in to get it ready for the next day. The next day I'm at work and I get an email confirming that I'm going to be there at 3:00. I took off an hour and a half from work so I could get there in time and have time to go by the bank and get my down payment money. A couple hours later I get a phone call saying that they sold the car to somebody else. I don't understand how they can tell me that it's my car, confirm an appointment time and then do that. I've had the pleasure of working with Nate twice. Jan 2019 was with a Used Nissan Murano Leman had on their lot. Which turned out to be a very good car! Most recently, Jan 2020, I decided it was time for an upgrade. I did research on other cars and was ultimately undecided on two. But one was a new Camry. Given how respectful and easy Nate to work with, I chose to come back here. When I texted him, he knew who I was. It was nice when i realized that. When it comes to Toyota, I have a specific admiration for them. In 2009, a 1992 Camry saved my life when the 17+ year-old airbag deployed when my car landed "in a tree" when I fell asleep driving. Nate wants you to but a car, but you'd never know it from his demeanor. He won't pressure you into anything. You're immediately treated like an old friend from back in the day. He let's you lead the conversation. And he works with finance to get the best you can for your money. Rick and the rest of the service department has also been a great help with understanding any problems I have had. It was with an ultimately benign system that allows you to remote start your car from your phone (honestlynot that important). And they figured it out, when everyone was telling me "it's probably the app". It took some thinking outside the box to figure that one out, as no one had ever seen it before! I can say I love my new Camry. But don't take my word for it. Go talk to Nate and the rest of the team. I worked out a deal with the sales person and sales manager over the weekend. I told them I would be in on Monday afternoon to bring the check from the credit union and sign all the paperwork. I was unable to get tot he dealership Saturday before they closed but I offered to put something down on my credit card, the sales manager said not to worry about it if I was coming in on Monday. I emailed him on Monday morning around 10:00 and said I had the check in hand and will be there around 3:45. He replied back that he would see me then! Around 1:30 I get an email from the sales person saying they sold the truck. I contacted the corparate general manager and discussed it with him. He agreed they chould have contacted me before sellign the vehicle to verify I would be there to close the deal. He said he would get with the sales person the next day and have atalk with him He said they will at least find me another vehicle about the same or better at the same price. The next afternoon I got a link to the companies inventory and said to let me know if they could help. A far cry from what I was told and they have not gotten back a hold of me even after I reached out to the GM again. DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE, THEY HAVE NO INTEGRITY AND JUST TELL YOU WHAT YOU WANT TO HEAR. DO NOT BUY FROM HERE. We went in for a checkup and a recall inspection. Essentially for 1 hour of shop time they charged $700. They even chargedus $65 to put in a cabin air filter that took 0 seconds. Amusingly, they also made a point of mentioning that our car was cleaned... It was not cleaned in any way. I verbalize this to them and they said no this was standard treatment. I feel very sorry for anybody who has purchased a car from them. The story does have a happy ending. I've always told my children to get their heart set on one particular car or one particular house when they're looking to make a major purchase. There will always be another car. the following morning, a sales person I only talk to by phone called me and had a car that met my needs even better than the car I had walked away from. We did everything possible we could by phone and I went to the dealership, Saturday morning, completed the transaction and drove out of the showroom in approximately one hour. Someone tells us to come in so we could have a look at the car and talk about trading it in or selling it to them. We end up going to Sam , Lehman Toyota in Bloomington, Illinois, and immediately we were greeted by Hugo. We tell him that we're coming to see someone else and he continues to talk to us And have us sit down at his desk. Immediately without running credit or asking what we would like to put down or even looking or appraising my vehicle he says sorry we can't get a price change then he starts walking away, talking to other people playing on his phone and helping other customers while we're sitting at his desk he comes back and asked do we want to do a credit check but he's 100% that my car payments will still be $750 a month sidenote, I bought this car three years ago with a 530 credit now my credit is 710 not the best but not the worst. I have no debt on my credit anyways. We say yes, he says to sit at his death, and fill out everything as he proceeds to go and play with his other friends. And help other customers with their cars we finish the credit check and someone else came over to help us send credit check in because he was too busy playing on his phone. We wait 30 minutes he never comes back and when he did come back, another customer walked in the store he says welcome to Sam Leman can I help you with anything The Guy told him when he was looking for he had a guy come stand at the table with us started filling out stuff finding with the guy was looking for. He says we have two vehicles in the lot. Proceeds to walk him out the door to look at these vehicles while we were waiting so we walked out. I'm not saying this about all of Sam Leman Toyota, but Hugo was not professional at all. This has ruined our experience and lost him a sell. I honestly am not trying to pull the race card but if I were anything else, but black, he would've helped a lot more you just had to be there. [3x car purchaser at this location] Three star review for a couple of reasons: some of the salespeople are quite pushy and overtly condescending. You may also find scuff/abrasion marks inside the cabin of your vehicle after a servicing so just beware and it may be in your best interest to bubble wrap certain 'scuff-prone' areas due to their tendency to not think all that much about it. Although they did cover up the scuff through a separate appointment and fill my tank, so that much can be appreciated. But it happened again on a different servicing, only difference this time, I had taped over the spot that was scuffed last time during service and there just so happened to be a scuff over the tape in that same spot. Luckily I prepared this time eh. Oh, and professionalism seems to be their last priority. I don't know of a respectable business that considers calling their customers "buddy" as opposed to "sir" or the customers first name professional but as they say, "I'm not your buddy, pal". This is a business, not a night out w the boys. If these three scenarios didn't set off any red flags for you, then more power to you. Don't think they could have executed better! High marks for integrity, performance and pricing. Although I was an out of town Tacoma buyer, at no time did I feel uncomfortable or at a disadvantage. They deal went smoothly and quickly. My three local Grand Rapids dealers all led me to believe the trim level desired was not being manufactured, but through Auto Trader found one on the lot at Sam Leman. At least one GR dealer tried to gouge with a $1335 "processing fee", which was not even brought up at Leman. Do NOT buy a car from this place. Their operation feels more like Bob's Used Cars than a licensed Toyota dealership. Negotiating with them on the price of my trade-in and the car I bought was not a good experience. The salesperson, Tony Clark, and the sales manager, Jacob Perry, who was also working on the deal, literally played the "I have a wife and kids to feed" line which is extremely unprofessional if you ask me. The afternoon I was there I had another appointment to go to at another dealership. They were PISSED I wasn't buying the car right then and there and let me know it. THEN a week later I see a hubcap is missing. I think to myself "I bought this car a week ago and it is already falling apart, literally." I call Tony Clark, the salesperson. I explain the situation and he says "well, people do bad things sometimes, ya know what I mean?" insinuating that someone stole it....one plastic hubcap...off a Toyota Prius... When I suggested that maybe a mechanic hadn't put it on quite right, he said nope, that wasn't possible. Then, he tries to sell me a hubcap for $110. After a quick Google search, I found one on ebay for $30. I think I'm going with ebay. The only good guy there that I interacted with was Seth Shepard in financing. Great guy - competent and efficient. Update: The sales manager called me 20 minutes after I posted this review and offered to pay for my new hubcap. Terrible service department. Took over 2 hours to service my car. The car was left multiple times just sitting there not being worked on, while I sat there and waited!! I was given excuses that my car was being thoroughly inspected and that was why it was taking so long. Really? Tell your lies to someone else. I have eyes and can see it was not being worked on efficiently. Plus, don't forget not all people are stupid. Some might believe that, but I have more experience with other Toyota Service centers that had my car in and out for the same service, no 2 hour wait. In addition, MANY employees were not wearing masks properly, this is IF they were wearing them at all. Tried to help a relative buy a car here. The salesperson and manager were shamelessly trying to squeeze every cent for themselves to the point of even delaying and blocking my relative from using Toyota Financial Services for financing, as well as not allowing him to use his own credit union from which he had financing pre-arranged. They said that they only want people using their preferred lenders who give them kickbacks! They're also marking up each model well above MSRP. The joke is on them, he ended up driving to the Chicago suburbs to get a different new Toyota (which came almost to the same price as Leman's OTD when you include the sale the other dealer offered, without even knowing he'd already been shopping around), and that dealer had no issues with him bringing his own financing, and gave him a discount. It'd be nice to support a local business, but when the local business is greedy to the point of charging thousands more, a simple trip up north is worth it. read more

This place will take advantage of the elderly. My father went in to finance a vehicle and told them he wanted to finance through CEFCU. They told him he wasn't approved through CEFCU. After reviewing the paper work on the thumb drive for my dad, the bank they financed through had a double interest rate than CEFCU. They had also increased the amount of the car by $800. I immediately took this matter into my hands for my dad and contacted the dealership and CEFCU. CEFCU confirmed that they had never even submitted the loan at CEFCU. The dealership agreed to discard the loan through the other bank and submit the loan through CEFCU. However at this point I didn't believe they deserved my dads business. We returned the car to them and will never consider doing business with them again. I have since talked to several people that work in the loan department at CEFCU and apparently this is a common practice at this dealership. read more

We are in the process of buying my daughters first car. She's a good kid and would have been happy with the 2003 Honda Civic they were advertising. After having had several (4) cars sold out from under us. I triple checked with Sam Leman before driving the 45 miles from our home to the dealership. I spoke with Erin, what sounded like a mechanic (who explained what the car needed/was having done in preparation of our test drive and another salesperson (?) who assured me the car had been pulled up front....end of the story is that they had promised someone else first dibs on the car. What the heck??? They then pulled a newly received car (no detailing done, etc) and we test drove the volvo. The high mileage of the car had me concerned. At the end of the day we were $500 apart on price (and $1800 more than I planned on spending). We left, once again with no car for my daughter. If you're looking for a dealership that uses COVID to treat their customers poorly, this is the dealership for you. I called to get more photos than the one that was on their Autotrader ad. The receptionist asked, "Where are you calling from?" Weird question, but okay. She connected me to a sales guy, Colin. After I tell him what I was looking for, he asks me the same thing. Then, he said, "With the way the market is right now, I'm not going to be able to sell this to you seeing as how you're out of state...." I said, "so if I drive up there and try to buy it, you won't let me buy it?" He said, "Not with an out of state license, with all the titling and what not." Why even list on Autotrader? I told him it was very pathetic and unprofessional that a Toyota dealership can't handle that and you should put that on their advertisement. "Ohh well... yeah we should..." I said I was ready to come pay cash he said they only do financing. Couldn't help but laugh. When we called back to speak to manager, Jacob, he first said it was taking a year to get titles done through their dmv. But this is used, so your DMV has nothing to do with it? When we brought up our dealership calling them to transfer it, he said he would with an offer he "couldn't refuse." So basically, it's not because they can't, they just want to make money off your financing, off the in service from local people, you in seat so they can upsell you all their plans and other BS, because "they can." This post is regarding their Service Dept. only - sorry for the length, but want others to be aware before you take your car there: 1) I set up an appointment and told them I needed a recall taken care of and a part replaced that was recently covered under an extended warranty. They said "ok - we will order the parts" and set my appointment for 3 weeks out. Fine. Take my car in, they fixed the recall, but then tell me "ok we've ordered the part that's covered under the extended warranty....we'll call you when it's in". Ummm, you had three weeks! Why in the world would you have not just ordered the part when you ordered the part for the recall! Now I have to take MORE time off work just to bring the car back. 2) I asked them for an estimate to fix the cable on my electric rear sliding doors on my minivan. They quoted $1,270 - for a SNAPPED CABLE. They said it was because the cable couldn't be ordered separately - it comes as a whole unit that includes the motor. I told them my motor was fine and didn't need replaced. Didn't matter, they said they CAN'T replace one without the other. Took it to a local mechanic who ordered the replacement cable FROM TOYOTA for $40.00. So Toyota sells this cable separately to mechanics....yet their own dealership was trying to cheat me out of 1,270 to replace something that wasn't broken. Tried to explain this to them after the fact, they didn't want to even listen. 3) Their service dept. staff is terrible in general. I attempted to very nicely explain the #2 issue to let them know that in fact it CAN be done....the guy (John) literally just threw his hands up in the air and got super defensive and almost yelled at me that all he does is listen to what the techs tell him to do and he doesn't know why the said that and it's not his fault and etc. etc. I tried to bring it up to someone else on the phone (don't remember the guy's name), same reaction. Additionally, I had to explain to no less than 3 people what I needed done on my van every time I would call or go in there. Do these people not have some kind of electronic notepad they can take notes on instead of making me explain the work that needs done 3 times? That's customer service at its worst. 4) The shuttle service driver answered and had a conversation on his cell phone while driving, and it wasn't hands-free (illegal in my state). read more
