Had a blowout done today. While it's not as fancy as some salons, the price is right. Angie did an amazing job of straightening my hair - which is usually an unruly mess. Everyone was friendly and professional. The only thing I did not like was the girl who washed my hair. She had a bracelet on and I was afraid it would get stuck in my hair (but it didn't). I have been a customer of the Lemon Tree for almost 25 years. I have always been impressed with how friendly and accomodating their staff has been to me over the years. Agata has always been my hairdresser and strides to give me exactly what I ask for. It is so comforting to know that if I cannot make my appointment with Agata due to a conflict in my schedule, that I feel so at ease letting any one of the staff color, cut, and style my hair. They all know me and are always ready and willing to take care of me just as Agata does. My husband and two adult children have been also coming to Lemon Tree for years as well, and are always happy with their treatments. Agata has done my daughter's hair for her Bat Mitzvah and asked specifically for Agata to do her hair for her recent prom. Next milestone is for Agata to do the keratin treatment on my daughter before she heads off to college. I love Agata, Fran and their staff! I've been going to Kathy for the past 8 yrs at Lemon Tree, and I wouldn't let anyone else there do my hair. She is so very knowledgable about color and the newest styles. She also knows what would and wouldn't work for me. She is also on time with her appts without rushing anyone in her chair. I have sent 5 of my friends to her and they love her as well! I have been going to Lemon Tree for at least 25 years. My entire family has their hair cut, color, made up for affairs, etc. The owners are very kind and courteous. You can always get an appointment and the quality is excellent. Their prices are also excellent. The staff are very friendly and prompt. I wouldn't go anywhere else. read more

I have been going here for many years to many different people, but I feel that the one I go to now is the best! Her name is Kathy, she greets you with the biggest smile and actually asks how you are doing, and really listens for an answer, not just making small talk. She actually cares. Wonderful at her job, knows hair and does a fabulous job, never a long wait and I always feel so much better after getting my hair done by Kathy. Like visiting an old friend! NO customer loyalty- I had been seeing Hannah for years, always for a quick trim and looking at the price list listed, she ALWAYS overcharged me. I tied her for color/root touch ups and noticed her putting water in the dye bottle to get more dye use, ugh! Last time I went I had called her and asked if she could do a body wave and whew emphatically said ,YES! but NO! I left with a "Terrible" perm. I called later that day to tell her that I was not happy and needed to wash it out, she didn't even apologize !!!!!!!!! Cheaters and liars!!!!! I took my 2 year old son to this place. They were not welcoming because it took them 20 minutes before they said a word to me even a hello. When i called them up over the phone they said they have time slot for an appointment but when i got there they told us they can't accommodate us. No courtesy to call ahead and informing the customers before their appt. is cancelled. It was a raining day and you have to do the street parking. Not a good place and i won't definitively won't recommend it. read more

Only reason I am giving it 2 stars is because the stylist and woman at the counter were very nice, but the haircut was terrible. The stylist's name was Nick and he seemed like a nice guy, but he did not know how to cut hair. He was very inexperienced, but it obviously didn't show until after he was done. There are many places where my hair is uneven and the back of my hair is on a slant instead of a nice straight line. I don't think I am ever going to come back to get my hair done here ever! read more

First time @ this Lemon Tree for a cut and color. Don't remember the name of the person who did my hair (she had balloons by her station). She did such a sloppy job. The hair color stained my ears, neck, forehead and on my jaw. She had the audacity to say the girl who washed my hair did not do a good job and proceed to vigorously rubbed the areas that had the stains and then tell me it is better and I should take make up remover to clean it out (very conflicting statement wouldn't you say). As for the hair cut, it was nothing close to what I ask for. I will never go back there! read more

Went in for a touch up. Told the hair dresser, Heather, that my hair takes a bit longer to cover the gray. She ignored me and washed out color too soon. I went back and she touched up front. I have limited time so I prefer not to have to do this. . About one month later I went to a very upscale salon in the city on a groupon for a touch up, full head of highlights, and haircut. The highlights from the city salon were absolutely great. They charge over $350 usually. I would never pay that but it was a treat on the groupon. After 4 weeks I needed another touchup so I decided to try Heather again. I told her that perhaps we could add a few golden highlights up front as I wanted to see how that color highlights would look. The girl in the city had done multi-colored highlights so it wouldn't have been a problem. As she began I told her to please not cover my previously done highlights. She snapped at me, saying, "Just let me do my job; I know what I'm doing". I was very taken aback and didn't want to say another word. To say she's "angry: is an understatement. She proceeded to cover the beautiful highlights I had done in the city just one month prior (I would have had those highlights for months and months). She did her own highlights. I left with a wet head as I had to pick up my kids. As I was driving and the hair was drying I looked in my car mirror. I couldn't believe it. It was the most uneven, unprofessional highlight job I have ever had bar none. She covered my beautiful highlights (and even with the groupon with tipping and parking it was over $150) and left me with a job that a first day beauty school student with blindfolds could have done. I called and they said to come back. She was furious and said that she can't make me happy and I should go elsewhere. She made an attempt to add some highlights up front to even things out but never checked to see if I was done and just washed it out. It didn't work. I was upset and called. Heather was rude, of course, and said she only charged me $45 for a touchup and highlights. I said "I didn't want new highlights and certainly didn't want the other highlights covered". I called back to speak to the manager. She was rude as well - wouldn't do anything. I called back to speak to the owner and she posed as the owner of the Lemon Tree franchise - which was not true. She was rude as well. I called the owner of the franchise and there was nothing he could do. I have to close by saying that I am not a difficult customer - I never complain about salon work as I'm not that into it - but this was just beyond acceptable. If you're that angry at a customer - which she was from the moment she met me - you should get professional help so that the customer, who has nothing to do with your emotional problems, does not become the object of your rage. I just went to a salon in Rockville Center, La Belleza, and just completed a rave review on Yelp. Fantastic place. But as for Lemon Tree - never again!!! The worst salon experience I have ever had!!! it's our first time here.we went with the coupon we received. however, no coupon accepted in this store. they argued that they have already charged cheap which is not true. it's all the same price in the other lemon tree salon. they cut my kid's hair terrible and make him cry! please don't even get a try all. read more

A very close friend of mine recommended the Lemon Tree in New Hyde Park to me about 8 years ago. This Lemon Tree has been my hair salon ever since and I have since brought my Mother, Sister and Sister-in-law to this salon as well. We all get our hair either colored or highlighted here. I have been using Heather for about 2 years. I was always receiving highlights but always wanted a super blonde look and Heather recommended changing from highlights to a double process. It was everything I wanted and she did a fantastic job. The first time she did the double process on me I left feeling so happy that my hair was finally the blonde I always wanted but wasn't quite able to achieve with traditional highlights. My sister decided to do the same to her hair after seeing what a wonderful job Heather had done to mine. My sister has now been a very happy customer with Heather as well for almost 2 years. My Mother has also been using Heather but she receives highlights rather than color, like I do. My Mother loves her highlights! Heather has always been professional and friendly to each of us. I have always left her chair with a smile on my face. I am very grateful to my friend for having recommended Lemon Tree. In addition to Heather and her color expertise, I also have had my hair cut and styled there, last time for a major special event in my life, my engagement party. I purchased a Groupon, scheduled an appointment on Mother's Day weekend, drove 30 minutes through horrible traffic, and paid for parking only to be treated with absolute rudeness and disrespect and refused service. I was told my hair was too damaged and they did not want to be responsible for doing highlights. I explained that my roots, where I wanted the highlights, is virgin hair and completely undamaged, and then I was told that my hair was "too thin" and that I should get my money back from Groupon (as the woman rudely walked away). No offer to do the cut, conditioning treatment, or style, all of which were part of the Groupon package. Happy Mother's Day to me. I've never had such an upsetting, belittling experience at a salon in all my life. Clearly, they just didn't have time to see me and/or don't have the ability to apply highlights only to roots, which any professional salon can do. read more
