We stumbled upon this place as we were trying to find dinner on Elgin St. (El Camino, down the street, was a disappointment, so we decided to give this place a try.) I must say it was 10x better than my lunch! The place is quaint, with fuchsia/burgundy chair covers. It was a quiet Saturday night for them. I ordered the green curry with veggies. It didn't come with rice, but I was ok with it. I can drink the broth like a soup. There was lots of variety of veggies and it came hot. The broth was not salty at all which is excellent since I treated like a soup. My partner had the chicken pad Thai. The sauce was not overwhelming and was not sweet at all which was nice. They didn't forget that he wanted extra crushed peanuts. But they have really upped their game-had some deep fried shrimp tonite that I do not recall seeing on the menu in the past-superb as was the crispy chicken. We used to order from here because it was within walking distance but tonites meal would have been worth travelling for. This is a classic "ok" place. I set here with my wife for lunch, they have a 14$ special that includes a salad or a soup (both very small), spring rolls (the best part of the meal) or fried tofu and the main course. I had the Pad Thai (that was the only thing with noodles and I had a craving) which was just ok, my wife Curry was much better. Overall the service was not amazing (and the place had just 1 more couple), the food was very filling but not memorable. I went to this place once before and their pad thai/pad see ew were pretty good, so I tried ordering from them on skipthedishes one night. Ordered at 7pm, got a confirmation my order was received and was billed. Did not receive any more updates until 9h30, at which point I checked online and realized the restaurant had already closed. Fast-forward to midnight, a skipthedishes rep calls to say that what the restaurant did was shady and unprofessional and gave me a refund. Word of advice, don't order delivery from them. read more

This place had a great atmosphere (once the super loud chatty girls next to us left) a little elegant, but not so much so that you feel under dressed and out of place--a good vibe. There were not many diners the Wednesday night we went, but I did see several people get takeout. Started the meal with a nicely fragrant lemongrass tea, nice and light. We also enjoyed spring rolls and Tom Kha Kai soup. I quite enjoyed the soup, it was very well balanced and had excellent flavour; however I do wish the veggies had been more of a one-bite size than a two-bite size. I had the mango salad and my dining partner had the pad thai. Both were yummy and I like that there was no skimping on nuts--gotta love the crunch. I've tried Lemongrass three times now and won't be back. The first time I ate in and had the ginger stirfry with tofu and it was great. The next two times I ordered out and both were very disappointing. The pad thai is extremely sweet - it tasted like they used Chinese sweet and sour sauce, not at all like pad thai I've had at other restaurants. The pad see ewe had basically no toppings. Two words: utterly inedible. We (foolishly) ordered takeout tonight here-- ordered the salmon curry and a chicken noodle dish. The salmon showed up in two containers: the first was a dried up, sad fried beyond belief piece of salmon that had more dried fried bits than actual salmon. It tasted like jerky. In a bad way though.... the curry resembled a bucket of dirty bathwater w some pieces of lemongrass. The lemongrass was the only highlight. Combined they were even worse than the individual descriptions. The noodle dish was a health hazard. The chicken was raw. Literally pink inside. Raw, pale chicken floating in a bed of overcooked rice noodles. Not sure if they forgot the sauce or even have one but there wasn't any in ours. We threw it all out. $50 down the garbage disposal. Sadly tonight we ate some jasmine rice and called it a day. I hope no one has to ever step foot in this place again. For your own sake. Save the penny. Save the disappointment. read more

We came to visit Ottawa for winterlude and was looking for a place to eat. We stumbled upon Lemon Grass because the decor inside looked modern and the menu that was displayed outside seemed reasonable. As an appetizer we ordered the mango salad, fried tofu wit sweet chilli sauce and satay chicken skewers. For our main we ordered chicken pad Thai, chicken red curry and beef rice noodle stir fry with sticky rice and Thai iced tea. The food was very tasty and my boyfriend said that the red curry was the best he has ever had. The chicken satay skewers and the fried tofu with chilli sauce was very yummy as well. The prices were reasonable for the amount of food that was given and we would definitely come back to eat here. I love thai curry so i ordered the Chicken red curry. I thought it was good. Could have used a little more spice - i believe you can choose the level but i wasnt asked. Good amount of veggies and meat. I thought it was interesting that you had to order the rice as an extra side. The lady comes across as a bit rough but shes actually pretty nice and we chitchatted about candy crush :p One thing i would change is the temperature in the restaurant. it was hot! This place is just "meh". Everything seems quite fresh here but there isn't much originality or substance to what they offer. Sauces are too sweet and everything packs a bit less of a punch than you would hope. You aren't going to be upset trying this place if you want a Thai option downtown, but I doubt you'll be very excited with it either, very inoffensive take on Thai dishes. read more

The best food in downtown area. Fine Thai cuisine in town. If you in the area definitely visit. The atmosphere is cozy and everything is in clean and has a nice modern style. I tried pha nawng red curry chicken and soup that was recommended by chief in the menu(tom kha with shrimps). Soup was a bit spicy for me but after a second spoon Hot was tolerable. The other party at the table ordered some veggie wraps with peanut sauce. We shared some and it was really good. Also they had beef with veggies and rice which they enjoyed as was tasty and fresh. My girlfriend and I serendipitously found this place after deciding Isakaya was overpriced and we were feeling something different tonight. Soon after we walked in, it was apparent to us that this was a nicer thai restaurant than we were used to (wine glasses, dim light, etc). We sat down and looked through the menu. There were most of the thai standards - pretty much everything you would want a thai restaurant to have. The service was great and restaurant was very spacious with a great atmosphere. I ordered the Chicken Red Curry with a side of rice, which was pretty good! Having lived in Cambodia in the past, I am a bit of a curry snob. Rest assured, the curry here is pretty good (:. My girlfriend ordered the Green Mango Salad - which was absolutely delicious - definitely some of the best mango salad I've ever had. The mangos were freshly cut and came with an assortment of peppers, cashews and slices of onions. We also got the grilled pork cold rolls - but they weren't anything to write home about. Also, everything was pretty reasonably priced, as all dishes are between $10 to $15. If you're looking for Thai in Ottawa, I would definitely suggest that you check this place out. read more

Tried it... Wasn't impressed. I'm kind of a lame duck when it comes to Thai. Soup/Vermicelli bowl/Beef Satay... Nothing more, nothing less. Unfortunately it was less. I didn't feel like soup tonight but I had a longing for a good meaty vermicelli bowl or a beef satay. Unfortunately this restaurant does not make either with lemongrass (despite its name) or a beef satay with rice. I tried politely to ask the waiter to make me a beef satay (which comes on skewers on their appetizer menu) with rice to no avail. In the end, I had a beer with a salt/pepper shrimp (which wasn't on their menu but was noted to be a new item on an old crusty piece of paper). The shrimp was fantastic...but in end I left to have a real full meal elsewhere. 3 stars for the shrimp. read more

I ordered on Skip -- spring rolls, papaya salad and pad Thai, all vegetarian. The spring rolls were passable. The papaya salad was horrible. It tasted of bleach or some other cleaning product. I wonder of the cook didn't rinse off the chopping block before preparing the ingredients on it. Plus, the vegetables were soft, kind of slimy and too sweet. One bite -- and into the compost it went. The pad Thai was sticky and flavourless. Just yucky. Also went into the bin. I am disappointed and hungry, and now I also have an MSG migraine from whatever I managed to ingest. Blech. read more

This place is one of my faves to Thai in Ottawa. Their Mon-Fri lunch buffet (you choose at your table) is amazing for the price - $13.99, not to mention it's all you can eat. Came on a weekend for lunch, they don't tell you that there's a regular menu because they give you the buffet menu right when you walk in ($14.99 for lunch on weekdays, $16.99 on weekends). In my opinion, the food is not worth the price cause there isn't more than 20 options on the buffet menu. Disappointingly, the Pad Thai tasted like ketchup and had far too much sauce (almost a soup). Most of their entree items taste just if MSG. The soups and appetizers were good (esp. the chicken skewers), the spring rolls were much too oily. The mango salad was made with unripened mangoes. Great atmosphere and great food.We tried the breaded skewered chicken with peanut sauce as an appetizer and it was just enough for the three of us to get into the mood for more dishes. Between the pad tia with shrimp, the green curry chicken with bamboo shoots and the pork and eggplant to finish the triade, we were in culinary heaven. The all-you-can-eat lunch buffet is excellent...it includes appetizers, soups, and entrees, which were decent portions. Every dish we ordered was fresh and hot, and the service was friendly and quick. We plan to return next time we visit Ottawa. read more

Stop here for lunch on Canada's Thanksgiving Monday. Place was empty but it was almost 2 pm and a holiday. I should've followed my rule not to go into empty restaurants. Anyway, saw the $8.95 Pad Thai Lunch special on the window and figure what the heck. The place looked nice. Order the Pad Thai and it came out in 3 minutes. Wow, quick service I thought. Turns out it was microwaved Pad Thai. First mouthful burned my tongue. It was soaked in sauce. Flavor and noodles were ok. 1/2 the amount of sauce would've been more than adequate. Chicken slices were bland, like they were boiled. Ate about 3/4 of it after it cooled off and asked for the check. Too much sauce. Surprise: $13.95. What happened to the lunch special? Well that's only for take out. Didn't even get hot tea. Not recommended. read more
